As someone who is only a few weeks/months into this whole process, I appreciate the variety in cost and product you display on your channel. 💖 I have very fine, low density, curly hair. I love your tips about using hair spray!! I had never thought to try that before. Until this past 6-8 weeks I'd avoided mousse, hair spray, gel, etc. like the plague in my hair. I had horrible memories of drying products that left my hair stringy and crunchy. Now, I want to try it all LOL 🤣 And because so many products aren't alcohol drying type (like they used to be) I am not scared to try new products & new combinations. I know that crunch comes out and that cast is helping to protect my curls. I really appreciate the time, effort, and honesty you put into each and every one of your videos. Awww, thank you so much for your kind words. If you are recently transitioning I might caution you on using hairsprays, especially the kind I use, because I prefer the more drying kind with denatured alcohol. Because your hair is probably damaged (heat and/or chemical), drying alcohols (like the denatured) could set your progress back. There have been a lot of recent reformulations in hairsprays, though, to make them less drying. So ultimately you have to see what works for you. I'm a big believer in not limiting yourself to a strict set of hair rules. Good luck on your journey, and thanks for watching. 😊
I get your pain with drug store products not having protein in them. My hair likes to have that too. I’m not sure of you’ve tried any of the Cantù products, but a lot of their curl activators have protein in them. My favorite is the grape seed curl activator. It’s surprisingly light weight and gives me a decent amount of volume. And it has protein in it. I haven’t tried any of the OGX products, but I may have to try this mousse. It looks interesting. I have tried the original Cantu Curl Activator and I think it's their Define and Shine Custard (I did a video a couple years ago). Never tried the grape seed line (not even sure if they still make it). I actually watched your video comparing those four Cantu Curl Activators 😀.
The NYM Curl Talk in general has some protein in it. I know the cream does; not sure about the other products (besides the bonding products). So there are some affordable lines that have protein, but by in large, many affordable brands are lacking in this in my opinion.
Hi Jodi! I'm also Drug Store team! I like OXG, too. I also tried the generic of OXG from Shaw's & I think it's just as good. I have OXG hairspray. It's okay. I I'm just going use it up. I don't think I'll be repurchasing it again. I've tried the mousse h the milk & I liked those two.
The first mousse that I purchased was the OGX mousse when I started playing around with products. I ended up not using it much though & can't say why really. My favorite drug store line is Not Your Mothers Curl Talk & Hask Curl Line. My hair has been up for almost 2 weeks! The dew points are awful & my hair doesn't last more than a day without frizzing out. If I stayed inside the air conditioning it would be better. I like being outside too much though😊.
