Lafayette in the french revolution AND Washington's presidency both sound like awesome ideas. also, I'd love to see some latin American history- maybe Bolivar and independence, the empire of Brazil, or the Mexican revolution(s).

@@DrawnofHistory To be fair, doing a video series on Lafayette would be different from what Oversimplified did. Lafayette had a very strange turn of events happen to him during his time in Revolutionary France and it'd be amazing to see his interactions with a bitter Napoleon.
Late roman imperial history is slept on a lot I feel like, some great events/stories you could do: the 5 good emperors, the story of the Tetrarchy (Diocletian to Constantine) or the crisis of the third century. This isn't late imperial history but the year of the 4 emperors is an incredibly interesting period (and could be kinda relevant with whats going on in the middle east since during the year of the 4 emperors Vespasian and his son Titus put down the Great Jewish Revolt) @@DrawnofHistory

Very entertaining - as always. Considering Lafayette’s story leads into the French Revolution which leads into Napoleon there’s plenty of material for future videos that link together.
So many jokes, sight gags, and references that you have to watch these more than once to get them all and that will help viewers become more educated on the topics. You're a very clever creator and dear lord do you need more attention! I first came here because of Mr. Terry and as he says, this is 'The best channel you're not watching.' As a university student studying history, I'm gonna do as you suggest and provide you with a topic. the revolutions of 1848. I don't know if you can cover *all* the revolutions and on top of that explain the "why" behind these revolutions. I know about some of the specific revolutions, such as the Paris revolution, the Frankfurt parliament, and the Hungarian revolution. But a video form your channel about this topic would be very helpful for me once May rolls around. All in all I'd love a video on the revolutions of 1848. p.s. been as subscriber since your first video, as recommended to me by yours truly, Mr. Terry

When Washington mentioned his first fight. It really did start the French & Indian War, also known as the Seven Years War. It's considered to be the first worldwide War, with battles on several continents.

Love the video, love the channel. I have always wondered something though. Britain was broke/having trouble with money during and after the revolution, yet a short time later, during Napoleon's reign, they seemed to suddenly be flush with money, and paid nations in mainland Europe to fight Napoleon. Where did they get the funds to do it, and would it be an interesting topic? If the choice is between Washington and Lafayette though, I would be more interested Lafayette, as most of the history I studied really glossed over his return to France. Just a personal curiosity though, and video will be awesome to get.
Well, if England was able to find all the money necessary to fight and (finally!) defeat Napoleon, it was because this time the situation was very different. It had become a question of life and death for English trade, especially because of the stupid continental blockade. England is not an absolute monarchy : at the time of the American War of Independence, merchants were not ready to give all the necessary money. But faced with a possible French monopoly on various goods, the merchant nation felt an existential threat and they pledged everything they had, reserves included. After all, they were the best and most innovative capitalists in the wolrld . Anyway. how could France with its size and demographics seriously hope to conquer all of Europe? This is absolute madness !!! ! If Napoléon could have created free nations, not subject to France, having their free will and control over their choice and their destiny, it could have worked. This was the hope of the Bavarians and even Beethoven believed in it for a time.But playing dictator when you are the son of a Revolution could only fail. And that's good. I'm French but for all the glory in the world I wouldn't have wanted to live under a military dictatorship that didn't care about the lives spent. Just read the private correspondence at the time, the majority of French people apart from the officers no longer wanted him. The French were fed up with the death lists and the lack of freedom. And art! Even Chateaubriand himself was banned from publishing and Napoleon publicly threatened to have him executed! Yet at the time he was the greatest and most recognized French writer in Europe!! Madame de Staël was forced into exile. They were no more art! The English, Prussians and Russians have done us a great service. Have a nice day writers and viewers.

It's a pretty great video! It would be even better with a cameo of Tadeusz Kościuszko, another young and idealistic volunteer from Europe, whom Gates basically credited for the victory at Saratoga. He designed and built West Point (it appears that his and Arnold's stories kept crossing). He was also a friend of Lawrence and of course also an abolitionist. Back in his homeland he did arguably even greater things but ultimately lost. Despite that (or maybe because) he is essentially considered the greatest Polish hero ever. Many Lithuanias and Belarusians also considered him their hero. Despite all that he isn't talked often about in US, it would appear... It's the name, isn't it? You guys just can't pronounce it. 😉
When I teach the revolution in my irl class, I always make sure to give him and Pulaski some love. I used to live in a very polish neighborhood so I make sure theyre highlighted.

I noticed them in some historical paintings. Capes are tricky though and need to always be drawn back over the shoulders since each figure is basically head, left arm, right arm, body layer.

Space Race is on the very short list and might be this year. I draw in photoshop, do most of the animate in premiere, and am learning after effects.

I would love to see a Lafayette Part 3 (aka "Electric Boogaloo"). Also did those capes at 14:30 actually exist or is it inspired from Assassins' Creed 3?
I noticed them in some historical paintings. Capes are tricky though and need to always be drawn back over the shoulders since each figure is basically head, left arm, right arm, body layer.
@@DrawnofHistory The most common depictions I've seen during this time period are the ones with the collars, or at least a knot tieing the collars together.
