Can you guess which actors I modeled Lafayette's appearance and Washington's voice off of? Which actors should be the basis for figures like Cornwallis, Benedict Arnold, and James Armistead in part 2?
Lafayette looks like John Barrowman to me.
Corwallis should Jason Isaacs, and Benedict Arnold should be Tim Allen.
Was Washington's voice based off George W. Bush? Lafayette looks like a generic K-Pop singer or the guy from The Calling with that one hit wonder song.
@@Urlocallordandsavior I was channelling Nick Nolte for Washington.
@@DrawnofHistory Oh yeah, that makes sense. Though doesn't him for Jefferson make more sense? (Jefferson in Paris and all...)

Where is Aaron Burr when you need him?
Honestly Hamilton. You're just... you're just too much.
Well if it isn't Aaron burr, sir.
Aaron Burr, sir?
That depends, who's askin'?
@@zerolantern5794 Oh sure! Sir, I am Alexander Hamilton, I am at your service sir. I have been looking for you...
Not only is lafeyette the best character in Hamilton, but he is also the best person for me in the American war of independance.
My great-great-grandfather had the middle name "Lafeyette". I'm guessing it was because he was born in pre-Civil War America at a time when Lafeyette was so popular he was like a rock superstar, so I figure that was probably why he was given the name.
The Hamilton part has me dead😂😂
My students get so mad when I rib on Hamilton. It's fantastic.

Fun fact, when you really think about it, George Washington technically killed Lafayettes dad, as Washington was involved in the incident that started the French and Indian War, which was part of the imperial conflict between Britain and France known as the Seven Years War.
So the fact that the two of them not only worked together, but that Lafayette was strongly admired him as a leader and in some cases as a father figure is wild.
fr
It's noted in one of the books about him that when Lafayette lost his father, it was in a invading battle - meaning that Lafayette 'did not even have the comfort of knowing [his father] died an honorable death.' Some people think this could be wear his *particularly* bright burning hatred of authoritarianism came from, because a king ordered all of that.

Fully expected Hamilton lyrics, but I’m not disappointed
EXACTLY
Thank you everyone for your love and admiration! I’m awesome I know, I know.
Wow. Glad you enjoyed it Gilbert.
Hi Mr Lafayette
@@alexanderhamilton9891 Hello fellow orphan
Aw, you brought back Little Leif as Little Lafayette. That voice is so stinkin' cute! Seriously, such a criminally underrated channel.
He's might favorite collaborator.
This guy was so funny in history class I started watching him at home for fun, now I'm accidently getting 100% on tests
Haha. Tricked you into learning.
Lafayette simping for Senpai Washington is hilarious
Laffeyette dismounted his horse and rallied the troops. He was then shot in his leg. The field surgeon couldn’t properly care for the wound under the heavy fire. They withdrew. Lafayette arrived in Chester, Pa. that evening as he was losing conciousness.

If Lafayette is Batman and Washington is Superman... does that make John Paul Jones Aquaman?

excited to watch this, read Hero of Two Worlds by Mike Duncan this summer and it was by far one of the best biographies I've ever read. super recommend it. lovely work!!
I will say that Duncan was my anchor text on this.
@@DrawnofHistory I was going to ask about that too.
Speaking of Mike Duncan and European volunteer officers in the Continental Army, in episode 3.40 'The Frozen Rivers' of his Revolutions podcast Dunkan spoke about the often-overlooked importance of the Kościuszko Uprising in Poland for the course of the French Revolution and admitted that he should have already talked about Kościuszko when covering the American Revolution. He even said that he's considering making a special supplemental episode about Tadeusz Kościuszko but never did in the end.
@@DrawnofHistory ah-ha! figures lol. he's a great source.
That was awesome! Cant wait for part 2!
So I should go straight into prep for that?
I love this stream. It kind of reminds me of Drunk History, only sober, so that makes it even funnier. I get a kick out of the right side of history shirt. I hope you get some sponsors, and I love the 2 Drawn Histories that I've seen and love how you sneak in your need for sponsors.
Just found this channel and im hooked
keep up the good work!
Will do.
How much longer would the video be if you had to say Gilbert's full name every time?
Nightmare, just a living nightmare.

New upload yessss
Most of the French where involved for political or personal career reasons, Lafayette, he believed in the cause.
No. What you're regurgitating is the old version of facts that Americans use to avoid acknowledging France's leading role in giving the USA its independence. Just check out what the French Philosophers were publishing years before the American revolution, and think about Beaumarchais' role in equipping the US troops with guns and uniforms (ever grasped why these uniforms were... blue?).
Lafayette, we are here!
I got recommended this on the 4th of July how crazy is that

Hey was that a Flight of the Navigator reference in there? Great movie !!
More Lafayette!!
Mike Duncan of the Revolutions podcast. Wrote a book about this guy. Its likely very good. But on his podcast he's pretty passionate about this guy. Seems like the ideal protagonist for a historical costume drama.
I officially LOVE Lafayette. He's so silly
This is probably better than High School History
Rofl! Those Rowan Atkinson pics are too funny

Napoleon does some cameos in my 1812 series.
