Recently someone scammed me of $190 including free shipping back and forth and they had 4K+ reviews. He was able to exploits listing mistakes on my part. I sold two items and only listed one in the images. I tested both items before I packed them and the person claims they didn’t work or power on. It’s terrible that people always have to find a loop hole. I learned a major lesson in listing descriptions and no more refunds ever.

but there is money there you too. you kinda have to assume you'd lose some random money here and there. there are pieces of shits out there that will ALWAYS accuse you sending them wrong things even tho you don't even that item and never had it in the first place. then you got morons buying the wrong item then blaming YOU of sending them "wrong item".
general rule is you don't sell new expensive stuff on ebay. I deal with things under $100 a piece. thats about the most id risk.

I've had pretty good results. I got burned once by a shitty buyer. For a few hundred bucks. But overall It's gone well. However ebay isn't exactly very transparent about their costs as they used to be. Before, years ago, you know exactly the listing cost as you went to list it. Now, it's sort of hidden.

if you are selling items for $3.55 or so you are OK ....it's when you sell macbook pro's for $1200 that you are risking the shit out of getting scammed. There is NO PROTECTION , ebay simply sides with whomever has the upper hand (in all cases is the person who bought with a CREDIT CARD). If Ebay sides with you it's not over yet , YOU CAN STILL GET A CHARGEBACK MONTHS LATER . In addition Paypal can limit your account for NO REASON , PRACTICALLY NO REASON AT ALL , YOU CAN HAVE 2000 FEEDBACKS FOR 100% AND STILL IF THEIR COMPUTER ALGORITHM SAYS YOU ARE A HIGH RISK USER THEY'LL LIMIT YOU. If you ever get the message that you have to provide "receipts" for a certain item or several , don't bother, it's Paypal way of telling you to F&^^CK OFF ,THEY DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS ANYMORE. I gave up on Ebay after three "damaged while in transit, requesting partial refund" cases in a row and one smart ass that had the gut to list my item on Ebay for resale while opening a case against me saying "it's not a vintage item, I need $300 partial refund" GOOD BYE EBAY ...I don't need the stress

Sold an item just a few hours ago and almost immediately after I sent the invoice got a message from someone with a different username basically saying they will upload payment soon but can I send it to a friend with a different location as a surprise, blah blah blah. More red flags than May Day parade in 1980 Moscow.

Yes I had a buyer contact me before the sell asking if I combined shipping on some pottery items. I told him I would combine 2 items in a $15 priority box but more than that the items were likely to break. So he bought 3 items and after the sell wanted me to rewrite the offer for 3 items with $15 shipping. I refused to change the description of sell and he threatened to give me negative feed back if I did not. So since no money had changed hands I just cancelled the deal. Can't give negative feedback on a deal that did not finalize. Reported him to eBay and they gave him 3 black marks as a buyer for each item.

For obvious reasons we declined to participate...we sell OUR diamonds. But that would be one way to have better protection for your sale, send it to certified showrooms.

Here's a tip! Digital codes sent through eBay are not protected unless you ship a physical item! Do not message them a code, even if its through eBay messages! Either ship a physical game code card, or write it down on a piece of paper and send it. Always get tracking information. Happened to me, lesson learned.

I mostly am a buyer on ebay (sold only three items), but only once did a seller try to scam me out of $5900.00. Bought and paid for a luxury massage chair and the seller kept putting off shipment/delivery, and even offered lots free extra's as compensation for the delay. What they were really trying to do is delay shipping long enough that it went past the buyer protection period so that I could not file a claim with ebay. I filed my claim with about four days left and my money was refunded as the seller had never shipped the item.

I just lost an eBay case today and the buyer scammed me out of a brand new pair of jeans. And this guy only lives 5 minutes from me! He claimed that the package had been tampered with and instead of the jeans that I sent him in the package was a different pair of pants! I have 15 years selling on eBay with 100% feedback and this guy is on eBay less than a month with only 1 feedback and he wins the case!!! They say it was our of his control. Well all he did was switch out the pants! I am pissed! 15 years with them means absolutely nothing! I even had to pay for the return shipping !! So basically he stole a pants from me and on top of that I had to pay for him to send me a crappy old pair of pants! Ugghhh! I'm so frustrated with eBay and that is why I would never sell a high prices item on ebay!

I recently sold a painting for $900, had a special crate built to ship it in, shipped ups insured and the buyer claimed the painting had a tiny chip in the paint and wanted a refund.
I did not offer refunds in my listing and the buyer knew this, I corresponded through eBay and they sent me a very deceitful email that basically said that they demanded a refund, eBay already checked the box that said I would agree to this and you could not offer any other solution, when I tried to exit the email (in ebay’s correspondence system) it then acknowledged that I agreed to the refund.
I was pissed off and called eBay to resolve this, I was routed to a call center in the Philippines where the person speaking to me spoke very broken English and did not understand what I was trying to tell her happened. After about an hour of this getting nowhere and then speaking to a supervisor who spoke slightly better English, we got nowhere.
The customer said to me they left the painting on the front porch for 3 days while he went fishing, it was below freezing each day.
There is a lot more to this story but not enough time here, in the end eBay sided with the customer, I lost $900 and the customer has not returned the painting. PayPal already reversed the money without due process or hearing from me.
I have sold on eBay for 18 years and have 27,985 feedbacks, all positive

    • @yukoncorneliusthelegendhim9751
      @yukoncorneliusthelegendhim9751 4 года назад +1

so putting "no refunds" in your listing effectively does nothing, correct? what's the purpose of it then exactly? im new to selling so im rather confused by this. if this is the case, why doesn't ebay just make every seller automatically offer 30 day returns?? lol
do you have any tips at all? cant believe somebody with 27k 100%+ feedback would experience this kind of robbery lol.

    • @ChiselMouse
      @ChiselMouse 4 года назад

@@yukoncorneliusthelegendhim9751 It's true. I learned this the hard way also, though fortunately on a much less expensive item. You don't technically have to take the return, but Paypal reverses the funds from you anyway. Ebay is absolute TRASH. I don't resell as a money making venture, but was instead selling things of my own that I don't want/need and are of some value. After selling about 50 items, I have been screwed in some way or another on about 1 out of every 5. People winning the auction and falling off the face of the earth, people wanting to return things because of flaws that were both clearly described and photographed, people ignoring plainly described things like the size of a shirt, people wanting to "split the shipping cost" with me, people making offers equal to 5% of the starting bid/BIN price. If dealing with those idiots isn't enough, ebay then won't back you up and now there are more headaches like astronomical shipping costs, sales tax, low prices because everybody and their dog is running out to the thrift store to find stuff to "flip" and there is a surplus of items. It's not worth the headache.

Hello i know that i`m not an Ebay seller but i think it will be important to ebay as well I want to share with you something very important that my shop in Etsy been through last week, I sold products to a Belgian customer and I had the feeling that something was going to happen and I was not wrong, the customer got the products and then the "celebration" began. He claimed that the products were made of plastic and they were made of wood. I had to lose $300 just make him to leave my shop, and that was not the end So far this is just a general explanation He asked me to send him more free products and if I do not send him more products he will give me negative feedback (this is extortion by threats) until I went to the police and filed a complaint about extortion with threatening threats and the Japanese police file it to the interpol ,To continue handling the complaint, Etsy of course helped partially and removed the negative feedback but only partially, my shop went through hell but what does not kill you only make you strong , Keep the good work Bear

A buyer opened a return case on me for a very expensive vintage item that it was "inauthentic". All pieces were tagged and well known to that brand, in nearly mint condition. He swapped the key piece of the item for one in rough shape and kept an expensive accessory. EBay refunded him, paid him to rip me off with my own money. I appealed, what a joke that was, it's a temporary appeasement. I got a defect because I refused to give in to a scammer. I have tons of pics, placed my ad exactly as eBay advises. It did no good.
They MIGHT have given me half, but I would have to give free shipping to be eligible. Paying all the postal fees then become protection money, that's organized crime!
I bought something last year, she sent me an empty padded envelope. EBay sided with her because it was tracked and delivered.

I bought a hefty paper shredder sold as new. When I got it, it was obviously used (tested) there were even lots of confetti paper in the box. When I unpacked it, it was broken. There was a crack across the top near the paper input slot, and it was supposed to sit on a small table sized frame, the front of which pulls out like a drawer. The frame was broken so the heavy shredding unit wouldnt sit on there at all, it was dangerous. The seller didn't argue and didn't want it back. He did ask me to photograph the issues which I did first. I felt pretty bad as it was a pretty costly item, around 70 dollars I guess, but closer inspection later revealed that there was missing packaging. I think there was a polystyrene moulding in the bottom of the box, and there should have been another at the top, after the product was packed in there. It was missing allowing it to move around in the box. This was from a seller with over 4000 positive feedbacks and negligible negatives. So it was not new, and it was damaged (they claim in transit but given the poor packaging, I am not sure) Goes to show you that you can't take anything at face value on ebay. It makes me mad when I work so carefully with things I sell, and most things I buy (new things anyway) are almost always well packed and perfect. Ebay don't help, I kinda feel they are only interested in the 20% commission (including the sister company's paypa share).

I used to sell brand new Airsoft Guns and I put in the description to not burn up the motor by going crazy on full automatic. You should go easy until broken in and it has a fuse for protection. I made a long description on everything to be cautious about and if they had any questions to message me and I would help them. I went quite a while without problems but I had a few almost right in the same month where people where burning them up and the first time eBay refunded their money and didn't make me pay the buyer back but the last two I lost big. The one even sent the gun back without the fuse and the gun was badly handled. It was all scratch up. I was careful and took video and pictures but I lost hundreds of dollars so I just quit because I couldn't afford taking the chance. I'm only selling items that I can afford to loose out on that are not easily broken. Thanks for your Video. Keep up the good work.

There is no seller protection at all. With my scammer I won the eBay case, I won the PayPal case, I even won the PayPal appeal. The buyer then did a credit card charge back. PayPal said they have my back and I should win. Well I lost. The credit card company sided with the buyer so he got to keep my item and get a full refund. PayPal charged me a $20 charge back fee too. So I lost money on the item, shipping cost, $20 fee, and I think the eBay fee as well. PayPal told me I can write off the loses on my taxes. Lol

@Ferdorski - yep I had a couple of local sellers set out to destroy my feedback. I was doing really well and I guess they wanted to kill the competition. They kept starting new accounts. My feedback had been perfect for years. Sellers are treated like shit, I had to stop selling, it wasn't worth the stress. My area in my city is full of criminals. Pick ups became a real concern, even though I was meeting them in a public place. One guy turned up and didn't even look at the item, studied me instead, then said it wasn't what he wanted and left!! He just wanted to find out who I was. And others where I was worried for my safety. The biggest security concern is without a PO Box (which I couldn't afford), eBay give them your address so you run the risk of being broken into at home. I just couldn't take that risk. My son lives with me and our security is paramount. Scammers can return an empty box and you lose your money and the item. They can return something months after purchase, use it and wreck it, then say it wasn't as described! It's bullshit. It's such a shit website. They don't care though. They want to get rid of the small sellers, turn it over to the Chinese. The Chinese have taken over Australia, they may as well have eBay as well. I refuse to buy from any Chinese seller on principle mainly because they are responsible for our high postage costs, but more I won't go into. Anyway, it's a shame and in time, everyone will leave

So, I am currently dealing with my first scam artist. She is claiming I sent her a Vera Bradley bag that was different from the listing. The pictures she sent me were of a different bag (similar, but different). She is demanding (rudely and aggressively, of course), that I refund her the money for the bag, the shipping costs, and the return shipping costs. So, this many be a stupid question, but I'm not an experienced eBayer: If I want to do the return, what is the proper protocol? I send her a message saying, please send me the item back and then I will return your money? And do I have the right to demand she send it back to me first? Because I just want all this done with. I've already involved eBay, but I doubt it will go in my favor.

I have no problem with legitimate returns but I just can't stand those scammers! I sold a carrying case for my son a few months back. It was for a game system. The case was brand new and hadn't even been taken out of it's plastic. I shipped it to the buyer and 2 weeks later they opened a not as described case saying the zipper broke! The case I got back was covered in pet hair and was obviously WAY older than 2 weeks! Of course eBay took the buyer's side! That would not have hurt so much but it was an $80 item! My son had to suffer for that, he got back junk and just had to throw it away. I bet without a doubt they had one that was broken by their own carelessness and they shipped back theirs only to keep my son's brand new item! Hell has a special place for those type of scum! It makes me wonder if these scammers really understand who it is that they are taking from..the reason I shop on eBay is because I know it’s the average Joe like myself trying to make a living who needs my money compared to the Walmart’s of the world..I take every opportunity I can to avoid giving corporations my money. I look at the sellers profile to make sure of who I am giving my business to and if I do receive an item that’s not what I expected, and a low enough price, I just chalk it up as oh well, they got me but at least I know it’s not some group of people who have plenty already and are taking just to take...I once ordered an activation sim kit that came with the 30 day service card for prepaid phones. The listing clearly said this and I was smart and took a screenshot of it before buying. When I got the items which I ordered four of for my sons as well, I got the SIM cards out of one kit that all had the same sim number. I then googled the numbers and found out it was already in use! So, I emailed the seller and flat out told them I’m not one to give negative feedback cuz I also sell on eBay and as a seller, eBay is pretty hard on me with what I sell and conduct my business and this fraud would have me shut down on eBay for good. I do not want to give bad feedback or get any case opening because this would make them look so bad....and sent them a copy of the screenshot of before I ordered and a screenshot of the same listing number and that the listing had been revised since to show something completely different then what I actually ordered. This has happened a lot on eBay for me as a buyer...people selling shit that’s so not what they described and this makes me angry because it makes the rest of us look bad too...this scamming bs goes both ways and the dishonest people are making everyone’s lives that much harder because of greed. Remember who it is that you are doing wrong by...eBay is a good platform for the everyday person to make a bit of cash to keep their lives afloat...we aren’t corporations who actually need the loss to keep from paying in too much taxes...so any person out there willing to rip off another average person is just flat out soulless and evil. Take screenshots of the items before u make your purchase...it has helped me in several cases unfortunately yes, several scams being pulled on me...I can’t even imagine the extent of it in the whole spectrum.

This is what some China based ebay sellers do, sometimes they send defected products, you noticed them and the seller tries to only give you a small refund, that way they still make money while you are stuck with a bad product, or in some cases the seller asks you to return it and you pay for shipping, mind you shipping to china always seems to cost more that what you paid for product itself. I has this happen to me when I was buying Anime Figures, I got the product and there ended up defective, paint chips, broken pieces and such. So what I do is take photos of the issues with the product, send it to the seller with a message about requesting a full refund, I also state that I can't ship it back as it will cost more than it costed me to buy the product and don't want to be out of pocket for a defective product I thought was going to be a good product. 100% of the time they want good feed back, always, no matter what they just want your positive feedback so what I do if they still are not willing to give a full refund is tell them "I bought this product knowing it was going to be as described, it arrived with issues I didn't expect, I am not happy, however I am willing to give positive feedback if you are willing to give me a full refund"
9 times out of 10 I get my full refund, however I wait till I get my refund before giving my feedback, and I keep my word. This is the only time I use "Give me a full refund and I'll give you a positive review''
For anyone out there having issues with China based sellers trying to rip you off then try my idea. If the seller is willing to pay for return shipping then make sure they do pay for it.

Here's the way that I got a return scam on eBay. I sold somebody an item. They got the item and claimed that it did not work as described. they open the case. They got a shipping label to ship it back and put it in a larger package it weighed more than what the shipping label covered. When it got to me with postage due USPS will not deliver. USPS ships it back to the original shipper which was my buyer. They not only got return rewarded to them they also got to keep my product. That was a $200 hickey. I complain to eBay and they said there was no way around their decision to refund my buyer.

Part of This Scamming Buyers Problem IS Information like this Vid, advising eBay Sellers its often better just to give in and "Take it On The Chin" as "the cost of doing business online" and just reconcile yourself to the fact of being scammed by buyers? Reason given is always, you are too busy to deal with bad feedback over refunding a low cost item?? WTF? Then Stop Selling Low Cost Items if they aren't worth Protecting Your Store and Livelihood as a Whole.
I'm a 10 yr ebay store seller and 5 yrs Amazon Store, believe me, I too have been scammed by some shady buyers (mainly on Amazon) and i definitely understand the argument For your recommending; if the item is $15 bucks, then it's just "not worth wasting valuable time and/or getting a neg feedback".
Unfortunately, having that attitude on this subject and advising others to lay down without a fight, only Fuels the Scams, perpetuating the Thefts! Yep, Theft. That's exactly what buyer (or seller) scammers are, they Are Thieves Who Commit Federal Crimes of Mail Fraud against your Virtual Store!!
By Choosing Not to Stand Up and Push Back Against the Over-abundance Scam Buyers, won't help the problem. At least Challenging these scams, win or lose, Sends The Right Message to eBay AND Often does something even better; It Takes The Target of Your Store OFF The Internet Scammers Master List as Easy Prey! THIS Will Ultimately Save You Time and Perpetual Hassles In The Long Haul. And If just One Seller Stands Up For Their Store, It is Also Helping to Protect The Brotherhood of ALL Sellers!

I'm not a seller, but as someone who's messed with an email scammer for fun, communication might help. Talk to them in an attempt to work things out. It'll take patience though. Keep your messages with them strictly on eBay, staying as calm and in control as you can. Stay on topic and keep it professional. Even if they get abusive. The scammers will either get impatient and slip up revealing their intent to scam, or drop it to keep from getting caught. Either way, you'll have a record of everything that was said all stored in eBay's messaging system. If they get obnoxious and abusive, it will all be there in your messages which can be reported, i'm sure. You're supposed to "play nice" in eBay communications by their own rules. Do NOT get angry with them in writing. You'll come out looking like the professional if you stay calm. Let them show their true nature and hopefully it will help back you up and save you some money. I'm a buyer and I hate seeing a lot of you being scammed.

here is a scenario you have 2 identical perfectly cosmetic condition VHS machines.
1 plays perfectly and you are selling as perfectly working.
the other one is broken it refuses to hold the tape or starts to play and shuts down and is being sold for parts because you cant repair it.
you sell the perfectly working one but due to a mistake on your end maybe you did not mark the broken one or maybe someone else in the household does not know what one it is so they send the broken one.
the buyer claims it is broken.
how would you deal with that?
then before the first unit arrives at the buyers address you sell the second one
the buyer of the second one gets theirs and it works perfectly.
sometimes mixups happen even in the tracking system especially when drop shipping.
when it comes to clothing that can be tricky because there no longer a standard in the industry for sizong.
it used to be that large meant large but now one maker's large could be another makers extra large.
also i think there are certain clothing items that can not be sold on ebay due to sanitary reasons.

The trend is virtually everywhere. I just bought a laptop on Amazon, paid up front. 2 days later, the LLC contacts me stating they don't have the product in stock, won't be in for two more weeks but they'd sell me another one similar to it for the same cost, really? A month ago, paid 65K for a brand new 2019 RAM 1500 Limited, big mistake. I have had nothing but issues with this thing including UConnect infotainment problems (at times won't work at all) and major fitment problems such as the chrome moldings around the windows on both sides coming off and panel misalignment all over the truck. Been on the phone for hours trying to resolve these issues, no one seems to care as they have my money. Truth is, as long as people are involved, seller OR buyer, things will always happen. My feeling is that the way things are going in the world, few people, seller OR buyer, actually give a crap anymore. There is good and bad to buying online and for someone who has literally spent 500K in online sales I can say unequivocally that things have only become worse over the years...

I have won all my cases against scammers by always taking picture evidence of video games playing at different stages with screen shots uploaded on my listings and also have invisible uv pen markings on everything i ship, if a scammer returns a different item i can tell by the missing invisible ink when i shine my black light on returned items, upload pics and escalate on ebay and report buyers and block them and any negative feedback left by them is removed.

Do a tutorial on how to block a buyer. If you sense any hostility from a buyer looking to break you down with unreasonable counteroffers, decline their offer and BLOCK them right away! Do not give them the chance to get mad, buy it and return it. ALSO...just because you block a buyer does not mean they can't contact you with a "question." A block should include no ability to contact the person who blocked you.

I will show that evidence to ebay. One idiot tried this shit on me. Bought a video card, said it doesn't work, and wanted a 75% discount. I said hell no, send it back. He did, one of the caps was broken off. The card was packaged extremely well, and the shipping box was undamaged. He broke it off to get a discount. I resoldered it back on, tested and resold the card. I even got the shipping back from ebay and idiot had to swallow the shipping costs. Screw these people. Ebay ALWAYS sides with me, because i am detailed and always have photographic evidence with dates, time and i mark my items in hidden non damaging spots to make sure the actual item comes back. So i made a misyake and sent a buyer the wrong size curtain panel in a SET (2 PANELS) so they wanted to send back just the incorrect panel and have me send them the correct panel. Now i had given them a deal where i sold them the SET for the price of 1 panel because they werent selling well. They wanted me to pay for the shipping of the panels both ways. This would have cost me over $25. I explained to the that i wouldnt be able to do that because of the deal i had given them but I could give them a partial refund and they could keep the incorrect panel and sell it making back the entire purchase amount which would allow them to either purchase the correct panel from me or someone else. From the begining they were berating me, discussing hoe terrible a business owner I am, that I had no place on ebay or anywhere else conducting business. I tried to ignore it but then they started telling me if I didnt do it they would give me negative feedback. I explained to them I couldnt do it and that if they felt that they needed to give me negative feedback for giving them a deal and giving them a solution that paid for their entire order plus then go for it. They then finally said they would sens the whole thing back for a refund on the whole order. I agreed. Once they filed I sent the label, went on vacation, which they knew, put up the notice on ebay and thought everything was good. A day after I left they started in again with their same stuff. They said they would only be sending one panel and to send them the replacement. Howevwr never changed the return status to reflect that. When i returned from vacation thwre was only one panel in the box. I took pictures, i contscted ebay about their behavior towards me and filed. I contacted ebay 2 times, once ovwr the phone and througj email before the return window closed about the situation and submit the photos of the DAMAGED item they sent back. Now they never told me the item was damaged. Therefore i believe this was done on purpose. Do again I contacted ebay by phone. They told me to wait for email team. Silence. Ebays window closed. They gave them a full return on the set. They sided with the buyer. I have been fighting with ebay about this return for 2 weeks now. WTF?! What did I do wrong? How do u avoid this situation? This was a $70 order once you include the shipping both ways and now the item they sent back is damaged and unusable. They nevwr reported it damaged which means they clearly did this on purpose. Ebay just keeps saying " well thats a bummer, this can be the cost of doing business online." ....ummm....no.
