I'm looking forward to the Cancelled release. Dogs of War was cool. Fight for Your Right was ok. Motley is my favorite band of all time and I'm glad they're still writing and recording. I'd love to hear a full-length album, but I'll take an EP if that's what it is.
Let’s face it, their first 5 albums Too fast for love, shout at the devil, theatre of pain, Girls, Girls, Girls. And Dr. Feelgood were the best I feel everything after that didn’t catch my attention and it didn’t really have the potential and groove the other albums did
Agree with the comparison to Guns N Roses, both are at 16 years and counting since a new full length album was released. I liked Dogs Of War, but man that Beastie Boys cover made me cringe several times. I hope the title track is good since we're only getting a 3 song EP and not a full length which is disappointing.
Nick Mars was one of the greatest guitarist ever. And still is. Motley Crue would have been nothing without his guitar playing. Yeah Tommy Lee can play drums Vince Neil did have a voice back in the '80s early early '90s. But now what! Yes John 5 can play guitar good too. But Motley Crue to me is shout at the devil. That was the metal back when I was going to school
Record companies do not invest in producers for these bands. They're either on their own to get one or try to do it themselves. Which is why these 80s bands new music is pretty much unlistenable
"era of the single, era of the EP" Admittedly my favorite band Blind Guardian has been going on this path as well since five out of the ten tracks that they recorded for The God Machine album were released as singles (Violent Shadows, Merry Xmas Everybody cover, Deliver Us from Evil, Secrets of the American Gods, Blood of the Elves) but at least putting out five new songs alongside a follow-up album being worked on is better than this circus called Mötley Crüe.
Blind Guardian are at least operating on a much higher level than Motley Crue, but you’re 100% right. Look at the new Falling In Reverse (lol) disaster… 80% of the album was already released before it came out.
@@smirdge4719 The song is fine, but it's nothing great. I don't think it was worth paying full price for an EP with a previously released single and two live tracks in hindsight.
I wasn’t a big fan of Mötley Crüe. I like some of their early songs. I didn’t like Dogs of War. I'm not looking forward to this. Good point! Guns N' Roses should release a new album! I hate the new single trend. Have a rockin' weekend, Johnny Z! Cheers! 🤘🏼🍻
Their early stuff is by far their best work. Mick Mars was the band's biggest asset and now they don't even have him. I won't hold my breath for full length albums from either GNR or Motley Crue... GNR should just release all of the leftover Chinese Democracy tracks and get it over with, then they can focus on new stuff. Have a great weekend bro!
@@TheCDGuyJZ Yeah. That's funny because Mick's solo album was solid. 😂 I guess GNR can coast on the past, but it would be awesome to hear a new album! Cheers! 🤘🏼🍻
@@TheNothing6 I agree. Mick's solo album is one of my favorites of the year so far. GNR will probably just coast on Appetite for the rest of their careers, but they don't have to. AC/DC is a great example of a band that could've just coasted after Back In Black but never assumed that attitude.
@@TheCDGuyJZ Great point. It's amazing how much success GNR has with such a little discography. Riding those Appetite For Destruction coattails to the end! 🤣😂 Yeah, I liked Mick's album, too. You rule! Cheers! 🤘🏼🍻
The last time I saw Crue was on their "farewell" tour which had 100% reserved seating. Slipknot played the same stadium with festival (unreserved) seating. Crue has lost all legitimacy and street cred. They've just been about the $$$ for decades. Oh, and Dogs of War is awful.
They should’ve stopped after the farewell tour (aka when they signed a contract that legally bound them to retire lol). I agree, it’s all about the money at this point. Didn’t care for Dogs Of War at all either.
Mötley Crüe Goes Full Dork! Fight for your right is the most moronically imbecilic decision they could have made! A band that wrote so many fist pumping anthems like, Kickstart My heart doing a bromidic Beastie Boys cover is asinine. Back in the day if you brought Beastie Boys into a hard rock metal conversation, you were getting a beat down! ALSO, Motley Crue has a song called Fight for your Rights, which is what I thought the song might have been based on the title, or perhaps a newly written song. My thought was that there’s no way Motley Cue could ever do a cover of the Beastie Boys, who thought this was a good idea? Who said that this would be “cool”? Was this cooked up by a marketing person? “Motley Crue goes Dork!” Is what this album should be called! What’s next a cover of *Nsync’s “Bye Bye Bye” or Motley Crue does the best of Bread, maybe even a little Motley Crue feat. Puff Daddy “It’s all about the Benjamins”? You kick Mick out and try re-write his history in the band. But, then you also get John 5, an ace guitarist and songwriter and your best idea is to cover childish Beastie Boy song? Don’t be Pathetic Dorks, trying so hard to be cool and relevant; all have to do is just be Motley Crue.
I agree that John 5 is capable of bringing out the best in the band and they aren’t using him the best. Fight For Your Right is a fun cover live, but I didn’t see the point of releasing a studio version… it wasn’t a great cover to begin with.
its nikki trying to keep it hip and up with the style, he was more smart than real, he was great at acting like a tough guy/punk but was never authentic and you can hear that coming through their new 'keeping up with the trend' crap music
No doubt John 5 is a great guitar player. But he's not the guitar player they needed. They needed a balls out guitar player like Mick was. Anything they do now as new is basically gonna be crap. As long as you have Vince singing its not gonna be good
@@TheCDGuyJZ theres millions of other guitarists that could fill micks shoes, theyre trying to put jigsaw pieces together that dont fit, john is suited for industrial type rock, not solid riff stuff
It's not about music, it's 'bout getting rich. Getting rid of Mick, who seemed to be the only one with any brain was despicable. However, I love Theatre of Pain and the self titled. Love the sound on Theatre, it's like a garage band on that one. Use It or Lose It, Louder than Hell, Fight for Your Rights. Easily their best album with Vince, the first 2 are overrated. Let Us Prey, Rat Like Me, Rocketship, Anybody Out There? are underrated from album you know.
You’re 100% right about these bands getting corrupted… the worst part is it’s not even surprising. Their 80s output is legendary… no doubt about it. They start to lose me post Dr. Feelgood tho.
@@TheCDGuyJZ Anthrax's Sound of White Noise was great as was Crüe's 94 album. They were the only bands which infused some grunge into their sound successfully. Listening to some classic Twisted Sister (always loved them) right now. Can't really beat Dee as a frontman. Don't let me down, greetings from Finland.
In addition to the grunge infusion, another similarity between Sound Of White Noise and Motley 94 is the addition of new vocalists… the 90s was a hard reset for so many bands it’s hard to keep count. Twisted Sister are awesome! Never got to see them live, but Dee has still got it for sure. 🤘
@@TheCDGuyJZ I think I saw them about 5 times. The first one in Teatria, Oulu (2005) is of course the fondest. I couldn't believe that my childhood's hero was there like 5 feet away from me. Of course they started with What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You) and attacked the stage. Great lyric as always from Dee and that lovable punky attitude. I think Come Out and Play is a really underrated album. You Want What We Got and Leader of the Pack are shite, but otherwise it's fantastic. Title track, The Fire Still Burns and King of the Fools are sublime.
So cool that you were able to see them live so many times! I agree, Come Out And Play is very underrated… I think Out On The Streets could’ve been a big hit for them if they played their cards right at the time.

I’m apprehensive to think that sound will ever come back… they think they still sound like classic Crue, which is the worst part.
Releasing all the songs beforehand was stupid. Back in the day, yo, Led Zeppelin didn't release singles- so fans bought the albums instead.
For sure. The music business has changed and not for the better IMO
Even for an EP, 3 songs including 1 cover feels very underwhelming
