  • Today’s route was the Coledale Horseshoe in the Lake District. We added a few extra tops to the usual Horseshoe / Round which along with the snowy tops lead to another fantastic day out on the fells! #trailrunningcouple

      It’s just the type of terrain and conditions we can’t get enough of. Makes us feel like kids again 😂

    Very dramatic scenery. Well done. I don't know how you manage it in shorts. I'd be freezing.
    I stayed up late to watch your video. Thanks for all the filming lately. It's a pleasure to watch.

      Thank you so much, it’s strange really as neither of us were actually cold. I feel pants are a hindrance at times and better for wet and very windy weather (wind chill). Got some funny looks and comments though 😂
      It’s been a brilliant five days in the Lakes 😍

    Great route. Loving the vids as ever. Running my first ever fell race in March - the Coledale round - some tricky descending - run in to Braithwaite is properly slippy at the best of times!!

      Thank you and best of luck with the Coledale fell race. Bet it’s an amazing experience to do that route as a race. Definitely have to look at it for next year. Always a challenge staying on your feet coming down!! 😂

    Awesome run guys. I love running Coledale albeit i usually do it clockwise starting with Barrow. I also add on Wandope and Grassmoor like you did. I did do it starting with Grisedale Pike once, and it sure was a rude wakening starting with that slog!

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  7 месяцев назад +1

      It would be good to try it clockwise if only to avoid starting on Grisedale Pike as you say. Quite a pull up there isn’t it? 😂 Thanks for watching and taking time to comment 👍

    • @Julian-pj2zi
      @Julian-pj2zi 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@TrailRunningCouple yes it really is! I usually jog a mile up and back down the A66 from Braithwaite first as a short warm up but it's still a slog when hitting that uphill.

      It certainly feels like it’s never ending. Quite the drag indeed! The biggest all out ascent of the day so good to get it out of the way sooner rather than later. Thank you 👍

    You've put some quality miles in this week, one of my favourite rounds this but it's been a few years since i last done it, I'm gonna give this a blast again in the next month or so as I'm going to attempt the Tea Round at the end of April😳...Great vids by the way, keep them coming👏👏👌👍

    • @TrailRunningCouple

      Thanks so much. It’s the first time we’ve done the Coledale Horseshoe and won’t be the last. Brilliant round and a great way to see the latter half of the Tea Round. The Tea Round itself is epic, definitely one of our favourite routes which we’ll definitely do again this year. Tough as though!!! Best of luck 👍

    Amazing watch as usual guys. Quick question, where do you get your routes? Are they out of a book or GPX?

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Mark, we use GPX files. Well usually look for races, grab the GPX file and upload it to Plotaroute. From there we’ll tidy the lines up, change the route in part if we want and then add points of interest before exporting it back. We’ll then upload to our watches. We’ll also create routes from scratch too with Plotaroute. Great site 👍

    Really interested to know your choice of jackets and what shoes you use in your rotation? Cheers.

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  7 месяцев назад +1

      The jackets we wore this week were Montane Phase Nanos, we also have Montane Spine jackets too. Brilliant kit and really do an excellent job of keeping us dry (from the outside) and warm.
      Shoe wise, we both love Inov8 Trailfly G270’s which are great on most terrain, especially rocky stuff. They give a great ground feel when on technical downhills etc which is pretty important. For longer runs we may look towards Inov8 Trailfly G280 Ultras which have a similar grip but have a drop and more cushioning. For Lakeland 100 we wore Hoka Speedgoat 5’s which were excellent for the distance.
      Thanks 👍

      @steverichardson1918 7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks guys. I’m a bit of an Inov-8 fan myself so was interested in which models you preferred. I’ve got the South Downs Way 50 coming up in April so looking at my shoe options! Keep up the great work! Cheers, Steve (South West Runner on RUclips).

    Sounds abit of a stats exaggeration. Pretty sure it’s under 4000ft of ascent.

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks John, maybe that could be the case with the actual Horseshoe but we added a few more peaks, for example it was an 800ft climb to Grassmore which isn’t part of the actual Horseshoe.
      Plotaroute and OutdoorActive had it around 5200ft and our Garmin Enduro 2’s recorded the number stated 👍
