Well done guys you are phenomenal, was wonderful to see the snowy landscapes thank you! One race I swore I was going to burn all my running kit afterwards, so I did sympathise with Cheryl ... might have laughed a bit too! Henceforth if I have a bad spell and need to vent I'll let myself have a "Cheryl moment" and that should make it better :)
Haha, that was a tough day out in the snow. Very challenging. It’s a decent event made harder with the lack of aid stations but considering the area there’s not much that can be done about that. It kind of brings out ‘Cheryl moments’ in you!! 😂
That looked a very tough race, and as usual you guys did it. You are both fantastic, and an inspiration to us all. You have both worked very hard this year, and deserve a long rest for sure. Have a lovely Christmas break.
Would love to have a go on this one year , loved the vid and the ladies rant at the end was so true , when you have had enough , but you smashed it , well done , enjoyed the full film 👍👍👍😎
Absolutely brilliant, spectacular video, you must have got well chilled. Your partly responsible for inspiring me to enter my first trail marathon in January ( I will be 61).
Absolutely freezing at times though soon warmed up. Our kit was spot on and wouldn’t have changed a thing. Glad to hear to have a minor part to play in your running and all the best. I’m sure you’ll smash it 👍
Words fail me. The views looked stunning. The cold though. Well thats a big no no from me 😂. Maybe one day i could be talked into it......but not just yet. The logistics for me is enough to put me off at the moment. Any how well done again you two. I'm glad you enjoyed it and did fantastically well also. Medals to be proud of.
It’s a great event, very tough in places and so mentally demanding when you’re struggling to make progress as quickly as you want to. Yes it was cold but good layering and kit negates a lot of it though stopping at the second aid station and and taking our packs off to grab another later and upgrade the gloves caused us to become really cold. It took a good 10 to 15mins of moving to bring the temperature back to anything near ok!! Thanks Andy 👍
My emotions from watching the video went from '"beautiful crisp morning, running with friends. This is going to be awesome." to "looks like a tough challenge - but so rewarding." to "f*** that!" Well done to both of you for fighting and finishing. Rest up and get ready for 268 miles of Winter Spine ; )
Haha, I think we had the same emotions 😂 As for the Winter Spine? I’ll say never. I also said I wasn’t doing this event again either! Seriously though, the Spine is a different beast and would need some serious prep. Thank you so much 👍
Banging footage, with us both saying 'We ain't bloody doing that?' It was good seeing Cheryl losing it a bit, does make me.laugh, we've all been there regardless of length or terrain. Thanks for being great as per usual
Thanks both, it was horrendous at times. So mentally draining though it was only mental strength keeping us going at times. It felt like our bodies had just given up! Never say never though 😂 Appreciate your comments 😊
Amazing scenes with the sunrise ,, Thanks for recording that. I am sure most of us felt your pain on the monotonous night legs .. what a team .. well done and enjoy the break until 2024 😉
Thanks, it was like trudging through sand at points. That said, the visuals were epic so took our minds away for periods of time. Got really difficult overnight though. Appreciate your comments 😊
We were up in that part of the world on Saturday for a hike.started at Hethpool and headed up towards The Shil before heading back down. That was just 11 miles and it felt like 20 with all that snow. So for you both to run that distance in that time in those conditions is truly incredible almost incomprehensible! Congratulations to you both and hope you have a well earned relaxing Christmas.
Thank you so much! Your day sounded great, what with the weather we had and the views. Amazing wasn’t it? Definitely made it tough going but have some great memories. Fortunately we seem to forget the bad parts quite quickly 😂 All the best and hope you have a fantastic Christmas too 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple can I just ask what do you use for food/energy when you are doing these events? I know there were a couple of aid stations on route but that cannot be enough to keep you moving for 20 hours non-stop.
@@martinl2325 I’ve been struggling to each sandwiches later on in a long run due to my mouth becoming so dry so changed the thicker bread to something easier to eat. We took a couple of milk roll sandwiches with chicken, bacon and mayonnaise as the filling. We also have small soreens, packets of strawberry covered in white chocolate, snickers, cliff shot blocks and flapjack. From aid station 1 we took a cup of soup with a bread roll and from aid station 2 a packet of crisps and a coffee. Probably didn’t eat enough but doing better than I used to so less crashes due to lack of nutrition.
Brilliant video and wel done to both of you it looked cold.one question please did all your kit work for you or would you change anything in the future please.
Thank you so much. Kit wise I think it was perfect. Wouldn’t change a thing. Yes we got cold but only when we stopped but that’s to be expected. Once going again we warmed up so happy with our clothing and shoe choices.
Good decision to take a bit of a break from the long stuff, you've been doing a lot of them lately! Let the body recoup and come back stronger. Great effort finishing this one, looked like a rough night.
Thanks Jess, feeling tired but isn’t a surprise as we’ve done quite a bit this year. Definitely need to wind it back a little and look at our structure. Winter is a great time to build a good base.
I can honestly say I did not envy you that one. What a slog that must have been. Torture to be honest. The cold and the ice and the wet feet and the dark. You are a tough couple! I look forward to your videos in the new year. Have a great Christmas!
All self inflicted torture. I think we both questioned why we were doing it at times! Still, in it for the finish and unless it was serious then a finish we were getting. So glad we stuck it out. Thank you very much 😊
Told you that you would smash it well done both of you - that looked brutal - lol Cheryls rant sorry but it did make me laugh - have a chilled out Xmas and New year x
Haha, I reckon most will have lost it at some stage during that horrendous route. Looking back though we absolutely loved it! Thank you and all the best 😊
Awesome footage! I would be worried about soaked shoes / wet feet for 15 plus hours. Did you change shoes / socks at the first aid station (drop bag)? Your view on (not) wearing goretex shoes? Any experience with wearing sealskinz (or similar) socks?
Thank you. No we didn’t change shoes or socks. Didn’t have drop bags either. We used Inov8 Extreme Thermo Neoprene socks. They let small amounts of water in so not entirely waterproof but they do stop your feet from getting too cold. That’s the issue for us, not wet feet. That doesn’t bother us. Goretex shoes in our opinion aren’t a good choice as they don’t let water out fast enough. Good socks and fast draining shoes would be the best bet. We’ve also worn Sealskins socks and find them ok too. Thanks again 👍
Thanks so much, a rest really does need to happen! It’s been a hard year and I think we’re both feeling the effects. Hopefully catch up with you both soon 👍
Congratulations to all! Thanks for letting me tag along. Keep trail running fr$$!
Thank you for watching and taking time to comment. Much appreciated 👍
Another awesome race guys. Looks like a tough race, but fantastic views. Well done.
Thanks very much. Definitely a tough race and very different to last years. Took everything we had again to get the finish!

Thank you, I won’t lie, it was a struggle!! 👍
Amazing effort and a fantastic video. Thank you.
Thank you for watching, appreciate it 😊
Loved the video. Cheryl's rant on Dunmoor hill was fab. No more running until the next time!?!
Haha, she went off on one. Had to make sure I didn’t say anything wrong at that moment! 😂 Thank you for watching, appreciate it 😊
I laughed out loud at that rant. Brilliant! 😂
Great video as always. Chery's rant at 19 min a classic!
Thanks so much! Funny 😂

Thank you so much Paula! Wishing you and your family a great Christmas 🎄
Awesome video. Looked amazing/tough onditions, well done to both of you . Proper hardcore 💪💪
Thanks Johnny, it was as much a mental effort as physical. Appreciate you taking time to comment 👍
Would love to have a go on this one year , loved the vid and the ladies rant at the end was so true , when you have had enough , but you smashed it , well done , enjoyed the full film 👍👍👍😎
Thanks very much Mark. It’s a great event which we’ve done twice now. Entries are open for 2024. Tempted!! 👍

What an epic outing that was. Blow the cobwebs away 💪👊🫶
Thanks Calvin, tough day out!
Coomb Fell......then Dunmoor Hill. Feeling your pain. Had a good laugh at the rant though. Well done you two.
Lots of pain to be felt, definitely ok with sharing it 😂 That was a hard day out and so glad to see the Ingram sign by the end! Thanks 😊
What a fantastic video. You captured the scenery and the spirit of the event perfectly.
Thank you Barry. It’s a tough event to test not only your endurance but mental strength too. We’ve never been so glad to see the Ingram sign 😂

Wow tough event that ! Huge respect to you both! Well done 👏👏👏
Thanks Ian, extremely tough which turned into a mental game just to get to the end. Appreciate your comments 👍

Thank you, appreciate it 😊
You did such awesome job👍👍👍The views are simply incredible. Both of you are excellent 💯💯👍👍

Well done guys . Fantastic effort in tough conditions .
Thanks Ken, appreciate it 👍
Amazing effort guys! Thje route looks stunning, winter wonderland proper. Your knowledge of the hills and their names is impressive!
Thank you so much 😊
Well done both. You're dead right, the snow looks beautiful but it makes for very hard going. Great achievement to get round.
