Whites learned, long ago, that Black haircare is HUGE business. I wonder whether they set-up Black companies, by having white women review and post against them, in order to buy them cheaply
That first controversy with Linda Lynn was enough for me. Going through all their orders just to find her address and phone number, then have her husband harassing a client, a man intimidating a woman. All because someone made a review online and they didn’t like it. I doubt she was the first or only person to review a Mielle product and not like it. She should have reported and sued them for harassment.
Yes, that was a lot. Linda Lynn didn’t drag the company or them personally she just said the rice water products weren’t for her. I don’t understand how they expect everyone to like all of their products
It was so ghetto and then she proceed to go on Instagram live and continue to drag the girl and talk about God and haters! Like, what? Prior to Linda's video there were so many influencers that made videos dragging that rice water line and for whatever reason she just became fixated on Linda's video.
@@agbk2189that’s the type of thing that happens now that social media has allowed these hood rats who have no business acumen become successful! Half of these girls have no business running a company!
My primary reasons for buying black owned brands 1) generally better ingredient quality formulated for coily, kinky & curly hair 2) financially empower other Black people. Once either of these change I no longer support the company.
What does "formulated for coily, kinky, & curly hair" even entail though? Hair is hair (keratin). It's just the shape that really differentiates what it looks like. Most important thing for me has basically been understanding my hair porosity (low). Like the whole alleged curly "sulfate-free" propaganda does not work for me.
@Naomi-gr7fm It means it's more hydrating better for kinky hair than "regular" products/products that are in MOST places. Suave, aussie, head & shoulders conditioner, etc... prevent my hair from forming it's curls/it just does not work for me. I use head & shoulder anti fungal shampoo on scalp and face, then use scented shampoo, softening with vitamins conditioner, and maybe after my hair is a bit wet I will style with gel. They definitely changed the rosemary mint drop formula... 😓
I’m good on using her products. The reason behind that is because when I saw that she sold it to a white person that told me that the products ingredients was about to change. Look at how when BET was bought by a white company. It’s now tacky ratchet stripper show. When I saw that white women were using this line. I knew that the products were also going to have to be altered so that their hair can handle the product did not fall out or dry out. With them catering to people of the Caucasian hair strands that’s going to hurt Black people, hair, strands, or mixed Black people. I can use other that targets, Caucasian nationality or even the Asian nationality. I have to be careful about some of those products because it can cause my hair to shed. when black products that was designated for black hair switch, that’s when it can cause a lot of hair fall out or even baldness. Be careful everybody!
The products use to be amazing. They caused my hair to dry and break. They should have released more products catered to yt people instead of changing the original.
Ladies I’m sorry to hear about your experience with MieLLE hair products… I have alopecia and I make a ALL NATURAL hair oil. Not for Alopecia, but it will grow your hair
I lost interest in supporting black owned businesses once I realized their products weren’t necessarily better than what was already on the market, and I noticed that their prices didn't go down after they were bought out to a larger company. I don’t really use any commercial hair or skin care products anymore because I'm tired of all the formula changes. I just make some DIY stuff and call it a day.
I just made a comment about that I make my own products too! I love making my own products from my kitchen. A lot of these hair care products contains bad chemicals and ingredients I can’t even read even if I tried lol The only product I haven’t mastered yet was creating my own hair moisturizer. Once I master that, I’ll be a completely DIY Queen 😂
Yes as of late there have been alot of formula changes this is why I stick to basics and ol school products like grease. I don’t have money to waste anymore
I am switching to the Ayurvedic products. I am doing my research. So far, they don't have the chemicals that the commercial products have. But you have to do your homework and research them and learn what each product is supposed to do, and then use them in the correct amounts and the correct way. I am tired of these Black companies getting rich off of us, then selling to these white companies for a profit, leaving us with hair setbacks. We work hard to take care of our hair, then, boom...these products are causing setbacks. I feel betrayed and used.
Never used Mielle but I’ve heard mixed reviews about the products I personally prefer to stick to my old products like blue magic. You can’t go wrong with it.
J. Strickland products like Blue Magkc is not black owned. You're better off going with Murray's Cocosoft. It's pretty much the same. It comes in three scents only, but it's black owned.
Blue magic and castor oil grew my edges from bald and tension alopecia to peach fuzz and inch long strands in 3 months. My hair at the roots have grown in thicker too. And, I stopped wearing weaves and crochet braids every 6-8 weeks. I've done a weave style 3 times in 8 months. My hair is 1999 thriving! ❤❤❤
I make my own products. From my own hair cleanse rinse all the way down to my own hair mask. I buy Rosemary plants and peppermint plants and Aloe Vera plants from a nursery to do my DIY. It’s also a great idea to propagate your plants to have plenty of them.
@@myahnombreI couldn’t agree more! I do it because I know what exactly is in the things I make. A lot of hair care products contains ingredients I can’t even pronounce lol
A lot of “black” hair care products are overpriced just because they know products geared towards textured is limited. They’re really exploiting black women when it comes to our hair. Just use quality moisturizing products and products that’s best for your hair porosity and you should be fine
Not really, black hair products are around $15, they have more slip and formulated for black hair. I used to use Pantene prov, but many mainstream products have silicones and parabens
Yup that’s why the stylists charge a lot of money for doing black hair in cities that lack a black culture such as Irvine and Seattle because they know getting kinky hair done is NOT ACCESSIBLE
@@Raray200 Pantene may not be a good product however Aussie has some very moisturizing conditioners and products. There’s plenty of naturals on YT with healthy hair down their backs from using it. I’m sure there are other reasonably priced products that’s great for naturals. But you’re right about certain ingredients that’s the ket knowing what your hair needs and likes
That’s not necessarily true. All small indie brands, Black ones included, have to charge a certain price for their products because the ingredients cost them more if they’re using higher quality ingredients and they don’t have the same ability to produce larger quantities like big corporations such as p & g. That’s why the people who sell shea butters etc at local festivals charge more because of the time it takes them to produce the products out of their kitchens. Once they become a mid sized business they now have to pay for larger space such as a factory and pay staff to scale up and make more products. When they become a big brand like Mielle you can’t just magically cut costs because now you’re mass producing. Although it sucks when Black businesses eventually sell, it usually is their only option if they want their brand to go global because it becomes very expensive trying to scale a business. At each stage of your business you now accrue more items to pay for (i.e staff, insurance, packaging, events, marketing, etc.) when you might’ve started out with one little product and yourself. P&G can produce products for much less than smaller brands because they have the financial backing to do so. This is the reality of being a business owner. And that’s why eventually, almost all small brands, not just Black ones, sell when they get to a certain point. You don’t have to continue to support them but at least know the reasoning why their products cost more.
@@Sparkle-ey7iw I used to use Aussie in college, I noticed the ingredients were full of chemicals and parabens. I stopped using it and found that some black products had less chemicals and more natural ingredients and more slip!
Not these companies copy & pasting Shea Moistures strategy on the early 2010s. I never felt drawn to them because their imagery excludes a lot of kinky tight textured hair types.
The Pomegranate & Honey line works wonders on my 4C hair. I still use it today. Like the commentator stated; what works for me may not work for everyone. I am still a customer.
This happens with almost every Black owned hair care company today. They get massive support from Black women and once the brand takes off it’s the mega companies take notice. They want in and offer a hefty sum to buy out their companies. I respect a business decision, however, I now believe the goal for most new black hair startups is to get to the corporate level. I used to support Carol’s daughter and shea moisture when they first launched in NYC. They were in very few stores and it felt exclusive. I supported them for many long years. They’ve since sold the companies and changed the formulas. You can now find them in TJ Maxx and Marshall’s. The Mane Choice (supported her when she shipped from home) has done the same thing. I, too, have noticed the change in Miele Organics products. My hair was super dry and shedding after using the rosemary mint collection. I returned them to the store. I’m over supporting this trend of high priced products that are sold to the highest bidder and know nothing about our hair.
Also a lot of times the black original owners don't necessarily want to sell but the big conglomerates will bully them into selling. They make it harder for them to get the ingredients and make it hard for them to have different distribution channels, so they end up having to sell it if it's going to continue to be profitable.
@MsLPJ my question is why cant the pro black elites or pro black social justice warriors buy these black owned brands ....coz I don't understand why we see pro black social justice warrior preach about we want black owned products but yet do not buy them and expand...coz it seems this wokism is just all hymns but no action.
Procter & Gamble owns majority of Mielle Organics. They're going to use the same ingredients that they use for their other hair care products such as Pantene, Aussie, Herbal Essence etc. They did the same thing to the brand My Black is Beautiful. Inflating the prices of the product and no longer delivering the products the consumers originally have grown to love. Any time a big corporations buys out a business like that the big corporation has the finally say. Procter & Gamble saw that women of all the cultural backgrounds buying out that oil and now Mielle is not an exclusive Black Owned Hair Care brand. I worked for corporations like P&G for years.
@trawlins396 Unilever owns Nexxus alongside 400 other brands like Dove, Axe, Magnum Ice Dessets, Degree &, etc. There are 10 big corporations that we all consume from that own all these other brands. The monopolization is crazy amongst these corporations. Brands you'd always thought were their independent brands are owned by one the 10 big corporations.
@trawlins396 It's just all about money. And honestly, people are tired of being scammed out of their hard-earned money. But we gotta stop falling for the same tricks. They market everything towards women & children because that's where all their revenue comes from. Women are the top consumers & they've found ways to market, advertise, & manipulate people into overspending on things we don't need. That's why Target does so well.
Same! I no longer use Carol's Daughter, Shea Moisture, or The Mane Choice - and I really loved the products from The Mane Choice. I use certain products from Design Essentials, Curls, Doux, and Camille Rose. If any of those companies are sold to wyt companies, I'll stop using them also.
I remember all these incidents. I make my own growth oil with olive, grapeseed, castor, peppermint, tea tree and lavender oil sprinkled with fresh rosemary and fenugreek and moringa. But every once in a while I use Mielle’s deep conditioner that’s it. In the past I bought the whole line and my hair thrived off of it.
@@CoffeeCuties777 I watched curly Proverbs old videos and she showed her viewers how to mix and make their own deep conditioner, oils and pre-poos. It’s really easy. The oil I make I gave two jars of it to my boss and her edges grew back in just three months. Her edges were gone (she shaved them) I gave her the oil in June and now it’s August and she has full blown out edges. I knew the oil did its job but I am still amazed!
@@CoffeeCuties777 Just get a mason jar and pour all the ingredients in it. You can 1) either put it in a dark closet for a month to naturally fuse together or 2) double boil the oil in the jar if you can’t wait and want to use it immediately.
It's usually best when you make your own. Every. Single. Time. products get sold to larger companies and the formula changes to be more 'inclusive', but it just ends up excluding the original target market. So....back to square 1.
I stopped using Mielle when they had a sale in 2020. I didn’t receive all the products I ordered and they sent me empty bottles. I called the company several times and they never answered. I emailed, but no response, so I was left with missing products and empty bottles. I went to the Better Business Bureau to leave a review and saw that the majority of the reviews were like mine. Missing products, empty bottles and no responses. That told me all I needed to know when it came to the company. They did not care about their customers. I have not given them one dime of my money since then, nor did I use the few products I ordered.
I'm still using the mielle pomegranate and honey line. It's still banging. I will say I was disappointed that she sold. I am happy that ww particularly don't use anything else outside of the oil. So the formula hasn't changed thank God. I'll use it til "they" catch on. Once that formula changes I'm out.
I do remember when the influencer was attacked by Michelle Rodriquez husband. I don't how much truth it is but I did hear this. I used the Babasu and Mint conditioner which I did like at the beginning. I did experience some weird stuff happening from the pomergranite cream so i left it alone. I just found other products that my hair enjoys and I also do a lot diy. It's easy to make your own rosemary and mint oil at home ladies if you want to take the time. Just a thought. Everyone has different experiences with products but I hope her product didn't change when she sold the company which is sometimes the case. Great discussion.
Out of curiosity, what was your experience with the pomegranate cream? I'm trying to find out if something that happened with my hair stemmed from that product.
@DS-nh4gu My hair texture seemed like it was changing. My hair is very kinky beyond 4C and the product was making my hair way too soft to the point it looked straightened l this helps.
I use Aussie Haircare. The only thing I have from them (Mielle) that I use is their ginger overnight mask. That’s IT! “Black products” are so unnecessarily expensive.
🙌🏾 I love Aussie, and you are so right, I don’t understand the price difference in black products. It’s ridiculous to pay so much for just shampoo and conditioner. Hair care is way overpriced when it is marketed to black women
Yea I tried the rosemary growth oil when it first dropped (before it expanded)-my scalp was itchy and felt like it was on fire after washing it out my scalp was inflamed 😢
Chile, for the most part, I make my own hair products with the stuff I grow in my garden, the only thing I would probably still buy is brown protein, gel and cocoa butter lotion to add as a emulsifier.
I just love when I see other people commenting that they make their own products! Me too! I get my plants from a nursery and propagate them as well. People just don’t know how beneficial it is to just make your own stuff. It doesn’t even take that much time to whip up a batch either.
@@chanellie86 that's right! I feel a sense of satisfaction and self sufficiency when I look at my garden and see everything I can make natural skin and hair products with. I love it!
Why do people think a person has to keep a company they created? I don’t even use this. I make my own stuff. At the end of the day it’s our choice to what brand we use. Just like it’s the owner’s choice to keep, or sell a company to anyone who offers the most amount. It’s business! More power to her. I hope she got enough for at least 2 generations in her bloodline. 🤷🏽♀️
My hair fell out 2 years ago and i thought it was postpartum, and from getting my hair done and braids being too tight. My hair broke off so bad I was ready to shave it off. I didnt, and wore wigs for a while. I was definitely using Mielle products because i loved the smell. I stopped using it and now my hair is starting to florish again. Glad all this is coming out and this could have contributed to my hair breaking off/damage.
I feel like i’m one of the few people that preferred the light version of the rosemary oil. For some reason fine and low-density haired naturals are ALWAYS ignored by natural hair companies. I cannot even use the Camille’s rose brand out side of the but gel, because their products are so heavy. Not every black worn is going thick, high density hair strands
I started making products around 2010 but got discouraged. I learned that a lot of these black owned product companies that create these products, their plan all along is to get to a place where they can eventually sell the company.
I use the rosemary and mint shampoo and I tried to branch out to some of their other lines but this explains why I’ve been so disappointed with them. I was just thinking I need to switch back to what I know next wash day. I’m glad I came across this video
hmmm, you are on to something here. I stopped using their products because I did not get either a good cleanse (product sat on my scalp along with natural oil build-up) or it felt matted and dry. I switched to products from the Taliah Waajid haircare line. It has been amazing for my hair! Thanks for sharing!
Never got the chance to use this product I remember the growth oil being viral and everytime I went to the beauty supply store or Walmart to buy it they were out of stock , so I started using Camille rose and boyyyyyy let me tell you ….. my hair had grown so much and I’m obsessed with this product it’s like crack for my hair
@@CoffeeCuties777 I use the curl love hair moisturizer, and the cocoa nibs and honey Hair oil but and the Aloe Vera braid and scalp spray, over ALLLLLL of these products that braid and scalp spray and the oil made my hair grow like it it was on crack , used it for 2 months while my hair was in faux locs and my hair GREW like crazy the moisturizer it’s just to keep my hair moisturized but those 2 together, you won’t even need anything else
When I was a product junkie back in the day I spent a lot of money on products from Aunt Jessie's, Carols Daughter, Uncle Funkys, Shea Moisture, Curls, Eco styler gel(the various colors and intensity), and a countless amount of oils, butters, deep conditioners, etc and I found out it was all overrated. The OG products that I still use on my type 4c hair is Cantu(shampoo, leave-in, styling cream, and edge gel as needed), African Pride oil, and black caster oil. I dont go overboard with products and i no longer jumo on the hair products bandwagon
I've never been a super fan of the black beauty brands they don't really work for my hair. I prefer professional shampoo and conditioner products and dominican deep conditioners. They're available in large sizes. What I like about black brands are the serums, Kaleidoscope serum grows my hair. Mielle rosemary mint serum also grew my hair
I understand what others are saying, and I pray they can turn their hair issues around, but I love the Mielle pomegranate line. It makes my hair feel so soft and manageable. 🤷🏾♀️🙏🏾💯
Ok Im glad algo put this video in my feed! Ive tried several Mielle products and really didn't experience the amazing results everyone else seemed to!! I always get a sticky result or a dried out finish...I just thought it was me, that I didn't know how to use it. But when u stated others had results that were also dry and matted, that hit home!
I use Mielle products; however, I don’t consistently use the products, because it does have the tendency to be drying to my hair. I find that I have to change products often and revisit them later. Coincidentally, I used the Mielle shampoo and conditioner and curling custard on this profile picture. I was pleased with the products at that time.
@@CoffeeCuties777 the twisting butter in Sweet Almond and Honey. Over the years I've tried so many different natural hair care products (popular brands) and let me tell you the majority on the market are garbage. Simplicity is Key, find a moisturizer, find a good oil to lock it in and that's it (other than shampoo and conditioner), my hair has been thriving without all the nonsense the natural hair community encourages you to do. You wanna grow long hair, put it in braids for a year, leave it for 1 month, let it rest for a week and then repeat. The main thing is making sure your scalp is clean, your hair is moisturized and the hairstyle isn't causing too much tension.
I've tried a lot of these blk product lines and they weren't good for my hair and my hair didn't like them. I went back to using products I started with at the beginning of my natural hair journey; Creme of Nature Argon Oil line, Cantu, and VO5 conditioners like Split Ends Formula, Dry Scalp Formula before it was discontinued.
My daughter uses Mielle Rosemary & Mint shampoo and leave-in. She seems to like it and goes back to it. I tried another Mielle product a few years ago and it was just meh for me. Carol’s Daughter was my jam when my hair was relaxed but I haven’t used it in years. It’s hard being a product junkie in this day and age. I want to try different things but money is precious and I get tired of experimenting on myself. With my skin condition, I have to use an anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner, which is KeraCare then I use Hawaiian Silky as a leave in followed by The Doux Big Poppa for wash and go’s. For twist-outs I use Tgin. So far so good. I like the results I’m getting. I’m trying to use everything up before I go trying a different leave in. It’s tough dealing with a skin condition because I don’t know what products will cause it to flare up.
Hey sorry your going through this, I know how it feels. One of the things that helped me is I stopped putting any oil on my scalp completely - research the correlation between oil, even natural sebum and scalp conditions For a period of time I used a clarifying shampoo on my SCALP not hair strands regularly to remove the oil, shampoo with salicylic acid or good. Also look into "glycolic acid toner" for the scalp Also with my wash and goes I would dry my hair, I used a blow dryer until I got my hooded one. Look into the effects of water on the scalp and hair shaft for long period of time I hope you find some relief ❤❤
I am so shocked and glad to come across this story!! I thought it was me going through the change with hair thinning and shedding seen every time that I washed my hair. Now, I am sure going through the change has some influence but when I stopped using these products, I have noticed improvement with shedding!!
I’m sorry you had to go through this smh 🤦🏾♀️ please click the notification on the pinned comment in the comment section…I’m going live TONIGHT to discuss all of this 🤎🤎🤎
I still use the Babassu oil and mint deep conditioner. I’ve been using it for years. I don’t see any changes in that particular product. I also use the rosemary oil.
I use this line (the rosemary mint formula), the shampoo, conditioner and oil along with bantana oil. My hair grows very fast with this combo. Haven't had any tangling or matting issues. I'm super surprised to hear this. I'm also disappointed to hear they sold it to P&G.
And their Black Friday sale is amazing! I stocked up on the $10 items. I bought the hydrating spray and it arrived empty because it spilled out in the box. They sent a new one out the same day and I received it the next day. Great customer service.
I treat my hair like a person. She even has a name. As of right now, my hair loves Mielle. I will not take the risk of trying another product if my hair shows she loves the product. So until my hair lets me know she no longer rocks with Mielle, Mielle products is what I will continue to buy for her. Everyone's hair is different, and if their hair is showing them that they need to stop using the product, than its best to stop. Do whatever makes your hair happy
I’ve just been using actual natural ingredients for the past couple of months. I followed a recipe for black soap shampoo and I haven’t looked back since. I finally realized that there is not a single commercial product that can clean my scalp and keep it from itching afterwards. AND give my hair the moisture it needs. I keep my routine as simple as possible including simple ingredients. Black soap shampoo with fenugreek powder, vitamin E oil (near pure), vegetable glycerin, essential oils: lavender/peppermint/tea tree Aztec clay + ACV has also been extremely helpful and gives me amazing results when it’s followed by the mayo deep conditioner recipe Deep condition with mayo, egg, fenugreek powder, vitamin E oil. Gonna try another recipe with avocado/banana/okra to compare. Finish it all off in some twists with water and just castor oil or a Chebe + Castor oil hair grease I found on Amazon. A true classic MVP is the Wild Growth hair oil. IFYKYK. I should’ve never stopped using that lmao wayy better results than the Mielle Rosemary oil even though I really did love the rosemary when it first came out despite the itching💀
I buy whatever works best for my client needs. I buy her stuff from time to time. That custard is really good for braid downs and twist outs(on wigs #respectfully😅).. Edit: Glad to see us finally on board with making our own products. It’s too easy, time to get back to the good ole days! Our grannies and mamas showed us the way. We got this ❤ When I was buying pre treatments & sprays etc.. I knew I was doing too much😩💯 I’ll stick with Creme of Nature’s Intensive shampoo/conditioner line. That has always been and still is my go to when my hair needs a revamp. Thanks for the reminder💯
My daughter and I were using the shampoo and conditioners for a bit but then my daughtet started getting dry patches on her scalp and my hair started to get super dry. I use Design Essentials and TGIN now.
Mielle Organics been canceled for me from how they handled the Linda Lynn situation. I've never purchased or used her products because of that. Completely turned off. Now I'm seeing her products damaged people's hair.
I DIY all my hair care with the exception of deep conditioner. Ive never used Mielle but I knew when it hit the market that it was not at all organic. Big misnomer.
I really want to learn how to diy my hair products…if you are interested in going live to talk about it with some other ladies in the future…please email me at coffeecuties777@gmail.com 🤎
Rancid rotten cheap stinky soybeans/soy oil as a primary base infused with rosemary and mint to mask the smell that's why I didn't fancy it! I'm on my kosher, non GMO, organic. As for me soy doesn't do it! I need soy free foods and products. There's better out there on the market. 😏👏
The Mielle pomegranate line and Braggs ACV were staples… once Braggs sold, my ACV stopped work the same and caused dryness. Then Mielle started to dry my hair out. This last wash day my hair was so dry and tangled that I had a lot of breakage. It felt like I had gotten in a swimming pool. Shopping for new products to use now.
5:19 that’s when I refuse to the support they brand. Til this day I don’t buy anything from that brand. Even that oil. I took a photo of the ingredients and made my own.
@CoffeeCuties777 don't judge me, lol, but whatever shampoo and conditioner combo that Sam's Club has reasonably priced. So right now, it's herbal essence, the rose and argan oil one. I make my own rosemary and lavender oil using Whole Foods essential oils and jojoba oil and use all over my body. My hair is long, thick and healthy. No cap. It's simple.
@@peacebalance8067that's absolutely true. I've heard top beauticians say all ANY hair type needs is shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner and a good oil. And a good mask every two weeks.
@@CoffeeCuties777I rarely see anyone talk about Nexxus or Paul Mitchell now, but their products have always performed. Paul Mitchells "The Conditioner" is the best you'll ever get.
I have locs and I recently have used Mielle 's Mongongo oil exfoliating shampoo and I absolutely love this product. It has an amazingly, pleasant smell and it makes my locs feel so soft. Previously. my hair felt so rough. Typically you are not supposed to use a conditioners with locks but I am going to take down my locs so I'm not concern about slippage.
Yes! My hair matted & clumped it took 2 deep conditioning treatments just to be able to manage my hair 😖it was horrible!! The packaging is sooo nice and high end also the product smelled sooo good! I used the pomegranate line
I have 4c/4b hair and had the same experience with the pomegranate line. It's so bad I'm throwing it away. I dont want to risk it messing up anyone else's hair.
A friend gave me a trial sachet of rice water mask - really agrees with my hair - "4b and 4c", I guess, so I bought a full-size recently and use it every two weeks. No over-investment in any brands or 'lines' - I learned my lesson🎉
Mielle dried my hair out! Never again. I use Carol’s Daughter still. My favorites are the Black Vanilla hair gel and the Goddess Curl rinse out conditioner and hair mask ❤ Camille Rose is good too.
Thank you for the update! I used this line in the past faithfully after cutting my Loxs & these products helped my hair flourish the most! I will not revisit after this info!
The products were never stellar to begin with….everything I tried from the brand I eventually gave away. The products are extremely glycerine heavy and don’t work well if you live in a dry climate. I switched to Innersense and higher quality products and my hair is thriving
I definitely think environment plays a role but I haven’t heard great reviews about Innersense either. I will be discussing it on my live with afrikan hair god on Monday 🤎
@@CoffeeCuties777 well I can say that I use the I Create Hold paired with I Create Curl Memory from Innersense. The shampoo was ok and I like the Curl control cream and I Create Volume. The products have a learning curve with water ration similar to Uncle Funkys
I have dense low porosity hair and it tends to feel hard. I stopped using the rosemary products because I was getting massive protein overload. I switched to the sea moss line for shedding and I love it. It makes my hair so soft and it does shed less. I also gave it to my bf, who is white/Hispanic, and it helped his hair stop shedding noticeably. Nothing else was working for him and I told him to give it a try. Use what works for you. Something in that rosemary line is just too potent. I will use the rosemary strengthening mask after a deep condition just to balance it back out, but that's the only time.
Thank you for this video. I feel seen finally. I tried out their products. Putting my full trust from all the reviews. However I used the mint rosemary shampoo and the mask for a full month and I lost so much body in my hair plus the shedding breakage during my careful finger detangling really made me so scared. The only result I got was a less itch scalp which was the objective. But my poor hair suffered. I couldn't find a single review that agreed with my experience. Thank you for bringing this to light. Stick to my homemade products plus shea moisture from now on
Oh i like the peppermint rosemary scalp oil. i like the cooling feeling i use it to oil my scalp before washing. But you may have a point there is nothing other than the oil that i have used that has wowed me. but every hair line has a staple or 3 and i do love her scalp oil i have bought it 3 or 4 times now. I have tried almost all the products in the Canada walmarts and the only one i continued to go back for was the scalp oil edit* not me at the 5-6 min point hearing the oil controversy☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠😭

The problem is when it no longer had “organics” on the label. I have a pic of when I bought the line back in 2015 it said Mielle Organics now it just says Mielle
I used the rosemary product on my child’s hair and regretted it. My child’s hair became extremely dry and matted. I thought I would have had to cut off the hair. It took me FOREVER to untangle the hair but not without some hair loss. Needless to say, I threw the product out and that was the end of me using anything from that product line again. I truly feel that the formula(s) in the products have changed since when they first came out when I myself used to use it.
I just recent purchased from Amazon the Coil Sculpting Custard and the Leave in Conditioner Red label bottle of Mielle and the condioner and the custard both left my hair very dry and brittle. I had quite a bit of hair in my comb. I greased my scalp with castor oil and saturated my hair because it is very dry from that product. Im glad I saw this video. Thank you
ok i have to comment as i dont usually do so. I have noticed a huge difference in the moisture of my hair & scalp. I have been using several of the Pomegranite line products. I thought it was ME or MY hair changing, Now that i see this video i am convinced that its not my imagination. I mean i was stocking up on the products on Amazon,,,,,again i didn't put 2 +2 together. okay so its a break up for me. I had been recovering my hair growth from drastic hair shedding during Covid. I cant afford any issues with my hard earned midback lengthh tresses or my sky high fro.
@@CoffeeCuties777 first I had to find a good moisturing shampoo and conditioner line: Bond Bar by Sally’s and went back to my old faithful Taliah Waajid Aloe&Apple Curl Definer cream
Is it me or our hair suffered when we were told 2 demonize grease and use shea butter. Grease made us wash our hair...now we got cowashes. If we shampooed we wudnt have all those products and problems.
I just recently (in the last 6 months) tried Mielle products. The hair oil and the deep conditioning mask both burned my scalp. I did NOT use them at the same time, tried just one at a time to test each one. They were a complete miss for me. I used to use Carol's Daughter (dries my hair out now); used to use Shea Moisture; used to use Mane Choice. None of these brands work for me anymore, they don't work for my children anymore. I'm feeling kinda desperate 😬
I don't use any oils by black owned companies anymore. Mielle drops made my hair stick together like super glue. These companies are using the same oils mixed together. Me and my sister used another oil wild growth and it made our hair stick together like glue the same way. My sister had to cut her hair off because it was in braids when she used it. Her braids wouldn't come out because they were stuck together like super glue. Your seeing lots of women with long hair getting braids then having to cut their hair off because of these oils being used.
Oh Jesus here come the gaslighters. Too much or too little oil isn’t supposed to make your hair stick together as if it’s glue. Please don’t listen to these ppl⬆️
@@trawlins396you’re telling me too much oil becomes glue-like on someone’s hair as opposed to just making their hair super - oh I dunno -oily? Omg 🤦🏾♀️
No it is the oil itself they make not just oil. Only black owned hair oils do this. There are many more stories you don't even hear about of women getting braids and they use these black owned oils which a lot of them use the same oil mixture and they have to cut off their hair.
No I'm not using to much. Also no hair oil should make your hair stick together like glue even if you use the whole bottle. Once water hits your hair after using these oils your hair will never be the same and stick together like glue. I hear only people with looser texture curls these oils work for. I have 4c hair. Never has oil or even grease made my hair stick together like glue. There are many women who had long hair who had to cut their hair after getting braids and them using these oils but they just didn't realize it was these oils.
The question you asked about creating products for different textures is the same thing i said about Shea Moisture. As a company that already has multiple product lines, they could have made a line catering to another target market instead of changing ingredients that alienated their core audience damaging their hair in the process.
The products literally say sulphate free on the front but list sulphates in the ingredients on the back as well. I'm most surprised by the fact that this hasn't been an issue for her seeing that some people have allergies to Sulphur.
Mielle is so trash on my hair anyways. That mask and leave in conditioner that everyone loves made my hair feel like straw. Both lines was just not it for me.
I went back to Sunny Isle castor oil products recently and my hair is thriving! My edges have recovered significantly. I have a beautiful full-bodied fro, and bicep-length when I pressed it (heat used every few months). I thought that Sunny Isle was owned by Jamaican immigrants which encouraged me to return to their products- maybe not anymore. I may just throw out the drops, masque, shampoo and conditioner from the Mielle Rosemary line since I don't miss it. Didn't want to waste!
I really love Mielle products! They have done wonders for my 4a/b hair and it has never been longer. The only issue I'm having is dandruff but I've always dealt with that issue

Whites learned, long ago, that Black haircare is HUGE business. I wonder whether they set-up Black companies, by having white women review and post against them, in order to buy them cheaply
Once a company isn’t Black owned anymore I stop using them.
I've been saying this for decades!
Right... they change the ingredients on purpose.
Agreed. The same with Carol’s Daughter. I use to swear by those products, until she sold.
Same
💯!!!
Havent used it since her and her husband were on YT bullying Black women for not liking products they paid for.
Right! That was CRAZY…thanks for watching 🤎
This!!! I stopped supporting after what they did to Linda Lynn.
Yesss I was just talking about Linda Lynn
This. It was disgusting
It was a total mess.
That's what did it for me. When I saw that I was done. Gave away every one of these products. Never again.
@@agbk2189that’s the type of thing that happens now that social media has allowed these hood rats who have no business acumen become successful! Half of these girls have no business running a company!
Wow I had no idea
My hair loves the pomegranate and honey line. Luckily, WW don't care about it. So that line's formula hasn't changed.
😂
What we say about it doesn't matter... irrelevant
That’s my favorite line as well lol
Fun fact: black and white hair don’t need different “formulas” in hair products
@@Celestinewarbeck that’s very untrue 😂 maybe shampoo can slide with that statement
My primary reasons for buying black owned brands 1) generally better ingredient quality formulated for coily, kinky & curly hair 2) financially empower other Black people. Once either of these change I no longer support the company.
I agree…thanks for watching 🤎
💯💯💯💯💯
@@Naomi-gr7fm Formula is what makes up the end products.(What is inside to achieve specific results.)
I agree! Selling the company was a major red flag for me 🤎
The products use to be amazing. They caused my hair to dry and break. They should have released more products catered to yt people instead of changing the original.
Makes sense as to why these products don’t work! That’s always disappointing to find out
Ladies I’m sorry to hear about your experience with MieLLE hair products… I have alopecia and I make a ALL NATURAL hair oil. Not for Alopecia, but it will grow your hair
In BET's defense....they were trash WELL before the white takeover! 😌🫠
@@christines1821Me too.
Same! ❤
I see so many naturals going back to blue magic…maybe I’ll have to give it a try 🤎
J. Strickland products like Blue Magkc is not black owned. You're better off going with Murray's Cocosoft. It's pretty much the same. It comes in three scents only, but it's black owned.
@@CoffeeCuties777blue magic takes my hair out like black magic! I’ll leave it on the self.

That’s seems to be the best idea. Keep your money in your pocket.
@@myahnombreI couldn’t agree more! I do it because I know what exactly is in the things I make. A lot of hair care products contains ingredients I can’t even pronounce lol
That’s so awesome! I always wanted to make my own products…I need to look more into it🤎
Same! I just started making my own last month and my hair had been growing!! At this point I really gotta believe in the brand to support
Right smh 🤦🏾♀️ and I noticed that too🤎
Exactly.
The Pomegranate & Honey line works wonders on my 4C hair. I still use it today. Like the commentator stated; what works for me may not work for everyone. I am still a customer.
I use their mousse. And it is great on my hair.
They say the company is still black “led” but who is leading in chemical engineering and quality control?
I don't believe that for one second.
Most of thier products is not by experts experience
Also a lot of times the black original owners don't necessarily want to sell but the big conglomerates will bully them into selling. They make it harder for them to get the ingredients and make it hard for them to have different distribution channels, so they end up having to sell it if it's going to continue to be profitable.
@@MsLPJWow, that's crazy. 😔
@MsLPJ my question is why cant the pro black elites or pro black social justice warriors buy these black owned brands ....coz I don't understand why we see pro black social justice warrior preach about we want black owned products but yet do not buy them and expand...coz it seems this wokism is just all hymns but no action.
Wow. I had no idea all those companies sold out??!!
Who owns Nexxus?
I don't understand why they buy the product line just to water it down??
Once I found out the company was sold, I haven't purchased anything from the brand since.
Same 🤎
I had no idea they were sold to WP. That's probably why they sell the line at Whole Foods and Fresh Thyme now.
I really want to learn how to make my own products 🤎
@@SixFives5StarChic Would you mind sharing the recipe you used to grow edges? Thank you in advance
It wouldn’t hurt to have a hair care line specifically made for type 4 hair. But I know there would be butt hurt people and controversy. Smh
All "type 4 hair" isn't the same. It would work for some and not others, just like any other hair product. 😂😂
There's a hair care brand called "4c only"
There’s a company called 4c only which I think is owned by curlmix. I’ve never tried it but they are specifically made for 4c hair
Adwoa beauty and Alikay Naturals are more geared towards kinky textures.
Type 4 still isn't exclusive. Hair is a fingerprint. We gota get back 2 our younger selves. Water grease and braids
Mielle never worked for me, even before she sold the line. It made my hair so dry and matted it horribly.
I didn’t experience the matting but it definitely dried out my hair.. 😞
Same. Mielle products look pretty on the inside but never do much
I do remember when the influencer was attacked by Michelle Rodriquez husband.

@@charlie4006because most of them are over hyped, over marketed garbage.
I understand what others are saying, and I pray they can turn their hair issues around, but I love the Mielle pomegranate line. It makes my hair feel so soft and manageable. 🤷🏾♀️🙏🏾💯
I dont rock with mielle anymore however Thanks for pronouncing the name correctly
Thanks for watching and same here smh 🤦🏾♀️
Me too, glad it's not just me! I prefer Design Essentials and Influence brands.
That’s a good idea to switch between products…I personally do the same…and lovely photo🤎🤎🤎
@@CoffeeCuties777, thank you 💗🥰
I'm learning to make my own products with natural ingredients.
Mielle is a good product but the products are a bit drying and I have residue issues with it. I've switched to Camille Rose which works much better.
What’s your favorite line from Camille Rose?
I went back to blue magic and Vo5
Old school 🎒
Where are you able to find these classics at a reasonable price?! Certain "culture" stores stock it but it's ridiculously priced!
@@SiriP-i6w dollar tree usually has Vo5 or dollar general
Blue magic😂😂😂.
Another old school thing that works great is Sulfur 8
@user-dl6xh9ed1m I'm in the caribbean, Vo5 is $7.50 here and blue magic is $13.95. That's about 2.78 usd and 5.16 usd respectively
The oil was kinda strong for my hair
It cause bald spot in front of my hair. It also kinda burn from the mint Or rosemary
It burned my scalp, too, but I found out it has soy and I am allergic to it.
Love the way you navigated through this subject and brand! 👌🏿🎈
Thank you 🤎🤎🤎
What???! I did not know. I sholl love me their rice water braid gel too!!!! My mini twists be so hydrated & shiny
That’s great you’re still having a good experience with the products 🤎
I've tried a lot of these blk product lines and they weren't good for my hair and my hair didn't like them. I went back to using products I started with at the beginning of my natural hair journey; Creme of Nature Argon Oil line, Cantu, and VO5 conditioners like Split Ends Formula, Dry Scalp Formula before it was discontinued.
I’ve been finding myself going back to my old products too but V05 wow that’s taking it way back to my relaxer days🤎
Love, Light & Locs is my favorite black woman owned natural hair care brand 💯💋
One of the things that helped me is I stopped putting any oil on my scalp completely - research the correlation between oil, even natural sebum and scalp conditions
For a period of time I used a clarifying shampoo on my SCALP not hair strands regularly to remove the oil, shampoo with salicylic acid or good. Also look into "glycolic acid toner" for the scalp
Also with my wash and goes I would dry my hair, I used a blow dryer until I got my hooded one. Look into the effects of water on the scalp and hair shaft for long period of time
I hope you find some relief ❤❤
That’s good to hear 🤎🤎🤎
This! My favorite deep conditioner
@@JJamiah yeah I can’t stop using it even if they do have controversy. It works for my hair. I don’t want to change it up.

I used to love them too, until a lot of the ingredients changed.
@@semajjiman girl everything is changing even creme of nature we are all doomed.
That’s awesome your hair is still thriving with the product 🤎🤎🤎
I’ve just been using actual natural ingredients for the past couple of months. I followed a recipe for black soap shampoo and I haven’t looked back since. I finally realized that there is not a single commercial product that can clean my scalp and keep it from itching afterwards. AND give my hair the moisture it needs.
I keep my routine as simple as possible including simple ingredients.
Black soap shampoo with fenugreek powder, vitamin E oil (near pure), vegetable glycerin, essential oils: lavender/peppermint/tea tree
Aztec clay + ACV has also been extremely helpful and gives me amazing results when it’s followed by the mayo deep conditioner recipe
Deep condition with mayo, egg, fenugreek powder, vitamin E oil.
Yeah I didn’t hear about that situation until a little later but that was a red flag for me for sure 🤦🏾♀️
@@CoffeeCuties777 for sure 👍🏽
Nice! I want to make my own products eventually as well🤎
I really keep my hair simple. All the juices and berries and clay is unnecessary. Simply put, cleaned and conditioned hair is happy and healthy hair.
I agree! What’s your favorite product?

Previously. my hair felt so rough.
Omg it did the same to my curly wig 😭 I thought it was the wig but it might have been the products 😭

I use the pomegranate shampoo and leave in conditioner. It works well for me
A friend gave me a trial sachet of rice water mask - really agrees with my hair - "4b and 4c", I guess, so I bought a full-size recently and use it every two weeks. No over-investment in any brands or 'lines' - I learned my lesson🎉
Mielle dried my hair out! Never again.
I use Carol’s Daughter still. My favorites are the Black Vanilla hair gel and the Goddess Curl rinse out conditioner and hair mask ❤
Camille Rose is good too.

The formula absolutely changed it made my hair very dry and brittle

@@nikkideevah that's a good point. I didn't even notice that!! 😮
When they appeared on an episode of selling Tampa they came across condescending and better than. Never used their products.
I just recent purchased from Amazon the Coil Sculpting Custard and the Leave in Conditioner Red label bottle of Mielle and the condioner and the custard both left my hair very dry and brittle. ok i have to comment as i dont usually do so. I have noticed a huge difference in the moisture of my hair & scalp. I have been using several of the Pomegranite line products. I thought it was ME or MY hair changing, Now that i see this video i am convinced that its not my imagination.
You're probably using too much
Oh Jesus here come the gaslighters.
Yep 👍🏾 that’s a better solution…I have a shea moisture video coming soon but first up is carols daughter🤎🤎
I saw how soy & many other ingredients were in it, so I never used it...
Yep, I scrutinize ingredients in everything I buy like a hawk 👀, the soy is what did it for me. Not top quality. 🙅♀️
Mines too 🤦🏾♀️
When black-owned products are sold off to white-owned businesses I don't purchase them.
