Please please do NOT throw out any Mielle products/receipts because this is proof of purchase and one day you may need to have your product tested to find out if there is anything such as an ingredient that may be causing the issues, especially if your hair/scalp has been damaged. Otherwise, legally you have nothing to present apart from your word. Sometimes formula's are changed but the woman that made this product stated that nothing has changed. Many people have looked at the labels of old and new products for the oil as an example, and although many ingredients are the same, they are not in the same order and some have a different added ingredient. This means the product has changed and it is not the same as the original. Also, it might be worth going to a hair specialist to get an analysis of what may be causing your hair issues, because if everyone has the same problem scientifically that Mielle has some explaining to do.
@@misslewkingdom6390Please be aware and careful because there are women who purchased off the website and still experienced hair loss months later. Something not right.
I too am a victim of her products! You've described my exact experiences on the nail. It's crazy; I posted a video on my IG page describing my experiences. The funny (not so funny) part is we were all gaslighting ourselves into believing it was everything else other than those products. I'm sorry you had to go through this. Our hair will come back better than ever, much love! Thx for posting.
@@The_JayWay thank you love yes OUR HAIR is going to grow in healthier and better than before. We always defend things before believing the truth for me personally I wanted to believe so badly it was stress!!
She described my experience with Mielle Hair Product. Never had any issues with my hair at all. I refused to believe it was the product that ruined my hair.
I went ahead and threw all of my Mielle out. At this point, too many people are saying the same thing and I have experienced some problems with my hair as well. I can’t say it’s Mielle but better to be safe than sorry.
@@DebraJohnson I was saying the same thing, at first I was like it can’t be this products cause it made for our people by some that looks like us!!! Then when I stopped using it and noticed the drastic change I was shook!!!!!!! I’m happy you stopped using it!!!

I was having a problems with my hair when I started to use the products. I noticed that my hair just looked damaged and it was coming out. I was using the hair oil, the conditioner and the shampoo again I never had a problem growing out my hair and I never had a problem of it shedding , but one day I just said let me just stop using the products not knowing that people were having problems with the products I switch to a different shampoo and hair oil and all my hair stop coming out, I mean I went to the dermatologist. That’s how bad it was!!! now my hair is on its way to recovery. It’s thriving it’s long it still has a way to go, but for anyone that’s contemplating of using these products do not use the products.
Mielle was black owned, but in 2023 she sold her line to proctor and gamble. Proctor and gamble is a devil corporation and black people are always the main target. Overuse, and the directions on the bottle is overusage. Can’t use those kind of products more than once a week or once every two weeks and as for the oil it is meant to be used a little or dilute it with carrier oil

Thank you for sharing your experience with Mielle! I’m glad I didn’t purchase the products…that saved me money and my hair! By the way I love your name!!!
Thank you so much for thinking of others in your own distress. I appreciate it. For all you went through, you still look fantastic. Your curl pattern is beautiful and suits your features very well. Blessings to you, my sister.
I’m sorry you had such a bad experience using Mielle Organics products. Your hair is beautiful. I’ve been using the Honey Pomegranate Curling Custard for 3 years consistently with no issues. Occasionally I will use the Rosemary Mint oil…no issues. Thanks for sharing. Will definitely watch out for excess shedding.
I also use those products and have had no issues. I love the curling custard! I feel like people are fear mongering because they don’t understand how human chemistry works. It’s different for everyone and it’s wild to say it’s definitively those products.
I have no issues with Mielle products. I use the rosemary mint gel, rosemary mint shampoo, rosemary mint oil and pomegranate honey leave in conditioner. I started using them 1 year ago, after they were sold, and my hair loves these products especially the shampoo
Same. The pomegranate and honey line works fine for me. I like the oil from the Rosemary and Mint line, but did not like the shampoo or deep conditioner. That’s the one with the green label that gives people the most trouble. I think it has too much protein and not enough moisturizing agents. It didn’t damage anything but my hair was dry after using that so I gave it away to my sister with a much softer curl pattern.
Something similar happened to me but using another brand, had to cut my hair into an ear length bob from shoulder length. 18 months of growth down the drain (I big chopped to an inch). I tried mielles rosemary mint deep conditioner and my hair was DRY, TUMBLEWEEDS, BURNT GRASS DRY. I was pissed, went back to my old routine and 3/4 months later my hair is THRIVING. (Palmers biotin line, Shea moisture manuka honey deep conditioner, Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie and Camille rose curl maker) Keep to what your hair loves ladies.
First and foremost your hair is still beautiful. Secondly, in my opinion the formulation of the oil is bad. It is full of super potent essential oils like tea tree, peppermint and eucalyptus. Those oils are meant to be used in very small quantities and certainly not daily and long term. You probably developed an allergy to it over time. Dry itchy scalp and flaking are signs.
More likely it's the vitamin A derivative that turns over cells more. That shouldn't be on the scalp. There are several hair oils with even more potent combinations that I use daily without any issues.
@@GreenGorgeousness some retinols actually cause hair to grow and retinol is vit A . I’ve been using the oils you just mentioned for years and not 2 to 3 drops and I don’t deal with flakes or itchiness. It may have to do with ingredient switch. They claim they haven’t changed the ingredients but technically when you bump up an ingredient from bottom to top, it’s still a formula change .
Last week went to purchase a brush for my teen who is experiencing hair loss. The clerk recommended this product. Last night I was planning to use it but read all the ingredients and hesitated. Something was telling me not to use it; then I decided to research last night and discovered a lot of information like you have described. I learned that someone noticed that retinal was added. I will take your advice to throw brand new bottle in trash unopened. Thank you for explaining what has happened to you. I will use just castor oil with a little rosemary oil to help my daughter. I had also thrown out the Garnier Fructis 2and1 shampoo due to sodium laryl sulfate. God Bless.

Omg! It's so sad. Me too. I started losing my hair in chunks. I thought it was due to the anesthesia because I had surgery 3 months ago. I threw it out last month. My hair falling out has slowed down, but still bad even though I've changed shampoo line. I too did some research last month when I ended up throwing it away.

The sea moss line tore my hair up had to big chop. Then the rosemary mint oil caused some of my starter locs to break off. Now I know it's all of the products.
Mint will help with stimulation. You use that on your scalp , not on your hair. Using products correctly is important. DO research about ingredients before using them.
This makes me so happy I never really got into Mielle products. I had bought the rosemary oil because when it first came out the girlies were swearing it was making their hair grow. But i really never used it. Now that people are coming out and saying its making their hair fall out i put it straight in the trash. I’m not taking the chance!
I never bought it because I am hesitant to buy anything everyone is raving about. And I'm not trying to say I'm better than anyone. Even more so when the hwyte girlies were raving about the rosemary oil I knew it was no longer for bw. What has always worked for me is buying the base oils from a natural herbal store and mixing my oils myself at home.
I just cut mine too today after using the tamanu line. They had a $5 sale and I bought every line. And now its all going to the trash. I can't give that mess to anyone else. Stay away from Mielle and She moisture

Last month I purchased the Mielle Rosemary mint styling cream and leave-in conditioner from Sally’s Beauty. My hair felt soft for a couple days and then I started to notice my hair feels extremely dry. I didn’t think much of it and moisturized it with water and added more product. Within days I noticed shedding from the follicles. Everyone’s hair sheds daily but this was different. Every single time I combed my hair ( twice daily) it shed- a lot! I used the products in the above mentioned manner at least four times over the course of two weeks. I would deep condition my hair weekly hoping that the hair fall would stop but unfortunately, I was still using the products because I didn’t connect the dots. I felt led to Google “ Does Mielle products cause hair to fall out” and instantly, many threads and RUclips videos were trending. Needless to say, I immediately stopped using the products and returned them to Sally’s.
I used the exact same Mielle products you used The Pomegranate and the rosemary oil. I’m tired of growing my hair out long and having to start over. When I started using the Mielle products my hair was natural and mid back length. I was so proud of myself for growing out my natural hair that long. Now it’s back to the drawing board for me and my hair. Like you I’m using a leave in conditioner and twist and braid cream from Design Essentials and a black castor oil. The lesson I learned is if my hair is thriving with the products i’m using don’t switch. I’m trying to figure out why did I change products when there was no need to do so. Lesson learned.
I don’t know if people know about a particular ingredient that has been used in mielle product called retinyl palmitate This particular ingredient is what is causing a lot of hair loss . It will cause an immediate hair growth during the anagram stage (begging stages of hair growth) a But will cause a lot of hair loss during the latter part of the hair growth. The ingredient can really clog up the pours which can cause irritation and excessive dryness to the scalp. It also comes from palm oil hence why you might have saw changes in hair colour. Avoid mielle at all costs
I got the Mielle rosemary oil in an Allure Beauty Box. I use it on my feet as an anti-fungal. Rosemary Oil is an anti-fungal. I was going to put it into my hair and am glad I came across this youtube. Thanks for sharing. Your hair looks amazing, you'll get that length back, fingers crossed.
Ive have been thinking for years, black products dry hair out, other than design essentials, the majority are horrible and made my hair extremely dry..Many people thought i was trying to be white by using brands tailored to white people in Ulta, Sephora or Aveda.. but i wasnt, the balck products did not work for me. Now we are seeing why.

There's a science to the hair and scalp which very few people talk about which is why people with African Ancestry always end up with damaged hair. When I turned 29, my scalp became more sensitive and I didn't know the cause until my trichologists told me to stop oiling/greasing/ putting butter on my scalp. They also told me not to braid my hair in box braids or cornrows because 1. it causes microfractures in my hair and 2. it prevents moisture and hydration from getting into my hair strand correctly. So now I shampoo my scalp every 7 to 10 days and I can only wear kinky twists extensions for 12 weeks of the 52 a year. If I want to wear a wig, I flat twist my hair or put it in 2 or 3 french braids. No more small braids for me. No more scalp oil, butter, grease or pomade for me. No more monthly shampoos for me. No more home chemicals for me. I have to go and get my trims and have my hair and scalp assessed by my trichologists and stylist every 12-16 weeks. They can't evaluate my scalp if I'm in back-to-back braids and cornrows and extensions. As I have high porosity hair, I apply leave -in conditioner to my hair every day. I skip styling products which irritate my scalp and dry out my hair and just use leave-in. In kinky twists extensions, I use braid spray daily. I have a water-based scalp mist from my trichologists. I have to use Deep conditioner instead of regular rinse out conditioner. i use edge control maybe once a month. Because my hair is ultra-fine I use a daily light protein mist and a medium-strength protein conditioner every other week. This is just my scalp and my hair that has been assessed by professionals in person in real life. A lot of braiders are not hair loss and hair care specialists. A lot of stylists/cosmetologists do things to damage the hair and scalp. Please got to a professional who focuses on hair care, healthy hair, scalp issues and hair loss at least every 12-16 weeks. I'm neurodivergent and life gets hectic so I see my professionals to keep me on track with my hair and scalp health.
Cantu made my hair dry, crusty and impossible to style. Girls were recommending it on RUclips but it didn't agree with my hair at all. Then I looked at the ingredients and saw that their products contain alcohol. That was the culprit. But, nah, never using Cantu again.
@marleyhill34 thanks you for this advice!! Yes, when I even try to put oil on my scalp, it's starts burning and itching. I have high porosity hair with fine strands and creams are still way to heavy for me and when I do smaller braided plats, that dries my hair out as well.
I purchased the shampoo and conditioner because I use to hear good things about it but since hearing all the horror stories I've returned everything purchased back to the store. Thank you for sharing your story and I'm wishing you well on your new hair journey!
To be honest, it needs to have just a little bit of rosemary oil because it is very potent, too much will cause hair loss. I found that it is way too far up the ingredient list and that can be causing the possible hair loss. Especially if you use it frequently.
Sorry that this happened to you ❤❤. Girls this is a prime example of if something isnt broke then dont fix it. Its not every fad or trend we have to follow. Ps. You scalp produces enough oil to do what needs to be done. Just make sure the oil is able to travel or you physically move the oil from your scalp to ends and you will be good!! We dont need to apply oils store brought or natural. Oiling the scalp causes inflammation.....dont just take my word for it Google is free ❤❤❤
Yessss!! I just said this in my comment. Stop oiling and greasing the scalp. You dont need oil unless your taking out braids or only on the tips and verrrry little. Just comb/paddle brush your hair and let the natural oil come from the scalp down the hair. Keep the routine simple.
@TheSTALLIONESS exactly this!! You can tell you've done your research!! Legit the only way I use oil is on the very ends or to help detangle my hair! I don't wet detangle at all anymore. ❤❤ wishing you the best on your hair journey girl!!
Oh wow how scary!!! I used the oil only after shampoo once a week. Never used any of the other products and so glad I didn’t. I never had any of these issues
Thank you for this. I've been experiencing some weird texture change that of course I attempted to blame other things for because Mielle started out strong for me. But, I was getting twists a lot and cleansing with other things in those styles. So doing the rosemary & mint deep conditioning masque before and after my twists was great, and I was only going a few weeks between, so I wasn't getting true long term usage. ...until this year... I didn't re-up my twists because I wanted to give my hair a break, which means I've been using the products more regularly (I even bought a COUPLE more bottles of the almond oil like a month ago) and the state of my hair is dookie. Because I wasn't experiencing massive loss like I've heard so many others describe, I thought I was one of the heads that was doin alright with the products. They may or may not be the cause of my issues, but the first step is to cease and desist and take it from there. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience so thoroughly and thoughtfully.

I use Design Essentials and Kera Care products but I was using that Mielle oil. Only one bottle from Dec.23 until Aug.24. I started noticing thinning in the crown area in July. I caught it early and then started seeing all these vids. I took back the new Mielle bottle I had just bought last month. Stick to professional brands (like they use in the shop), no mom and pops new brands catered to “natural hair care”, etc. I remember as a kid, I even used Paul Mitchell. Hair was amazing. Also, I learned to stop oiling the scalp period and dont do detangling nor braiding on wet hair. After cutting off 2-3 inches, I’m working my way back now. Scalp went from light pink (inflammation) to white in some areas. Keep the scalp clean. Keep your routine simple. None of them extra creams, butters, oils.

It was the rosemary oil. I went through the same experience with regular rosemary essential oil. It's a strong oil. I shedded so much hair from the roots from it and I mixed it with other oils. I just used too much. So I started using things without rosemary oil and my scalp started healing. Now I only use 5 to 6 drops in a spray bottle with water and other things in it

It took me forever to try the oil. I'd look at it and just simply not buy it. Same with with the shampoo, which ive never tried. Something just said, no, lol. I finally did buy the oil... used about half the bottle. I noticed my scalp being a little itchy...did also wonder why my hair seemed dryer than usual. I stopped using it. My 14 yr old started using it. She's learning how to take care of her hair, so I was just happy she was oiling her scalp. She was patting her head DOWN everytime I saw her and using any and everything to scratch her scalp to sores. She says she had some dandruff spots, which she doesn't normally get. So we stopped using it. That was just one bottle, so i can imagine continued use over an extended period of time. I also started using the curling custard. It's bomb!! After my first use it transformed my hair. I'm now on my 3rd jar and don't see that it's done any damage... it's only helped. So I'll continue that, but watching carefully for any changes.

Right after that, my hair started coming out in massive clumps, unlike my normal pea sized shedding. my hair had massive breakage and I had to cut off a lot of my hair. My hair texture changed and looked just like yours. Somehow, I gaslit myself into thinking it was a hormonal issue when I should’ve known better that it was something that I used. I’ve never used Mielle since then and I have not had any huge shedding, but , I’ve been dealing with trying to get my hair back to where it was in my photo. I’m honestly not sure if that’s gonna happen.😢
@@Tonia682 oh my goodness I’m so sorry this happened to you. It must be hormones like this is not normal, but I’m just gonna be in denial and something told me stop using this product for like two weeks and I did and I noticed some drastic change.
Ughhhh I’m going through the same thing. I cut my hair to a little above shoulder length hoping that would take care of it but it’s still shedding. Not nearly as bad as it was while using Mielle but still enough to where I’m noticing that my scalp is becoming bald in the middle and going forward. My hair texture is completely different… normally 4c and now it’s very loose and thin. Not to mention my son was using the shampoo for his locs and so many of his locs have come out in the front/ middle. I feel so bad 🤦🏾♀️. I’m trying to so hard not to cut my hair but I feel like that’s what I’m gonna have to do 😞💔
@@_NiaJ I’m sorry to hear this. I pray your hair and your son hair flourishes. I have absolutely no problems with my hair. Still using the products, and have had great results. As a matter of fact, I had a spot that didn't grow, but started growing after using thier rosemary oil. Idk, maybe some bad batches
I purchased the rosemary mint shampoo last month at Target. I had never heard of Mielle, yet alone he controversy surrounding the brand, otherwise I would never have even tried it. I used it two or three times and it actually made my hair feel soft and smooth, but after randomly coming across your and other similar videos this weekend, I threw the bottle away immediately. I’m sorry you and others are living this nightmare, and thank you for sharing your experiences so I and many others who were fortunate to have only tried it a couple of times without issue could throw it out before any damage was done. Thank you!

Funny I came across this, usually for dreads I’ll wash once a week and do a tea tree spray for flakes/itch, moisturize then use jojoba or sum. Ran out of tea tree so used my sisters rosemary oil thinking it serves a similar purpose for scalp care. My dreads a never been drier this week in particular so much breakage it’s scary. I was better off last week when I went no product lol
I'm trying so hard to put my hair food on Amazon. I've been making and using my own hair oil for many years and it work. Each ingredient does something different and beneficial to the hair.
Hello Dear, here watching and supporting, thanks for posting this content, here to encourage you to keep going, keep pushing forward, thumbs up and blessing to you
I would keep the product and get it tested. I've noticed many people are saying the same thing about their experience from Mielle. Mielle is saying that it using the same ingredients, and nothing changed. Honestly, people, Im thinking before you throw products in the trash. Keep it and get it tested. You will not have a leg stand on, because Proctor and Gamble will point to the ingredients saying you could be sensitive. So my advice before the pitch forks comes out. Everyone who been having a problem with Mielle products to get it tested. This could be a cross-contamination situation. They make Zevo and other products. So, to have a lawsuit, have your product tested. This will help in the fight. Also, even if they use a different third-party vendor for their oils, essential oils are extracted differently. These oils could be inferior but extracted chemically instead of distillation. So please people if you can get it tested. If a lawsuit or removal of the product is what you want, then back it up with some type of proof. Im sorry that this happened.
I was gifted Mielle products. The first time I used the shampoo, it stripped my hair so bad. Immediately, my hair texture changed and began to web. Immediately, I grabbed my Camille Rose products. I took the conditioner and applied it over the suds to add some emollients and moisture. Threw Mielle products away. Never will I try Mielle again. I will stick with Camille Rose, Curl Junkie, and Curl Smlth.
The exact same thing happened to me in 2022 with the mielle line. I cried so much. I had to cut 34 inches off because my ends looked burnt and I started to get patches. I returned the entire line to Amazon, and I have my receipts and I documented my reason back then as return due to my hair falling out.
Thank you for this! I recently cut my locs and am still figuring out which products to use (locd life was so simple lol) and I will steer clear of Mielle! I used a curl cream of theirs on my daughter at my point but don’t recall any negative result but I’m not risking it. A lot of people are suing this productand the original person who invented the product had sold it to a non black person. Make you wonder what that person did to the ingredients.

But will cause a lot of hair loss during the latter part of the hair growth.

I saw that the rosemary oil's ingredient list was full of cheap fillers and very little rosemary oil.
To be honest, it needs to have just a little bit of rosemary oil because it is very potent, too much will cause hair loss. I found that it is way too far up the ingredient list and that can be causing the possible hair loss. Especially if you use it frequently.
@@deenacurls Good point!

Purchased from Walmart, Sally's and Amazon but they all took my hair out, horrible sore scalp and shedding and headaches
I bought it directly from their website.
It was the rosemary oil. I went through the same experience with regular rosemary essential oil. It's a strong oil. I shedded so much hair from the roots from it and I mixed it with other oils. This is why I use natural products like kinky curly, alikay naturals, and melanin haircare. This is so scary and awful. You still look beautiful.
