Sora, Donald & Goofy wake up one year later after Chain of Memories (three after the first instalment) in another world called Twilight Town where he gets a mission from Yen-sid to wipe out the heartless. Yen-sid also informs them about new foes to beware of, such as Nobodies and the evil Organization XIII.

Ah, Lingering Will. A non-speedrunner’s nightmare. One thing that makes Lingering Will so tough is that his opening attack is completely random, so no attempt will ever start the same way.
Your best bet is to study his attacks to find openings. Once you’ve seen all of his attacks, the fight becomes a little easier.
He was very hard hahaha!

Some consider Lingering Will to be the hardest boss in any Kingdom Hearts game. Before Kingdom Hearts 3, I would definitely agree. He barely gives you a moment to breathe and his pattern isn't the easiest thing in the world to learn. I remember when I fought the guy on Critical Mode. The man is an absolute menace on that difficulty. His Revenge Value will sometimes just oneshot you while you're in the middle of comboing him, and he gives you no warning lol. And the anxiety when he locks all of your commands and just starts melting your health... I get anxious just thinking about it haha. This boss and the data bosses are what awakened my love for challenging myself in a KH game though. They're really hard, but a ton of fun to learn and super rewarding when you finally do it. c: I totally understand the feeling though that a boss is just well above your paygrade. You did well, though! That was definitely a performance to be proud of.
I once told someone during a dark souls stream that the KH data battles are what made dark souls bosses less intimidating/difficult for me. I got laughed at by everyone lol. I still stand by that opinion though. They're way harder.

The lingering will is the superboss of this game, he’s is very challenging, I’m still struggling fighting him for the past 7 months lol
He's designed to be rough even on Beginner. It took me a couple days to take him down myself.

Lingering Will was the toughest boss in the franchise until the Secret Boss of the DLC for Kingdom Hearts 3. But you'll get there in time.
Just fighting the Lingering Will is necessary, so we can understand it better in Birth By Sleep.

Eh, I'd argue that Lingering Will still is since in KH3 you can pretty much avoid all damage by summoning and still deal a large amount of damage to the DLC Boss.
Hey jade! You made it through the cavern of Remembrance!! Nice job, that place is very challenging especially on Critical.
Fun fact, the different kinds of nobodies you fight in this game are under the control of Org XIII, and each member has a certain nobody type they have command over. So the sniper nobodies are under Xigbar command, the nobodies with spears under Xaldin, the samurai nobodies under Roxas, dancer nobodies under Demyx, etc. Pretty interesting
Also no worries about Lingering Will, I've never beat him in my life myself 😅 but no one can say you didn't get the true Lingering Will experience!

Just a mechanical tip, no spoilers:
-High Jump into Glide you will build up to max speed.
-Aerial Dodge into Glide you will automatically be at max speed with your Glide!
If you time your Aerial Recovery (O button) when an attack is about to hit you (such as when Lingering Will was dashing at you midair) it auto-negates the attack.
With Once More equipped, it's sometimes better to let him continue comboing you since you won't die.
Save before a fight, and when you die instead of pressing Continue select Load Game that way you get back any used Items.

@JadeJoob very few people beat him sooner than 100 tries lol, myself included!
If you would like to unlock the ending yourself and complete the journal before you put the time in to beat him, there IS an easy, cheap way to do it, usually used for speed runners or if someone is farming Synth Items. Let me know if you'd like to see, or you can look up "Negative Combo Lingering Will Fight" and I'm sure it'll pop up.
Oh nooo cloud was right there lol 20:50 right next to the green tent lol 😂 but you don't have to record a video but I think you should really see the cutscene with cloud and sephiroth for yourself. You need to talk to cloud and then go back sephiroth. Trust me it's worth it. Hehe 😊. Well you tried your best with the lingering will in Disney castle. My first 100 tries was nightmare too lol you could always watch a video too see what happens after you beat him. The most important thing you saw him. No spoilers ;) can't wait for your reaction of the secret movies.

It was intense!
Yeah Lingering Will has an attack pattern and is a heavy hitter. Get your items chains and bonuses in check. Have potions mega potions and elixirs for all characters. Check your abilities as well to swap out useless abilities and put in abilities for attack regaining magic faster rage abilities etc. Have your best Keyblades for normal Sora and all of the drive forms. His attack pattern will change for every fight.
I don’t blame you for the Armored Warrior boss. (No Spoilers if you don’t know). That boss is the toughest one in the whole game

Lingering will is mostly vulnerable when he lands, or finishes an attack.
One thing to try, is to dodge roll the attacks, and get in close, to strike at that weak point where he lands. Or resets position.
But that’s not counting all of the other crazy attacks in his moveset
@50:40 you can say "we aren't xehanort" as much as you like but to him it don't matter
a wooden pegs the same as a rusty nail, and sora really looks like needs to learn how to hammer down a nail.

lingering will, a right of passage for all new kh newbs.
he's the true goat of kh if you can beat him with out cheesing him, then most kh fans will respect you.

I beat Lingering Will once randomly. Thinking I would never beat it. Notice the secret bosses foreshadows future game characters/antagonists? That’s something this series does a lot with the big entries.

I'm glad you at least attempted Lingering Will. I want you to experience before you proceed with Birth by Sleep. I remember doing that boss and not being good at all with the game till I got good with guarding and dodging. You should try practicing guard and dodging for future boss fights, those will make your survivability skyrocket from what they are now! If you done those, then Lingering will would've been so much easier next time around.
Can't wait till you react to the secret ending to KH2 and beyond.
The Data Battles, Lingering Will and Mushroom 13 give emblems to Sora, which Manifest as a Crown, it goes from bronze to silver to gold.
And Beating Lingering Will unlocks the secret ending extended

Yeah, just hammering attack isn't gonna get you far here 😂
Just imagine if you tried these bosses on critical mode. At level 1 😉 Data battles are a source of great joy and frustration both in KH. And can you imagine they weren't in the original KH2 release, or LW or the silhouettes. Which meant unless you you imported Final Mix from Japan, which I did, overseas players had to wait until the PS3 remaster to try them out.
Are you going to read the Days secret reports before BBS? They'll give you some insight into characters like Axel and Saix.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I used the negative combo loop strategy to get past this super boss. This fight for me really highlights how tedious Sora's movement is in kh2. It's controversial I'm sure but I don't like how heavy it is, even if you master movement-enhancing abilities it takes way too long for Sora to close distance with his target. And given this boss is ONLY vulnerable after an attack animation and sometimes he can land quite far away from you, you can regularly miss the small window to attack for no other reason than Sora runs too slowly. So personally I think that this boss is pretty poorly designed, there is a certain amount of luck involved that does not actually make it fun to fight.
Yeah, that's _definitely_ a hot take, though I can understand where you're coming from; he does feel cheap if you don't understand how he works, if you don't know how to manage his Revenge Values, and especially if you aren't aware of the HP thresholds for his phase transitions. As for closing the distance, knowing how to counter/dodge his attacks lets you position yourself close to where he'll end up when he gives you an opening, and Flash Step and Slide Dash let you stay close to him while attacking.
Lingering Will used to be *the* gold standard for KH superbosses before KH3 Re:Mind because he was difficult, but generously rewarded you for learning how to counter his moves, with his biggest flaw being that he was too predictable if you know what you're doing.
