El Estepario's drum IQ is unrivaled. He doesn't just play drums, he transcends what they are. As someone who plays drums, guitar and sings, he is the first person that has ever captivated me to the point where I'm not even worried about the song. I'm interested in the music that HE is making. The song is supporting him, not the other way around. IMO he's absolutely the best drummer in the world.
I think probably one of the most impressive things El Estepario does is that because of his minimalistic kit (typically 3 piece), it's not about watching where his hands are, it's about watching what his hands are doing WHERE they are. It's almost like watching someone perform with just a voice and a single instrument. There's nowhere to hide. It's all right there in front of you.
"it's about watching what his hands are doing" Aye, good luck with that!! Can we combine two RUclips channels and get The Slow Mo Guys to film him at a few thousand fps? We mere mortals might stand a chance then!
Near total limb independence, musicality, insane speed, control and manages to make it look effortless. He has pushed drums from the back of the stage the front and allowed a whole new audience to see what it looks and sounds like. Dedication is key, he is ridiculously talented but he openly states that "talent comes from 8 hours of practice a day for years" Great react and love to see more!
the amount of coordination to even play that is insane. It's almost as if each limb of his has a mind of it's own with that amazing coordination. His timing is also amazing, and also it's as if everything that can make a sound is a drum to him. It's as if his brain goes to places on how many things he can fit into a certain timing without making it sound messy. Also in certain notes he plays it so fast the point that it sounds like 1 hit which gives an elusion of it being something simple
I love watching reactions to El Estepario Siberiano because it is like reliving the amazement when I first saw it but through someone else's eyes. It's like when you see something amazing and you want someone else to see it too. It seems like everyone feels that way.
Rayna, I like the way you talk about his approach being the perfect combination of overplaying and playing good grooves. My mindset when I watch his videos is that I'm not watching a drum cover, I'm watching a drum solo that lines up perfectly with a song.
He's the reason I've started learning :) Don't expect to reach his level but I've got ZZ Top Gimme All Your Lovin mostly cracked after 4 days of starting.....Have you seen "Megadeth Drummer Hears Mr Brightside For The First Time"? Really fun watch!
El Estepario is just immense! I've seen that video before but I didn't quite pick up on a few things until your review. Nice work. Keep smashing it. Keep pumping out the merch ;)
Another PRO drummer noted that he hits the drums in exactly a 1-2" space. You can see the "wear" in the drum in several of his other videos. His precision is nuts.
The thing is; Yes he is a drummer, but what he does here on RUclips and other platforms isn't just drumming. It's entertainment and I think that's why people like it. I'm no drummer but I enjoy watching him go crazy. Nice reaction.
On top of every thing that you pointed out whenever he’s switching the pedal he’s still using the high hat to. On these videos he does everything in one take unless he does a split screen where he’s doing two drum parts like in The Believer.
I’ve watched drummers on you tube for years and since I’ve watched him I don’t watch anything is, it’s the technicality and the measure of control on every stroke. He’s even better one handed. That will blow your mind.
I subscribed. You are one of the very few if any that caught EES flip the drumstick up, catch it with his right hand and play the cymbal, twice. Good job. Watch this video ten times to get and absorb all he does.
You should check out his newest one. It’s a drum cover of Eminem - Monster. You want you mind blown even more than this video?? That’s the one brother.
He has made mistakes in his drumming, but, you BARLEY notice. Sometimes he is able to play right through it, so it seems on purpose. The man is a bloody machine.
Young Jorge is for sure #Inspirational :) (his name is Jorge Garrido btw... & no, I have no idea where the Siberian Steppe thing came from!) I'm looking forward to him using all his limbs going forward, but definitely check out his One Handed Drumming Vol.1 sometime. ;)
It’s not actually a floor tom but another snare that is tuned very low. Not here tryning to be point out mistakes. Just pointing out yet another way that the guys manages to be creative. He has so many creative and out of the box thinking things in his videos that many time people don’t even notice that it includes the decision he makes with the gear he uses
The drum you labeled a floor tom is actually a deep shell snare. You can see the snare switch on the side. Plus, look at the stand that the drum is placed on.
I think you're hedging your bets so I'm gonna say what I think you wanted to say...... This guy is game changer number 3 for drummers. In guitar we have had 2 game changers. One was Jimi Hendrix and the other was Eddie. they changed everything. With drummers there have been 2 game changers. One was Buddy Rich and the other was the drummer from Rush....... Neil Peart. EES Is game changer number 3. This is going to revolutionize everybody's concept of what is possible with a drum kit. We are in for the ride of our lives❤
For anyone that reviews him and wants to dig into some gems from a couple of years ago; THE HARDEST SONG I'VE EVER PLAYED | GAIA - CHRIS COLEMAN DRUM COVER
for me, in one fell swoop El Estepario has (and in some cases) single handidly surpassed the greats that w all know and love such as Bonham and Peart (Edit - subbed too)
the way I view his playing is, he is taking the drums and making into a real Instrument instead of a metronome any money can start up to keep time for the rest of a band
Who should we watch next?
the answer is Godzilla by the same guy
nice! i'll check it out@@smokeyjo7420
Aric Improta would be a fun reaction!
@@tomfiend86 nice 👍 I did react to some of his stuff a few years ago!

You summed up everyone's experience watching this incredible man perform! Well said, sir!
Outstanding comment. Completely agree.
Excellent summary
"it's about watching what his hands are doing"
Aye, good luck with that!! Can we combine two RUclips channels and get The Slow Mo Guys to film him at a few thousand fps? We mere mortals might stand a chance then!
Absolutely mental. This guy is on another level.
His videos, commentary, inspiration, and instruction WILL change the next generation of drummers....
I can't stop watching this.

He is flashy, insanely technical, and he adds soul to the music! :D

The Travis Barker analogy was so good! Indeed he is the new wow factor guy. 👏🏻
Great reaction, dude. I love watching drummers who are technically incredible but this guy is unrivalled for his creativity, its a joy to watch
The way this GOAT compartmentalizes his brain is just crazy.

Great comment it is exactly the way I go about it. El Estepario is simply a legend already

El Estepario is another level with his natural ability and thousands of hours he invested. From my POV he is the GOAT
what i like most about the beat is the mans eyes are closed.Mind is Blown

Yeah I see what you mean! ✌️
excellent react! love how you take the time to highlight why EES is so good, musically speaking, and not just a techie drummer.
Thank you 👍

Only two words; number one
Play the video to the end and allow him to explain what’s going on. He does this in a one take with everything going on.
