- An unusual friendship is brewing at Orangutan Jungle School between one of the orangutans and a young male macaque. Inter-species friendships are rare- but they’re more common here than in the wild.

she’s careful not to scare him so she can pet and play with him once she gets his trust, just like we do with cute animals.
Well, the macaque isn’t like a pet to her, it’s a friend.
@@Mar-ft9xu Well.. not sure about it
@@Mar-ft9xu yeah not too sure about that
@@Mar-ft9xu Well more or less macaque is like a very, very different raced young friend to her

doesn't it feel great
2:27 indeed
I gasped when he put his tiny paw in her big outstretched hand. How can you watch something like this and think animals don't feel emotion or have souls? These two have found their kindred spirit.
Heck yeah. These animals, more so the orangutan can establish friendships. Scientifically it’s “social bonding” or “strengthening social networks” but is human friendship really any different, apart from us humans doing things like going to the mall together or taking a road trip?
I also like how the monkey and orangutan establish boundaries without ending contact or getting violent. Slowly gaining trust.
@@peterp2153 Orangutan are really special animals, they form friendships with ALL types of animals, it’s really adorable.
Jellyfish dont, lol they dont even have a brain XD
Paw? Their not dogs
RIGHT! They literally shook hands
the Clair De Lune set the perfect mood for this video... so sweet...

I can’t, this has got to be the cutest darn thing I have seen in a long time. It just warms my heart and leaves me amazed at how intelligent orangutans are. That is only a yearling macaque. Does she think it’s a baby or a pet I wonder?
Makes me smile❤
@Murray Stern how cute!
@@bonnie3232 The best medicine!
Agreed

There's so much of a difference in size even though it's a baby orangutan
The difference is Orangutan is an ape, and macaque is a monkey.
@@jellyboygaming4429 The comment is not meant to be qualitative. It's just reinforcing that orangutans are truly "great apes"

Just saw this text/comment to this older vidio I watched, and started to read other comments.
Then I came to the comment from you who for what reasons seems to be fixated like a child would go on and on about a very normal act animal's AND HUMANS do.
It's all about scent.
This is one HUGE part of humans male and females are attracted by their scent.
For Pete's sake GROW UP!
OR stick with the children's show like Sesame St.

This is literally me when I’m trying to cuddle my cat.
This often happens between species where competition for food isn't a concern, and there isn't rivalry for mating purposes, etc. Nice to see. Especially the grooming, which, as the video says, 'cements' the friendship.
I guess 2020's not all bad
Not for these lil orangutans.its good that they don't have to be dealing with the bs we have going on they deserve they're own area 100%

I can’t believe there are people that would hit dislike.
Over 1,000 people hit the like 9 people hit dislike...there's always going to be people that don't like something. This is enjoyable!
We got a lot of idiots out there my friend, these people definitely can't be human beings.
There are people who click the dislike for the most trifling reasons. They may not agree with the choice of music, the volume is too high/low, a word in the title does not accurately describe the video or a myriad of other trivia.

the macaque was like yo chill i don't do that kind of stuff.
Yeah... Exactly what I was thinking lol!... and I don't know who the announcer thinks she's kidding, but lol that wasn't "interest in his tail", either!
I would do anything for love but I won’t do that.
It is very cute, she tried so hard to be careful and gentle not to scare the macaque. I just wanna hug Wine!
This particular species of macaque seems super chill compared to so many closely related species
Had something to do with them living in rain forest probably. Out of all big apes, Orangutan is the chillest too. And they might also be used to social contact with other species, like humans.
The curly tailed macaques are wild lol
So cute! And it's more common than you think - even happens in the wild, somewhere on RUclips there's footage of a wild baby orangutan playing in the trees with a young gibbon. This probably marks the start of the maternal instinct in this young female orangutan, which is the strongest of all the great apes.
The audio quality is sooo good in this u can hear every piece of fur get scratched and each time the macaque yawns love the bond tho never seen this before cousins not fighting or trying to eat each other❤
I hate to (potentially) burst your bubble, but I think those sounds are added after. :/ Cause think about it, there no mic near the monkeys and if there were there would be hella ambient noises
@@Hephthehomie welp its kinda debatable since you or me not 100 percent sure could be added yes or not we can mostly only presume
@@Hephthehomie yeah. Or maybe they just use very good mic that can record sound from far.
Check out the Rode directional microphones. I'd put money on all these sounds being real.

This video makes me cry, it's just so beautiful the way the animals are so innocent and loving to one another.

Hats off to the cameraman. This needs superb skill and patient.

"Hoi orange boi"
"Nice tail you got ther"
"Thanks :)"
"My back is itchy"
"Lemme groom it for you"
"You're a good friend"
