I really love the Gex series, this might be my favorite demo. The fart ability is hilarious! I hope it becomes a mainstay ability for new Gex games! It just helps give it a 90s vibe to me!
I used to own Gex 3 back in the day and replayed it like crazy. I don't care what anyone say, it was a fun game packed with TV references, green jokes, and cheesy humor. Being a TV-kid this was peak fun
I would have loved it if this became a full game. I love the kind of humor they were going for in this and if all of these mechanics stayed in and were given functions that helped level progression, like it would be hilarious if the fart button could stun or knockout enemies or if there were torches or something, maybe have it blow fire onto something that needs to be caught on fire in puzzles. I love that he mentions Teletubbies. I'd hope if it were expanded upon he'd also reference stuff like Thomas and Spongebob. I really like Gex and would be delighted if something like that were actually made. I'd hope for a lot more 90s styled levels as well.
More coverage of this somewhat obscure bit of gaming news is always nice to see and it does it's job in summarising what this Gex Jr actually was; a game pitch, an quite an accurate one to the character from what I know. Gex would indeed work perfectly as a sort of time-capsule of 90's and I feel would be a more preferential route than trying to update him to fit a modern audience in terms of tone/humour.
I would definitely hope they’d keep it feeling as 90s as possible if they ever brought Gex back. Though, if they did want to change him up, one way I think they could make the character work is if they had him entering the worlds of other games, rather than tv channels.
Im not sure which developer quote you saw but the one that I saw said that this was in fact supposed to be gex. This was supposed to be like a nick Jr., Disney, nickelodeon channel which is why gex looks like a kid and his lines are about children shows.
Here’s where I saw the quote from the developer. He says “I don't really recall if Gex Jr. was a younger version, or Son, or what." This is the original place the prototype was uploaded to. I’m guessing you saw the information you got on the Gex Wiki, which anyone can edit, so I’m not sure if it’s the most reliable source. hiddenpalace.org/Gex_Jr._(Jan_25,_2001_prototype)

Gex is my favorite series of all time, so original and funny, wish we could get an HD remake or release for new systems

The fart attack is hilarious! If there is a new Gex game, I demand that they put it in!
Here’s hoping Gex’s new owners decide to do something with the IP

@@LegendOfGames Well with the amount of games that Embracer Group now own, that idea is certainly a viable one.
Now that Gex is free from the Square Enix Prison, maybe someone will consider a fourth game? That would be proof we aren't in the worst timeline.
Gex Jr? That would have been cool.
Yeah, I definitely would’ve enjoyed it at the time.
I'd pay anything for a new gex
Hopefully enough people buy the upcoming remasters. Renewed interest could lead to a new game
