The lilypads' music is different without the constant squidshark sounds. Interesting. I'd begun to think they were a part of it in all honesty actually-
I love this game even more than the original. Especially the soundtrack. Fav ones are: 5. Kelp Caves 4. A Study in Parhelion Red 3. Mercury II 2. Cathedral 1. Crystal Caves
I like to imagine that the bonus tracks, Twilit Waters and The Dark, were supposed to be the tracks that played in the biome where the ice dragon would have been. I guess it was cut because there was no reason to implement a large enough area for the ice dragon to roam, while being super deep down.
Yeah, Simon Chylinski and Ben Prunty don't have exactly the same style, but I like them both :D Some of Simon's tracks had an atmosphere I can't find back in this OST
Thank you for compiling this! A bit different than the first game. Plenty acceptable IMO, though a bit vague. I’m more than half way through (track 35) and enjoying it. Now I’m curious how many synth factory presets were used. The sound reminds me a lot of the newer offerings from Roland, Korg and the like. Synths with a simple press of a note or chord and a twiddle of a morph stick, give you an entire ambient soundscape in one shot. I am a bit surprised how thin the mix is. I don’t appreciate the audio appeal of the new “bright and loud” mix fad. Some of the tracks have really piercing high frequency material. I guess people are going deaf, loosing their high end hearing or something. It allows louder pre-amp levels but really robs the music of size and power. With Loudness Contour activated on my amp, it’s MASSIVE and much more brings visions of the game. It also helps balance those occasional resonant swells. IMO this OST, like most I’ve heard of this type, relies too heavily on fancy synth patches. Being a synth nut though, I like it plenty. Definitely has a spacey feel to it IMO which I love. No tracks really stand out to me, making a pretty even ride, which is good for a game IMO. : ) Makes me want to go back and listen to the original game’s OST to compare.
"A Study In Parhelion Red" and "Lily Pads" will forever be my favorite tracks in this game. They sound so beautiful and they play in my favorite biome in the game. One of the few reasons why the Lily Pads biome is my favorite and why I love building bases there.
Gotta be honest, I love this soundtrack a little more. This one has much more immersive and cool music that I just love. I really liked most if not all of the first ones, A Continuous Thrum, and a little more further on. They all suit the environments they play in, like the kelp forest, the crystal caves, arctic peeper, etc. I just love this game a lot and now I just have to go play it again.
My favorite is "In Search Of Familiar Harmonies." It's so peaceful and it kind of captures something from the original Subnautica score by Simon Chylinski.
Don't get me wrong, I loved this game but it just wasn't on par with the original. However the soundtrack to this game was absolutely epic! Whoever scored the sound to the various parts of below zero are legends and I'd love to shake their hands!
I agree, the first subnautica was very iconic. The problem with below zero is that its treated as a standalone game where as its more of an expansion to the original one, and honestly I loved every bit of it
Yea.. below zero. Feels more easy and straight forward. I am already in the crystal caverns without guides.. and having 2 out of 3 architect thingies.. while the original subnautica had me open a guide for every damn step
Cathedral and The Ice Worm are my favorites. Cathedral is pretty self explanatory, where you get to see the majestic Vent Gardens. The Ice Worm is a fitting title. And it captures the suspense and feeling of impending danger when heading into the Arctic Spires. You're about to be dealing with the most dangerous creature in Below Zero, one you cannot defend yourself from. The music in this game is really good, and that cannot be said enough.
I really like Below Zero , this soundtrack perfectly conveys the atmosphere of the north 4546b and the atmosphere of space.Ice Floes is also very good, you can be sad for it)))
I think both games had their ups and downs. I had a few creative issues with the sequel, partially what they decided to change from the original story. It was still amazing but it lacked urgency in my opinion that the original managed to convey. It was nice having more than one character (outside of voice logs in the sequel)I but I also wanted more to the story for Sam, it seemed more cut and dry. But one thing I can say for sure is that the music for both games is amazing. Both are great and will go down as two of my favorite games of all time. I can’t wait to see a third one get made in the future.
Has my base is in the lily pad biome, lily pad is my favorite song, followed by cathedral and then crystal caves, the below zero.(the song) thins game is awsome
I bought and finished the game this week, during the ending phase of my covid quarantine... I wanted and truly needed something that could distract me and bring my mind away when I was missing some important commitments while unable to exit home... I loved original Subnautica like no other game. I thought: "if this second game is just a half of the original it's worth". Well, nothing to say... it is just stunning!! Generally sequels are not like the original: you play a game with same mechanics, same kind of story and so on. This is, in part true, also for BZ... BUT! Production menage to write another original story, powerful and emotional like the original one that can literally bring you in another world. I'm getting older and my videogame passion is going a bit down compared to years ago... Studies, work... A lot of things to do and to think to. But with this kind of games we are on another level. Seriously, I haven't played an involving and immersive game like this one since first subnautica. And, for a "little" game, this is superb. I mean, in my humble opinion, only elder scrolls saga and some final fantasy titles can compete with this one. And the music... masterpiece! I loved the differences, the styles and the perfect fit for various biomes and situations, in both games. I generally don't write comments but this time I make and exeption. Because I wanted to publically point out that Unknown World is leaving the concept of game to approach the concept of Art. I'm very excited for chapter three and I hope production will remain on this line because its work is kinda cathartic. To people that haven't played this game yet, If you want something that can make you forget for a while real problems and worries, go full immersion into 4546B. When you finished, you will be ready to face whatever awaits ;)

I feel like if we got a Simon/Ben collab in a Subnautica game it’d be the perfect amount of calm and chaos all together
Thanks for the soundtrack! I`ve been playing this on loop while writing my thesis, works really well as background music
Anyone else come here looking for what is "A Study In Parhelion Red" My favorite one! I love hearing it play.
subnautica definitely is a go to survival game and is so fun! love the sound track, thanks for making studying easier.
Yessssss studying!!
Spinefish is the funniest song and I honestly love it
I went to the Mercury II and I start hearing funny sounding beats.
Now I know what the song name is and I love it. It's funky as hell after you dive deeper into the song
Some people might hate BZ but its soundtrack feels like it has much better feeling than soundtrack of original subnautica. It's bit less creepy but in general it sound much better.
I agree 100% expect I don’t hate BZ
People hate below zero? I honestly have preferred it to the original game. I much prefer games with an actual emphasis on story, which is where the original Subnautica fell short in my opinion
@@jackbassett3091 dude I’m with you 100% on that!
@@jackbassett3091 Yeah but the problem with BZ is that the story sucks and they not even bother to fix things like the inventory management or that the map feels somewhat unpolish, Im not mad about the size of it but the quality of, the land parts are boring as hell they are only interesting for the story progression but as I said this story sucks so is a lose lose situation.

I think the story was pretty good. The ending was underwhelming, but I liked the focus on the story and the story itself. I do agree that the biomes should have been fleshed out a bit more, they are good. In my opinion, the best biomes in Below Zero are better than the best biomes in Subnautica.
My favorite is “I Am Relieved It Is Still Frozen”…
*Aren’t we all*
Excellent soundtrack. There is an intriguing and mysterious fusion of futuristic ambience and tropical/deep jungle vibes that I really enjoy.
I remember hearing A Study In Parhelion Red while I was in the Lily Pads biome looking at the Glow Whales. It honestly sent shivers down my spine
I have listened to this so many times it is one of the best game soundtracks out there.
Honestly already one of my favorite video game scores ever
Entering the crystal caves with that music was amazing, stayed for the music, chilled with the leviathan.
2:13:44 The credits man... After Al-an says he is ready for whatever comes his way if Robin is with him... I cried so much. It is such an amazing game that I adore sooo much! I really enjoyed playing Subnautica Below Zero, as well as Subnautica. Great games.
The lilypads' music is different without the constant squidshark sounds. Interesting.
I'd begun to think they were a part of it in all honesty actually-
2:13:48 is my favorite song on this list
SAME!
Edit: actually I think my favorite song is Ten Thousand Souls.
But still the credits music is so good too!
4:03 Welcome to 4546b is so under rated
It’s a good one
They are all underrated
Also yeah Welcome To Planet 4546b is so good!
@@Electranica that’s the point.

I love this game even more than the original. Especially the soundtrack. Fav ones are:
5. Kelp Caves
4. A Study in Parhelion Red
3. Mercury II
2. Cathedral
1. Crystal Caves
This game’s soundtrack is amazing.
52:34 this track has such a great Stranger Things / It Follows vibe
I like to imagine that the bonus tracks, Twilit Waters and The Dark, were supposed to be the tracks that played in the biome where the ice dragon would have been. I guess it was cut because there was no reason to implement a large enough area for the ice dragon to roam, while being super deep down.
God I hope so
@Chancellor Palpatine huh
2:41 bro that gives me a big adrenaline chills, and gets me hyped to play the game bro!
yea!
Love the "tingling" sounds throughout the soundtrack, makes me feel cold, and far away from home
when u realize that Subnautica is just Astronaut in the Ocean
I love this game
"What you know 'bout rollin' down in the deep..."
subnautica ost:relaxing calm music
Subnautica: Below Zero OST:tons of synth
Yeah, Simon Chylinski and Ben Prunty don't have exactly the same style, but I like them both :D
Some of Simon's tracks had an atmosphere I can't find back in this OST
8:22
I can see where your coming from, but trust me, the original OST could be creepy or adrenaline-rushing as hell when it wanted too.
@@thermospice6617 Which was why I loved it :D
I think it’s the other way around
Say what you want about Below Zero, but the soundtrack really stepped it up.
When the music stops it's the real fear (specially if this happened to you in crystal caves)
2:02:23
They are watching. They are waiting.
This comment is terrifying lol
I’m not afraid of oversized shrimp
This music is just so incredible. This is the best music for me!

I just love this game a lot and now I just have to go play it again.
i really enjoyed Arctic Peeper song. i even love the crature itself. especially when you're exploring the shallows
The subnautica games have some of the best music from any video game ever made
1:57:40 is my favourite, it kinda fits the crystal cave for me
I agree. This was actually meant for the crystal caves at first but they changed it.
@@ILeeT wish they didn't change it! it's so damn fitting
@@Rhino123freak but the new one is much more dread inducing, and feels like an end location
Just absolute lovely music for a lovely game
Yeah 👍
Lily pads is hands down the best song, it's so majestic and eery at the same time.
100% agree, its fits the biome so well with the beautiful flora and fauna, not counting those darn squid sharks
@@lukeinafter1293 lol I know right!
My favorite is "In Search Of Familiar Harmonies." It's so peaceful and it kind of captures something from the original Subnautica score by Simon Chylinski.
@@munkee_man that's another one of my favorites
Mt base is in the lily pads, so I get jam to it all the time. I also realy like crystal caves tho
I just found out that this is the same guy that did the music for FTL, which is a masterpiece. So awesome!

Crystal Caves is my favorite of all the others music in BZ. Sends shivers down my spine

Don't get me wrong, I loved this game but it just wasn't on par with the original. However the soundtrack to this game was absolutely epic! Whoever scored the sound to the various parts of below zero are legends and I'd love to shake their hands!
I agree, the first subnautica was very iconic. The problem with below zero is that its treated as a standalone game where as its more of an expansion to the original one, and honestly I loved every bit of it
I feel like the leviathans are not as scary due not as as aggressive fauna are really loud
Yea.. below zero. Feels more easy and straight forward. I am already in the crystal caverns without guides.. and having 2 out of 3 architect thingies.. while the original subnautica had me open a guide for every damn step
@@Recker1125 I wouldn't say needing a guide is a sign of a good game, lol.

Slow burn is a slept on banger
ben prunty a legend
People give this game a hard time because "it's not as good as the original", but you can't lie, this is one of the best soundtracks in a game.
thanks for editing this
Cathedral and The Ice Worm are my favorites.
I really like Below Zero , this soundtrack perfectly conveys the atmosphere of the north 4546b and the atmosphere of space.Ice Floes is also very good, you can be sad for it)))
What if Ben Prunty agrees to work alongside Gareth Coker? I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it.
Explain please
I think both games had their ups and downs. I had a few creative issues with the sequel, partially what they decided to change from the original story. It was still amazing but it lacked urgency in my opinion that the original managed to convey. It was nice having more than one character (outside of voice logs in the sequel)I but I also wanted more to the story for Sam, it seemed more cut and dry. But one thing I can say for sure is that the music for both games is amazing. Both are great and will go down as two of my favorite games of all time. I can’t wait to see a third one get made in the future.
This OST is MAGIC. Like hearing Phendrana Drifts from Metroid Prime. It has this winter / snowy vibe to it.
Real homies know how hard Ice Floes hits when you’re strolling through the vents biome

Im not scared by 3 giant Void Leviathans that will be more than happy to eat me but nope, im scared of the music it plays!
Shadow Leviathan is...Terrifyingly strong, with its bass....
The Below Zero map was a trip.
56:59 amazing
