Thanks for the video… I’m looking to buy one of these and did wonder what the difference is between the heater and non heater version is… now makes total sense.
I've got this unit and have just (2 mins ago) fitted the heater unit to it. Mine has been in and running in my bungalow for 2 years (without a heater). I had a lot of condensation when we first moved in. Put the piv on a 2 room setting and it made little difference (2 bed bungalow) so I put it on max for 5 beds and now we have no condensation at all. It's worked great for us so far. We did find the hall where the piv vent is, is colder than the rest of the house hense why we have fitted a heater unit. I'm setting it on 10c because I don't understand the instructions and will plug an energy monitor in to see when the heater comes on. (It records when the watts on the piv goes up and for how long)
To cut a circle you can put a screw on the centre and tie some string on it with a pencil at the radius length, then you’ll have the exact size and exact place you need ✌️
13:40 I also found that the filters collapse quite considerably when the unit is in operation - reducing the surface area; In the brochure and images all the filters appear to be fully expanded/extended which is somewhat misleading in my opinion.
I bought myself a cheap Diesel Heater that blows hot fresh into the house. Sounds like it does exactly the same thing while it's also heating up my house...
My girlfriend has one of these units and it is the heater version similar to yours, hers is constantly blowing out cold air, without instructions, and operating instructions I was wondering what setting on the control panel is in relation to getting it to blow out heat not cool air! I noticed one called (c10) from the menu and imagine you up this value to 20? But not 100% sure! Any help would be great
Yes that's correct , at 20 it means if temp in loft drops below 20 heater kicks in so the air should be slightly warmer blowing into the house. It doesn't mean that the temp will be 20 degs being blown in . I'm sure I read somewhere heater is a max of 12 legs anyway 🤔
@jackearlam2963 yea they claim it's a fiver a year to run 🤣 obviously not when running the heater !! It's 500w so if it's 38p per kwh that's working out at 18p ger hour to run !
Yea they will as its a fixed device tbh a plug with the correct fuse will be just as safe obv if in a rented property do it as per manual and get a fixed fuse spur put in.
great vid. I have the same unit but can't access the settings as the unit has a lock code that I don't know, is there a reset code to access the settings if you know can't find it anywhere online.
You are so right. I didn't find the instruction easy. To be honest, I used the mode button and where it says 'c', and I put that up to 19°c. My does give out a bit of a cold air but it's not cold as the loft space air. I am assuming it is working. Apart from the cold air around the lobby apace I haven't noticed any difference. I guess it's too early to tell. Maybe good for health as my family suffer from asthma. Do keep me updated on how it goes for you. Thanks.
@@DIY_Easy thanks. Will give that a try. Just moved into a new build were the unit has been installed but finding the hallway a tad cold (I know we’re in winter lol) even when heat has been on for awhile. Will see how it goes.
I can you explain in video about the commissioning of this unit and final setting. I get installed this unit around 2 months but not seeing any major difference.
Ive got the same exact piv system, ive had it over 6 months now and see a big difference, i used to get condensation and damp in my living room, now I don’t see it, only get condensation in my bedroom due to the door being closed and 3 people sleeping in one room
Hi, I've just installed the same piv unit. Like everyone else unable to increase heater! I cycle through each mode looking for something that looks like increase heat. But all looks like alien language lol. Can anyone please just say what symbols to look for and how to increase temp. Thanks
Yep, it works great. Mine is an unheated version.I have two two-bedroomed Bungalow. I have the unit set on 1 bedroom setting meaning a very small airflow but that is enough to solve all my condensation problems which had all the double-glazed windows running in water. Windows dry by the next day. Transformed our bungalow. And cool air coming from the unit is almost unnoticeable
Thanks for sharing. Looking to get one in our house as it suffers damp and mould at the moment. It’s a constant battle. Have you found it makes a big difference?
fitted 3 in rented houses they were nu aire - solved the problems within a couple of days and been working for years with no problems - tried everything before with no success including de-humidifier which just filled a bucket of water overnight with no change to condensation
I hear the heater is 400w so having that on 24/7 could be quite costly? 22p per hour or so (2023 kw rates Uk) Did you set yours to max temp and max fan speed? And have you noticed any crazy hike in utility bill? 😊
I haven't noticed any spike on my bill I don't think it is much as you say as it probably doesn't use 400w constantly. I am still keeping my eyes on it and testing it. My main concern is Mould on my walls, and so far nothing yet.
Depends on the filters you use. The standard filters aren't the best, but you can buy better ones for under £30 which will filter ultra fine particles. I bought the better filters for mine.
Glad you have wired it into the fire alarm so that it's not still blowing air into the house in the case of a fire
You are an absolute hero. Mine just arrived, was totally flummoxed about wiring it in. Thank you.

You can retro fit an addon to these units sold without the heater?
how are you getting on with the new heater fitted? does it cost more than you thought?

I am getting one of these, and that is a brilliant idea, thanks mate

I gotta do this tomorrow. I plan to use an old frying pan and a router with a templating bit on it. The frying pan is 25cm dia so perfect 😅

I’ve just installed one too mate and can’t seem to get the heating element to work so the air is a few degrees warmer going into the house

I’ve had to turn the heater right down as with it on i went from £60 electric a month to £180 a month 🙃

Hi.Mine is the same as yours. But the wind blowing out is cold. Why is there no heat? Do you know why. Thanks
How do you a activate the heater
Go through the Menu on the Sticker until you get to the one for the Heather Setting. It can be set between 5 and 20 deg for when it comes on
Axia told me a fused spur was best to connect power supply
Yea they will as its a fixed device tbh a plug with the correct fuse will be just as safe obv if in a rented property do it as per manual and get a fixed fuse spur put in.
Does it matter what fuse? I can't seem to find out what amps it needs to be..
@@matthewconnell9326in the video he mentioned he used a 3amp plug fuse

Says it in the manual
I second the hardest part is getting that sodding pipe onto the unit!
Ive got one of these and the air coming in is freezing. If anyone can help on how to increase the temperature please let me know
I'm using a 13amp fuse should I use a 3amp? Also what setting did you use
3amp
Where can i find the manual i lost mine need to change the setting please
Did you manage to get the manual in the end
Hello, how do you control the machine when you are not in the loft? Do you have to climb to loft everytime you want to turn it on/off?
yes
It runs constantly and apparently the heater kicks in when the air in the unit falls below a certain temperature
Hiya. Great video. But wondering is you know how to activate the heater? Not having much with the instruction guide lol.

Have you figured out how to set the heating on? Let me know if you do
In the manual it tells you that it requires a switched fused spur with the correct fuse
Yea but a plug with the correct fuse will do the same thing and is just as safe as long as the cable is protected.

Our extractor fan is on a plug hidden 3 amp I spoke to a lecky friend and said he'd done the same as it wasn't ducted

If its got the heater, I believe it only heats the air by 4°.
Have you noticed a difference since installing this? :)
I’ve had mine installed for less than a week, no more condensation at all. Have high hopes we going to have a good winter

This is basically a small 24-7 heater. It's defo going to affect your bills.
The heating is optional, you can turn it off so it is ventilation only.
Heater only comes on at 5 degrees. Or higher if you set it higher

The filter bags have a large spring to keep them in shape.
I've just fitted one and the filters didn't come with a spring and look like the ones in this video

It doesn't run 24/7 it pulses on off every so often
@DIY_Easy Hoow has it been keeping mold at bay and condensation off windows? Have you done an update video
Brilliant makes your house colder and is a massive fire risk in your loft avoid
nope and nope
Ewwww, pumping filthy attic air into living space. Filter doesn't remove ultra fine particles and voc.

fire hazard ? any protection?
Your attic should be well ventilated and not stink. If it does then you've got bigger problems.
