I bought the 2012 1.4TSI at 36K last month and honestly, the best car I've driven vs previous 2018 BMW 225xe, 2017 Suzuki Vitara and 2013 Ford Fiesta. Its the comfort and simplicity, also the head and leg space is fantastic for back passengers and front passengers alike. I cannot fault it so far, just come back from a long 6hr drive on motorways and country roads and it just pulls and drives smoothly.
I got a 2009 1.4 TSI SE auto in August 2021 @ 65k miles for £5.5k from VW with 2 yrs used car warranty - best car I’ve had - vs various Audis and BMWs - Enjoy driving it and so comfortable and easy to drive - managed to get an OEM Apply CarPlay head unit for it too - slightly thirsty though, but apart from that - Amazing!
My partner has had one of these from new (2012). Currently on 85k and never missed a beat. But for servicing I think the only thing that I’ve had to buy for it was a diesel injector. Great car, only regret is that I’d probably go for the 2l diesel next time instead of the 1.6l diesel.
Under the year 2010 I would say the majestic 1.9tdi. After 2010 the 1.6tdi and the 2.0Tdi. The TSI engines have great fuel economy but the reliability it's not that great.
