Total borderline personality. The mood swings, the overreactions to everything. Flies all the way there, visits him once, then has a total meltdown and says she’s never going to see him again and then goes back everyday. I was married to someone like that. It’s utterly exhausting.
The older daughter is bang on. “But you’re the mother”. Her mother said she could ask her anything then kicked off when she asked what she wanted to know which was very valid about how it doesn’t affect just Jodie.
The gaslighting of her daughter was disgusting.
"Don't even ask that" = I lack the emotional maturity to plan for future scenarios. I expect my daughters to pick up the pieces when my poor life choices lead to undesirable outcomes.

Her whole life is about him, not her daughter. She can't or won't leave the house when she's in England, her sleep/ wake pattern is as if she was in the USA and her focus is just him. It's all very unhealthy. Who is really present for her daughter? Mum chose this stranger over her child.

Loneliness is such a powerful emotion. It's obviously driving this woman to go down a rabbit hole that does not serve her children well. She says she feels trapped, which is true. "Who in their right mind is involved with someone on death row?" No one. Her loneliness has trapped her in a dysfunctional relationship, which is hurting her children. God help them.

I think these women like a ' safe' relationship... One that can never become real. They seem to attach this to a belief that they alone can transform and save the prisoners. The monster who abducted, raped, and took the life of my 18 y/o cousin in 1997 was found guilty on all 3 counts and sentenced to death. However, on his last appeal, he was found “not competent” for execution. He will sit on death row for the remainder of his disgraceful life with his stupid pet cat

I've watched Love After Lockup. While the man is incarcerated, it's the woman who has the power because she doles out his commissary money. The relationship doesn't last outside of prison because, with his new freedom, he can't abide by the rules of parole and breaks them - drugs, alcohol, violence, etc. Not a good relationship foundation.

@@annenelson5656Some prisons don't allow phone calls to cell phones, so could be that..also the cost of international call to cell may be too high(?). I know when my boyfriend was transferred to a new prison..I could no longer receive calls from him on cell, so I had to get a land line(hadn't had one in years..no need). Then another one wouldn't allow calls on cell phone unless it was a "contract"phone. Again hadn't had contract phone for years, as they were way more expensive than my prepaid and I got way less but off I went to get one or we can no longer talk. I spent alot of $ so we could talk

My late father asked me once as a woman, why would women seek love with an inmate. My only explanation is that these women can't hold down a regular relationship so they feel safer this way. They essentially get to call the shots because the incarcerated guy isn't going anywhere. He has very little to occupy his time each and every day and ergo, enjoys the flattery of women on the outside. I think these women are sadly deluded if they think that if/once freed, they will live with their glorified pen pals happily ever after. I suppose there is an element of financial incentive too - flatter a woman and get more commissary. I don't think these relationships are ever destined to work upon release. No disrespect but a love-lusting guy is not likely to settle down with a ready-made family. He's more likely to say 'So long and thanks for all the fish' before straying off with women of a more suitable age and someone more outgoing and exciting. So in essence, I sometimes wonder if these men are actually looking for more of a mother figure.
As a former female correctional officer in a male prison, I can say this woman is walking a precious line.
Same here ! I’ve seen plenty of ladies like these every weekend turning up for visits, they enjoy having a boyfriend/husband on a part-time basis. No having to do his washing, cleaning, no fighting, no cooking, they enjoy the spicy love letters back and forth, the list is virtually endless. As the inmates date of release gets closer,some of the ladies aren’t quite so keen, and by the time the guy gets released the girl has gone and no one has a forwarding address. ( I’ve also seen some of the guys with at least 2 families. One lot troop in, in the morning and the 2nd lot come in after lunch ). With having to book visits in advance, there’s no way they can get caught out. 😮

The first lady is in la-la land.
My husband wasn't on deathrow, but he was mentally institutionalized because of all the years he did do inside the walls of prison.
He did 29 years altogether but in different different stents.The longest term he did was 13 yrs., for a murder rap, I'm not a zombie because he Got it over charge from murder to manslaughter in his appealing process.
And after he got out that is the time when I met him, back in 1999.
He went back in 2001 and got 9 yrs. he did 7yrs. I waited for him, and married him in prison in 2006. He was released in 2009, too only go back in 2011.
He got out that time in 2016.
Here's my point, he then commented suicide in 2021.
His death sentence. Due to mental issues, he wasn't willing to admit to in order to get the Necessary, and badly needed help for, instead he couldn't deal with it and took his self out of it. 😢
He was 63 years old. No one, including myself could have ever thought he would let alone could do that to himself.
So, wake up pls. men in prison go though a lot, and once out some can't even function in society again like they once had.
Metal health is apart of this and many men get out having more problems within themselves than they will admit to themselves let alone too anyone else. And the suffer bc of it.
I went through all of this with him, hoping one day we would grow old together bc he convinced me we could and would. I spent all of my & 40's and most of my 50's believing in this lie. 😢

I was incarcerated in from 2011 to 2017 and I got into some trouble in 2012 and went to northern branch which is Marylands maximum security penitentiary an I remember during my time at that prison maryland finally removed the death penalty from the state an seeing them move the inmates one at a time all day from the death row cell block back into population it was a surreal moment.
You watched a botched execution of a murderer lady. She voices no sympathy for the families these people have taken loved ones from. She’s neurotic. Can’t even watch the rest of this after the first few minutes. Unhinged.

And now you got to ask yourself, Why do I have a need to save someone? Why do I fall for unavailable men? Why do i have a need to feel traped? And you go back to your childhood and you realise there was somone unavailable (a parent?)who you tried to save from themselves or addiction or similar. And you realise you are only trying to heal your core wounds so you're putting yourself through the same relationship over and over again. Heal core wounds and set yourself free from the prison you have now created for yourself. Emdr, Narp.

I can understand the falling in love with aspect,but someone on death row no way. You never have a chance for a real life with them. My mother met my stepfather after he,d been released from a 20+year stint for armed robbery (armed because he said he had a weapon but didnt). I definitely had my reservation, but he treats her better than anyone else she's ever been in a relationship with,just a super sweet guy who made a real bad decision while addicted to heroin.
No chance of a real life with them is the attraction for these women; it's a psychological affliction.

There is something seriously wrong with someone who wants a relationship with someone who has taken someone else's life. Who cares if a killer dies in an uncomfortable way, do they consider their victim, no they bloody don't. This woman clearly can't have a normal relationship, she doesn't care about her innocent children. This is all wrong, you can't love someone you've never even met or spent actual time with them.. My god she is so immature! It's totally embarrassing... why doesn't she get a job! And spend more investment in her kids. Is she getting off being with a murderer! Living in another country. If you can't tell your kids he's on death Row then that says it all. Think her eldest daughter is more mature. Yet mention he may die and that changed she got rather nasty with her daughter, not good at all. This is painful to watch. Feel for both her kids, very selfish women

Your children don't come first. Your life is dedicated to this in mate, you can't even talk about him being put to death so what will you be like when he does? Your own daughter thinks you will fall apart! You have had your 12 year old build a relationship with someone who will probably be put to death, how will that affect her. And if he did get out, are you going to have this murderer around your children, my guess would be yes and that's terrifying to me. You need to talk to a specialist in my opinion because I think possibly your choice to do may be connected to your past crappie relationships. I just hope this causes minimal damage to your children because this is already affecting them, and I personally worry for them! They both still need you.
Having watched the whole thing, I'd say she is a total drama queen. I think she also thinks she is incredibly intelligent (which is not the case listening to her).
Sorry but what is the point of having a long distance relationship with a death row inmate…they are just torturing and kidding themselves. They live in a fantasy world. They will never be able to physically hang out with each other, make love…no nothing. Then bring her daughter in the picture….she’s sick and should seek some professional help. She’s just making it all worse for everyone involved.
