Nice video..., I bet the paint department got tired of painting the units into CSX colors, considering Seaboard System was 4 years earlier and Chessie still had old paint schemes as well......
At the time frame of this video. I was watching the colorful CSX through a railfans eyes. Who would of thought in seven short years..... I would become a employee of CSX.
I grew up in Cincinnati, but left in 1973 when I went into the Air Force. I usually got back starting in 1978 around four times a year to visit my parents. So that is when I started to Railfan.
0:47 I guess that's an RS5T, sounded more like a sick and oddly low-pitched K5LA to me at first. Regardless, definitely a sick horn. Also, general note, it looks like at least 90% of the horns here were RS5Ts, with an RS3L here and there. They were absolutely dominant back then
My name is Levi sheets I have a question about the chassis system 62-34 did it have an Leslie's s5a or didi it have a lesslie s_3j horn in the video it is the 2 loded coal train please let me
Chessie used S3Ls, Seaboard used S5Ts and their "RS" variants. CSX at the time used whatever horns they could find for their units before the K5LA and K5H/K5HL became commonplace until the 2000s. Since 2005, the K5LA and K5HL are now the only horns you'll hear, apart from the rare K5HR24.
I started to video in Cincinnati in late 89 till 97 when I visited home. I have videos from then on my channel. I don’t get home much since both of my parents are gone now Thanks for watching Artimus
May 1991...I was ten turning 11 on May 24th. Oh the world looked and felt so different back then.
I totally agree, thanks for watching!
Love that RS5T
Thanks Derrick!
Great shots of the motive power,,,, would've been nice to see the makeup of the freight cars too!
Great video anyhow!👍👍
Back in the 90s I was more into power and not freight cars.

Thanks William! That was a great time because you could still see all the old paint schemes. I loved that time!
Good catches!
Thanks! A lot of my CSX was shot when I went home to visit my folks.

Sorry Levi, I’m not a horn expert. I don’t really know.
