  • Filmed during our trip to Cumberland MD in June 1990. The opening scene is helpers returning downgrade. Next, we are at the East portal of Sand Patch tunnel where a mixed merchandise train was stopped short of the cross-overs on the West end to allow two trailer trains to go ahead running wrong-way on track #2.
Turn up your sound to hear the brakes releasing on the tank cars on the stopped train. The cars move backward as air fills the tanks.
Next we have the weed sprayer train and a brief look at Wills Creek. The CSX in follows Wills Creek all the way to Cumberland. The creek starts as a trickle at the East portal of Sand Patch tunnel and grows as is flows south. Several areas of the creek have flooded over the years and a piece of track from one of the floods still sits in the creek. Part 2 to follow.

You are right, I don't know why either. I had made VHS copies of some of these over the years to share with my friends and at our train club. I only thought about You Tube this past February. I have a lot more to put up. Thanks for looking!
