They probably could have portrayed William and Kate's wedding, but they also stopped it at the right time, with the Queen contemplating her life and reign. I love that they had all three versions of Elizabeth sharing the screen for the first time. 👑😍
I think the changes were okay, like having the William and Kate plot connected to when he receives the news of the queen mother’s death. It shows that he was interrupted doing something else with his private life, anyway. And exactly when they became more then friends in university is not that bad either, it made good television. Also liked the finale. Overall, second half of this season was great!
I cried so much in the last season. For the princes, for Margaret (what an amazing scene when the two girls come back to the castle and she says she can't follow her sister but will always be by her side), for when the counsellor resigned, for the last scene when Elizabeth contemplates her reign while sleep, dearie sleep plays. It's a marvellous ending for a great show. Bravo to everyone involved, really. It's so, so rare for a series to show so much consistency in quality.
the last episode got me teary eyed and huge amount of goosebumps on how well the entire series ended, especially the last long scene with bagpipes playing "Sleep Dearie Sleep" the emotion seeing herself in the future hits so hard on me, I watched the funeral on live last year... and its accurately surreal
7:50-7:55 The thing about the Chile expedition is that it was a very popular opportunity for their generation, and Kate Middleton actually went first, and Prince William only attended months later. So no, Kate (now the Princess of Wales) didn't follow Prince William to Chile. She was there first and they were never there together.
Is it just me or did anyone else wish they did a little black screen with a blurb for HRM ERII at the end. Like "Queen Elizabeth died at Balmoral in her XX year after 70 years of service...." I just feel like it would have been the cherry on top that would have had me in tears.
8:23 this scene is so joyful. Elizabeth dancing. And generally this episode is the joy and the sadness at the same time. The last scene is so emotional. I was like no please this is too emotional. Young princesses walking back to the palace Margaret suddenly stop and Elizabeth asked are you going? And than old Margaret appeared and said I am afraid not but I always be by your side. 😭😭😭 It was episode about her dying. About her last days.
There were NO photographers at St Andrew’s. I was there too and lived next to W & K. Also, if any student asked for an autograph they would be seen as soooo lame. Will was treated just like another student.
You're right. I remember at the time he gave the press a single photocall buying milk etc in a local shop and after that they left him completely alone. There were no other pics/footage of him at uni.
I wondered about that as the school autograph seekers in the program did not ring at all likely to be true. Can’t imagine a school that accepted a royal not having strict protocol or practices about that sort of thing.
Kinda unimpressed that in the episode Alma Mater, that a teenage Kate Middleton met Princess Diana and Prince William in 1996. Very much FICTIONAL but the season was very interesting.
I cried during the episode where William hugged his father. I wanted it to keep going. I wanted to watch William and Catherine get married. And I wanted to watch the queens funeral. It was such a grand occasion. I don’t believe Catherine’s mother was that scheming though.
I have to admit when i watched the last episode I got a little teary eyed. Not becasue it was the end of the show but due to what the last episode portraied really really well. They did the same with Margrets passing. Very well done. Great show and I know there was a lot of back lash on certain things from things being left out to things being made up. Fact was it was never meant to be a documentary about her life and her reign it was a show a mix of fiction and fact.

Considering the turmoil surrounding the abdication of her uncle, i doubt she would've considered abdicating. If her health warranted it, if she had developed Alzheimer's, for example, Charles as regent was s more likely scenario
That was a really good series, the one where Diana died was still hard to watch & even though I knew what was about to happen, when they were in the hotel before the accident I was willing her not to get into that car, I guess some wounds are still a bit raw even after all this time.

I think they should have covered all the time right up to the Queen's death and maybe even King Charles' first year. It was like they stopped it when it was about to get interesting. Maybe 2 more seasons.
I believe the creator said they thought that their should be 20 years or more between when the event happened and when it's seen on tv. He never ended to take us up to today. It was intended to end in the 2000s. Though personally I thought it should of ended at Prince William and Catherine's wedding.
Yay, another top from "The crown" , i haven't watched it, but, it looks like an interesting series. Have a happy tuesday afternoon, Emely. Take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia to you as well.
I also thought it was very well done. Harry’s personality during those years has been very much written and talked about regarding his jealousy for his brother and he being on the defense , and was given no accountability for many of this “teen age” mistakes….spilling over into his misguided adult life!! I did not like Catherine’s mother shown as a manipulative parent as I do not believe this at all… in real life Catherine and William did not seem to get together until after the famous “fashion show”….. regardless all in all it was very likable and the actress that plays the Queen was amazing and soooo believable. It showed once again how dedicated and amazing the sovereign truly was. I loved Queen Elizabeth and I am American…. Warming up to KC who doesn’t have her sparkle and aura… which William seems to have!
They gave everyone in the royal family a dignified ending except for Harry. They basically left his storyline on his acting out, which feels like a jab towards his admitted mental health issues. The last two seasons feel very biased towards the royals, which isn’t shocking considering the royals have been in cahoots with the press. Whereas the other seasons felt more authentic and true to the history.
Very little of The Crown was authentic. Dame Judi Dench demanded a disclaimer stating words to the effect that it was a fictional dramatisation inspired on real events.
You obviously didn't read Robert Lacey's book "Battle of Brothers" about William and Harry. He said Kate's mom absolutely orchestrated the relationship between her daughter and William, and that Kate constantly threw herself into William's path. She wore that see-through skirt like a nightie because William was in the audience.
Because you call yourself a Royal biographer that does not mean you are an official Royal biographer . Did he get information from one or more of the people he has written about ? He is the same as all the other writers he can guess and surmise from tittle tattle .
Kate’s mom playing matchmaker was the single stupidest plot line in this whole series. Wrong on Elizabeth and Margaret sneaking out to join the WWII celebrations. King George VI and Queen Elizabeth gave them permission.
I’m unclear on how or why the Queen had any say so in what happens to the government of the UK. I assumed she had nothing to do with running the continent or country.
She certainly has nothing at all to say about the continent ! She has no power whatsoever outside of the UK, just as all the other heads of state on the European continent don’t have any power in the UK.
As a constitutional monarch, technically the government and the PM run the country on the King/Queen's behalf, with their permission. The PM reports to the monarch once a week and they (the King/Queen) have to sign all acts of parliament i.e. laws and give a speech to parliament once a year laying out the government's plans. However, it is in reality a performative function, as if the monarch were to interfere with politics it would cause a constitutional crisis. Nevertheless, I expect no-one will ever know what the Queen said to her PMs in their meetings - I'm sure she made her feelings known from time to time. Personally, I think it can't hurt to have the PM report to "the head" and be personally accountable to them if they abuse the Crown's powers e.g. Boris Johnson misapplying the Queen's prerogative powers, when he had to apologise to her personally.
You need to mention the royal prerogative which means the Crown does see draft bills and has requested amendments that seem to favour their financial interests.
I totally agree that Kate Middleton's mother had her hand on the pulse of what was going on at the University where Kate and William met. I think Kate's mom wanted Kate to be the next Queen.
I cried at times during the episodes . I was smitten by the fact that after 42 years I have been following this family and I finally witnessed history this past May . The Firm is alive and well . No matter how bitter Harry has become . The Monarchy is alive . Tourism had a huge boost . There were people from all over the world during Charles’ coronation . Queen Elizabeth made history in so many ways .
Harry isn't bitter just setting the record straight. Willy is protected from the press and Harry isn't. The way they sent him back to boarding school without counsel was cruel after his mother was killed. He was a little boy.
It's paradoxical how throughout the series the Royal Family kept discussing ways to remain relevant whilst manipulating the public into accepting and praising the role of the monarchy, especially after Diana; it's paradoxical because the series itself might be the very piece of PR they've all dreamed about for years!
Conspiracy theories are popular because they are usually sexier than the truth. Even if said theories are unfounded, convoluted and have been proven wrong countless times.
I will always hope IRL William told IRL Chuckie that he was at fault for Diana's death, that if he hadn't been in love with CPB Diana wouldn't have ended up in Paris in the 1st place.
William and Harry did have tension by their young adulthood. Harry says William often tried to control him. Also, the Nazi costume scene wasn't correct. Harry was deliberating between that and a soldier. Both William and Kate highly encouraged the Nazi uniform and thought it was funny. That decided it for Harry. The Crown downplayed their part in it.
I totally agree with you that it was both William and Kate encouraged Harry to go with the Nazi uniform. It was written in Harry’s book the Spare. Also I think that Harry had a sense that things would be different since Kate entered the family.
But wouldn’t a high percentage of girls at St Andrews have parents doing the same thing at the time? We know about Kate because William ultimately wanted to be with her.
exactly why meagains births are being questioned especially since there are so many stating she had a hysterectomy at 29 her family & ex husband wouldn't it make sense they would know the truth?

Harry isn't bitter just setting the record straight. Willy is protected from the press and Harry isn't. The way they sent him back to boarding school without counsel was cruel after his mother was killed. He was a little boy.
@@user-ch9if6px6r the way he’s been behaving is so bitter . He’s not a happy human being at all .
Okay, why did 60 minutes give Mr. Al-Fayed a platform for his nonsense?
advertising..... big money for 60 minutes airing that interview.
Seriously, they knew what he was saying was bullshit, so why give him credibility by inviting him on the show?
It's paradoxical how throughout the series the Royal Family kept discussing ways to remain relevant whilst manipulating the public into accepting and praising the role of the monarchy, especially after Diana; it's paradoxical because the series itself might be the very piece of PR they've all dreamed about for years!
I enjoyed the last season but the actor playing the Queen didn’t look like her I’m afraid. She looked miserable with her eyes and that wasn’t right.
To bad they didn't do that with Andrew.
Meg Bellamy slays 😊😊😊
Rule 1. Do not believe a single word Tony Blair says/said. Rule number 2, see rule number 1.
Can Harry really believed though?!
Just because he has probably talked too much in the last few years, doesn’t mean what he’s saying isn’t true.
Imagine Free University, take any course you want and you gripe it is boring.
We have free university for everyone here in Germany . You don’t have to be a royal.
I agree, those courses were a joke. He needed to take constitutional law, business, and environmental science courses. Will is not extremely bright.
I mean, just because school is free doesn’t mean it’s not boring lol
The 😅The 😅
I used to love british english...
Oh, do tell as to why you no longer do
Well, 9/11 certainly didn't help Lord Carnarvon!

Omg
Makes me imagine, how would it be if King William has a half-brother whose father is embroiled in the porn industry.
That so-called accident was no accident.
True
I totally agree with you that it was both William and Kate encouraged Harry to go with the Nazi uniform. It was written in Harry’s book the Spare. Also I think that Harry had a sense that things would be different since Kate entered the family.
According to who?
Best to cite the source of your 'information' regarding the choice of costume, or is it just your opinion?
@@richardwebb2348 it’s Harry’s dreadful book
Fake pregnancy? What happened with Lilibeth and Archie?
Atomic-grade gold digger 😅
Wow!! Royal hypocrites ... mother and daughter tag team on a grieving vulnerable Young Prince.
But wouldn’t a high percentage of girls at St Andrews have parents doing the same thing at the time? We know about Kate because William ultimately wanted to be with her.
I just unsubscribed....your advertisements about making my member hard were utterly disgusting. Goodbye
You saw advertisements?
exactly why meagains births are being questioned especially since there are so many stating she had a hysterectomy at 29 her family & ex husband wouldn't it make sense they would know the truth?
She was definitely pregnant with those two babies ….she was so swollen after the births
i don't get it at all, she was definitely pregnant!!!! plus both kids resemble Harry, there is no way she wasn't pregnant with his kids.
Utter bullshit. Those children look just like Harry and Meghan and she was very obviously pregnant.
That’s complete bullshit. Don’t be so gullible.
The royals usually have 4 signatures of the doctors on the certificate - not in Archie’s case (Lili who knows)
