/* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down the crown Season 6.
-
The first part of the season has just released on netflix and the four episodes have a lot we need to talk about.
There's some major differences that I wanna cover in the video but I also wanna discuss some of the similarities that the show has to real life.
Like The Witcher and the latest Stranger Things season Netflix have decided to split things up. Thus the second part of Season 2 will be releasing later in the year and there's a lot of things we know about the real life history to determine where we could be going. Throughout this video we're gonna be discussing it all and if you enjoy it then please hit the thumbs up. Dont forget to subscribe for our second part coverage as we will be tackling the last half too. With that out the way, huge thank you for clicking this, now let's get into the crown Season 6.
-
Now the main focus of Season 6 centres around the lead up to dianas death and the aftermath of it. Throughout the episodes we see her getting closer to Dodi Alfayed after Season 5 had her going off on the Saint Tropez Holiday. As we saw last Season Dodi was engaged and in real life this was to model Kelly Fisher. In real life after Dodi and Diana were first photographed in July 1996 she held a press conference to announce a lawsuit against him.

Best scene has to be how Mohamed Al-Fayed thought he was going to be drawn into the inner circle with the Spencers and the Royals in shared grief but the Royals and Spencers closed ranks and excluded him and no mention of Dodi's death.
He brought down a prime minister. They would never forgive him for that.
I totally agree with that. It sticked in my heard wether you are rich or known royal families are too arrogant and exclusive.
Well tbh it would be weird to acknowledge in formal speeches the family of a summer-long affair.
@@frname7665exactly !!! She was just dating him to get Dr Khan jealous
@@johannawigg6921. Only man she ever loved.
You cannot talk about the Royal Family during the 1980s and 1990s without talking about Diana. I think that the producers balanced what happened in Paris in a way that did not point complete blame at anyone. I think they handled the Dodi part of the story correctly. There tends to be a huge section of the public who believes Diana had found "true love" with Dodi, when the two had only been dating about a month, and while there might have been affection between them, having 'rushed' into marriage with Prince Charles, they according to Diana had only been on 13 dates before their wedding, I doubt she would have been in such a hurry to marry someone she barely knew, especially not with her two boys to consider. I liked this part of season 6 and look forward to the second part.
ridcilous. Isn't it well known that Dodi was couring Diana because his father told him to, and that he was engaged to Another girl whom he was seeing on the sly
Im hoping that the deaths of the queen mother and margaret in Part 2 arent overshadowed by william. Margaret in particular has been such a huge part of this show, it would be a crime for it to be a footnote.
What is definitely a footnote in these recent seasons is the parallel political story. The queen's relationships with Churchill, Eden, Macmillan etc were some of the most interesting parts for me.
Well let's be frank there: so far this first part of season is bad, and definitely not what the Crown is supposed to be about. I don't watch the Crown to follow a Diana/Al-Fayed vacation in St-Tropez on a yatch and that pissed me off a lot. Yet it's been 90% of that and 10% of 1min long bits back in the UK. The focus on Diana in the later seasons is just way over the top.
Yeah, they talked a bit about Tony Blair and his involvement in Kosovo but not much about his war crimes in Iraq.
I cried so much during episode 4, it was like reliving the trauma of finding out her death.. rip.. she really was the people’s princess 👑 Even though a lot of it was dramatization I like how it added to the real life events. It gave the audience a deeper perspective of how her and Dodi’s death, which made it even more tragic. The scenes of the agreement that was made between the 2 and their ghosts interacting with Charles, Dodi’s dad and the queen was a nice bit of closure. I think that’s what we as the audience needed. I think that they did the first part of the season beautifully, and with such high expectations I think they respected her passing.
My heart goes out to all the royals, especially King Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry, sending many prayers and well wishes ❤ I can’t imagine they would watch the show, but I can imagine seeing the ads and a women who looks like their mother/ex wife must be heartbreaking to see 😢
I cried too. Too much in 4 th episod of 6 th season
In the words of Prince William, "Why are you all grieving for someone you barely knew?" . The kids hated that they were paraded like that and made their mother's death a spectacle.
when did William say this then?@@seraby7151
Diana was my only reason for watching the show at all. This is what I was waiting for and I couldn't ask for a better actress to have played her. The look, the voice, everything! I didn't like them adding things that we all know didn't happen, but beyond that, I don't know why it's getting slammed.
I felt like it was invading the privacy of the Al fayed family. The scenes made me uncomfortable when watching. Did cry a lot during episode 4, but more because it's real life and having lived through it in the 90s. Interested to see Catherine ans William's relationship. Just hope it's respectful. Seasons 1 and 2 of the Crown were the best for sure.
Same 😓
Agree 100%
It was fine. The “ghost” scenes were minor and not as bad as the reviews are making it. They were not talking to ghost Diana, they were talking to her memory, which we see a lot in other films.
If anything the Al Fayad family should be pissed, they pretty much make her death their fault. Charles was also completely unbelievable. I find it hard to believe he advocated for her as much they portrayed. Did the actual Crown pay off the show runners to make him look good?
Definitely agree this season is the weakest.
Sim. Muito fraca. Tem dedo da realeza aí.money.money.money
I definitely agree about the "ghost" scenes. I read the reviews first, but then wondered if I was even watching the same show after I'd seen it for myself. It definitely wasn't as bad as reviewers said although it was a bit on the nose.
I feel like trying to adapt these events onscreen was going to be tricky regardless. I knew that was coming once the show started moving into more current stuff though.
I agree. They get a lot of things right in this series, but this season, I sure don't think Charles was as broken up as they portrayed. He was upset that he and Camilla would be taking heat for hit, sure, but he also was happy that her dying meant he'd likely be able to marry Camilla in time since there's no way he could while she was living. He never wanted Diana to have ANY attention.
@@imscanon When she died, Camilla became public enemy number one for a decade. They waited like ten years to get married. It is a certainty that Diana’s death was a reason. No way in hell they weren’t bitter. Better see that bitterness the second half.
Indeed. It was 8 years before they got married and I think he just wore the public down. lol Like, we all know it's going to happen so fine just do it already, whatever. We don't care anymore. Right? The monarchy was already so messed up it wasn't going to make it worse. I do think though had they said upfront that Camilla would be called Queen rather than Princess Consort as agreed once Charles ascended, the public would have put up much harder of a fight against it. Not even Queen Consort, just Queen. The Queen even said last year it would be Queen Consort. The public didn't even get a say in that, they just did it. So selfish and wrong. She's not even the mother of an heir. No reason whatsoever to give her that title. Even Kate is slated to be Queen Consort, not just Queen. It's long established that only royal blood is Queen or King and their spouse is Consort. It just seems a huge f-u to Queen Elizabeth to give Camilla of all people the same title. What an insult to such a long-reigning monarch. Charles is so bitter he had to wait so long and that his mistress wasn't 'legitimized' quickly enough. It's like he's demanding people love her just as much as Queen Elizabeth! I don't think so bud. @@simonbrushes
I don't understand why this was rated so poorly. It is fantastic! And I don't know why people have referred to Diana as a ghost. It was NOTHING like that. It was people's imagination and recreating conversations you wish you had when someone close to you dies. It is completely normal and they are definitely not ghosts.
Exactly. People are so silly
I think the two actresses who played Diana were excellent. I thought they did a good job handling Diana's story.
The first actress's acting was over the top, especially the voice.
Her nose is nowhere near as large as Diana's huge hooter
For some reason, I don't like this actress, Elizabeth Debickis...I don't think she's natural
i mean, how was the show not respectful? charles was painted in a much better and human way, the queen was presented in a way that absolutely makes sense with respect to previous seasons and makes her character 3-dimensional. they did not show the crash itself or diana's body. the actors did a great job as well. i agree with some comments that the show wasn't necessarily fair towards al fayeds though.
The establishment’s paws were definitely all over it. The producers sold out to the royals, I wonder how much their integrity was worth. How much they got paid to portray the Al Fayed’s like that, I wonder.
It was absolutely not respectful how they portrait Mohammed al fayed that was NOT fair to be honest I felt it's a bit racist just because he's Arab 😢
I still remember how we all sat in front of the tv all day when Di die. I was devastated all over again when watching the crash.
Not only did I cry, but it was like reliving everything I was doing at the time. They seem to take license with the private moments with Diana and Dodi. I didn't think that was cool. I think they overlooked how much we hated the Queen and company. I don't know if Charles spoke up, but I don't think it was just the flowers and people in the streets. We were so upset all the way around.
I get your feelings, but I honestly believe that this was very likely what Diana would have been saying to Dodi. I didn’t think that that pair was in some sort of mad love affair. But of course I didn’t even know them, so…
My whole family was at our grandparents 50th anniversary party at a large hotel when the news broke about Diana. I remember it like it was yesterday, I was 26. She always reminded me of my favorite aunt.
The show is way too generous with Charles. I try to ignore that the actor portraying him is light years more attractive, but the excessive crying is actually shameful given how Charles tortured Diana.
I find it very hard to believe he advocated for her as they portrayed.
agreed. Dislike him and Camilla
I agree
This show based of on real events and actual accounts of what happened although Charles wasn’t innocent and did make mistakes that ultimately hurt Diana he did feel remorseful and did cry for her as she was the mother of his children they were also building a good co-parenting system with one another. There is proof that he cried in the hospital do some research before judging the nurses and doctors who operated Diana after the crash did confirm that Charles was distraught after he came out of the room.
Agree. Charles is a self-centered narcissist and he felt NOTHING for Diana
I wanted to see more of Diana’s work rather than focusing on her love life
I loved it. I thought it was very compassionately rendered with done with respect to the British family and the Al Fayed family. 💕💕
Totally agree with your assessment!
Thanks! I agree it was far better than the reviews suggest. I enjoyed every minute, ghosts included
Cried all over again with Ep. 4 ... and then rewatched Diana's funeral. Because I wasn't crying enough.
I’m just starting episode 4. I feel like the last two seasons were the weakest. I had trouble with the first two episodes of this season, but really liked episode three. I like the way they handled the crash. I found the aftermath very touching, and it even brought tears to my eyes. Of course, we don’t really know what happened with Princess Diana and Dodi behind closed doors that evening, but I thought two things were clear. 1) These were two people who had a lot more living to do and were too young to leave this world, and 2) Dodi’s father pushing him into that whole summer affair really exemplifies the be careful what you wish for sentiment. A good reminder in life to always let your children’s lives unfold without toxic influence. But, we saw this before with the influence on King Charles by his parents to forgo the woman he really loved to marry Diana. Also, wanted to say that the actress playing Diana is spot on. I feel like not only does she capture the essence of Diana, but she reminds me a bit of Audrey Hepburn in how she carries herself.
I cried for all of episode 4.
I believe that Diana’s death impacted Charles greatly!
Guilt is not just a word; and it’s part of the path to redemption.
@@selmahare he probably felt guilty over the marriage but he had no reason to be guilty about her death
I always remember when Diana died (on my birthday), my girlfriend at the time was living in London she called me early in the morning not for my birthday but to tell me to switch on my TV.
The actor who plays Mohamed el Fayed deserves an Emmy as does the actress playing Diana. I thought this whole part one was done so well, not sure why reviews are bad , but I believe fans like it anyway!
1:20 Gloria Allred 🤦🏻♂️🤣
Why am I not surprised?
This part felt uncomfortable. Maybe because we see Dodi's body yet not Diana's which seemed disrespectful to his family. Plus Diana's ghost. Like...why?!
Completely agree that this somehow made him appear as less than. Neither should have been shown.
Yes, show the same respect for both of them
It wasn’t a Ghost, simply the survivors in their thoughts of talking to the deceased, saying what they wished they had said in life.
I am watching the Crown now and think it is very well done. Diana is so real. The others are how they may have been. We are loving this series.
I think that Season 6 Part 1 was well done. It closely follows the actual events, as long as you remember we do NOT know the contents of actual conversations, thoughts and feelings of the members of the families.
I have always felt that Charles and Diana created many of their own problems in life and their marriage. This was compunded by their immaturity and family expectations. Partly their fault and partly not. However, they were adults and failed to handle their relationship responsibly, for themselves, their children and the UK.
By all outward appearances, it seems that Charles' and William's marriages are successful and they are doing a good job of supporting the British people and institutions. I wish them well and continued success.
When you finish episode 4 there is a teaser trailer about part 2. You can see that they cover the wedding of Charles and Camila and the life of William as a bachelor plus dating Cate.
Elizabeth nailed the role of Diana ♥️♥️♥️
Voice was great but I just couldn't get used to how skinny she was in the part.
Diana was anorexic for a period of time but mostly she was super healthy and had lovely curves
I was glad to see how they portrayed Mohamed Al Fayed and his grief. Salim Daw has been the true star of this season.
This doesn't deviate much from the movie The Queen in how it portrays the royal family's reaction to Diana's death, particularly the Queen's reluctance to acknowledge it until she finally gave in to pressure.
The Queen was an amazing movie.
I think it was handled well. Yes, some of these things did not happen. But, is it possible that some of the things the Queen talks about with the ghost of Diana may have been some of the things Her Majesty had on her mind. The same for Charles and his thoughts. As for Mr. Fayed, I think the way he acted in front of the public comes through in The Crown. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and allowing me to share mine.
I have just watched this season & thought it was done very well & with respect, it did bring back memories of that fatal accident & the thoughts of " if only ", also that anonymity is not so bad afterall.
I remember where I was. I was 19 and still at home. My parents and little brother (then 7) had gone on holiday somewhere and I was alone, I was picking them up from the airport on the bank holiday. I was online, and as I didn't normally get to be on the internet all the time (dial up!) I first saw it being mentioned on a forum. Stuck the telly on, saw ITN announce Dodi died, Diana didn't have an update at that point. Went to be, when I woke up in the morning she was dead. Went to pick up my parents and they hadn't heard about it - amazing how unconnected we were in hindsight.
Oh... and having the ghosts was stupid. But the series was still decent, and the wife and I got through it on Sunday afternoon in one sitting. Looking forward to the back 6.
I qthink Dina’s personality was much more beautiful than portraited in this part.
I always thought the crown portrayed Diana as miserable or sort of like a little lamb or worse a dear in the headlights. This narrative completely overshadows Diana’s true warrior like spirit and her incredible determination.
The racial undertones were very obvious and quite honestly you have to emphasize some with AlFayed
It was great. The Queen breaching protocol 3 times: the walkabout upon arriving at Buckingham, her bowing to Di's casket and the flying of the flag over the Palace could have been covered instead of just jumping to the speech, which felt rushed.
I had trouble watching these episodes. Brought back too many memories of those days. I remember it as if it were yesterday.
Honestly they could have done another season, the show is called the crown, but it’s specifically about Elizabeth II, well she died last year so they have more than enough material to go to the end
This was my first time ever seeing or hearing the narrative that Dodi’s father was orchestrating their relationship. Maybe it’s the way the show was written but that entire storyline felt so fake and like it came out of nowhere. I don’t buy any of it but other that it’s been an amazing show
I don't know how old you are, but I remember that in this summer 1997, people always speculated about the real reason of the "relationship" between Dodi and Diana and less people thought it was because of love.
@@Yo19724 I’m 22 so I didn’t live these events in real time but I’ve only ever heard that Di and Dodi were dating, possibly expecting a child and possibly getting married. What they portrayed in the crown came out of left field for me but again maybe it’s the way it was written/filmed. Or maybe I’m just shocked at that turn of events
Do you remember just how painfully sad we all felt that day for William and Harry after their beloved mother died, in fact we had great empathy for the boys/men that carried on for decades after. Yet……
When Harry saw the same kind of treatment happening to his wife and later his children, and was determined not allow history to repeat itself. Soooo many of you had already drank the kool-aid, the royal and British propaganda of disgusting racist hatred, the kind princess Dianna had been fighting against up to the day she died !!!
SHAME ON YOU
How disgusted she would be of everyone of you that has treated her son and his family like they too are not human.
😊😘🇨🇦
Very British of u Paul!! 😂 but for real this was different for the channel but I enjoyed the video! Great job bro! Fish and chips and tea and crumpets for all! Much love man!🤘🔥
The Dodi Diana part was so painful to watch knowing what was coming. Yes, they took liberties with the details, but still so sad
I was 5 so I don't remember much. I think I saw the funeral procession and then went outside to play. It was cool learning about her a couple of years later though.
Diana’s ghost was silly.
It was supposed to be 'minds eye'
I think the monarchy ordered her dead and had a crash to make it look like an accident. Maybe because her star power was rising and would threaten their own mega multi million dollar institution. Times were changing and still are. This felt like high order ptopaganda to make it look like fayed family fault and Charles look good and Queen just some kind of grandma instead of the cold-hearted monarch. Well done, BRF- this still makes you look good and innocent and helps you stay relevant by people talking about you. If it weren't for this, the public would be too bored with you to talk about you.
The creators did a bad job portraying the relationship between Diana and Dodi. They pushed a narrative rather than remaining objective. They filled in gaps that should have been left well alone. I realise it’s a drama but it ruined what could have been an amazing season in my opinion. I demand an alternative ending! 😆
The ending is the same regardless. They died. I don't know what you want.
@@kimm6589 Nothing from you 😘
I think the shaw should end with William & Late wedding and the opening of London Olympics in 2012. I think it a good end when it showed how the royal family really started to engage with the public. The participation of the Queen in the opening. And what Will & Kate represent as the new faces of the monarchy.
Yeah..dodi liked the ring on the jewellers finger so that's the level doesn't it..Charles at least gave diana the chance with a brand new ring , dodi a second hand one cleaned up and delivered by a underworld flunkey.. noice.
I think it was as well done as it could have been given that this season depicted the moment that everyone was dreading.
They towed a tight line on Diana… they didn’t depict the actual crash and they didn’t re-enact / depict her corpse (but did re-enact/ depict Dodi’s). They respected those wishes of the Prince of Wales but they did not honor his request to not depict the funeral walk. I think they chose correctly. Give and take.
On the other hand, the Al Fayeds should be pissed.
100% agree. Was Dodi somehow less than Diana so that his dead body could be depicted? WTF were they thinking there? So disrespectful.
@@DenaInWyo I know right. What was up with that corpse thing? They can show Dodi but not Diana? And we know Dodi didn’t come through that crash looking like that actors corpse. Diana barely had a scratch on her. Dodi was opposite. But I guess all in all, the shows loyalty is to the crown (in this case, Charles, William and Harry) and nobody else.
The Al Fayeds, although I’m not a fan of them for other reasons, come off as the weak villains of that last summer. If people actually believed that part of the storyline, they’d conclude that Mohammad caused her death (as if she could not have said NO to the extra night in Paris and as if she was somehow prevented from putting her own seatbelt on) and that Dodi was not only a massive disappointment as a son but also as a boyfriend (at some point, I started counting how many times he said ‘I’m sorry’ to her after making poor decisions).
The good news is that the writers had the utmost respect for Diana’s memory. For goodness sakes, even her ghost was trying to help, even deceased Diana is full of compassion, lol.
I was surprised by how kind the storyline was to Charles however, I guess it makes sense now that he is king. As such, I expect no controversies to come from the final 2nd set of episodes. This final season really is a love letter to the crown.
I have a commercial going off about every 90 seconds. a little excessive ?
Your screen grab are both photos of Elizabeth Debicki
I have seen that many fans of The Crown thought the four episodes very impactful and emotional.
It is interesting to find that this season so far has bad reviews. I quite enjoyed it, even became emotional at moments, yet I did become really suspicious about the narrative. But what are you going to do? It's drama, not a documentary.
E1 was ok. Will be catching up on the rest over the weekend. Can tell you I don’t like to hear that we’re gonna see ghosts…. That’s potentially a “Jump The Shark” moment. Would rather they stay focused on dramatic story telling that is consistent with actual events. Save the fantasy crap for its own genre.
Much too nice to the kooky authoritarian Charles.
I love it & it’s on repeat in my house, the Brits need to stop crying about a dramatized TV series. We all know some of it is true but not to the extent of this show. Tampon gate was real, unfortunately 🤣😩💀
Seems insane so many are so harshly criticizing The Crown for fully including the impact of Diana’s life & death. Clearly they are missing the irony that was shown so well in the series.
This season was such a fluff for the royal family
Thanks Paul.
My mom is originally from the UK and I was only seven when Princess Di passed away I remember when the queen came on for that televise statement my mom was shouting profanities at the TV, hoping it would reach the queen😂 she was really upset at how cold the royal family had come off in regards to her death. Diana was queen of all of our hearts
The Queen was also a Grandmother and she felt the most important thing to do was stay at Balmoral to look after William and Harry who had just lost their Mother.
It was ridiculous that the public were angry with her for that and put pressure on the Family to turn up in London to do a bloody
public 'walk about'
@@delwynjenkins3581 I agree if the public was that way that was insensitive of them because Balmoral was obviously the Royals true home. However, I do think we should remember the timing of around Dianas death. Diana was supported by the people because it seemed like she was getting bullied by the royal family and I think a lot of people still to this day believe that the Royals could even be behind Diana‘s death and I think that is why people wanted to see the royals give Diana the same treatment that they would any other Royale who would pass away; in hopes to close that conspiracy theory that the Royals could kill such a beautiful person. I imagine it was a tense time for the UK
@@Annejali
Fair point . I followed it in real time and knew that Charles & Diana were friends after the divorce and weren't pretending to like each other in public as they did earlier.
It was a year after their divorce and they were being great co parents and communicating well.
Apparently Charles took tea with Diana at Kensington Palace and the Queen valued Diana's life skills with William who was already being
trained as a future King.
People who blamed the Family could have thought abit more about the children ,William & Harry,
losing their Mother rather than forcing their Grandmother away from them.
That also led to them being taken
to London to walk around the floral tributes with massive crowds, people wailing and physically reaching out at them as they
walked passed.
How traumatic.
It wouldn't happen today.
It could just be my perspective as an outsider, but the focus on Dodi and his family felt unnecessarily stretched and slowed the story down a lot- it also felt like that they were villainized.
Season 6 was spent too much time on lesser things and jetted way too fast through important things. The 20+ year zip through time for the princes was so strange. Charles was written noticeably different in season 6- way too soft on him and trying to suddenly put him in a kind/compassionate light.
The pacing, tone, and storytelling of season 6 was extremely weak and disappointing in comparison to the previous seasons (especially 1 and 2).
Why is young Harry walking ahead of the others at the funeral? The real Harry walked in line with the other members of the family.
Mediocre PR job trying to rehabilitate the sordid reputations of King Tampon and Queen Side Piece. 👎
Charle was let down by Diana’s fame, good looks and attention she got from the world so he went to Camilla who was in his category. Charles was very embarrassed every time he got out with Diana he was ignored
The show may be shrewd but it is okay. I rather enjoy it. It's the type of show where I would watch it again. It's not bad.
Lol... They don't believe in Ghost
the problem is obviously that the whole Diana thing is so strong in living memory, that the producers feel forced to spend two seasons on it, which makes it less of historical drama like the first seasons, and more of a very well produced and very well acted soap opera. And now they are coming so close to our own time that any way they cut it from now on will be controversial to say the least. Follow prince williams autobiography? not a very nice picture. Spend time on the lesser royals? Prins Andrew will not make a very good figure
Wait you mean all this time I thought Diana lived?
May they RIP their driver was drunk period end of that story
Dodgy Dodi not portrayed sufficiently sleazy
SNL made fun of Diana painfully. I remember thinking even then it was not going to age well. But, in the parody business, no one gets off without some cringe.
I found it dismissive assuming princess declined the proposal.
Thank you Paul! I so wanted an native opinion.
Why would a “native” opinion have any more weight than a foreign one!? Are you ok? That to me makes absolutely no sense, and wildly comes across as nothing else but flat out ignorance, stupidity and bigotry. Being a native doesn’t make one an expert in Diana’s personal life, unless they actually lived with her or were a very intimate personal friend. Tf lol What an idiotic thing to blurp out and assume! Holy stupidity, dear God please help us and keep us safe from such idiocy!
2/5 weakest season ever. they offed princess Margret in one episode and made her goodbye so cold and weird. Margaret tells the queen that she’s dying and apparently falls asleep as the queens talking and so the queen gets up to leave the room and Margaret reaches for her and she just leaves the room and shut the lights off and is what indicates that she’s dead it was so bad😢 oh also, in episode eight the Ritz where we learned the queens scandalous moment when she danced with Americans 😂it was the creepiest scene 😅
She wasn't a SAINT either...
ok AND ...she deserved to die? What the hell does that mean?
They portrayed Mohammed al fayed like a gangster and made Dodi look like an idiot. And made Charles look much better than he was. Pathetic.
It is much too soon.
Why isnt she black? I'm so confused.
If they wanted to do the Diana story, then it had no place in the Crown. Once she left the very show the Crown violated her privacy
It just so fn disrespectful 👎🏻
I've lived in the UK since the 1970s and the whole idea that the country adored Diana is an absolute MYTH! Most people in the UK are and always have been largely indifferent to the Royals. They're to most of us what The Kardashians are to Americans. The whole Diana grieving was just mass hysteria whipped up by the media. The TV cameras only focused on the idiots doing their fake grief routine so it created a highly distorted view around the world. It's cringe worthy embarrassing to look back at. And she was also highly manipulative, she wanted to generate sympathy from the masses as the "cheated on" wife. Camilla was NOT a bit on the side, Charles knew her from years before. Just look at the thumbnails of this season with Diana looking like a lost little puppy dog. Just an act she put on for the cameras. Pathetic.
Tell us how you really feel!😆
No way Charles was that upset when she died. He was thrilled, except in that it would mean heat for Camilla for awhile. But he knew now that she was dead, he might just be able to marry Camilla so he was happy it happened. The Mr. Fayad stuff was pretty creepy. He has a lot of blame in what happened for demanding his son propose, if that's what happened and for calling paps to get the kissing pic, starting the whole firestorm. Everybody used her then when she outshone them, they vilified her til she was hounded literally to death. It's so sad.
What a revolting comment !
You clearly know nothing about Charles & Diana who were friends after their divorce and spent alot of time together parenting their Boys.
Charles would have tea with Diana at her home at Kensington Palace and Diana even said that she had moved on and could see how happy Camilla made Charles.
What kind of person thinks a
Man & Father would be thrilled that the Mother of his two darling boys had died 🤮
The Crown? Come on, mate. 😂
Well to be fair, he is British
So am I. It’s an awful show about an awful group of people.
It’s definitely not an awful show, seasons 1-5 were gripping and brilliantly written and acted. Season 6 P1 was a bit awkward though
@@Teeps1921 Yeah, I suppose it just depends on whether you care about the subject matter. Personally I don’t want to waste my free time staring at fictionalised caricatures of real life parasites.
@@jamieoneill3621 Then why comment on something you have no interest in?
It had me in tears - and I cannot criticise any of it. It’s a dramatisation of events we only know part of. I thought it was superb and I look forward to the next half of season 6.
After Six seasons, I’m shocked that critics waste their time STILL talking about how this is a dramatization. British media is the worst, they just won’t stop crying about it.
Get over it! It’s a fictional story based on real life events. It’s been portrayed well, regardless of whether or not it makes the real life figures uncomfortable.
I feel they have been very kind to Charles and Camilla. I feel the Queen was justified to feel Ill toward Diana after all she’s done to wreak havoc with the royals (I am a Diana fan, as even I can’t pretend she didn’t mess with them when she wanted to )
I think the accident was shown tastefully, and watching the reactions of her family was heartbreaking.
I wish they had shown that Diana had friends around her. She was NOT alone, many who loved her rallied around her and we don’t see much of that here beyond her therapist.. Not even her sisters? Sad for Di.
Yeah it was a Camila and Charlie show for sure
It's because British media is heavily controlled and influenced by the Monarch.
I personally really like the first 4 episodes of the 6th season. I thought that it was handled very well. Elizabeth Debicki was literally outstanding as Diana. I felt her every emotion. I also felt the anxiety in episode 3 when we all know what the outcome of that day was going to be. They depicted their final day in a very neutral way. A series of small decisions that ended up being fatal. That's why they are called accidents, people cannot prevent what they cannot predict. Diana had no idea that August 30, 1997 was going to be her last full day alive. I also like the fact that they showed the aftermath of Dodi's death as well. Three lives were lost in that accident. I just know that the final thoughts going through her mind were her boys.
Fame is a curse. She was a prisoner to it. I remember the morning her death was announced I was in Boston moving into my college dorm. I remember everything. For those looking for a more accurate depiction, watch “Diana: In Her Own Words.” It’s the best documentary on her because it’s her voice.
I remember I fell asleep with the TV on and I woke up at like 2 or 3 in the morning and heard Brian Williams say "Princess Dianah has died at the age of 37". I thought I was dreaming it and then realized it was real such a shock.
Elizabeth Debicki ❤❤
I know the series is getting really bad reviews so I'd love to hear whether you agree or not. Comment below and let me know and If you enjoyed this video then please subscribe to the channel ruclips.net/channel/UCq3hT5JPPKy87JGbDls_5BQ
I know the UK is giving it bad reviews, maybe most how they treated the Queen. It’s had good reviews here.
Also, it feels so recent, especially to millennials. I remember exactly what happened when she died. Where I was, etc. it was a massive worldwide event.
The Great's better but it's over
I was only a little kid when the actual events this season is based on took place so take my review with a grain of salt. Meaning that I don't have quite the same emotional attachment that other reviewers might have. I thought the first half of the season was good and tasteful overall. I'll save my criticisms until after the second part of the season is released because it could very well cover the things I felt we missed out on.
I Absolutely Agree, it was Nothing but Bull$hit, Lies Lies Lies and Nothing but Lies! Peter Morgan is just another royal (Charlie and CowMilla) Sycophant and it’s So So So Obvious if you’ve been watching Princess Diana’s Life and this is Nothing but aThank You to Charlie the Man Child for Placing a Meaninglessness Medal on His Chest, Peter Paid Charlie back for his Little Medal, Perter is a Weak Man as Charlie is, don’t be Fooled, Charlie is NOT the king, it’s CowMilla🐄 she’s Run Charlie and Always Has, if Any man would allow their spouse to throw their Child under The Bus, he did that!!! I can say this as I’ve read a number of Books and Countless Documentaries about Princess Diana’s life and Watched in Real Time, from the beginning!
The Pro Monarchists.
From my point of view, these 4 episodes were great. The fourth one brought a lot of memories to my mind, although I was a child by then, I remember the feeling of grief in the air. However, I'm not sure about something: was Dody and his father like that? So desperate for power? I mean, I used to think that there was real love between Diana and Dody, but watching this blew my mind (I know it's fiction, but it has many real events as well)..then the fact that even having lost his own son, the father continued on his attempts to approach to the Royals. What do u think?
there was no love between the couple. She was having fun and trying to make Khan jealous. he was doing what his fahter told him and trying to see his girlfriend on the sly.
I loved the conversations Diana had with everyone. I can tell from my personal experience of losing a loved one, you will see a sudden emptiness, you will hear their voice in the haunting silence and you will feel their presence in every corner of the house because they walked in those corners once.
It wasn't great so far. It's not THAT bad either.
The Ghost Dodi and Ghost Diana cracked me up - so weird and disrespectful. The scenes would have been way more powerful, in my opinion if they had just had Charles, the Queen and Mohamed Al Fayed asking those questions to an empty space because it would show how they would never know the answer from either Diana or Dodi.
They did a good job with showing how tiring and frightening the paparazzi would have been. I did find it really funny how frustrated Charles specifically was with Diana managing to overshadow him and Camilla simply by existing.
I think it's really dumb that they don't get into the Andrew stuff that much.
And good lord, they cast someone entirely too handsome to be Charles.
I'll finish the season but this season is a pale imitation to what the first season was.
I pretty much agree with all of that and will add that they sure did take liberties with portraying how the proposal (if there was one) went. Wow. It was honestly pretty cringy. The actors portraying both Charles and her sons are all just so wrong. I'm not asking for look alsikes (obviously) but the other actors at least get their mannerisms and character right enough that they are believable. I'm not even sure who those three guys are. I also dislike the actor for Prince Phillip, whose name escapes me at the moment. He's a frail, bitchy little guy when Prince Phillip, even in his very later years, was indeed a crotchety old grump but still very masculine and formidable. It's not a great move to cast a character actor like that (I can't unsee his GOT role) but at least Olivia Staunton was a great enough actress to mostly overcome Delores Umbridge. He was not.
Such a good show but I can’t help asking myself during the conversations that take place what was actually said in real life?
I doubt anything like what was portrayed in the conversations between the Princess and Dodi actually ever happened.
yeah I think they shouldve made it clearer its all fiction as no one really knows what happened including the proposal
@@heavyspoilers It was interesting to consider that there wasn't really a huge love affair there at all. Maybe Princess Diana was just enjoying fun summer with no serious romantic plans. I do think some viewers will thing that what we saw here in episodes 1-3 is fact, which is a pity.
@@AudreyMealiff maybe? that was all it was. Diana told friends that she was having a summer romance.
I thought the acting was very good. I like it and the perspective even if it is not true the perspective on Dodi seems correct and I do hope she did not accept his proposal as he is a weak man.
I feel like it focuses too much on Diana. I loved the other seasons because they focus a lot on the Queen and other long time royals. I know they need to build up other characters and she was a huge addition but still.
Very much agree, and the entire sequence with how she handled the "proposal" and all that went with it is entirely speculation, pure fluff, and takes away from the series as a whole. Gratuitous fairy tale material. A lovely daydream for her though, I hope she was indeed happy at the end when the media wasn't hunting her.
worst season….oh contraire! really, really good!
They weren’t ghosts.
It is just me or The Crown increasingly becomes super apologetic to the royal family? Completely misleading
I don’t think they needed to spend 3 full episodes on the buildup to Diana’s death. The Aftermath episode was done better in The Crown. The focus of the show should remain on Elizabeth and her relationships with others, in particular her immediate family and her PMs.
