First thing they told is not 'if you'll use the reserve procedure' but 'when', which would mean basejumping is not about if you die but when. Or am I wrong and do more people wear reserves?

A BASE canopy is packed in such a way, that there is not as much "unfolding" going on, when deployed. Anyway, the gear is usually not the reason for all the accidents. It's people that rushed to start BASE jumping without learning necessary skills in a much safer skydiving environment and people ignoring their fear and risking everything for RUclips clicks.

I don't agree with his statements around 05:40 of comparing driving a car to BASE jumping. I would not consider driving a car dangerous, the defintion of dangerous is able or likely to cause harm or injury.. In cars you can be killed just like you can die choking on a fish bone or even ODing from over the counter painkillers. Base jumping is SUPER dangerous there is a HIGH likelyhood you can die doing it. So I think he is in denial playing down the risk. Base jumpers don't have a death wish, they have a life wish, they love living and they love life, but they are willing to be dead forever for that moment of peace as you go off the exit, perhaps in that moment they feel alive forever. But the one who stay alive are the ones who accept their death and don't play down the risks.
People who smoke cigerettes know that the likelyhood that they get cancer is much higher than if they did not smoke. Many do not stop smoking because of it. My next door neighbor has been sufferung for years with canser, and has been in pain with smoker's leg that will probably be amputated soon. He still smokes! I would much rather fly into a wall than go through what he has gone through!
This is absurd. Driving is inherently dangerous. Try driving for a living instead of to and from work and reevaluate your claim. You are constantly one misstep away from slamming into an object at 45-55 mph inside of a foldable heap of metal that does very little to minimize harm or injury. Because you're "skilled" enough at it means nothing. "It couldn't be me because I'm so smart, good, considerate, etc." Nonsense, everyone on the road thinks the same and they still end up in an accident at some point. Over 40,000 annual fatalities from driving in the U.S. one of them could be you or me tomorrow. 1,500 annual fatalities from foreign body ingestion in the U.S. so that rogue fishbone is roughly 40 times less likely to kill you per year. Sugarcoating driving is simply dishonest. You are lying to yourself to escape reality.

YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER FREQUENCY OF EVENT not the raw numbers!!! I am not going to research this much but there are around 290 Million cars in the US lets assume half drive back and forth each day . That is a death rate of 0.00007% over 1 year. Not a probability but puts it into perspective Also consider I grossly underestimated the actually drives per day. Every breath you take, ever heart beat there is a risk of a blood clot, a heart attack, a massive stroke, every day we live is also a risk of every day we die. Probability is important, and easy to understand but most people never take time to even understand the basics. So Sorry : throwing yourself off a 1000 meter cliff with a parachute is bit more risky, than driving to the shop to buy a loaf of bread!!!! If you cant understand that, there is nothing more I can do for you.
