The lazy morons who sit on benefits row each year producing child after child so they don't have to work, or the illegal immigrants that flock to our shores by the droves each day that cost £5 MILLION+ per day or the billions we are pouring into the ukraine, or perhaps you want your money to pay for immigrants who break the law and we have to pay their legal fees for them, and then we are told we cannot deport them because it contravenes their human rights! I know were I'd rather my money went! Paying for a monachy that does a lot of good for this country ,who by just a visit can command thousands of pounds for charity's, who by just wearing a piece of clothing can bolster a business,the duchess of cambridge has helped many a high street shop by choosing their products, can you say the same for any of the above? What would you rather have a joe biden like state or what we have, the royal family are more stable than a president and do far more for this country globally,

Baker is talking nonsense. 1) The 'taxpayer' does not pay ANYTHING. The Crown Estate the royal property is managed by the Government generates a huge fortune a fraction of which is then allocated to the COSTS of the Monarchy eg Palaces and staff and running costs along with the costs of the Royal Family's official duties, it is these from which Andrew, Harry and Megan have now been excluded. There is NO income paid to the Queen.
2) The Queen and Charles do pay tax on their assets and personal income - the Duchy of Lancaster and of Cornwall - this is not part of the Crown Estate.
3) Inheritance tax - you people are surely aware of the origins of taxation and what a Monarchy is? The King taxed his subjects for the shortfall in national expenditure ABOVE his own income. That required Parliament's approval. The Crown Estate - see above- is the King's income and that pays for the monarchy.
What about all the other land and homes owned by this family. Not state owned but privately. Look at all the complaints coming from Cornwall and the blood sucking duchy of Cornwall. I think after the Queen it's time to stop.

As a tax payer i don't mind supporting our queen and her family look at the mount of tax payers money we waste on putting the dinghy people in hotel's so our royals are value for money
We're paying them to undermine our democracy. That might be value for money for our establishment, it certainly isn't value for money for the rest of us.

That would not change with no monarchy. The Queen is rarely at Buckingham palace. The Pope is rarely at the Vatican.
Even if that were true (and it isn't), that by no means compensates for the massive democratic and social cost of the monarchy.
