"How much are you willing to pay for a PR?" So true in so many more ways than just spending money
The progression of sweat in this vid lol
i didnt realize until the end, thought that was the design at first but it just kept evolving
linear progression
I use a 2" piece of PVC pipe over the bar collar. Then the band goes on the peg, over the bar, then back to the peg. The piece of PVC does two things. It protects the bands, and it rotates so the tension is even on both sides. The weights then go in the outside of the PVC.
Alphadestiny made me use bands
Brought me to this channel as well
"Always stretch before you wrap"
"... these should be called the impossible bands, because there is absolutely nothing you can do with them." Hilarious and very true. Great statement.
Matthew Bartos reverse band squat or bench... .
@@comozo924 they also great for assisted pullups for heavier people
@@wklpiano Yeah, suspension training, or "zero-gravity" hangs and those types of things, huh? Are you of the heavier variety??
I've been wanting to invest in a "Mega-Hyper-Godzilla 10XL" band for some months now (for the aforementioned reason). Probably great for beginners wanting to break into the Calisthenic's world?
i made some of the best strength gains of my life when i added "lighter" bands to every exercise I could just to overload the portions of the movement where i was strongest. I actually learned about that from Dr. Squat Hatfield years ago and it works great. I mostly just used the black bands in addition to my normal weight in plates.
This man is so full of energy, and helpful information so glad I found this youtuber Thank you jujimufu
Are you going to do the Alan Thrall's 800lb tire flip challenge?
Omg! I saw your vid on instagram, leave a comment and you really made it ! You're the best Brian.
Bands (and chains, really) are killer. Adds so much to the workout.
Antoine Barquet chains make it heavier at the top as well. only difference from bands is that it doesn't create a powerful stretch reflex at the bottom
I like to take my hat and turn it around, it’s like a switch goes on.... great video , thanks for sharing. Good timing for me. Just got a rogue yoke last week and have been messing around using bands on it for lifts.
One of the things that I like to do with my bands is dangle dumbbells from either a partially loaded or totally unloaded barbell and then do bench near the end of my workout. In my experience, this really forces your shoulder to stay tight and enhances stability.
im moving right now and because of you i found a gym (its not really close but worth it) where they have bands on every rack and calibratet plates on each rack with eliko bars just so i can do more of your stuff like this banded work
I love bands 🤟🏼🎸 😁thanks I never thought of using it for over head press
You guys rock.
The 103,000th sub here. Exactly (have the picture to show it roll over from 102,999) AWESOME ADVICE and MOTIVATION you provide!! #NEVERSATE
I use infinity bands in the power rack on the peg for bench presses.
Doing curls with this is amazing. The peak weight at the top and controlled negatives build muscle fast.
Awesome, I needed this.
found you through juji, love your channel bro keep it up
Yo! love seeing the spray foam in the background! I sell spray foam for a living. Pro tip: make sure you paint that foam to preserve the life span! The only thing that breaks down foam is UV light. after some years of UV exposure, eventually it will break down, become brittle and start to disintegrate which will make a mess and make it useless.
On topic: I just used a bench band for the first time yesterday. Came here to learn more so thanks for the info! I def gotta get one of these bands you recommend this week!
I have a few bands at home. Using them off a pull up bar at home as I broke my heal and can go to the gym. Bands are great.
I nearly got folded in half with banded squats, an yet I still agree with using bands. Good vid
Busting out the bands at the gym today. I'm even wearing the same shirt!
I don't know if I can activate the color-changing feature since my gym has A/C
You can also use the bands to warm up strech and add it to your accesories exercises
Love your stuff. Wish you had actually shown the exercises in action with the bands. All in this video would be nice. Anyway, keep the gray stuff coming, you rock.
Great video like usual. Have you seen much of a difference with bands vs chains for your accommodating resistance setups? I.e. do you get a similar benefit and can they programmed the same?
love benching with bands!
Can you do a vids on sandbags I recently got one and am not sure on how to include it in regular work
i am currently doing your free conjugate method and it is AMAZING. definitely buying one before the end of the year!! also a question..how do you feel about paused banded reps (in the main movements) with the pause done in your sticking point???
I saw many of your vids on giant sets and decided to try them out but in a full body style what do you think of this routine
main chest exercise
secondary chest exercise
isolation (tricep)
rest 60-90 secs
main back exercise
secondary back exercise
isolation(bicep)
rest 60-90 secs
main legs exercise
secondary leg exercise
explosiveness (jump squats etc)
main shoulder exercise
secondary shoulder exercise
isolation(rear delt)
it would be done 3 days out of the week alternating which group gets hit first and exercises obviously my goal with this is to gain strength and size all criticism is welcome thanks in advance Brian.
Could you in the future do a video on your ideas on tendon strength. I like using bands to supplement my lifting for tendon strength development.
My question is I lift three times a week on Mon, Wed, Fri and bands on Tues and Sat - is this enough time under tension to improve my tendon strength?
Thank you
Hey Brian,
Just a quick question. Do you have a particular method for altering the band tension based on the athlete's strength level? For example even though I'm much weaker than you should I use a similar amount of band tension? If not do you have a method to work out the appropriate amount or just wing it?
Chains work better for me and my gym (simply because of my gym setup) and have seen a massive improvement in my lifts. It seems like you can do more with the bands. Very cool video!
Good explanation.
shared. great info.
Hey Brian what bands should I buy I'm 17 just getting into weight lifting seriously and my deadlift pr is 390.
Would you say, that shoulder external rotations using bands are a "must" for strengthtening and warming up shoulder rotator cuff?
You and juji have the best channelz around be great to see you, thrall, juji, and omar colab
so last week you made me do single-leg deadlifts and walking lunges, and now you're going to make me pull out the Bands?! I can feel the pain coming already.
How about an update on the throwing up/digestive issues? Everything ok? Was that already covered
Banded Front Squats are brutal!
Just did them today after Bulgarian Split Squats- super brutal
If you're doing more of"traditional" powerlifting style programming that doesn't have dynamic effort days so to speak, where these are easier to plug in, where would you tend to employ band work? Would you just treat it as a variation and utilize it through a whole cycle ? I'm thinking add "heavy" band work the last few weeks of a strength block and maybe light band work during a hypertrophy block?
No man, it is what the majority of the program is based off of. I wouldn't;t just trow bands or chain in randomly because of the CNS and recovery demands.
Should you use some bands when you train for olimpic weightlifting? E.g. Banded deadlifts oder ohp??
Thanks bro 💪
Bands vs chains? I always preferred chains because chains don't wear out over time and I can tell you how much they weigh (down to each link). Am I missing something by not using bands?
Bands are awesome, thanks for this Brian. Guys, just be careful using bands and a deadlift jack. If it whips back, you're gonna have a bad time. Also, bands with a swiss bar/log are amazing to build lockout power. Squats with bands? Monolift.
How long can you use your bands? I just destroyed mine during Overheadpress a week ago.
Serious question Brian: your arms look about the same relative length as mine, how do you keep from crushing your balls with the bar at the top of your deadlift??
Man you sweated out about five pounds just standing there talking hahaha nice video Brian 👍🏽
Might be a silly question, but does all these benefits apply to reverse band as well? Very new to the band thing haha
Hey brother, you ever use bands on your seated good mornings? With the bands way in front of you?
The golden rule with bands is to always show them on camera if you're using them :)
Great video
sponsored by westside barbell
I wish.
I lift at a YMCA so I have no bands or ways to use them, but at least I know that Brian and I sweat equally so I think that's a good sign.
QQyoko look at the equipment and devise ways to use them. For example the deadlift. Drape a band lengthwise on the bar. Then step on the band to hold it in place. Make sure to place the arches of your feet directly on the band.
Damn, I'm a dumbass. I've been struggling to figure out a way to use them in a stupid gym...and the answer was there the whole time.
QQyoko yuh
Hi Bryan I have a question. I am 17 years old and I have been working out in a gym for about 1 year. I really enjoy it and find it REALLY fun to do. I want to do this for as long as I can, just like you and juji. But beeing over excited I have picked up exercises like the deadlift that are not optimal for my age due to my bones still developing, according a great physical therapist I know. Doing dealifts and heavy squats, I have had minor injuries on my back and knees and adductors, or inner quads I don't think I spelled that right 😂. I have really bad knees like my father has. What do you think I should do about my training?? Focus on bodybuilding principles until I am older and then do powerlifting stuff, which I love, or just keep doing athletic stuff or calisthenics even until I grow stronger. I could really use your advice!! Thanks a lot and keep up with the great content!
Not Bryan but I doubt it’s an issue with the exercises? I’m 16 and doing deadlifts and squats is fine for me. It sounds like you had joint issues from either overloading the weight or using improper form, I’d reevaluate both of those.
Just so I am understanding correctly is the pounds added at the top per band? Or for both sides?
That is for the total band tension but it is going to change with set-up, height, newness of the bands etc.
Can you use bands every work sessions or will it burn you out?
How’s your shoulder Brian?
Needs more jujimufu.
Lol, so much band tension and sweat :D
If you're just a novice lifter (I'm 42 million years old, 6'4" tall and 230lbs body weight and deadlifting 320lbs 8 working sets of 3 as of yesterday).. I guess what I'm asking is should a novice lifter, such as your truly, use bands every now and then or is this more for an intermediate lifter? If a novice lifter were to do this how would you assess what weight would you use if you were 42 million years old like me? Would you just recommend starting with my working weight and adding a small (light) band or reducing below my working weight and using a thicker band or.. ?? The only thing I've really used bands for are for things like monster walks.
If I wasn’t awake, the intro took care of it
Hi Pal, any suggestions for bands' length and width for using with barbell or dumbbells ? 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
You and I are looking for same info. Just saw your comment on another video. Did you ever get an answer? I think I'm going to dive in and buy 41" medium to start 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Hey, so I aggravated an old injury in my shoulder doing kettle bell clean and press, now my range of motion and strength output is suffering. This happened yesterday. Wondering if anyone knows a way to rehab while training still??
Finn Miller-New find a angle where you can press without pain. Try to master barbell overhead press. A lot of back work and external rotation work.
Whats the benefit of reverse band will it not only make the lift easier=less strength/gains?
Because you were working a certain range of motion on the lift. So you can throw more intensity to the top part of the lift with reverse bands while the bottom of the lift is assisted. You can also help for situations where you are treating around an injury or are lowering the range of motion for several nervous system purposes
I need bands. The DE portion of dark horse is like a cooldown without them.
Seriously People...... check your Bands !!!!!!
I had a piffly little Physio one snap & whack my face once and I had a perfect line bisecting my face for over a month (in fact, whenever I get sunburnt you can still vaguely see it over ten years later 😬).
Wicked thanks for this! Also stoked to hear about more programs. I made great strength gains off of your progressive overload
What about chains vs bands
1st 🙌
>YMCA
>Not Harlem Shake
Come on people...
Thirdtrys Acharm I thought you meant
“The Funky Chicken”
Very cool thank you Kanye....I mean Brain
Recently fell in love with powerlifting and decided to take it seriously last week when I did a powerlifting competition at my base and totaled 1250@195 (I know noob weight). now I’m hungry for 1500 and this video just inspired me to purchase my first set of bands to get to that goal. Thanks for this video! Now I won’t look ridiculous while trying to figure out how to set them up.
I am a bands virgin.
239th 💪💥🦅
Ever tried doing pushups with the black bands going hand to hand across your back?
Menaceblue3 kills my wrists
Salman Hussain
It's still a good way to get some kind upper body press work out with out weights
Yes. Keep in mind a tensioned Rogue black across your back will be over 100 pounds of tension at lockout and does hurt the hands/wrist. If you want to do serious banded pushups, get a Rogue harness/vest, loop the bands through a carabiner and use a power rack.
I have to consider changing gym
Yes?
But the scale will make it higher so there will be more tension than when not on the scale
Jack Chamberlain hmmm this is true
Justin Parker but we get his point though haha
James Stamp he could have but no one would have thought of it until your comment but im sure they will next time.
Ayyyy that N.B.flag on the wall tho 💪
How do I know what strength of bands I get
It'll tell you at the "info" when you buy them.
Get light ones first, they're very deceptive. Don't judge a band exercise by the free weight amount you can lift. Won't go well, lol.
Will the poor man way of using bands on the deadlift work? The way you wrap a single band over the bar and stand on the band then pull.
It does work
Even works with dumbbells, red mini band ends around the wrist with dbells in hands, standing on band and deadlift/shrug/press
Great vid! Pro tip: chains don't snap. (Also, not a pro. Still true though)
Brian, I'm SURE you've heard this all your life, but... sloooow down. For normal non- monsters like me, we have a hard time keeping up with you, lol.
I'm planning on joining the AF, but my struggle is to make weight. I'm 30, 5' 9" and weigh 227 as of this morning. I naturally carry a lot of muscle (and fat) so my biggest hurdle is making weight (186 lbs... blegh). I can run a 13:15 mile and a half pretty easy, do 40 pushups in a minute and sit ups are cake. I like lifting, I don't mind cardio, but I'm having a hard time dropping lbs. Any recommendations?
I love you brian
This would be good for pullups the bottom to 3/4 up is a piece of piss. I mean the bands pulling the same way as gravity not the stupid way.
Professor brian
The only time iv seen an "impossible band" used was by a 350+lb person doing assisted pullups. Powerlifting wise they are just a joke. Great Vid.
Rubber band man, like a one man band...
Throwing some old school T.I out there. Couldn't help it lol
funky chicken
This didn't help me start a band :/
What about a band lifting vid collab with Nether?
Did you record this in the Philippines? I sweat like that while there. 🤪
"people do all kinds of ridiculous things with bands"...and you didn't jump cut to that clip of Juji benching on a bed of bands.
Monster mini??? You mean shorty monster?
No
LAST!!!!
Hart Campbell
lair..... LoL!!!
Save the theatrics for your younger audience - us older dudes just want to get on with it. Nice video anyway...
This dude has results ( build) but what pre workout supplements is he taking?
