So GLAD I grew up with THE ABSOLUTE BEST MUSIC EVER
Me too!!
Me three!!!❤
...we had the best music, didn't we ?.........................
Me four ❤️
RIP Richard Tandy of ELO, whose keyboard playing gave ELO their progressive rock edge.
Jeff was absolutely amazing on this album. 1970 was just the beginning of a decade of great music 🎵
It should be known by ELO fans since 1972 that ELO started out as both being led by Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood as a progressive offshoot of The Move, but Roy quit after the first album to go solo, so it's been Jeff's baby since then. As of 2024, Jeff is announcing his retirement from touring as ELO prepares it's 2024-25 tour as it's last tour. Good luck, and Godspeed, Jeff.
I was born in 1972 and I can't wait to see the show in Cincinnati ohio
Fan of ELO since early 2000's. Glad to see the next generation have a taste in great music!
Music in the 70s will never be re-done..Best Music ever..
@@kennethmeyers3510 In case you didn't know it, R.I.P. to Richard Tandy, who was ELO's longtime keyboardist. He passed on May 2024 at the age of 74.
Seeing them tonight!
She cries to the southern wind, greatest opening line ever
As a kid in the '70's I didn't really care for ELO. Now having rediscovered them at 58 years old I'm like "what the hell was I thinking". Amazingly beautiful. 👍👍👍
I get it Doug, at 74, I enjoy music I didn't care for a few decades or so ago. Our musical tastes can change as well as our preferences in food . . . and women :-)
P.S. Also discover The Traveling Wilburys if you haven't already, Jeff is there too.
them just good D
@@davidfsikkema1416 Wikburys were the best so much fun
Same here. They're awesome.
Been here since KINGPIN!! 2024!!
One of the greatest scenes ever,2 legends,
Saw ELO in '77 and was one of the best concerts ever. The laser light show was incredible but, nothing compared to the performance of the band. What a great group of musicians led by one of the best talents in music, Jeff Lynne. I was blessed to have had that opportunity and treasure the memory.
I saw ELO on May 16, 1974 at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City, UT. I remain a fan 50 years later!
ginger, I was 10 years old then but I still love listening to these guys, from a time when real music was REAL MUSIC!
SUPER
I was there attending U of Utah!!! Great time to be in SLC ••••• Alta & Little Cottonwood Canyon
The Rubber Man vs. Big Ern McCracken. Legends.
Kingpin baby 1996😎👍
To thing we all almost got Munson'd out here in youtube land...and big earn is still above the law.
What's why I'm here brother
I was lucky enough to see Kingpin/American Beauty double feature. Song has always been associated with Big Ern since.
I'm in room 1103
At 80 years old, loved them THEN love them NOW! Their sound is unbeatable!
I''m almost 70 and I did, too!
80? Woŵ still loving ELO. You rock! It's gonna be a showdown
51 and I'm here !
I LOVE IT!! GOALS for sure- you made me smile so big! 54 and a big fan since I was a kid. My mom at 81 laughs at how much I still love the 70’s music. ❤

I had forgotten how great ELO actually was. Holy Shit
Have had the pleasure of seeing ELO 3 times. 1978, 1981 and 2016 with my son. The most underrated band of all time. Jeff Lynne....a genius!!!!!
So true
Kevin Murray
' Underrated" by whom??!
They were massively successful! 😄
@@petermills542 ...Yes they were, but Jeff Lynne and the former members of ELO never received the recognition that they deserved. When The Beastie Boys and other numerous bands were inducted into the Hall of Fame before ELO then there is something wrong.
Lennon once said ELO picked up where the Beatles left off.. they're just too good to NOT be underrated..
❤❤❤
John Lernnon said in a 1974 interview on WNEW-FM that this song could have been #1 but record label United Artists did not promote it properly
A band that definitely does not get the credit they deserve!
They seem to be underrated.
Jo on ööp@@anthonya.antonio
I say this often. Can't wait to see Jeff in AZ this October!!!
She cried to the southern wind
About a love that was sure to end
Every dream in her heart was gone
Headin for a showdown
Bad dreamer, what's your name
Looks like were ridin on the same train
Looks as through therell be more pain
There's gonna be a showdown
And it's rainin all over the world
Tonight, the longest night
She came to me like a friend
She blew in on a southern wind
Now my heart is turned to stone again
There's gonna be a showdown

Thanks! Awesome lyrics!!!😉
One of the greatest groups of all time!
AWESOME.
Yes!
Bad bunny is best
Such a wonderful group. I love the orchestra!!!
Some members of the Beatles are quoted as saying if the band had continued into the 70s ELO is what they would have sounded like.
RIP Richard Tandy. Thank you for the music. 🇫🇮
RIP Richard Tandy 1st May 2024.. and no more ELO music with him. Wonderful talent. 😢
Thank you to Richard fo keeping ELO Alive.. God-Bless
Don't you realise the things we did, we did Were all for real, not a dream?
I just can't believe They've all faded out of view...
what a loss Tremendous visual and audio spectacle - Jeff Lynne a musical genius up there with McCartney
This band is so talented. Very underrated. Incredible use of many different instruments.
Sorry, I have to correct you: Not underrated at all. They had one chartbraker after another worldwide, especially in the U.S and of course Great Britain.
65 years old @ my favourite band ELO
69 and still a fam
Now I know why George wanted Jeff to help him produce Cloud 9 . ELO is brilliant!!!
The year is 2022 of August 26th. My baby girl is 11 years old and she loves this band. I’m 36 by the way.
Been a fan of ELO since I was a kid, great band and Jeff has the kind of voice you just cant miss.
Me too! ELO is the best!
Buscemi n Goodman
JUST SUPERB, no band in the last 25 years has come close.
Not only the voice, you can 'hear' the style in the songs he produced for others
Me too! Jeff Lynne once said that ELO hoped to take over where the Beatles left off. Just like the Fab Four, they made instant classic hits! Jeff had a wonderful friendship with George Harrison, too. Loved the Traveling Wilburys!
John Lennon said he really liked this track when it came out.
High praise indeed from the 1 and only
JOHN WINSTON LENNON ✌️
ELO holds the record for having the most Billboard Hot 100 top 40 hits (20) without a number one single of any band in US chart history.
And yet we couldn't get away from them on the radio. They were all over the airwaves!
Jeff Lynne is a Musical Genius that's why . In my humble opinion. 😊
Yeah most folks don't even know who they are, but everone knows the tunes
Underrated band,Jeff Lynn is a genius
Liked but not loved... Criminal
When there was MUSIC in the air!!!! Where has it gone? IT'S GONE.
That's because rap and hip hop have polluted the airwaves
It isn't (all) gone. You just have to search harder for it.
Probably the best era of rock/pop music ever!
…and Disco time also…”Last Train To London”
Not probably....WAS !!!!
Of couse

I’ve been a big ELO fan since the 70’s.
The song, the vocals, the instrumentation, the delivery. It dont get no better than this. ELO rocks!
It certainly don’t
The only ones that could even come close was the little river band
Yeah, I saw the Little River b
Yeah, I saw the Little River Band twice in the late 70s at the civic Center in Springfield, Mass. They were great.
Beatles school.
I’m 58. I still love ELO
This song is featured towards the end of the film Kingpin (1996). Woody Harrelson, Bill Murray, and ELO. Absolute classic.
Where I first heard it. Some great songs in Kingpin.
That's why I'm here. LoL
The pizza lol 😂
Different version too. What a bad ass song you guys!!!
Yup. Kingpin brought me here in 2022🤣🤷♂️
So very cool, and John Lennon's favorite ELO song. He described it as "a beautiful combination of ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine’ by Marvin Gaye and ‘[Lightnin’] Strikes’… Lou Christie, and it’s a beautiful job with a little ‘Walrus’ underneath.”
If it's good enough for John Lennon, then it must be good!
@@darrenshepherd2843 you got that right. He was pretty sparse with musical compliments for contemporary or post 1960s bands. For him to praise a band/artist was huge. I know he also loved Elton, Bowie, and get this…Little River Band!
just 'imagine' if j lennon had been around to be in on the traveling wilbury's
"Gods Chief Musician" written all the way through Jeff - like Brighton Rock.
@@darkstar861 yes, we missed so much after his dead he would do

Still gives me goosebumps! Imagine if ELO came on the scene today. The gift that keeps on giving.
They are on tour now!!😊
ELO Real musicians!!! God help us with the music of now.😢
I love how a song that you heard many , many years behind can make such strong emotional effects on your soul and mind. I was 19 years old just fresh out of school. Lost in my youth and mad in love with my first. Life has been hard but good. I would not trade or say I regret a thing. Learned from it all.
That's what I'm talking about !
Jeff Lynn is in a class of his own
A very relevant song for the days we live in 12/2023
Takes me back to when I was young love ELO
I WANT TO GO BACK, NOW.
Дважды в одну реку не войдёшь, к сожалению... 😢
2:08 Me. Love this. My phone picked it up immediately. Aren't gadgets wonderful? 😂😅 I'm 72 and that was my time back when everything was good in the UK.
I’m 28, I feel like I was raised in the wrong era of music. Been listening since middle school lol
The only real music .
ELO has a sound all their own, and I love it.

JUST AWESOME SUZIE, WISH I HAD SEEN THEM LIVE.
You always get your moneys worth with ELO songs.

Привет Вадим! Живу в Екатеринбурге (Россия). Поддерживаю тебя! Это изумительный симфо-рок! Но есть не менее качественная музыка. Например, такая же симфо-рок группа Chicago. А также The Alan Parsons Project очень хорóш. Ну и Bee Gees конечно!

John Lennon loved this song. He said it was a synthesis of Beatles harmonies, Marvin Gaye's 'Heard it through the Grapevine, and Lou Christie's 'Lightning Strikes.'
man this song late at night before bed just sets a good mood.
Thank you been listening since i was a kid and this song just takes me back
This song charted twice, and I was fortunate to find the 1976 pressing. This is another one of their forgotten classics. 😊

Sorry, I don't watch TV! But I love music! It is the best thing for your soul!
El gran JEFF LYNNE 👏👏👏👏👏
Reacher brought me here season 2 episode 1 ❤
Well, the movie 'Kingpin' first brought me here. I returned because of 'Reacher'. Now I'm a bit conflicted, when I hear this song. I'm not sure if I'm tempted to go bowling or to go out and beat the crap out of some drug dealers; in in order to steal their cash and weapons. 😆😆
КЛАСС! ГРУППА ВЕЛИКАЯ! 🎉😊
I grew up In the 90’s, but I still like older music from before my time. Radio Is so trash now, sad times.
How many are here since seeing JOYRIDE (1977) , soundtrack by ELO , with melanie griffith !! ❤❤ Learn something!!!
Sometimes you don’t realize how great some things are until you try to recreate it
50 years after this song was released, it still resonates. New contemporary music, I can't remember it a day later.
Great time I was a senior in high school
Love ELO ❤

Simply the most fantastic band. Everything about ELO says class act’s and timeless music that will leave forever. Thank you Jeff Lynne for everything you’ve done for Rock music 👍🏻👊🏻
TOTALLY UNIQUE, NEVER BE ANOTHER.
Class act, well said.
Amazing re-recording - Jeff's voice has never aged!
Every time I hear this song, I immediately think of the epic bowling battle between Roy Munson and Big Ern McCracken.

One of the greatest rock bands first time hearing this version must be an alternate take its still a masterpiece from and underrated rock band
