As a teacher I support this. Some students do not study at all. No matter I perform science experiments and do fun learning in the classroom and put so much efforts but there are some students who don't bother to study. They know they'll be passed automatically. Passing marks in only 33 and they can't achieve that marks also. Then when these students enter 10th grade parents will complaint that the teachers are not good.

What upgraded systems has the Govt put in place to evaluate teachers knowledge + method of teaching & engaging students?
What systems has the Govt put in place to ensure teachers attend trainings periodically to update their knowledge & methodologies and then they get assessed on the same ?
What has the Govt done to ensure there is a strict & foolproof system in place for promotion & salary increase of teachers & even Profs thats based on meeting performance criteria?
Decades old loosely designed systems are in place for evaluating & training teachers. Anything & everything gets implemented on students.

India needs to increase the number of people with at least school level education + ensure no drop outs. The purpose of Education is not just top scoring students.
Detention will only increase school drop outs esp from rural & low income groups . It will once again increase the number of student suicides , one of the key reasons why *no* detention was introduced

No fail policy was a failure. It only promoted non - seriousness among teachers as well as students.

Total Strength of Class room must be restricted by law or something must be done otherwise quality education always fails.

No student should be detained up to twelth class. If a student is detained, it may lead to a drop out. To keep a student psychologically fit,non-detention system up to twelth class is essential. If there is Intermediate education, non-detention systems may be up to tenth class. But, the progress record from class one should be maintained and should be reviewed every year. Additional coaching should be given for the needed.

we need more labourers...people in kerala know the consequences of all pass system... students in state board are simply getting promoted every time and students are passing 10, 12 and even somehow take degree from state universities...once someone has a plus two, he won't try for a daily wage labour ..he will somehow go abroad ...thus migrant workers from northern states are flooding kerala to fill the gap😢😮

As a Class 8 student, I completely agree with this point! This should happen because I am a student of OAV (Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya) which is a CBSE medium school in odisha. I have seen that students are good in academics, but still more than half of them don't know the basics. Despite coaching and the facilities available at school, many students are not able to score well! This is because students take their studies very casually and don't take them seriously. So, this rule should definitely be implemented! It will help improve the students' studies, and they will work hard and move forward. If such a strict policy isn't introduced, students will become lazy. I hope this policy is implemented in every school as soon as possible.

The passing minimum is just 35%. No system torments children to score 80/90% for promotion. exams are one way of exposing students to face the competitive world. Some amount of self discipline and personal accountability will be experienced by students.

When the education quality gets better and there are good knowledgeable teachers and the it is more practical oriented, no brahmins will ask for this detention in the classes. We know what marks those people will get. If at all they are super genius, how many ground breaking inventions they have given to the mankind? Tell us one useful patent they have even after swindling our people's money in IITs.

As if Kota episodes are not enough. Evaluation and assessment are important but passing failing will bring back rote learning

There is not much relationship between marks obtained in schools and colleges and the success in life. Success in life depends more on the SKILL aspect

There should be no detention or the student should under go the same std once more. Taking exam in two months should not be done. Private schools will fail student and take money after two months and pass them out.
