Again, India is not ready to develop. People are opposing this scrapping. Have you ever encountered with an eighth class student not able to solve a division, not able to read a line of English without stuttering? I have, and trust me, you feel pity for them. This no detention policy ruined the value of education. It should have been scrapped a long time ago
BS.. This idea of "no detention" policy was introduced during MMS time only and in name of modernization claiming that US has this policy, implying it was "development". + Everyone knows who re the people opposing it.
I used to tutor students of class 5 to class 12th during my bachelors degree, guess what; even though govt had reduced syllabus, had difficulty in covering the topics; few of them used to say "the school won't fail them, even they don't study" and the thing I observed in class 10 student is that they can't even solve the basic mathematical problems of substraction and division; I am just 23M but still when I check the syllabus that we had and the syllabus they are having now, I fail to recognize why they are struggling to study. If we look the students now a days, they are carrying lots and lots of books i their bag each and nd everyday, but don't have aptitude in their head. They can only solve the problems, that they have practiced in school, also only if all the numbers matches the same.
Drop out rates will surely increase in the initial years but trust me this will only benefit the students, it will also work in increasing the accountability of government teachers.
Yes it will increase their awareness about the tough education policy and they would eventually put more efforts to pass the exams. These days half of the students literally take things for granted because anyhow they will be pushed and promoted to the next class even after failing....let this bring good change among the students and the management.

1 teacher for 60 students is definitely a huge disaster. But a bigger disaster is 1 teacher for 30 students or less and still churning out failures. Why? Because teachers have many months of salary due to them and so they are not interested/invested to teach or less interested to stay. Teachers leave schools at an alarming rate per year, that students of 10th grade who have to show up for their public exam next year, remain confused as to the syllabus covered and where they have to pick up from. And this issue starts from 7th grade!! I am talking about CBSE schools in UAE. The quality of education is not just in the students hands or the schemes by the government. It is with everyone. And in the group of everyone, al lot is in the hands of the adults starting from the governments, boards, teachers and parents.
I give tuition classes and yes this policy is needed. Today's 9th class student don't even understand a basic calculation, let alone solving the questions on their own (despite having only 60% of the previous syllabus as many chapters have been removed from the books ). Very good. Everyone learns at a different rate. If they'll fail then they will have one more year to grasp those concepts and build a stronger foundation. If the base is weak, they will not be able to cope with higher studies. We only have to change one thing: the mentality of the society towards those being detained, they are not weak, just need some more time to learn.

Yes, they should be failed. Also, students who study in English language schools (even vernacular schools which have English as a subject) and yet repeatedly write things like "he have the keys", "they didn't done anything", "suuuper speech", "they knows the answers" should have marks deducted even if their answers are correct in terms of getting the right answer in maths etc. Without that, you have an epidemic of poor writing everywhere from court notices, customer care chats and social media to hospital and bank websites in the workforce in India. The next generations should have much more fluency in English writing than the previous ones. Part of the issue is also hiring the right people for the job of English teaching as opposed to simply hiring people because they have a degree.

India ranked 72 of 73 in PISA in 2009 and shamefully vowed not to take part in this world’s affair, The need of the day is education system overhaul like singapore or norwegian countries, Yes we have wonderful higher education schools but doesn’t mean we turn blind eye to primary education
This policy is the today’s requirement, I am a teacher and I am facing students of class IX having no basic knowledge of anything(leave Maths and Hindi reading) they don’t know how to write their name correctly in Hindi or in English. The problem, specially in the government schools is that on an average only 20% student arrive in the school and teachers make attendance of 90% student, the attendance is too low due to no detention in any class and this is a vicious cycle. The students who are appearing daily in the school discourage from this behaviour and stop coming to the school too. If you look the data of government school, in Xth board exam almost 20% students are failing, but not a single student is getting failed in class X pre-board. Think how it is possible and who is responsible for this. I can’t even talk about the situation of class XI & XII.

As a student, I welcome this change. It was a pain to grow up with certain people in class who would pass each class even when they did not study anything. They will always disturb the class not know how to do even basic things. This will frustrate all the teachers too and we constantly had a very negative environment because of that. The question itself is wrong. We should ask why our education system is not able to educate students? Tests were supposed to check if one learned something or not. If one student fails then that means there is a problem in the student. But if we are covering up the failure of the whole class then the system itself is at fault. Education should not be privatised but it is. As one smart guy said there are two things missing in our education system. Education and system.
In 2001, I have been detained in class 5th my reason was my grandmother was expired during 2nd term 😢and there was no retest conducted during that time. Wished no detention policy had applied then . The mental trauma I felt during my school days was horrible😞 It impact your confidence life long .
I was a teacher in a private school and education system has really gone down the hill in a past few years. On my first day i was shocked to see a 7th standard students not being able to copy correct spellings and lines from the books and teachers literally being pressurized to pass the students who scores zero and doesn't take an initiative for improvement. The worst part comes when the parents are called for the meeting and they literally say, "you can't detain our child as there is no detention policy", as a result teachers has to promote them no matter what. Also there is no respect for teachers anymore and good teachers are really really hard to find nowadays who can provide good education. Because of this policy many old teachers have left the job or they have pushed themselves backs and let the system, school and students do whatever they want, as in the end you have to promote them either by adding extra marks or by giving some assignments and projects which even those are horrors to look at by seeing today's generations standards. The system really needs to change if we want good education for our coming generation and blindly following West will never help in any case. We Indians have a habit of following the West blindly and so did the education system and look where it landed our younger generation. Edit : The problem also lies with the school as they don't hire good teachers anymore. In our time we used to have such a good teachers without any B.ed or D.ed but now it seems anyone can be a teacher. The problem doesn't lie with the fact that anyone can become a teacher but it lies with teachers who doesn't take teaching seriously and sometimes even teach nonsense. I've seen teachers playing with students and passing time or sometimes trying to teach hard but their not upto the point. This really pushes back the foundation of a child specially those in primary classes between 1-5 . I've also noticed that before our mothers specially homemakers used to guide and look after us for the academics but nowadays due to inflation most parents are forced to work in order to provide for the family and compete with the society as a result it reflects in negligence of their childrens academics and behavior. These are some of the few things which i have noticed after working for 2 years and think this points matter if we want a good education for our younger generation. It starts from parents to school to teachers and again back to parents. So don't just blame the system, school and teachers but parents should also take some accountability for this and look into their child's growth and foundation.
Obviously they should not be detained. If you fail an exam you should get 3 months to pass the exam again and again until you pass. Meanwhile they should be allowed to sit with their batch mates for next class but they should be allowed to sit for the final exam only if they have cleared last year's final exam.
As someone who has gotten a chance to work in delhi government schools, I can say with confidence that it was a much needed step indeed, the policy had brought children with an ease based convenient attitude of not studying as they would get passed anyways. Biggest drawback laid in students becoming disinterested in studies and teachers carrying a casual attitude of not teaching properly too. The quality of education had stooped to such a low that an 8th class student didn’t even know basic mathematical operations. However the sad part is whether the present delhi govt would comply to this new change or not or prefer to maintain the status quo

This is one of the best decision taken, parents, gaurdians, and students you should know that just passing or be promoted to next class is not necessary, you might passed class 8 but know nothing. Modi govt MUST also fix Congress's another blunder - "bringing arts departments to IIT campuses". Majority of art subjects are making youth cancerous to the society and such cancerous things should be kept out of IIT campuses.
This will create chaos, Take the case of Kerala, where majority of the students secured 90 plus percentage in 10th, the result is that many students are not getting the desired stream to study in 11th standard. This year, i heard in news that a state rank holder didn't get seat for 11th standard.
@@FlexQG Not bluffing Many students in Kerala were not able to get 11th stream of their desire despite good marks. Some have opted to do in Private Tuition centres
Failing students who are not meeting academic standards, rather than automatically promoting them, can improve the quality of education. Involving students in family work helps them understand real-life situations and is not detrimental to their development. The education system should prioritize vocational training to provide a pathway for students, as not everyone will secure a high-profile job. Many will become farmers or run family businesses. The current system produces graduates who cannot solve basic math problems or write simple English sentences, yet they demand government jobs. This is a significant problem. This approach should not be limited to schools. Government employees should also be required to pass annual exams to ensure they are updating their knowledge and maintaining a high level of service quality.
I have seen the transition of the failing policy as a student back during schooling, it was frustrating for me being a good student that the government had scrapped the failing of students and all the students irrespective of their performance would pass, but after all these years, i have seen many of the weak students doing very well in their life, certainly an important reason for this was that they didn't loose the opportunity and improved in their life later, and i personally believe that a student of class 5 or 8 isn't very mature to know the consequences of not scoring or not studying and it mostly relies on their parent's awareness at that time, government should help weak students in other ways without depriving them of an academic year

I used to tutor students of class 5 to class 12th during my bachelors degree, guess what; even though govt had reduced syllabus, had difficulty in covering the topics; few of them used to say "the school won't fail them, even they don't study" and the thing I observed in class 10 student is that they can't even solve the basic mathematical problems of substraction and division;
I am just 23M but still when I check the syllabus that we had and the syllabus they are having now, I fail to recognize why they are struggling to study.
If we look the students now a days, they are carrying lots and lots of books i their bag each and nd everyday, but don't have aptitude in their head. They can only solve the problems, that they have practiced in school, also only if all the numbers matches the same.

Your classmate knew the art of becoming wealthy. You knew the art of pleasing people around you. That's the main difference.
Education is not limited to school
Life is also education
He gained practical skill not ratta marao padhai
And business is also very competative
Very few individual without any support can do it effectively
He must have worked hard than you
You can't use 1 example for everything. He had a natural talent in business which he discovered due to his failure. That's different. There are countless examples of kids who lost all hope and committed suicide because they failed and couldn't tolerated facing their parents and society with shame. They failed; they didn't commit murder but that's how society here looks at them.
Your classmate must be a politician 😅 that's the only profession in India where failures succeed 😅
Very good. Everyone learns at a different rate. If they'll fail then they will have one more year to grasp those concepts and build a stronger foundation. If the base is weak, they will not be able to cope with higher studies.

34/50 in first sem and 44/50 in second sem
isn't it obvious? If I know I am gonna pass then why would I study in first place. this will incentivize teachers as well to relax and not teach.
Yes if failed in studying definitely get success in other fields without wasting their high energy young age on matter which they don't relate
Right approach
The question itself is wrong.
We should ask why our education system is not able to educate students?
Tests were supposed to check if one learned something or not. If one student fails then that means there is a problem in the student. But if we are covering up the failure of the whole class then the system itself is at fault.
Education should not be privatised but it is.
As one smart guy said there are two things missing in our education system. Education and system.
Great and helpful news. 👏👏
Students who cannot qualify shouldn't be promoted. It is really affecting education.
In 2001, I have been detained in class 5th my reason was my grandmother was expired during 2nd term 😢and there was no retest conducted during that time.
Wished no detention policy had applied then .
The mental trauma I felt during my school days was horrible😞
It impact your confidence life long .
Talking about quality of education in government schools 😂 what an irony
Great Idea
As someone who has gotten a chance to work in delhi government schools, I can say with confidence that it was a much needed step indeed, the policy had brought children with an ease based convenient attitude of not studying as they would get passed anyways. Biggest drawback laid in students becoming disinterested in studies and teachers carrying a casual attitude of not teaching properly too. The quality of education had stooped to such a low that an 8th class student didn’t even know basic mathematical operations. However the sad part is whether the present delhi govt would comply to this new change or not or prefer to maintain the status quo
I Remeber I failed in 11th stranded Last Year So To save My Year I took Admission in NIOS which Is World's Largest Open Schooling System , I got 63.6%This Year In 12th and Now Gonns Start My Company soon😂😂
Nios Saved My Year and Fees was Less
A neighbour kid from Class 10 can't even read analog clock and don't know what comes after 12:59 even in digital clock. Indian education system is just... interesting.
If a student can't read the book of class 2 or solve class 2 maths, then it means he needs another year of class 2, not class 5..
As teacher, i can tell even in class 6th students are very poor in basic math calculations and read.
Automatically promotion should be in 10 and 12 and in college also
Government should do that
Education for all
It is good to have a measure which can be done only by having a passing or failing in exams... Students of class 8 failing in simple mathematics of class 2/3 is a shame... No point in having such education system!!! Education is the means of creating learned, competent and capable future!!!
This is one of the best decision taken, parents, gaurdians, and students you should know that just passing or be promoted to next class is not necessary, you might passed class 8 but know nothing. Its better to detain those whom the teachers feels that the student needs tobe taught again so that they can gain better knowledge. There are many students who have passed class 5, 6 but still donot know how to read and write put aside understanding because of the no detention and pandemic.
Thank god I went to school in an era where they would fail students in 1st. I worked hard simply because I didn’t want to fail and be left behind while my friends moved to the next class,
Modi govt MUST also fix Congress's another blunder - "bringing arts departments to IIT campuses". Majority of art subjects are making youth cancerous to the society and such cancerous things should be kept out of IIT campuses.
Chalo achcha hua mai तो pass ho gaya school se 😂😂
This will create chaos,
Take the case of Kerala, where majority of the students secured 90 plus percentage in 10th, the result is that many students are not getting the desired stream to study in 11th standard. This year, i heard in news that a state rank holder didn't get seat for 11th standard.
No one cares lol
That's bull shit ... there are tons of higher secondary schools...both government semi and private...
@@FlexQG
Not bluffing
Many students in Kerala were not able to get 11th stream of their desire despite good marks. Some have opted to do in Private Tuition centres
Correct decision for th future of country n students...
A welcoming step for empowering teachers!
Genz are actively and passionatelg involved in least important issues and ignoring education is what i learned from this figures😢
I have seen the transition of the failing policy as a student back during schooling, it was frustrating for me being a good student that the government had scrapped the failing of students and all the students irrespective of their performance would pass, but after all these years, i have seen many of the weak students doing very well in their life, certainly an important reason for this was that they didn't loose the opportunity and improved in their life later, and i personally believe that a student of class 5 or 8 isn't very mature to know the consequences of not scoring or not studying and it mostly relies on their parent's awareness at that time, government should help weak students in other ways without depriving them of an academic year
I work in a government school and i suffer this problem every now and then. You can imagine a student just enrolled in class 11 science is unable to read texts. 'Aadhar'
They cant pronounce it. They wont tell u which is greater 1/2 or 1/3.
This is our policy and they have passed boards with distinction. Imagine this shit.
They say its a teacher duty to teach will i teach him/her Laws of physics or how to spell a word.
2:00 excellent 👍
These government should also care about teacher welfare
Remember, failure is also part of learning. Failure only makes you comeback stronger.
I just saw new AP government textbook its 1/4 th of what we studied which is 1/2 of what seniors studied if rhey study this the jump from 10th to intermediate is insane.
