That is a good job to pay a professional to do. I have never liked tire work, the bigger they are, the quicker I call someone else that has all the tools and equipment. It pays to have a Buddy in the Tire Business. Thanks for the videos, looking forward to seeing more.
I’ve fixed many tires. First off use lube and take small bites when talking off the old tires and use gravity as your friend. Next make sure the stem or core housing is at the bottom or 6 o’clock position and use a pull chain on new tube. Do not put stem through and nut on until second bead is on if using tube chain . Tire grease is better than soap. Those rims dont have a good drop center so it’s going to be tuffer. When removing tire make sure it’s pushed off main rim bead but don’t push it to far in or it will fight against you. Bust the beads on the dual and then install back on hub to replace tire. Put a tube in and air it up or blocks of wood in new tires to widen the beads .
A couple of my haying tractors have worse tires than what you took off, but they still have traction even pulling heavy tillage. I run them out until they are really gone and add the tire cost to my net profit. Some times I have to run the road and that converts new tires to used in a hurry. When changing tires I use a lot of talc like almost a pint per tire and Murphy's grease, the grease itself dries to a nice powder. I'm 78 and still do the tire stuff myself, with a forklift and power breaker it's really not too bad. I use an 10 foot boom on the forklift slung to 2 tire hooks for additional help. ------ That's going to be a nice rig once tired up.
Just adding another detail -- a real must is a bead chaser, either the gravity type or set screw version. I use 3 of them at a time, it totally cuts your time in half.
Definitely a job for a young man. I admire your ambition and stick-to-a-tive-ness. I'm to old for that stuff anymore. Good catch on the de-beader. Well, as others have said, I look forward to the finished product.
Just have to comment.. lol a couple of older gents came over to look at some tractors and I responded with the same line “I’m too old” when asked about some difficult task I termed as ‘getaroudtooit’ for a while now. Lol the older one asked ‘how old are you’ “70” He chuckled “I’m 90, do you need some help?” 😂😂🫵eat crow. Lol we had a good laugh. (He told me how he’d do it so I know he wasn’t full of shit) So As soon as they left I got right to it! And when I saw this video and need to fix a similar tire I fully plan to do it my self. Too old is just an excuse. Sorry but I got my ass kicked by that excuse so I’m passing it down. You’ll thank me later.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you fight that tire. Now i know what i looked like before i had more practice. By the time you are done with all 8 they will fall off an fall back on!
You are a better man than most. Hard physical work and ambition. Good work ethic. Did you get that on your own or a role model? Because I have watched since the beginning and you do work your ass off. And not afraid of any job.
Just got some tires on our 4630. 520/85r38 Mitas radials made in Charles city which is awesome. Also got new rims and inner weights to replace the fluid. man that thing rips through the field with the manure spreader compared to the bald 23°s that it had. Price wasn’t pretty but it’s so much better than getting stuck with that that spreader. But it’s just really satisfying having new matching tires. The 4-150 is gonna look and grab good with that new rubber on!
Good afternoon. Could a product like POR-15 help extend rim life after Chloride was applied but didn't screw up the rim? Verses buying a new rim. Thanks for showing the debeader.
Put your self some boards in between the beads that push them out. then put the tire in the sun. it will bead up for then. Have the same problem with semi tires that have been barrel stacked. The videos on the oliver plant was great to watch. Keep up the videos. Can't wait for spring field work to start😊
G’job OFB, she’s gonna be a beast with all new shoes on the ole girl😎the look and sound in your voice when the bead breaker worked was priceless, been there, it’s a good feeling when you modify something it works👍🏻keep em comin young man your doing great🇺🇸
You are right about those duals. Was taking them off our 2-150 years ago by myself. Was very heavy and immediately tipped out. Knocked me down and luckily leaned against welder that kept it from coming over on me. Be careful there
I know the fact those tubes had fluid in them, but one thing I learned to make life easier when pulling a tube out is stick a shop vac on it and suck it flat it doesn't fight you as bad.
I had a like problem with the Harbor Freight manual breaker. didn't want to go in and kept pushing back. I came real close to taking the grinder to it. And I was only taking off 12" ATV tires, which for their size can be a bitch. A handy chunk of 80 series PVC pipe kept the breaker from chewing the paint off the rims.
Got to love those Chinese tools. I grab up made in USA tools at garage sales. They might be 40 years old but work like new. Just got a 15 inch crescent wrench and 5 ballpeen hammers.😊
I know I know it's not practical, but the silver bullet would look badass with a set of 710/70R42 rubber on it. Like what all the big 600hp steigers have. Haha. Just daydreaming on a slow Sunday.
Perfect timing ..again 😁💯👍 I’m about to change over some 17.5 x24 on my back hoe. Thanks I need a bead breaker. Ps one thing I did learn was to use a couple of big c clamps with some strip of plywood to squeeze the tire at the top. This breaks the inner bead and lets the tire fall down in the centre of the rim and give more room for the tire to clear the rim at the bottom. Just my 2cents ✔️👌😂
I wanted to jump in there and help so bad a couple of times lol. You did just fine on your own. It's going to look a little naked without the duals on it. Once you have all new shoes on her, she'll look real nice. Once again, you took a tool and improved the design and ability of it,lol.
That's good that you were able to fix the bead breaker so it actually works properly. You would think they would have known how to make it right the first time. That definitely looks like a pretty big job changing out those tires. Thanks Michael
Tire replacement is an art form, watch a tire service truck come in and they change 8 tires in no time. I dislike changing tires and would have put the $250 on a bead breaker towards a tire service to change them, but that is just me and my dislike of changing tractor tires. Be safe and keep the videos coming.
The tire dealers around you must really suck. We buy a new tire the price includes mounting plus a $70 trip charge. That's what it was 2 years ago we paid $1250 per tire for 18.4 38 firestone radials
Don’t know what to tell you. Never seen a tire shop do a service call that wasn’t by the hour. Flat rate by the tire seems like a good way to loose your ass on service calls. And your firestones are now $1400 a tire.
I wasn’t will to chance it and bought commercial one, but $250 and your rework seems to be a good deal for you. Crisco works really well on the beads and washes up easy.
When I was your age I changed my own tires now I'm 60 an figure its easier to pay someone else to do it now I pick my battles what ill do an what ill pay for
I know you like to leave the tractor the way you get them ,but lol I think this awesome tractor would look so Kool with a good paint job ,just my thought Ethan lol.
Nothing infuriates me more than dismounting/mounting tires. That's money well spent to have a mobile tire guy come do them IMO. But that's me, plenty of guys do them themselves with little to no complaints lol
That tractor is going to look really nice with all new tires. glad you were able to figure out the beatbreaker and make the modifications so the tool would work for you. 😊☕🧰
i half expected a jump cut to the tire truck showing up. worth every penny imo
You can use another piece of equipment to drive on tire to free from rim. Have to lay it down.
Use a rv water pump out just get a cheap one. Put a hose (small)to go in the valve stem. Take time, but what a tire shop charges.
Your not the only one that has to modify new stuff you buy. At least it works good now.
I'm buying a 1950-t what is the straight pipe you put on your 1950-t size and where you got it please and thank you
That is a good job to pay a professional to do. I have never liked tire work, the bigger they are, the quicker I call someone else that has all the tools and equipment.

thanks for showing vovor tire bead breaker in use. did not know they exist. just bought a large parts cleaner from them.
It’s cheap China junk but it works.

Matching tires will make a parts tractor look 10 times better.
Been running Mitas since they where Continentals(10yrs).Exceptional in mud and road wear well also.
Stamn Equipment, Wayland MI. Been there many times. Now its gone….
That’s where our goose neck came from.
Not sure if you said the price when you made the video when you bought the new tires but I bet that bill was expensive
We have a tri axle business along side the farm and for all the mitchilen tires we buy our tire guy is happ

They have had tubes aired up in them to re round them for the last 3 months.
That sir is alot of work. Always great to have new tire on.
Yep

Now that is a workout.
Yep
You are right about those duals. Was taking them off our 2-150 years ago by myself. Was very heavy and immediately tipped out. Knocked me down and luckily leaned against welder that kept it from coming over on me. Be careful there
I had a stuck clamp on dual do that to me once.
I know the fact those tubes had fluid in them, but one thing I learned to make life easier when pulling a tube out is stick a shop vac on it and suck it flat it doesn't fight you as bad.
That tractor will surprise you with all new rubber !
I hope so
Good friend of mine's got one of the 4-225. Spent a lot of hours in that tractor. Now you see why guys hire that done.
We do all our own tire work.
I had a like problem with the Harbor Freight manual breaker. didn't want to go in and kept pushing back. I came real close to taking the grinder to it. I hate tire work. New tires are going to look great. Job always goes faster after you figure out a system!
Yep
Do the wheel and tube rub?

I know where one of those tractors is for parts. Been sitting for atleast 30 years in weeds in KS

It’s better with 2 people.

I figured there would be something wrong with it for what it cost.
I have the same breaker and it works fine with no modifications. Its just stupid heavy compared the more pricy ones I’ve borrowed in the past.
@@joshweiss3911 He may be welding it back on when he moves to semi-truck tires.
Just curious what do they charge to take off and mount a tractor tire?
150-200 bucks to show up. 100-150 an hour after that.
Dude, you're sitting on a gold mine with those used tires. Antique pullers would definitely pay $1000 per set.
They are junk. That’s why they are getting replaced.
Not going to lie, I’ve been waiting for these videos since the tires showed up. Can’t wait to see it with all of its new shoes on.
Yep

$250 was a one time expense. Service call bills keep coming.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy very true, you have the know how to change tractor tires, as for me it's like the monkey and football. Never got good at it.
I promised myself when I could afford to pay someone to change tractor tires I would. Done got too old to do it anymore.
Service calls are to expensive
Some jobs are worth hiring out. That is one of them.
And pay another thousand plus for a service call on top of what I already had to pay for the tires and tubes. No
@@Oliver66FarmBoy nice job on improving that bead breaker and the tire job. Subscribed

Its crazy how much tires cost considering that bead breaker didn’t work to bad
That's the kind of work that'll make an old man out of you Farm Boy
Na. It ain’t that bad.
Anything is a start, gonna look pretty sweet
Yep
I was always told when your pulling tires off to start and the top and work down. But there is a million different ways to skin a cat
I wasn’t will to chance it and bought commercial one, but $250 and your rework seems to be a good deal for you. Crisco works really well on the beads and washes up easy.
We use Murphy’s tire compound. I had to use it sparingly because I was almost out and my new bucket won’t be here till Tuesday.
Can’t wait to see it with the new rubber all the way around. Would make a pretty sweet restoration video on painting it.
Write me a 15k check and I’ll make it happen.
Maybe I missed it. But what brand and model of tire is that?
Carlisle
When I was your age I changed my own tires now I'm 60 an figure its easier to pay someone else to do it now I pick my battles what ill do an what ill pay for
I wasn’t paying a thousand dollars for a service call.
Should have had a tire shop change those tires they are better equipped to do that, save your back you only have one
And spend even more money
And eat a 1000 dollar service call? Wish I had your money.
I know you like to leave the tractor the way you get them ,but lol I think this awesome tractor would look so Kool with a good paint job ,just my thought Ethan lol.
Cast duals on a 150 hp tractor? Interesting.
Not that interesting. You could get cast duals on a 1755 and that’s only 80 horse.
How much does she weigh? Big newer tractors need 100 to 110 lbs per hp or so…….
am I the only one to notice the clover white
No you’re not, probably some spacers he had or bought already painted
Looks like zero fun on the fun meter Ethan.
Grind that breaker down it will work lot better
