For future tire dismounting/mounting adventure try a heavy mixture of water and dish soap (heavy on the dish soap) around tire bead, makes it a lot easier. Been there, done that, a bunch.
That little toy has eluded my radar. Might have to keep that in mind for future problems. I have become aware of the importance of studying the profile of a rim before putting a tire on. Knowing what way to press on the tire to get it to seat when putting air in is a game changer in itself.
Bought one identical to it about 3 years ago before HF carried them.. mine is made from the same chinesium though. Have probably changed a dozen tires with it from 18.4x42” down to 15” auger tires. Works every time, no more using the backhoe bucket or pallet forks to try and tear the bead off of the rim.
thank you for making this video, I got lucky with my search, I typed in bead breaker and this video is the first one that came up, watched it, bought the tool from my harbor freight, worked like a charm, first time I have ever had to do a job like this, thank you again for making the video
I bought one of those tools last year, but I got mine online (not from Harbor Freight). I bought the one I did because it was designed to be used with an electric or air ratchet, which is nice. They certainly are a great tool and save a lot of work.
1 3/16 inches is only about half a percent bigger than 30mm, which is probably the "official" size of that bolt head, though harbor freight chinesium isn't known for its precision ;)
You'll find it works just fine with a standard 1/2 drive ratchet.. 8.8 is next to the lowest grade metric bolt, there are also 10.9 and 12.9. 10.9 is roughly equivalent to a Grade 8 SAE bolt.. and a squirt bottle of water with dish soap helps a lot breaking them down...
I'm sure you don't have tire stores calling you constantly trying to hire you to change tires but you got the job done. That's all that matters. 🤣The bead breaker was a handy tool.
Spent all morning trying to break down a 38 inch tire for my John Deere A. Gave in and at lunch time hit google to see how others are doing it. Found this video and after watching it went right down to Harbert Freight and bought one. Wasn't 10 minutes and I had both sides broke down. Playing around with old farm tractors as I do that's the best 100 dollars I've spent in a long time.
To the most cynical, driest sense of humor on a farming channel. Great video. Harbor Freight used to be the tool store one would avoid and laugh at people who bought there. Now? It is a delight to go there and spend some time with my crafty woman as we drool over all the tools we really don't need but want all the more.
I bought an entire 3/4 drive socket wrench set with ratchet and breaker for the same price as just a ratchet and single socket alone would have been from Blackhawk, to say nothing of more expensive brands. I did have one socket that I didn't have in the kit I needed I had to buy, but that's okay... still cheaper and I have every size I pretty much need now.
FYI next time try driving the skid steer up on the bead of the tire, or use a jack under the counter weight and on the bead of the tire to force it down
huh thats pretty handy! yknow harbor freight actually has some pretty good tools. now there are some things you have to avoid. most of them can be avoided with some common sense. their welders are also pretty nice. i have one and i much prefer it over my hobart
One of my most hated jobs on the farm. Couple that with 95 degree July/August heat. Horrible job! I have to say though, that bead breaker is definitely worth the money. Got that on my shopping list. Next time I go to HF 😃
i broke one using an impact on it. welded and added some steel up on it after that happened. worked great for a long time after that! where its at today. ive not idea.
I did this with the tire still on the tractor. blocked up the base of the jack at the tire, some strategically placed blocking under the tractor and jacked off.... er... I mean, jacked it off... er... I mean... NEVERMIND!!!
if you are going to mount them anyways, why not mount them old, then dismount, remount new rim and then install tire? seems a lot of work doing them on the ground, when on tractor, gravity is your third and fourth hand
So. That converts to a 30mm. Your tire iron technique to get the rim the rest of the way out is wrong(your using the wrong end of the tool). You also need to be mindful of the drop point of the rim.
Cheap dish soap around the bead is your best friend. And won’t hurt the tire like oil will
For future tire dismounting/mounting adventure try a heavy mixture of water and dish soap (heavy on the dish soap) around tire bead, makes it a lot easier. Been there, done that, a bunch.
Hey, I didn’t know HF carried bead breakers? I guess it’s time to go buy one!
Harbor Freight has gotten a lot better in the past 5 years or so. I'm there all the time now. Glad you had luck with this tool.

Yes, had little trouble getting the bead on square in the next video.
I hire all my tire work out these days. It’s well worth the cost.
Thanks for the review of the bead breaker, I've been looking at it.

Cool seeing farmers working on tractor tires, all I ever see is new pickup and at tire shop waiting on mechanic to finish

Use an air ratchet but DO NOT use an impact. Keep the threads oiled. I’ve used mine a lot and haven’t broke it yet.
Doing tractor tires are never easy.
30 mm Socket is quite common in the metric large fasteners. Nice tool review.

I don't want to do that everyday.
Great video showing the bead breaker can't wait to receive mine

My guess is 6610?

I mean, they are affordable, I haven't broken a Pittsburgh wrench yet.

This has to be better exercise than paying for a gym membership 😂😂
Nice, I would say it go onto the Ford 6610, 👌👌👌
Good choice!
I'm digging the Arkansas Razorbacks hoodie. I may be a bit biased though lol
A viewer sent it to me.
Auto parts store has tire soap. Mix with water or use straight to block air leaks when mounting. 8.8 is equivalent to grade 5
Lots of fun. Have a good day.
Well shit. 80$ tool compared to 300$ x 4 Well worth the money. Plus. Tool still in great shape to work another day
FYI next time try driving the skid steer up on the bead of the tire, or use a jack under the counter weight and on the bead of the tire to force it down
Neat tool. This is what I love about farmers. It aint just milking cows! Thanks dude.
Next time use some liquid laundry detergent. Mixed with maybe a little bit of water in a spray bottle.

You will mess up the thread if you use an impact. Hand tools only
I puchased one a couple years ago. Used my Milwaukee 1/2 inch drive impact 4 10.00x20 tires and 2 tractor tires it was desroyed.
A little Dawn soap and water going back together so much simpler as always enjoy your videos keep up the hard
You break the tab off the pushing bolt. I broke one and went and found a bead breaker that can take an impact.
Yup, broke two tabs off, and bent the foot that presses the bead down. Bought one made to use an impact on, no more issues.
i broke one using an impact on it. welded and added some steel up on it after that happened. worked great for a long time after that! where its at today. ive not idea.
Show us more! Thats amazing!
I did not know hf made a bead breaker. I'll have to get one.
If you break it they will replace it at hf
Spray it all the way around the rim seal. Both sides. The tire will come off a lot easier
Some tires are rusted on to rim really hard to take off especially tractor tires
I might have tried backing the New Holland up on the side of the tire
I was wondering if it would work or not
Thank You for video
The TC on 38s 🤣😆😀👍
i thought you had 4 to do to be honest if it was me i would have taken them to the tyre shop
If there was fluid to be pumped, yes.
I was wondering if the HF will stand up ????
Jack-all off tractor drawbar works
I did this with the tire still on the tractor. blocked up the base of the jack at the tire, some strategically placed blocking under the tractor and jacked off.... er... I mean, jacked it off... er... I mean... NEVERMIND!!!
Looks great 👍
What ever became of the 2x2?
I fixed it mechanically, but I have to put the can back together.
Soak those tires and around the rims with diesel. Soooooo much easier 😊😂
The air over hydraulic ones work better if you can find them but is better than beating them off
I'm cheap and didn't feeling spending that much. At that point it's just as well to take them to a tire a shop.
if you are going to mount them anyways, why not mount them old, then dismount, remount new rim and then install tire?
seems a lot of work doing them on the ground, when on tractor, gravity is your third and fourth hand
Another ford in the Fleet? 💭💭
No new Fords, just taller tires.
@@boehmfarm4276 and more speed.
6610
Get a gallon of tire lube, or use dish soap. Lube the beads up to save Alot of effort.
Try working on a Dayton wheel/tire inflating without a steel cage and watch the ring blow through your body. Wow.
Them old good looking 70 Ford trucks i recall.👍👍
Where is 2 +2 is it sold and I think that tire is dual from him
The Firestones are from the 1486.
@@boehmfarm4276 and where is Anteater

Where’s is the bandit farmer. Your old buddy.
Just dry on it with your front steer tire breaks the bead don't hurt the tire
A powerful tool made in 🇨🇳 snd designed by 🇺🇸
You need soap!! Big life saver
radial???😂
👍👌❤🇨🇦
Jesus christ this is painful to watch. Can you sling that hammer any slower
Horrible Freight for the win.
