Emma, you should do these periodically. You're my favorite book tuber and this may be among my favorite of your vlogs. Thank you for being so open and genuine. It's appreciated and it really helps.
that's a great idea and thank you so much!
Wish I could click the zoom links to my online meetings this fast🤣
emma, would you/ have you taken medicine for anxiety? i'm debating...
Calcifer: regally blocks camera with paw.
Emma: “Oh, okay no questions at this time.”
😂😂😂
"Being adjusted to this way of life makes me lose a part of myself." I know this feeling.
Didn't even notice that this was a 45-min video 'coz you're so fun to listen to. ☺️
Okay I think we're the same person 😭 I am also a book-loving introverted vegan who hates cities and wants to open an animal sanctuary one day. I feel the same way about meat and had a very similar experience with bullying and feeling powerless to do anything. It has always been first and foremost about the suffering of animals for me, and helping the earth and my health are big bonuses. Also my name is Emma too!
hi long lost twin!!!
I've been secretly waiting for a qna for so long. The last one I saw was a couple years ago when I stumbled upon your channel. I got to know so much about English literature through that. Now I'm going to start university this year and I can't wait to study literature. Your channel has a lot to contribute to that. Sending you love and hugs💛💛
"Attention!" You're hilarious and adorable, Emma. I'm so glad you're feeling better. I can relate to waiting for temperature-hot foods to cool down before eating them.
I loved your section talking about dealing win anxiety and panic attacks. I have anxiety and it manifests as picking at my skin, pores, nails, hair, basically anything I can hyper focus and pick at 😂. My new method is to say “I don’t need to do this to feel better” or “I don’t have to do this to feel better, I’m stronger than this” and it’s been helping a lot this week! I hope someone sees this and this mantra helps them :)
Omg Emma! What you just said here 17:32 resonates so much with me and I never thought about it this way. ❤️ I feel the same, if I get used to the city it would be like loosing a huge part of myself
Thank you for answering these questions, Emma! It was a delight to watch this video! ❤️😊
This is something I’ve been wanting since I started watching you a little more than a year ago! I absolutely love your channel, Emma! It’s my favorite one ever and I enjoy every video you upload so learning more about you makes it so more special ❤
Thank you for being so real with us because like, there are so many points when I felt so seen! 🥰
I relate so much to what you are saying about people telling you that you are calm. People always tell me I'm so calm and soft and it always makes me kind of uncomfortable. I know they mean it well, but after they say that, it feels like I can't be annoyed, sad or angry, because they have this image of me being so composed
interesting. people think i'm an introvert. i have pretty intense social anxiety
I’m so glad you made this q&a, many of your answers resonated with me a lot. like about not fitting in in the city and the making friends thing. I miss nature from my daily life a lot. Also I recently moved back to my hometown cuz uni is over and it feels so weird cuz I pretty much know no one here anymore and all of my close friends live in other cities. really trying to find ways to spend time by myself but it can feel pretty isolating at times. Your videos always cheer me up. 🤍
Emma, I really recommend Steppenwolf! It's my second Herman Hesse novel and the writing is as addictive as the first. I went out in nature, and the solitude of being there by myself + the writing in this book went hand in hand together ♡
awwww this was so nice!!! thanks for opening up and sharing these snippets of life with us; it must take a lot of confidence. and thank you for a lovely time, it felt like chatting with a friend 💜
I did not want this video to end at all😭😭.. It felt like a close friend was sharing their life anecdotes amd views with me🥺🥺... Please create more such videos Emma💜💜🌸🌸
Hi Emma,
I’m from Japan and currently living in Toronto as an international student.
I’m so happy that you love studio Ghibli and enjoy Japanese literature❤
And I relieved to hear that you don’t like Toronto since I also struggle to fit to this place..
Anyway I love watching your channel and I hope you will come to my country some day:)
Moved to Toronto two months ago. ITS SOO TOUGH TO MAKE FRIENDS 😭
Not to sound weird but your laugh at 40:50 was so adorably wholesome that it made me smile from ear to ear. Loved the video! Stay happy and blessed, Emma!
Thank you for being so real when asked how you made friends after moving to the city. I'm the same way. I think people don't talk about this enough, so thank you again.
i relocated 4 years ago and i've made exactly one friend. she's a gem, but one friend is rough. luckily i regularly text my posse of friends who i left behind
I love your longer videos!! ♡
thank you for adopting & not shopping ! there are so many cats in shelters/rescues that need loving permanent homes ! ❣️
We will support you no matter what, Emmie. God bless you.
Love this video!! I feel like I would watch your videos every now and then
i love this video of you just talking , it’s very relaxing
yehey! emma qna >
Very interesting vlog! Most of your views and plans sound right and I am very supportive of them. Wish you all the best!
Absolutely love the hair styling em!!
I went vegetarian in 7th grade, and I was horribly bullied. People would throw meat at me in the cafeteria at school, even people I thought were my friends. And then I went vegan when I turned 16, and there were so few options back then. I’m almost 24, and it’s insane how many options we have now. There were barely any meat substitutes, let alone have them taste good. Now, there’s amazing food!
Omgggg I also am very much helped when I'm having a panic attack by someone talking to me about the most random stuff. Just to have a calm voice talking to me is very helpful. I'll call my aunt and she'll just tell me about her day or whatever and it's so helpful.
I couldn't remember what I asked you, so I just pretended I asked every one of these XD
This was great, thanks for sharing with us. Hurrah for the coffee and Taylor love!!
So your response about if you weren’t in literature what you’d be doing, you answered about music performance!! I was super curious what instruments or music you play! I’m a piano teacher and musician and was excited to hear what you play and what music/artists you like listening to!
10:55 I also love winter because I’m the same way where I’m almost always warm! One of the symptoms when I’m sick is that I get cold/get chills/just starts shivering!
loved to know about calcifer!!! And as you like nature I'm sure you would love to visit brasil. There's a city in my state called "Bonito" and there's just so much nature to see and visit there. I'm really happy to know you're feeling better and that life is, once again, exciting to you. I'm dealing with depression for quite a long time and I'm not yet in that comfortable and healthy place, but your videos amongst many other things (like bts as well 💜) are helping me in staying in this world at least. So thank you so so so much for every video, every post, every stories and every single good you have been doing to this day, probably it wasn't very easy and I'm glad for everything you did. I truly appreciate you and your content, and I hope only good things come for you. 💜
haha, thank you for answering the question about the guy you spilled water on his laptop, I loved that video and I was actually concerned😂 I hope everything keeps going well between you both~
Also, I'm curious, do you read in french?
watching this while eating cookies and studying for an awful french linguistics exam that i have tomorrow !! love learning more about u
also emma you'd absolutely die if you lived here where i live in spain.... it's march and we are hitting almost 30 degrees celsious tomorrow
Thank you Emma! My cats have my heart too!💕🐈
u are so lovely, I am so happy to have found your channel, you always make my days a little better
I'm so glad you found your way here
Needed this today. It’s like every time I have a really bad day Emma posts and I can forget my life for a bit. ❤
Hi Emma! I’m on progress of learning English at the moment and I’m collecting new vocabularies and phrases from your videos.
As a both OCD and anxiety disorder survivor, touching Buddhist teachings actually helped me and healed my soul a lot.
I’m studying Buddhism at uni, and practicing meditation and yoga is also helpful. Now no panic attack and even if I feel anxious I can deal with it and manage it very nicely and calmly.
My book recommendations are Thich Nhat Hanh books and “When things are fall apart” from Pema Chödrön. These are extremely good.
Anyway I am looking forward to watch your further videos and will have so much motivation towards my reading.
Love from Japan.❤
thx, Emma, it's always nice spending time with you; still looking forward to April's book club live show. Currently David is dealing with the Emma dilemma, and I couldn't help but think of Pride and Prejudice. I'll be reading Catcher in the Rye as a paperback.
Listening to this after my eye surgery and in some pain and this is so soothing to me 😊 just this just what I needed
ah hope your'e healing quickly and feeling so much better by now
@@emmiereads thank you, lots better 😊
whenever you get around to starting a martial art i hope you enjoy it! i do taekwondo and it's so rewarding
Emma I think you could really like Norway! The nature there has touched me more than anywhere else. You've got the cold, fjords, the sea and a lot more trees than in Iceland ;)
Folklore is my favorite Taylor album too! I'm so glad to hear you like her 🥹😅💙
eagerly awaiting her international tour dates I am nervous lol
You are also really funny I love your sense of humor
"And they were roommates" 😂 you are so funny Emma I always appreciate your humor
yay! new video from youuuuuu. you look stunning!!!!! so much love from Philippines 💖💖💖
I could actually listen to you speak all day.
Also, please tell Calcifer I love him! ❤
I will!!
What a fun q&a. How many of us said “Banff “ at the same time 😊 Thanks Emma. 💕
I couldn’t agree more about everything you said about being vegan. Thank you for sharing, it’s so important 💚🌱
Ps I know you mentioned Kelowna, but I feel like you’d love Vancouver Island. Especially if you’re looking for trees and mountains. As long as you are okay with rain 😉
i just want to say that i love you and you inspire me so very much 💗
thank you so much lovely
I love your videos :) I took French in high school. I would love to dive back in and learn more about it again.
Thanks so much for the q and a update and letting us learn a bit about you 😊
Haha found it so funny and sweet that your living with the guy that got water spilled on his laptop. 😂
❤ I also watched Howls Moving Castle and it was my 1st Ghibli film too. Plus the book was good.
Wow, I just finished watching a video where an American English teacher did the same thing where she answered 100 questions about herself, and I soon as I finished watching that, a notification pops up about you, and here I am about to watch your one.
The name of youtube video I have just come from is "You’ll Be Glad EVERY Day That You MASTERED These Questions!" and from a woman called Rachel.
Ditto about the cold. I love the cold, feel great in it, my energy and mood soar. I hate the heat, feel exhausted and drained, and it’s hot 8 months a year here in south Louisiana. Ugh. Also: cold pizza is heaven.
Emma, thanks for being so genuine. I resonated with what you said about friendships. It's hard to make friends as a kid but even more challenging as an adult. I found a community of people I love in my city by learning how to social dance. I dance lindy hop, and it's one of the most joyful experiences I've encountered as an adult (and Toronto has a great scene). Along the way, I've met some of the most important people in my life. This might be a strange suggestion, but it worked for me. Hope you are well :)
YES to cold food! I love when the food's been sitting for at least a few hours before I dig in.
I GASPED when you mentioned the guy you spilled water on his laptop still lives with you. That’s so funny I DIED watching your worst dates as books video. Glad it worked out tho 😅
So excited to hear Japan as one of the countries you want to visit! Just be careful though, we serve many things boiling hot😅 and it’s considered good when things are hot. Of course, sushi is the exception.
Hey Emma! I'm one of the first people here for the first time!! It's so exciting 🤭. Man, I don't really use IG if that's where you asked us to ask the questions, so I'm bummed about that but I'm happy regardless!
You should try cold noodles! It’s a thing in Korea which I recently found out about! And it’s so cute hearing about your relationship ❤
oh my god would've could've should've has broken me a hundred million times seriously that song is so- i cannot express myself. there are no words.
I love that your answer to my tickle fight question is, that you'd just straight up turn into a banshee and scream Carolyn into submission. Did not expect it, but that answer kinda gave me life 😂
Hi Emma, please do try martial arts! I am an extremely introverted and shy person and a year ago doing mixed martial arts was something I would never imagine myself doing! My best friend was convincing me for months to try it! I think it took him around 4 months of ordering me to try it! He wanted me to start doing it to feel strong and confident. I was so tired of him telling me to try it that one day I simply went to a Muay Thai class. My plan was to go once, then call him right after the class, cry on the phone and tell him that I’ve tried it, but it is not for me and I will never go back. Well, I did call him after the class, but all I said was that I will do this again! 😂 I then tried Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA, which I prefer to Muay Thai and have been training it for more than a year now! My best friend was correct, it has made me feel strong and confident! Plus it is a lot of fun and the best form of exercise I’ve ever done as it doesn’t really feel like I am exercising as it is just fun! 😊 I can understand why Brazilian Jiu Jitsu may seem intimidating. It certainly did to me. I thought I would never roll on the floor with random people. 😅 If you feel the same way, I would suggest starting with boxing or Muay Thai. Although, I do think that Jiu Jitsu is the best. I am sure you can find beginners classes or ladies only classes even in Toronto. Please try it. Don’t overthink it too much and just go to a class. 😊
I just love you Emma 💕 I love your honesty, it is so refreshing! I love how we all have our own dreams and wants and goals, I just love it
Love this!! Wish I had you for a friend when I moved to the US from Canada.
No because I have never been more seen than when you mentioned you let food go cold before eating it, like I don’t know why I do that either but you’re not alone 🙌
i started muay thai last year and its really so fun :) hope you find a martial arts class where you feel comfortable!
Im late but i enjoyed this video💜 thanks emma
Oh I moved in June and made friends at a book club! It's only 1ce a month so less pressure, I know we have things in common, and if we get stuck we can just talk about the book. The hard part was asking to meet up, but I just said I was going to get food and did they want to join me.
I love this video
folklore is my favorite album of all time
calcifer is so cute ✨️
that is so sweet how you and your boyfriend got together
Emma, when you come to Brazil, make sure to go to Ouro Preto and Tiradentes, in Minas Gerais. It's much more of you vibe than São Paulo, for example
we need a podcast girl !!
House?
That was a good question for me. I used to live in one from my birthday till I got married (with two short breaks). Now I live in a too little flat for my family and I appreciate it very much and, at the same time, I crave for more space. "House?" is a question I ask myself every other day.
Ooof just a cool coincidence but we got same birthday!🤭 Love your video 💓
cities are nice emma! if you ignore, the bustle, it can be so nice, at least i think anyway.. 😅 its like a maze! with streetlights and stuff 😊
My husband and I have to two team the trimming of our cat's nails. Also, a treat is a must. He will do anything for a treat.
emma: i just finished Castle in the Clouds. It's my all time fave among all of your recommendations! have you read The Westing Game? it also takes place in a hotel setting!
Love ur nails!! ❤❤
first!! love u sm emma💙
Ever wondered someone doing maths while you talk !? I did that. I did maths all the way to the end of this video nonstop for almost 44min. It's just so calming listening to you Emma.
(P.s I rewind the laptop boys' part. 🌚)
You want to go to Brazil?? Yessssss come hereeee skip the Equatorial line if you don't like the heat though, or go during the winter
you trying to cut calcifer's nails is just so wholesome and cute omg ;______;
oh my god screaming into a pillow is so accurate for depicting my toronto experience too. came here 5 months ago, can't wait to go back home
i have that experience hourly in rural NC (usa)
I moved from Toronto to Kelowna BC and I feel it's the perfect size for me right now. There are enough coffee shops, restaurants, bookstores and things to do (a full Hospital, vets!) but with lots of nature around it... you can drive in any direction for 40 min to an hour and you find something beautiful, lakes, trees, animals (the air smells so good lol)... I love it and as much as I miss many things from Toronto I can't imagine going back now after almost 3 years in Kelowna.
that sounds so so lovely:') maybe one day I'll make it over there!
My cat learned “jump up!” and “Sit!” And “Wait!” as an adult boy (~8 years old) so I don’t think it’s ever too late! He seems to love doing his tricks, but sometimes I get the feeling he’s just tricking me into giving him treats…
cutting Calcifer's nails solo is the greatest cat-related master skill i've seen - all 4 cats I ever had required two people for that operation
mine bites down her nails!!
the vet told me that typically they let the owner and the owner only trim their nails, and certainly it helps if the trust relationship has been building since early kittenhood (IMO),
@@jamesduggan7200 all 4 cats I ever had were rescues so i wouldn't know
@@StavrosGaredakis idk - I assume there's a different dynamic but really it's mostly a guess
What is your skincare routine? Your skin looks so healthy and smooth~
My favourite pokemon is Cubone ❤
This was lovely Emma
YOU WERE BORN ON THE 24TH OF JULY?! Me too. 🥺❤️ And I love your videos. They bring me so much comfort. And you are so relatable.
You would probably love Muir Woods in California (near San Francisco)! It's a very magical place that blew my tiny mind.
You pronouncing studio Ghibli correctly made my Japanese heart really happy 😊
That part with cutting Calcifer’s nails just made me think of Monty Python’s confuse a cat in Flying Circus😹👏
Thank you for clearing up the Emma/Emmie quandary.
I LOVE the movie Clue and have never met anyone else who did so this blessed me 😂
truly a work of art
"One of the greatest things in life tbh, Studio Ghibli" YES! YES YES YES
I'M A SLYTHERIN TOO 😭😭😭 This video has made me realize we have so much in common 😂 ilysm 💙
