Thank you for the straightforward chat throughout. Very helpful. I shall get one of those pumps. At 74 it must be better than grovelling under the car.Just hope I get all the old oil out.
Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, it does a great job. I actually just finished changing oil on my Chrysler 200. After doing it so many times, this one took me 12 minutes. I barely had time to finish my beer. I ordered the upgraded version that can hold all the oil from the Mercedes (mine is a tad bit too small) and I can hook it up to the compressor which means I don't even have to pump anymore. Yes, even at 46 years old, I'm already cutting every corner I can find. I'm super stocked that you're still working on your own car. It's something a non-car person will never understand.
Great V I love it, just bought my 03 Sl500 yesterday and B service will due in 7 days. Thx to you for sharing your knowledge . I think I’m ready to learn how to service my own car now Thank you
Congrats. What a great car. It’ll give you many miles of smiles. Just keep it maintained and fix little things before they become big ones. Check the description, I usually put links to parts used there. I usually buy from Amazon unless I can score a coupon for a better deal locally.
For someone that's not a mechanic you definitely have some high tech skills! I was confused about which models have ABC suspension and which have air matic 🤔 as I thought all 500 series had ABC, some do some don't. I got a nice surprise when I pulled my airbox to replace the filters with K&N and found it already had them!😁 One MB mechanic didn't recommend them as sometimes if they are over oiled the oil may migrate to the mass airflow sensor 😒. Think when I do clean those I'll just oil the engine side lightly.
Oh thank you. I think it’s less skill, some common sense and a lot of luck ;). The S600 has the ABC. It’s hydraulic and if it breaks start a new mortgage on that home. I passed on a few V12 Benzes for that reason. In regards to the K&N. I like them. They are great. My 200 is the first one in nearly 20 years I didn’t put one in. People over-oil them and then complain when it splatters. But I also made a video how to clean the MAF just in case it gets oily.
My wife’s clk320 is stuck in the driveway. After watching you video, I feel brave enough to tackle the same issue of the shifter. I’ll let you know how it went.
Wow what timing, I was just watching one of your old vids last night:).. Happy to see the Benz is doing so well, I’ve only put about 2500 miles on my CL550 since getting it last year so haven’t even done an oil change yet!😄 Lol
Benz is doing fantastic. I’m sad I don’t get to drive it anymore. The CL500 is an amazing car. I really love it. Maybe, one day, the stars will align and I’ll find one for myself. With a beautiful car like that, how do you not drive it all the time? I don’t have that kind of restraint. Enjoy your gorgeous ride!
Thank you very much!:).. I don’t drive it much in the rain and not at all in the winter months as we live in Michigan and go to Florida,, But no doubt a very very lovely automobile:)., You should definitely get one, the w215 is basically the same as the S class you guys have underneath but the w216 that I have is really hitting bottom dollar these days and is a bit more modern and sleek and has great power for having a NA non turbo engine ., The facelift 2011 ones are great too but they have the turbo engines witch have a bit more issues with age, but the m273 in the 07-10 is great:)..
I have my eyes on the W216. Best of both worlds, better technology than the W215, better reliability than the new one. And it’s the cheapest currently. Let’s see how that plays out over the next few months. Hoping to find a nice one for a good price. Please post pics on my Facebook page. I’d love to see it! Share your stories. Enjoy!
Step 1: Switch On Ignition and Use Menu to Get To Odometer. Step 2: Use Up Arrow to Get To Service Indicator. Step 3: Hold Down the Reset Button on the Instrument Cluster. Step 4: Observe Menu “Do You Want To Reset Service Interval?”. Step 5: Confirm by Pressing Reset Button Again.
We just found a leak. Going in for an inspection to see what’s up. It’s slow, maybe a drop a day. I think it’s the front main seal, which is a $25 part with 8 hours of labor and I can’t do myself. If it’s the rear main seal that’ll be another video. Not too bad for 153k miles.
Trans problems is the only real issue I’m worried about. I know there are some channels out there who say it’s easy. It probably is if you have a lift, but dealing with a trans issue on jack stands is a whole other issue. I’m getting it diagnosed this morning. Let’s see what they say. Check your trans fluid level. That caused issues for us a few years back. We corrected it and all was fine.
Well, verdict is in. Rear main seal is leaking on the transmission, the lower oil pan as well as the upper oil pan. Total bill $2600-3000. The leak is minor, they said I should be able to drive for another year before I should start looking into fixing it. I can do the lower oil pan, not sure what the "upper oil pan" is yet but I'll find out.
Yes, I have a video on brake fluid power flush. It’s not part of the B service but rather part of the brake service. Differential oil is coming in a future episode, also we will tackle power steering fluid. Thank you for watching! :)
Draining the oil the traditional way is easy. First time I’ve seen an extractor was when I bought a Fiat 500. The dealer would extract it, not drain it. So now, I have an extractor now too. I love it. It’s so easy and quick and it drains the oil completely. Here is by basic rule (for myself). If the oil filter is in top, I extract it. If the oil filter is on the bottom, I just do everything down there the traditional way. The extractor is a lot cleaner to work with than getting underneath the car. In regards to K&N. I never had an issue with it. The Mercedes is at 150k miles and had K&N since the first service. No issues. Engine still runs so smooth, you can balance a quarter on its side. See my other videos for more info. Thanks for watching!
@@Turbo_Snail i have no clue im just gonna get everything myself and do it this weekend. I looked up for just the oil and filter i was seeing $100 online
@@Turbo_Snail I know it's easy but, my time is more valuable. The oil drain, lift, wipers mobil 1 synthetic, topping off fluids and buying all the filters. You are at about 100 dollars without the labor or screwing something up. I wouldn't put used filters back in the car as well. Also, the B Service is about once every 2 years and really 3 is recommended. The A Service is about 225 at an expensive Mercedes dealership.
You are right. You are smart by leveraging your income vs expense or time vs value. That’s the right thing to do. However, this car belongs to a now 19 year old who is not a high income earner. Also, I wouldn’t have a RUclips channel ;).
@@Turbo_Snail A 19 year old that should know the maintenance cost of owning a Mercedes. ;) It isn't a hand me down Toyota Corolla. (Ahh..Scotty) Also, the car was fully paid for by who? Hmm? It's fine on an old Mercedes, that actually requires better maintenance, but if the car dies tomorrow, you got more than your money's worth. To be honest, with the parts we are finding it's about as cheap to maintain as a corolla. Yeah, the corolla doesn't have the pneumatic suspension and miles of wiring to go wrong, but for the luxury and safety of this car, I couldn't imagine my next youngest child driving anything other than a "tank" around town.

You always have the best videos. I have a 2005 S55 AMG. You helped me out with a pneumatic problem.
Nice, I’ve been looking for an S55 or a cl55 for over a year now. Can’t find a good one for a reasonable price. I love those!!

Glad you liked it!
where did you get the oil gadget from, it makes a very clean oil change
Amazon. Check my oil change video. I can’t do without it anymore. It’s the best.
Hi what’s mean Serviss B9?
B service. Every other service is a B service. A little more detailed. A service is simple oil and filters.
Dear Turbo Snail ,,What about the differential oil ?Brake Oil ?
Yes, I have a video on brake fluid power flush. It’s not part of the B service but rather part of the brake service. Differential oil is coming in a future episode, also we will tackle power steering fluid. Thank you for watching! :)
On Model B 200 CDI 2014
Sorry, not sure how that is in the B model. We don’t have that here in the US
I just did all that and it’s still saying service in 500 miles
You gotta reset the service counter. It’s in the end of the video. You gotta push and hold the reset button.
👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Your awesome, wish we are neighbors. Maybe you can help me 2015 250cla Mercedes’

They wanted to charge me 650 for a b service🤣
