Great video! I was wondering if worn disc could make the gear selector move slightly when accelerating, I’ve replaced transmission mount already still have the issue. Thanks!
@@Mechani_Cole i did replaced the mount already (ML350 ‘13 4matic) I noticed some change but there’s still some vibration. It barely has 100k miles. Thanks
@Sanneti2012 have you replaced the engine mounts? That should make a huge difference. The disc doesn't need to be replaced unless you see it's cracked or worn
I would go with OEM only. I had a nightmare of a time using aftermarket febi bilsteen front sway bar busings. They squeeked like crazy. When I went back to new OEM bushings = back to normal. Cheap out on the part, you will pay later when you have to do it 2x with an OEM part.
They are cheap, do them both when you are at it. Watch out as the W212 has two options. Rear is the same for all but the front has two versions. One flex disc is the same as the rear (all 6 holes are the same) and the other version has 3+3. Meaningn 3 holes are the same as all 6 in the rear and the other 3 have a sleeve protruding above the hole. Take one or two screws off so you can see what your case is and order accordingly. You can then put the screws and nuts back in place and do the job when you have all parts at hand. The new flex discs should come with fastening material as well. If not then don't buy it and search elsewhere. Might also consider to change the center bearing. Comes in two options - holder with bearing and holder without bearing (you'll need to buy it extra and press it in place). The price difference is usually small and not worth buying the parts separate and simply buy the center holder as a complete set. Transmission mount might be something to consider but if you are not sure you don't need to do it. You can replace it anytime fairly easy. Cheers :)
I have a ml350 05 and when I put it in P and D n R I hear a clunk and when I drive I hear it in the shifts too I think it’s the support bearing could it be this ?
You can usually visually inspect these and see the wear and tear. Lift it up, put it in neutral and grab the drive shaft. Turn it back and forth and see where the movement or clunking is coming from
I have never replaced a driveshaft on a Mercedes in the rear. I’m going 300 miles to pick up a parts car for my car and I have to remove the rear shaft can anybody help me figure out where I can find a video I just wanna make sure that I go all the way down there and take what I need specifically for a 2006e 4 matic i’m gonna be in front of the guys house on the ground doing it dude I really like the videos man
4Matic - you'll need both shafts removed if towing on ground like towbar style. Or if dolly just the rear driveshaft - should be same as driveshaft disconnect at rear for a flex disc replacement, yes ? Can you load onto auto transport trailer - that avoids all this. Just my 2 cents worth lol
Can you help me with a question? I have a cls w218 and at high speed if I take my foot of the accelerator quickly, it gives a kick, sometimes stronger, sometimes less strong. It seems to be heard from behind, and I think it is from the cardan, driveshaft flex disc, or something. What do you think?( the gearbox shifts very well, but i think I need to change the gearbox oil. In that condition, that could be a factor?)

Hi, I have a problem with vibrations in my W212 car. The engine mounts and gearbox mounts were replaced but unfortunately that did not help. The vibrations mainly come from the bottom of the car. They are most noticeable in winter when the temperature drops below 0 degrees. You can't feel them while driving but when stationary you can feel them on P, a little more on D and worst on R. Do you think it could be the flex disc? For reference I am attaching a video with a bottle in the car to illustrate how intense the vibrations are. ruclips.net/video/Md4e4yhwawk/видео.html&ab_channel=KamilJ%C3%B3%C5%BAwiak

It’s not coming from the suspension. The sound is coming from the center console part down from the hear shift knob where the tray is. I’ve got a 74 450SL Mercedes. I guess a better explanation would be when the car is accelerating when I’m turning and I can hear it and feel it as if the u oversaw joint was twisting as if you were twisting a chicken wing apart in a circular motion so when I let off the pedal the grinding crunching clunking noise stops and I slow down some to not engage it too much and damage it further whatever it is. I believe it’s the driveshaft just below that part. Wish I could post pictures. Also. Not sure why I was saying when I typed moon..

I appreciate this video, keeping them classic w202 in modern style.. love it!!!
don't forget to mark the drive shaft before completely unscrewing and removing the discs, it is balanced and you don't want to lose that!
You have to mark bolts or position
Another outstanding video! 🎉
thank you for this very clear and bright to the point

Really good video thanks gonna try and do that soon
nice video clear and well filmed also . did u remplace the other flector on the back?
Thank you, and no I didn't. The one in the back didn't have any cracks and looked really good still
well made brother, thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching and commenting 🫡
Besides the clunking, is it possible that this bad flex joints cause intermittent vibrations thru the whole body?
Yes, but repalce the trans mount at the same time. Will make a huge difference

Good question. Maybe Grease was used during install from factory and spins out? Not sure, didn't seem like an issue on mine

I disagree. I've been using this Febi replacement for about a year with now issues.
Febi Bilsteen replacement what? Flex disc or sway bar bushings?@@Mechani_Cole
This video is about the flex disc. That's what Im referring to. I don't have a video on the Sway bar bushings

Great video thanks!
Thanks for the comment🤙🏼
How many flex discs do these cars have. I was told 2 but people only changing 1...am I right
Yes. There is 2. Usually just the first one goes bad, so that's why it's replaced
@Mechani_Cole ok thank u for reply... is it worth doin both of them? Is the other side same job time or harder to do..thanks
@boigoe I just did the one that looked worn. If they both look bad, replace both. If one looks good, it's probably fine
