I own both and for maneuverability at high speed the mambo fly in my opinion it can’t be beat. Much more enjoyable to fly. Also if you put the Tello’s blades on the mambo fly it becomes much quieter and more nimble.
$150 at Best Buy buys a Parrot bundled with a controller, FPV top mounted camera, and goggles. Hard to argue with that, but I have no first hand knowledge about it.
Yes, the comparison is difficult (as both drones are very good)… It seems like the Mambo does have more accessories available than the Tello… but if buying the basic package, it’s nice that the Tello has a camera out-of-the-box (at a good price)...
Nice. If u r looking for something for ur kid, mambo all the way. I got the mambo with the camera and goggles and controller pack for my 9yr old and he is over the moon. He has already added all his lego to it and it still flies! 10mins flying isn t long but extra battery pack, shooter and grabber for Xmas and this will be awesome.
The Tello takes awesome still pictures. The video is better than most mini drones. When you fly with a Blu tooth controller it interferes with the video signal making it worse. It has a short range. The non interfering USB controller only works on I phone. The video feed only works good on certain phones and few controllers are actually compatible. It overheats and shuts down if you leave it on too long while not flying. That's probably why it turned off in the video. The up and away, circle modes, bounce mode, ect are kind of gimicky. The batteries are great it will fly 13 minutes in low wind. It takes an hour and a half to charge the battery, less with a 2 amp charger. Expect to pay 200 if you want a controller and half hour flight time. $100 for Tello $20 × 2 batteries $35 for controller $20 for 4 battery charger $10 shipping from Dji store If you want a better than most mini drone for pictures and video don't mind using your newer model smart phone for a controller. Go for the Tello.
James Williams Yep, I just bought one yesterday. It's a Much better build quality than all these other cheap $50 drones I've been buying. IE.... propel brand
Yes better range… You may have to configure the flypad with the drone the first time (using your mobile device or cell phone), but after that you can simply just use the controller…
The Mambo is much more fun and I use it a lot around the yard. Forget the camera and silly attachments (even though it's cool to have). With the controller that easily pairs with the Mambo, it's fast and fun. It's vertical range is about 100ft. The Tello sits on my shelf. The controller by Gamesir is never guaranteed to work all the time with the Tello and it's just not controller ready to fly. Flying with a phone sucks. The camera? Who cares, because it's cheap and let's be real, it's a toy. The Mambo is a toy. It's just more fun. And since it's been 8 MONTHS already, there aren't any more accessories than were available when it came out. Go with the Mambo.
I would have to disagree with this video but in a very respectful way is it is a very good video. But I only say this because what you did was compare a drone that is obviously advertised to be a selfie camera drone Hence the better camera, and a drone that is advertised as a toy that shoots little balls and can deliver little messages and not advertised really as a selfie Drone. So if you were to do a review on a selfie camera drone it should probly be in comparison to another selfie camera drone. If you want a drone so you can take pictures then you would obviously go with the DJI drone because that's what it was designed for but if you want a drone to just fly around like a toy and have fun with With maybe a friend then you go with the parrot. Do you see where I'm going with this You may not want to compare 2 drones that are actually designed or even advertised to do different things from one another But then again I really can't think of a drone that only cost a $100 that you could really compare to the DJI Maybe the parrot bebop 1 I think you can get for 100 dollars refurbished. I'd still like to say this was a very good video keep up the good work.
I would agree if they were priced the same, but I picked up a mambo fly for $60 Au and the tello was retailing for $140 in the same store... I think on that price point the result is different
I put a toy person on mine and it flew like it wasn't there the stabilisation is so good but then again, the props are only sweep it as it's not made to carry things like the mambo does
I bought the Mambo for about € 150 with controller, goggles, camera and pellet cannon. It’s a nice stable drone but it is sloooooooow. Also have 2 Star Wars drones and they’re F1 racers compared to this one.
Actually, you can get it to go fast… Connect the Mambo (using your mobile device app) and go to the settings and put them all to high… Once you do that the Mambo should go a lot faster…
I mean, they are both very good drones… I would say if you are thinking of the Mambo, definitely get the Mambo FPV pack (that comes with the camera)… But for the starter price, the Tello already comes with a good camera and has a more solid flight stability…
Hmmm Interesting, I have a Mambo FPV myself, it came with the camera, goggles and remote, I got it for $149 i think it a nice intrroduction to fpv Racing. I learned quickly its not as easy as it looks hahaha, I wont knock the Tello, but it wasnt what i was looking for at the time. But the Mambo is a very stable drone, that hugs curves with ease. it came with one battery and the flight time is about 7 minutes, i bought additional batteries not from parrot but on Amazon, they are wayyyyy cheaper and work as well as the original
I guess if the Mambo FPV set goes down to around $100, then it would be a solid match for the Tello… The main reason the Tello wins the FPV set is simply because it is $50 cheaper and already includes an HD camera at that price… But if the Mambo FPV set goes down to that price, then certainly it would be maybe just as good (if not better than) the Tello…
Maybe, but i guess its what you are looking for as you said, i was looking for a beginner intro into FPV and when i bought the Mambo, the Tello wasnt even out, so for me, it was a good buy, and is serving the purpose "I" neeeded. But like i wrote, i'm not knocking the Tello but i still probably wouldnt buy it. Does it have an FPV feature through the app?
Yes it does, but you would need to get a set of cellphone goggles to have the full experience. Those can go for around $20...You can probably use the ones that come with the Mambo FPV set...
Great comparison! I have both but not flown either yet as my Tello is a christmas present! I think the Tello will have better stability and flight time and obviously better camera but I think the mambo will be a lot more agile and faster as you can turn off the optical flow etc also the mambo has some cool gadgets to attach such as the fpv camera, grabber and cannon, all adding to the fun! 😎😁 New supporter for your channel, hopefully you'll take a look at my quadcopter related channel and support? 🤝
The Mambo does have a decent camera add-on (with its FPV set), but it’s an extra $50 dollars. I’d like to compare both cameras in the future, but as for the basic $100 sets, the Tello has the better camera out-of-the-box...
Shame Tello only has Bluetooth controls, for fpv racing mambo, for basic cinematic video Tello, although could buy a bugs 3 and a cheap eBay gimbal and capture much better footage
I have both of those.i like the Mambo more because it is a lot more fun to fly.he did not even do the fly test.tello on the other hand is a little bit of boring and slow if compared to mambo.mambo mounted with the accessories is super fun.if you want a good camera drone go for the Mambo for with a lot better camera.
I did do the flight tests… If you look at the description of this video, I linked to the reviews I did for each drone and you will notice that the Tello flies very fast using a Bluetooth controller…
Yes. Once you have the FlyPad for Mambo configured from the mobile app, you can fly the Mambo around with just the FlyPad (which uses bluetooth/2.4ghz). The Tello primarily uses the mobile app (which communicates with the drone's WiFi). Its controller simply uses bluetooth to link with the phone (not the drone).
If it is possible to bind the Parrot SkyController 2 to the Mambo, then that may have a good amount of range… I haven’t tried it, but it may be possible.… Also, I noticed that the range is not too bad with the FlyPad…
@@rx344 this thread inspired me to rob the cam from my bugs 3 mini and mount on the mambo using the 4.2v output of the lego connector on top. With wire leads and lego guy mounted, I now have a cool gaffer/gripman fpv mambo that still flips and maneuvers well. Thanks ....ps...flypad and fpv monitor out, phone in the pocket, but you need all three
The Mambo is indeed an excellent drone (especially the FPV set)… At the time of this video, the main thing that put the Tello over the Mambo was the fact that it included a camera out-of-the-box at a lower price… Things may have changed now, but in any case, both are great drones (and we simply just put a slight edge on one over the other)… That’s all… ;)

$150 at Best Buy buys a Parrot bundled with a controller, FPV top mounted camera, and goggles. Hard to argue with that, but I have no first hand knowledge about it.
Very helpful video. I think I'm back in the Tello camp. the camera, range, and flight time puts it out front.
Yes, the comparison is difficult (as both drones are very good)… It seems like the Mambo does have more accessories available than the Tello… but if buying the basic package, it’s nice that the Tello has a camera out-of-the-box (at a good price)...
I just had my first flight with my new Tello today. It was rather pleasant, although the range could have been better.
Get a WiFi repeater of Amazon for 12 dollars it makes the tello go further
You can actually get the Xiaomi one from Aliexpress for 9 usd, and I’ll also be buying the gamesir controller to go with it
The default height limit on the Tello is 10 m but you can change to to 30 m which is 100 ft
Good that was updated...

Best Buy is clearing the Mambo out (non fpv) for $38. Bluetooth control limits the range of the Mambo greatly though.
James Williams Yep, I just bought one yesterday. It's a Much better build quality than all these other cheap $50 drones I've been buying. IE.... propel brand
Good to know, thanks for the info… Yeah that cheaper price definitely makes it very attractive now…
rx344 I was not aware that the mambo could now connect with the fly pad directly...better range.
Yes better range… You may have to configure the flypad with the drone the first time (using your mobile device or cell phone), but after that you can simply just use the controller…
Great video, we'll be getting the mambo as a kids present. Tello is definitely a more functional and powerfull drone. E.g. a tiny spark.
Yes, thanks :)
Mambo has 2 problems : software that has cancer since december 2017 and props near the camera
its just a fun drone not a proffesional drone

Good points… It is a close comparison and I will admit that the Mambo FPV package is neat…
Unless you want a cheap, portable, QUALITY, drone that takes acually good pictures
Great video, thanks for the comparison!
Sure, anytime! Thanks! ;)
if you want the mambo for accessories you get the fpv set for an extra 50$ it comes with fpv goggles and you get a pretty good camera
Yes, the Mambo FPV set is very cool...
What about the infamous dropped frames on the Tello's video?
Yes that is a bit of an issue, but could be ironed-out in the next firmware update(s) or by flying it close range or with a WiFi repeater...
Turn on airplane mode than connect to the tello. There is a significant difference. I thought it was a troll at first but it came out to be true.
Very informative once again. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 👍👍
Anytime, thanks! :)
I recently just ordered a Tello and I’m really exited

The parrot mambo can take video with fpv camera great video
Yes, but you have to buy the FPV pack (which is a lot more expensive than just the Tello)…
I have the Tello and I love it
I'll take the tello over the Mambo..the camera and longer fly time plus with the different fly modes is definitely a winner..
Exactly
You can’t put too much on the TELLO because the sweep of the props covers most of the top.
Good point… ;)
