Steve Francis was dope. He was one of my faves of that era. Because he had Yao and Mobley, he didn't put up the eye catching numbers that other guards did. Francis to me is better than any guard in this era not named Curry or Chris Paul.
@@truthis612 He is a legend, he just didn't put up legendary numbers. But his skillset is legendary. He's still talked about because of that reason. If he had been on a bad team he would've been way more popular, because he would've had the ultimate green light and gotten crazy stats.

Steve - I hope you’re doing well wherever you are. Just want to let you know that growing up in Houston in 2000s and watching you carry Rockets was one of the best and fondest memories that I will carry with me forever. You inspired a generation of us to get on the court and hoop, make friends, talk about Rockets and so much more. Truly sorry to hear about your Demons and I hope you’re living a positive life. We will always remember you in highest regards. Thank you for everything!
Franchise was a big part of the shift from the loss of MJ, to rebuilding the NBA to the showtime, playground entertainment motif that followed. Don’t get it messed up though, dude was a solid top 10-15 hooper in the world. And him telling his story now…just as inspiring as his hoop days. Respect.
True streetball legend at EBC Rucker park and a real pleasure to watch in the NBA. Spectacular, athletic and so skilled broooo. We miss you Stevie, you're still the boss 🙏🙏🙏
That was enough in that 4 min clip to understand what he had to deal with . I am proud he overcame it and is able to publicly reflect on it and define it.
Salute Steve Francis you are stronger now more than ever! Thank you for sharing your story! Empowering others through your story! May God Bless you young blood! 💯
Salute to you Steve! As a native of Houston, I must say that you put on for the city. I've also dealt with alcohol and depression and come out on the other side. Thanks for sharing. Your testimony will bless others. 🙌 💪🏽
We used to shoot around at San Jac back in the day. Steve was a good dude then and I genuinely hope he keeps his head in the right place. My man helped more folks then he'll ever know.
I never understood Steve Francis decline. He went from superstar to dnps. Still a great career. If he had great people around him he would have realized that he lived the dream and would have been on the up and up. It's important to surround yourself with solid people and not just hangers on.
@@Ilnatica you're 💯 right. he called it suppression but he was running from himself and his losses so he surrounded himself with people that allowed him to do.
I hear you loud & clear Steve Francis --- I hear you my Brother.. What a blessing to know you're moving in the right direction with your life! One day at a time.. Indeed, Both fame & fortune are highly over-rated; but most people don't understand or recognise the pitfalls because NEARLY EVERYTHING to them IS VISUAL.. Big house, fancy cars, designer clothes, super expensive jewelry, corporate endorsements, T.V. appearances, magazine covers, etc.. All visual things.. No regard whatsoever for what's possibly lurking INSIDE the mind & body.. Folks rarely take the time to think (or consider) how someone actually FEELS from day to day when dealing with huge professional & personal responsibilities.. Wishing you peace, good health, and spiritual prosperity as you continue your journey through life Mr. Francis.. Thank you for sharing your story.. Very enlightening and very, very inspiring..
I'm glad he got help, he was my childhood hero growing up. Had posters, had his shoes, his jersey. I was the only rockets fan living in cali, wore his jersey with pride at school. Miss watching him play
One of the few sites I check out often. Always dope to hear experiences, stories, triumphs and tribulations straight from the players perspective. No skewing, No click baiting. Appreciate it.
I was sitting right in front of him in Brooklyn eating brunch when him and the creators of this were talking about this! I took pictures with him right before he left! HUMBLE GUY‼️‼️‼️
I played against this dude at ‘Run n Shoot’ in ATL back in I wanna say like 99’ and what he did on the court was Unbelievable!!! Niccahs was like 😳 lol I did drop like 3 points and I was proud 😌He dropped like 10+ each game and I don’t remember him missing a shot. Dunked like 8x per game. Much love… 🙏🏽
My boy Steve Francis was a problem in his prime, very entertaining and fun to watch.Glade to see him opening up about his struggles through out his life and that he’s able to tell us himself.A lot of people are not that strong💯✊🏾
Man, this guy's a legend to me. Aside from wanting to play like Iverson, I also wanted to play like Steve Francis. Wish you the best in life, champ! Bless up! Your fan from 🇵🇭
Being 2 years and 9 months sober from alcohol i can relate to his story. It took rehab and going through the 12 steps to help get me through. But its one day at a time. Hopefully he can stay on this road and don't pick up. Very inspirational!
as a black, man, a fan of Steve, and advocate for mental health care this is so impactful to see and hear. We commend you Mr. Francis and appreciate whomever at TPT who put this together!
This is great to see. Steve looks like he's in a healthier place physically and mentally. I was starting to think he was lost for good. Again, great to see.
Francis is Deff one of the PG's that I've always been a huge fan of and I always wanted to model my game after him and Baron Davis. Not that we are suppose to know but we don't know what people go through outside of there profession and he clearly had a lot going on in his NBA career that his career didn't continue which I hate because I know he should be a way better position now. I'm not excusing him for whatever bad choices he made but we do need to take in that if people randomly do something bad there is possibly a reason behind it
He was so nice. Primetime talent💯💪🏾…. A knee injury, Death in the Family, divorce and meniere's disease. Left my Guy broken. when his past caught up to him it finished him. Him, Baron Davis and Marbury ushered in the athletic combo pg's. Dudes that could bang on you, shoot from the perimeter and drop dimes.
