Both free mods you got here are really really good! If I had to buy one of the two options, i'd have to go to the endurance pack. There are already lots of modern GT3 cars out there, AC, ACC, Race Room and pretty dump trucks disguised as gt3 PC2... So endurance!
I always struggle to understand why $20-25 is a "hefty" price tag for something that simulates a real group of cars. Honestly, with the amount of money people spend on beer, cigarettes, coffee, subscriptions, etc I see sim content to be good value. It's our hobby, and if we continue to judge our hobby on spending fuck all on good content we will end up with no content or shit content that is price driven. I say....what do we need to pay to get the best content we can?!!! And lets do it!
Can't recommend rF2 GT3 packs in good conscience. Merc FFB is broken, Porsche interior incomplete, and the newer cars only have one default skin. It's incomplete at best. The endurance pack from rf2 is great though.
Srry, but the Merche have the best FFB of all. Soft in running and strong in bumps. Before the last cars update, the major cars had the same kind of FFB, but now only have it the Mercedes. The best car for me right now and i hope they don´t touch it.
I've always said that each simulator shines in an specific department, and one of the stronger points to rfactor 2 for me are its very competitive AI and its really good day-night cicle with the possibility of rain. So taking that i'd recommend Endurance Pack, because it suits one of the better points on rfactor 2. For GT3 racing you can have very good experiences also in AC, Raceroom etc, but none of them can offer a multi class offline endurance race like rfactor 2
Excellent subject and video. Personally I have chosen to "cherry pick" my preferred cars from the official rF2 packs. As well as adding the excellent free mods from EnduRacers & Apex Modding. In my opinion, rF2 is now a wonderful Race Sim. Just needs the new UI to make it complete.
Such luck, rFactor 2 is currently discounted and the packs are too. I was debating what I should get, I did one google and found this video, it was exactly what I was looking for and I was already subscribed (since a later date than this video). So thank you!
I once thought the Enduracers and the Apex Mod were good. But in my opinion the S397 Packs are on another level. You get what you pay for at the end of the day and it's definitely worth every penny. Much better than what ACC is offering right now. ACC is purely eye candy at best but physic's wise it just doesn't feel natural. Not yet anyway. I'm hoping ACC get their FFB and tire model somewhat close to the level of rf2 then they're onto a winner and ill be a happy man. Great advice anyway. Love your videos!
Mike, the quality of your videos (both graphically and content-wise) are always first rate. I see that you list your PC's Specs, but it might be helpful to do a video on the graphical settings you use in your favorite sims (especially with VR)? I ask because I'm considering upgrading some of my PC hardware to about where you are because right now I'm not even close to what you get graphically.
I've had this game since it came out. Back then I was playing on a gamepad. I now have a semi-decent T300 setup and I have most of the sims. I love rF2 whilst driving the older stuff, so that's the Brabham BT 20 1966 cars. These are worth the price of the sim anyways, along with the Eve 1968 cars you have the best late 60's sim cars, along with the best FFB and physics available today. This is the era I enjoy so I don't know about the recent stuff. The 50's endurance pack on the Steam workshop is also worthy of your time and a free install. Although not the easiest sim to get running, or the best looking it is however the greatest when it comes to FFB and physics, which should be what matters when it comes to sim racing IMHO.
Great overview! I really like the viewpoint you took in this video. "supplementing" the dlc with free content to get the most out of the game as a consumer is a great idea. Going to buy the endurance pack on your recommendation now
Great video! Thank you. Your videos / reviews have been one of the main reasons me and my two buddies have jumped into rF2! Being a new guy ;) I'm stuck. I bought the Endurance pack, and married it with the APEX GT3 pack...beautiful cars and I'm loving the feel of rF2....BUT, need help, the APEX gt3 cars are OUT Qualifying the official GTE cars from the Endurance pack. Any advice on what I'm missing here? or how to adjust the BOP on the Apex cars?? Thanks again!
Great vid! I totally agree with u and wonder "why a punch of cars should cost more than all the work the developers do for the sim itself including all its original cars and tracks?" I am on tight budget, bought all paid S397 content, but never needed to drive more than 1 car and track of them. Who knows, they might release the next year Formula E for example and then it bes too late to find any league with the content I bought. So my advice for people like me: buy when you need. But on the other hand, for many people this money is peanuts and my advice for them: I think it is useful to support the great hard work those guys are doing by improving and pushing the boundries of sim racing future.
Btw, I descripe the Radical as "the skilled driver car". You like it. That says something 😉. Since I am much slower than the others I was forced to chose the car that is fastest and easiest to drive. It is sad to be forced not to chose the car you like. Maybe you can talk about this in a future video? Do u chose the fastest car in the league, the easiest to drive or the car you really like?
I have one! Someone released a 919 to RaceDepartment last year and pulled it down in about a day. I snagged it while I could. I looks mostly like rubbish, but it drives quite well.
Hi! Sir ! Are there a lot of servers rfactor2 ? Are there servers for weekend drivers? I am thinking about such servers that I can quickly join and play for fun?
Hey Mike, I'm having an absolute ball - slowly going thru your "rFactor 2 Playlist Archive Video's" - but one thing has always totally stumped me. And that's because when I am in Steam, it feels like a self contained, er, um container. Meaning I have never been able to figure out how you save a "Steam Link to ABC Sim/Game/FPS --- when it appears like Steam itself doesn't offer you one. So what am I missing please, Mr SimRacing604?
Sorry Mike, I always manage to find the "confusing way" to ask things. So say for example I did a rFactor 2 GT3 video - you were able to put the link to the GT3 DLC PACK under your own video description. But when I'm in Steam itself, it is not in any sort of browser (hence, self contained). So how or where do you get that link from --- if you want to send people to a particular Steam DLC or GAME please?
Great video Mike. I have heard a few people say that the challengers pack are the best cars overall in sim racing at this point. I love GTE though so it's a tough one. I do wish they had released the Ford GT!

The CORVETTE C7.R is a good place to start. Also agree you can't go wrong purchasing any of it. I think a lot of people will be putting off purchasing with ACC on the horizon. We still don't know how ACC will turn out though and until then rFactor 2 remains the best GT3 experience.

I've bought every three packs (plus the "two strong pack") and I am very happy with them. I also got the free Apex GT3 Mod, but you can not mix them with the official content: The free GT3 cars are a bit faster and will outrun the others by 4 to 6 seconds each lap.
I'm running into this problem. Bought Endurance pack, paired it with APEX GT3...except the Apex cars out qualify the official GTE cars! :) Does anyone know a way (somewhat simple) to BOP / adjust down the performance of the Apex pack??? Thanks for any help

I only just realized yesterday after buying AMS, RF2 is the best sim ever made. AMS was the last one on my list of unplayed sims. I’ve put over 500 hours the last year playing AC,R3E,iRacing,PC2, and now AMS in VR and on a single screen. The AI is extremely human like, so many mod tracks and plenty of mod cars, it looks great even though it is old, the FFB, tire model, and physics are the best of all of them, and being able to do multi class races, with day/night cycle, and rain is a massive bonus. I absolutely love all of the content S397 has put out(haven’t tried formula E). The new pack is based around the new shaders which aren't ready yet. When they are, new liveries and templates.
