MSE Split My Suture in 3 Days!

  • Had MSE installed 10 days ago along with a corticotomy to weaken the suture, all performed by Dr. Newaz. After taking 4 days off to recover from the install, I turned 6-7 times per day for 3 days and my suture split at around turn 21.
    This is a big win. I’m pumped. Huge improvement in nasal breathing and sense of oral volume already.
    In the video I said MSE is screwed into mid palatal suture. I mean to say it is screwed into the maxilla on either side of the suture.

    This is impressive. Good job. Personally I’ll stick to my thumb pulling and mewing method but Jesus if that’s not good result
    Also I’m really excited to see this. The fact you got it to spilt open in only 3 days really tells me that it’s even more possible to get changes as an adult.
    Does this have risks as breaking your maxilla ?

    • @JawHacks
      @JawHacks  5 лет назад +33

      Hey AS thanks for popping in. Yeah, crazy results.
      I couldn't believe how much force it took to actually split the suture, even after the corticotomy, so I don't think I would have ever been able to achieve that kind of opening without the appliance...
      although some people say they do, and I believe them. Perhaps they are more dedicated with their Mewing than I am.
      As for risks...IMO it is always risky to put your body through the kind of stress posed by MSE. That first week was really tough. Like, I kind of understated how tough it was. I took great measures to manage the stress of it all...I'll do a separate video on that at some point.
      Barring a full-body freakout (which DID happen with me in the first several days after install and aggressive turning), I can't think of any side effects.
      Hope you stop by my vids more often. ✌🏼

      @Raymond Johnson, I split my midpalatal suture as well via mewing with added force. I developed a tiny gap and this gap was quite fluid. It could sometimes be almost closed in the morning (after obviously not being able to put any pressure against the roof of the mouth during night). The midpalatal suture seemed to be active for about 6-8 months, after which it went back to being almost closed permanently even though I kept doing the same thing. During this 6-8 month period I saw significant widening of my upper palate, but also some minor forwards expansion. The gap never got larger than about 2 mm, but overall I believe I expanded the width of my upper arch with at least about 5-7 mm.
      After this I saw continued change, but not really any more widening. in total I noticed changes for about 1,5 years. I started about 2 years ago at the age of 30. Among other things my breathing and my sleep have improved significantly. I now sleep with a closed mouth breathing through my nose without any issues at all.

      Excellent observation Dude420. You are correct in where there is a possibility that a disproportion can be created if the orthodontist is not carefully observing the case with the patient to avoid this unwanted effect.
      Usually, if your teeth situated on the mandibular arch are pointing lingually (inwards) then they can use braces to upright them to match the new maxillary arch formation created by MSE.

    Hi Ronald, I've been following you for a couple of years now.. Curious, why did you have an MSE Installation now ? I know you had the AGGA Appliance then braces? Didn't that fix all your problems? Why are you still doing more palate expansion.. I want to know if the AGGA appliance works and is good enough for most people.. I might have to do it one day to expand and widen my arches.

    • @JawHacks
      @JawHacks  5 лет назад +5

      AGGA is okay for moderate amounts of forward expansion, which does increase oral volume, helps move the mandible forward, and can eliminate TMD.
      But MSE has way more balls that AGGA in terms of its ability to create bonafide skeletal expansion.
      It all depends on what you are going for. Everyone has different goals. AGGA may be good enough for yours.
      For detailed explanation of why I am doing MSE please visit my blog www.ronaldead.com and read all the MSE posts.
      Basically: fix crossbite, increase nasal airway volume, increase oral volume.
