  • New territory for me, an outside-horn machine! This is a pseudo-Talk-o-Phone rear-mount phonograph from the early 1900s. Talk-o-Phones were made by Columbia at a time when they were undergoing legal disputes with Victor so that they could still be making machines. Ironically, the phonograph's motor has been replaced with a Victor assembly some time after it was built. The tune, "Toddlin' Blues," was recorded by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in 1923 on Okeh after their relatively long stint with Victor. Again, irony abounds!
