Oil leaks are a pain in the ass! Had one on my SONEX that we just couldn't find. Finally located it. A cracked engine block. Had to rebuild the whole thing. Fixed it and sold it. No more planes for me. Now I just watch videos!
Hey, I have a friend who had one of those, and I got to fly it before he sold it. It's kind of a cross between a large ultralight and a lightsport. This one had a bit of a stiff control stick, but otherwise flew and handled just fine. It had the Jab 2200 also.
You can actually see some smoke under the aircraft in the last part of the video. Good call on putting it down. Looks like it will be a great addition to the fleet.
looks like matts maiden flight he forgot to remove the safety pin for the parachute...LOL we still love ya Matt, a great pilot and best UL aircraft channel on you tube. Vicki is cool too!
LOL, thanks, and yes she is. :-) Not removing the pin for the first flights was intentional as there was no plan to fly higher than 500 feet AGL and the parachute isn't effective that low. With Brent, I would have climbed up to 1500 feet AGL (where the parachute would have been effective had it been needed) had the oil not started leaking.
Great video and look forward to watching future ones . I own an Xair Hawk short wing model here in the U.K. powered by the 85hp jab engine and love it . 👍
Matt, do you feel funny with doors on that new rig? And I saw in the video what looked like smoke coming out from the bottom from about where you were sitting. Nice piece of machinery though! 😎👍
The bubble doors are really nice. It "almost" feels like no doors at all... but not quite. :-P We're still nailing down that oil leak but once we do, it should be a ton of fun to fly.
Ha-nu-maan ......not hanu-mun !!😃 What a weird feeling ... I had actually seen the development of this aircraft ... by Joel Koechlin here in India. He had just named it then and I had just walked intot the Raj Hamsa Ultrlights factory .... the Wings were still being worked on prototype one. Never seen X-Air or Hanuman videos on YT ...first time ever ...strange indeed
@@mmatt Pronunciation of Hanuman is simplest broken into 3 parts: Ha - as in Huh, what?, or in the alternate, like Ha from Han Solo; emphasis on this 1st syllable, Nu - just like the word new Man - sounds like bahn in autobahn. (at least that's how I learned in hindi class as a kid) Haven't had a chance to look through the whole channel yet, but was hoping to see if there's more vids of how you acquired and renovated/rebuilt the aircraft. Curious how you sourced or updated the fabric and got the doors built etc. Had a chance to buy one a couple of years ago but wasn't sure how to store it so I passed and kinda regret it. Looking at the website for the maker in India and its pretty dated - site looks like the 1990s interweb and last updated in 2014. Wonder if they are even around.

Beautiful plane! Love the colours. Enjoyed the video and congrats! Typed a longer message but RUclips removed it...was about some recommendations for safety using Telegram instead of Messenger / WhatsApp. Lives saved as a result.
We have a fabric tester, yes. As this is brand new fabric, it tests to well beyond the safe limit. The old stuff the we replaced could be easily poked through with just a finger. It was terrible.
Hi I run a Newton two blade wooden prop 60x40 here on my jab 2200 powered hawk . Max static rpm tested was 2950rpm which gives 3100rpm max in the air . Cruise rpm is 2600rpm with 90mph ias Fast cruise is 2900rpm at 105 mph ias Economy is 2400rpm at 75-80mph indicated .
That is one heck of a sharp little plane. I love it.
Love the echo of the prop on the crow hops. 👍

I've thought it would be fun to do ham radio stuff from the air. Nice little plane. Thanks.
Beautiful aircraft. Nice to see it back in the air.
Now THAT'S...a good lookin' lil aircraft! Seems like it has good STOL as well.
Impressive rebuild.
Cool little light sports plane.
Those Jabiru 's certainly have a unique sound
What a cool airplane... and then you said the "J" word. Good luck with that Jabiru engine.
Why have you had bad experiences with them?
The Australian regulator (CASA) really went for Jabiru a few years back.
Google it!

Outstanding!
Nice little Bird.
The crow hops are so smooth. mmatt your the best.10/17/2022yr
Hi mat the back movement of the rear landing gear on touchdown seems a bit violent , have a look at the footage, cheers
Hmm... on the jabiru company website it is stated that 3 blades props is not recommedef for Jabiru engine - only 2 blades.
Great video and look forward to watching future ones .

What do you run for a prop and what RPM do you get on take off and in cruise? We're looking for a baseline to compare to.
HI ! very nice job ! I've just buy the same plane and i'm restoring it. How did you make these beautyfull's doors ?
Fun stuff! Sweet little plane.
the factory was in bengalore India now closed however if you know where they are made and where is Joel guru.
Looks similar to a piper tripacer. Is this still considered a ultralight?
"Let'er rip"! Awesome!

Hi! Can you show the cargo/fuel tank area? Curious what it looks like back there
I'll try to remember that for the next video but there's a BRS parachute on board which takes up almost all of the cargo area.
What are two sets of controls , center and left not the recovery shut ? Your friend James
Trim and flaps
Nice to not have to wear an helmet eh in this hot weather? Good luck with the Jab........Cute little adv airplane!

Do y'all use that old way of testing the fabric....the tool with the spring, can't remember the proper name, or don't you need to ?

Sounds like a real airplane in comparison to my Xair standard with a rotor 582.
Holy Jesus that was only like a 100ft or so takeoff
