The parrying isn't done well mostly because of the delay of entering block / parry stance, especially between blocks - it's too slow. It should be instantaneous with almost no gap between blocking attempts. In the current state if you miss a parry either from melee or blasters, it's hard to manage a parry on the next attack if a subsequent attack is incoming. What threw me personally off initially is the fact that in other games (GOW, W3, For Honor, Bloordbore/DS), parrying or countering is performed just before or at the exact time the enemy's attack is about to hit you. In Jedi Fallen Order, you can perform the parry quite a bit before the attack lands and that parry window reduces as you increase the difficulty. Because I'm used to parrying on hit, I was struggling to get it right on Jedi Master difficulty because I'd typically parry too late and would block instead. I actually find it more intuitive to parry on Jedi grandmaster difficulty as it's done later into an enemy's animation. The fact that you can change the parry window via difficulty setting is good for players but I still find parry timings inconsistent across various types of enemies which makes combat a bit wonky at times. What's definitely needed in this game is an indicator warning you of ranged shots - something that GOW and Spider-Man got right. Without it, it's insanely hard to fight a mixed group of enemies some of whom are rushing you with melee and other shooting at you. This is especially true on the highest difficulty setting. You are a Jedi after all so you should be able to 'sense' incoming projectiles.
couldn't say it better dude, I played sekiro and I like that parry system so much!!!!! Jedi fallen order takes inspiration from that but the delay parry stance really fuck up the flow. That results in you can't consistently parry the enemy like what in sekiro. In Jedigrandmaster, dodging is more of the thing because of that (fucking purge trooper with the double stun)
@@simonwang4530 It's intentional. The developer wanted you to react to the hit, rather than just spam block to try and cheese a parry. I appreciate the mechanic, but unfortunately, it means that if you miss time the first parry, you're better off dodging or even rolling out of the combo chains, especially against purge troopers and opponents with lightsabers who have very fast follow up attacks. What I would personally love is a difficulty between Master and Grandmaster, that keeps the enemy aggression and parry window from Grandmaster, but is slightly more forgiving in terms of incoming damage. That way, there would be the same margin of error, but you'd be punished less severely for your mistakes, which would help you practice without dying to weaker mobs in 3 or 4 hits.
For some reason this guy’s womderful accent to his English makes his advice 10x more authentic. Like maybe he’s even wielded a lightsaber irl. Thanks bud- vid helped 100%!
For parrying blasters, just parry the first bolt and then block the rest. Rinse and repeat. You can also parry AT-ST shots back at it, dealing decent damage.
Also works for monsters, try to parry the first attack, if you end up blocking, not parrying, keep holding the block button until either just before the blocking gauge empties or the monster finishes the attack sequence
Or just get the double saber. You can either run through or take your time on Dathomir. Practice and patience makes that possible but still rather difficult.
I do agree that the parry system needs some tweaking however I'm not sure what it exactly needs but I just feel that something is off something that really needs some fixing is the camera. It can be very difficult to be in a fight and see exactly the proximity of the enemies and I found a couple times where I had to really fight with the camera

Thanks. This guide is really comprehensive. Unless your framerate is consistent or you're confident, don't try to parry. FPS drops are sadly common for this game which is a big problem for a timing-based game.
I can relate however, I noticed a big improvement in my timing and stopped dying every other battle by completing a mission on the Jedi Master difficulty, then bumping it back up.

Being the first game I think the combat system is pretty good and hopefully as time goes on they can patch it to make it even better but the one thing that does bug me about the fights against big monsters especially the ones that jump at you is that sometimes they'll jump at you and you will Dodge them and the animal Glides in the air and follows you while you're dodging and they're already in the middle of jumping they just automatically correct and change course to hit you, hopefully that can be fixed with a patch cuz it's annoying LOL they jump at you and you jump out of the way and they magically change course in mid-air to hit you. It can be a pain sometimes LOL
For parry, the animation has a cooldown effect, so you have to block after triggering a parry if there are multiple blasters coming at you. If you want to deflect multiple shots, use the double lightsaber stance as it would chain multiple deflections. Lightsaber stance has a immediate parry and shift to block or cancel. Double Lightsaber has a immediate and then continuous parry for about 1-2 seconds extra seconds after the 1st parry is done (ONLY if you successfully parry the 1st shot). It might also parry infinitely so long as blasters keeps flying at you without your deflection stopping (so you don't stop moving the weapon).

Finally a great guide. I’ve been having trouble parrying, but honestly, I’ll just do what you said and attack twice then return to defence. The game is too clunky for parry.
I think it's mostly because of the small parry window on higher difficulties, I played through the opening on Jedi Knight and parrying wasn't too hard, and I'm not amazing at this sort of game, hence lower difficulty.

And delay thrust might not work if the boss or enemy deflects the 1st hit you try to land on them, meaning for those enemies you gotta evade or block first and then strike them during their down animation on a attack. Usually a good idea to build up force to do heavy attacks to break their guard faster in this case, they will definitely deflect the 2nd or 3rd attacks if it's normal, but heavy attacks seems to always force them to block.
A tip for fighting Zotars: NEVER try to dodge their big boot attack to the left, you will get hit every time. Always dodge this attack to the right. (YOUR left and right not theirs)

I don’t think the charge attacks are badly designed. I think they designed it that way to keep you on your toes. The fact of the matter is, charge attacks are super easy to avoid, so long as you aren’t rolling away on reaction to every time the enemy moves a muscle. I did have some bullshit moments when I dodged at the right time and got hit anyways, but it only happened like, three times in my first playthrough.
Very good tips and strategies. Look forward to other games with strategy guides. Your Nioh tips were useful as well. Consider making Dragon Ball Z Kakarot and The Avengers game tips when those games are released.
Just started playing this on jedi master and it's so hard for me, I died 9 times to that monster after leaving the temple on Bogano and I'm having a hard time at Dathomir. Right now I'm considering lowering the difficulty.
Would you say Sekiro is harder or easier? I been wanting to try Sekiro but i saw some streamers struggle w some boses for 2-3 hours (maybe more) and thats not my idea of fun.
The spiders are the easiest enemies in the whole game. Just parry the attack where they rear back and it's a QTE single button finisher. You just one shot them, it's amazing. 3 at once is still rough, but I just kept my distance and waited for good openings to attack.
A few things I want to add. -Any chance you get to do a surprise fall attack, take it. (Mostly on the giant monsters or annoying stormtroopers). -surprise rush attack kill weak enemies to lower their numbers then fall back to deal with the rest. -Deal with enemies one on one whenever possible. -Use the landscape to your advantage.

You know that tips will be great when you hear russian accent Edit: "Parrying is on you and how confident you are" Me a player playing on jedi grandmaster difficulty:
Agreed, on GM difficulty parrying is rarely worth it from what I've seen so far. It is high risk because the window is very small and the time it takes from you hitting the button until the animation is done and you actually parry is too long to use it precisely... And the reward for a successful parry is just ~1-2 hits. No extra dmg or anything. Block&Dodge and getting hits in between is the safe way to go imho.
Lol. How to dominate, play on Easy. -- The settings show that when you move up levels reaction time is reduced. That spider was a bitch for me because 1 red hit was a kill strike, and reaction time was small.
If its an animal it should be a 1 hit kill unless it's massive like the yeti or wompa in wich case it should be 2 hits as they have no armour and considering lighsabers can cut through doors that can survive a nuke they should be able to cut through flesh no matter how thick with ease and no effort or at least give us the option to one hit kill to feel like a dark sider bad ass
Me, who is a guy that has play all dark souls saga, even bloodborne and demon souls, for about 500 hours each. Mastering this game wasn’t that difficult. I started in master difficulty, and pretty quick changed to grand master because it was getting to easy, of course some times I was getting destroyed, but with more time into it, i was catching the trick. All about this games is patience and practicing the timings, nothing more.
It's the damn monsters that double unblockable attack you in a corner. Ruins the game for me at times. But then I keep forgetting to double tap Dodge and push jump instead. I learned to use jump instead of Dodge early on and when I learned about double Dodge to roll it was too late! I can't unlearn it!

To be honest, I like how this game requires you to be patient to master it. It’s really like you have to be a Jedi to master it, almost.
I started playing it recently and I can't unsee the monsters locking on me as if they were on a microwave plate.
Appreciate the tips, especially on the monsters! Thanks!
The animation for this game is so smooth, too bad the frame rate is unstable in console
Very good tips and strategies. Look forward to other games with strategy guides. Your Nioh tips were useful as well.
Consider making Dragon Ball Z Kakarot and The Avengers game tips when those games are released.
Great help!! Top tips , cheers mate 👍👍
Great advice. Thanks for uploading this.
Best way to beat bad guys on bridges and ledges... force push
Would love to see Bounty Hunter battle tips
Just started playing this on jedi master and it's so hard for me, I died 9 times to that monster after leaving the temple on Bogano and I'm having a hard time at Dathomir. Right now I'm considering lowering the difficulty.
Thanks man. I've been struggling with this game since coming from sekiro
Would you say Sekiro is harder or easier? I been wanting to try Sekiro but i saw some streamers struggle w some boses for 2-3 hours (maybe more) and thats not my idea of fun.
@@dplaya746 way harder,
Sekiro is harder, no doubt
Sekiro is easier imo
Jesus himself You think so because you haven’t played sekiro.
Great guide, thanks.
all of this strategies are null when you reach kashyyk in grand master and need to fight 3 spiders at the same time..... :p
The spiders are the easiest enemies in the whole game. Just parry the attack where they rear back and it's a QTE single button finisher. You just one shot them, it's amazing. 3 at once is still rough, but I just kept my distance and waited for good openings to attack.
@@RuffioLostBoy I did the same thing and the area where there are 3 spiders I used that area to farm. I got so much exp that way and it was easy
For some reason. I find the bigger enemies easier to battle than the smaller ones.
@@evanderlugops those fucking scaaze dude, they are the bane of existences when they are in groups
I love the accent. I will subscribe 100%
I can parry any blaster shot but Not the staffs.
Thanks dude👍🏾
I played the game in jedi master difficulty. You can kill lesser nydaks and spiders (large ones but not albino spider) instantly.
Great video thanks
I really, really loathe security droids cause they're bloody tanky and I always get "hugged" because I'm impatient. Basically everything is down in at most 4 or 5 strikes except for those droids.
Damn this guy talks like the nightsister Merrin
It's because he's also Russian, like the voice actress of Merrin.
Its called ninth sister not night sister
@@pemil8470 No the Ninth Sister is the big inquisitor you fight on Kashyyyk. The Night Sister is Merrin on Dathomir. You'd think they would have realized the potential confusion and made the Inquisitor the Eighth sister or something.
You know that tips will be great when you hear russian accent
Edit:
"Parrying is on you and how confident you are"
Me a player playing on jedi grandmaster difficulty:
5:36 Delay Thrust - thank you!
Nice tips buddy. Cheers !
My autism is the only reason why I persist with this game's bargain sale parrying.
Very helpful thank you
Try to push as many things off the map and take out the ranged enemies first
Great video, love the accent ! Keep it up :)
Thank you so much for this!!!
Thank you!
This game is fun, but the parrying is just not as responsive as in Sekiro or even Dark Souls.
Yeah and because of that I fucking hate it so goddamn much it's just mostly unreliable.
This was done intentionally to prevent parry spammers
i still enjoy using force push over slowing down.
One thing i noticed with the game is you cant parry a bunch of times in quick succession.
funny that the game says those big humanoid droids are highly susceptible to parry's but it seems like the worst tactic to take them down.
I’ve been trying to grind masters difficulty, and this will definitely help me
Good stuff thx man!
I am enjoying the game, but the combat system is frustrating in places especially when you have multiple enemies and enemy types to content with. Im only playing through on normal, I know my limits, but I find parrying in this game really hard to do. Most of my parry's are luck, pure and simple. The optional Bounty hunter fights kick my ass totally too.
Thanks man
