That is a really interesting video, thanks for taking so much trouble. I have been trying everywhere to find the dimensions of the original and up grade batteries. All my questions solved with one video. I like the idea of the camera and light inside the engine bay to check the height, very clever.

Thomas I am glad RUclips sent me your video; I appreciate the quality of your video and its clarity. I have a '74 2.0 with Webbers and recently put a new stainless steel tuned exhaust on it; It's not too loud and sounds healthy. I love to drive my car. It lots of torque.
Winter 2022 was reworking the car at a friends in Tehachapi. It was a challenge to find a battery that fit. And a clip to secure it.. Like you I want better. I love driving my car everywhere: freeway road trips, in the city and mountain roads that are sometimes quite bumpy. Day or night, rain or shine. Summer and winter. My suspension is upgraded and run some sticky Japanese tires. It has 4-lug aluminum wheels. Really like the look of the Fuchs on your car. Some day have wheels like your on my car. Happy Holidays. I look forward to seeing your videos in 2024.

I use an Odyssey PC 680 on '75 914 2.0 . I bought it because it only weighs 15 pounds . Since I have the stock motor ( with flattened cylinder heads) I try to reduce the total weight as much as possible. So no radio, no speakers, a lightweight fire extinguisher, I also reduced the weight of the bumpers, etc. I have the battery for two years now and the car starts up every time for the first time. Last night the car stayed outside under wet conditions and 9°C. No problem this morning. And I drive only once and a while.

Thomas, those 5 lug Fuchs wheels really make your car. Thank you for sharing your endeavors finding a better battery for the 914!

There are some minor mods required. A little grinding and some hole drilling.
