Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I ruclips.net/user/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

Is there such a thing as a smartphone-connected damper so that I don't have to go up into my attic? Also, I'd want one that I can close down partway - not a completely open/closed, in other words, so that I can slow down the air to my upstairs/downstairs depending on the season.

This video says that the damper has 3 dimensions, but all are listed and described by only 2, ZD8X12TZ for instance is 8"X12". You'd assume that they would correspond to what the video lists as dimensions 1 and 3. Why would you really even need to know dimension 2, as it doesn't correlate to the duct size? This part of the video makes it confusing when trying to determine the correct size required.

Do you hook up the thermostat to the zone board and the air handler?

Assuming you're using a hard-wired (not wireless) thermostats, you would need to run thermostat wire from wherever the actual thermostat is at to the zone panel, then wire it as required by your hvac system

I was quoted a price of $800 to $900 to replace my damper. Is he trying to overcharge me? Also, how do I know if it's a problem with my thermostat...it's 15 years old.

Sounds high to me. I was quoted about $400....but I ended up ordering this damper only for $100 and replacing it myself. It was pretty simple to install only took about 15min.
