Reminder! I'm heading to Europe for a Baldurs Gate 3 event this week so it'll be Aliens content every day until I'm back then I'll get back to adding Darkest Dungeon 2. You guys watching this BG3 fans as well? I did some coverage of the first early access release, I can only imnagine how good it is now. Likely something Luckless Lovelocks and I will tackle together. Should be good fun,
I'm interested in watching BG3. I was burned on BG1 back in the day because I thought it was far too difficult for me, but BG3 looks really good and I would to watch a playthrough here instead of/in addition to play myself.
Marine: "Commander, we appear to be surrounded in all sides by Aliens in vents. Recommend we wait 10-15seconds before exiting the room" Odd: *Heavy breathing* Marine: "You're gonna click on us to run through the Alien vent area aren't you? Odd: *Heavy breathing intensifies* Loving the playthrough btw. Keep it up!
I hated how they tried to force to put the sentrys in crappy positions. I picked them back up and moved them in better positions. Edit: also, I don't know if you noticed but if you go in safe room and weld it when hunt is ongoing it will actually interrupt it, thus stopping also the agro increasing. So instead of setting up defense you should run to one of those if close and seal it if possible.
You'd think after the first time, people would understand that you have to place sentry guns where they can protect each other. About locking yourself in a saferoom, I have seen aliens break through a welded door if they know you are in there.
"It's too far." when everything is still chill and only several Xeno patrols. Activates Defense Phase, and then exploring nooks and crannies when they start popping from vents more frequently. And then, "They're so far."
@@Gunnl Yeah, I mean they had one direction to come from and rather than holding that position so the aliens have to funnel in in one direction he does a tactical blunder and instead goes to an area where the aliens have multiple places to come at you from and have a better chance of overwhelming you.
Pretty smart. It might be even better than a sniper when you have to sneak around in short corridors and tight spaces. Since you can put down the mine while not in sight, but for the snipe you need to be visible. But definietly good use of command points when its full. You can defend your rear and dont need to pick it up later.
Yeah, I mine in front of every alien spawn point. Just one or two, Makes you smile when you get the "something just triggered one of our mines" message.. also they don't break when you leave the level.
9:23 This case contains 3 sentry guns and doesn't become available until the mission objective where you have to deploy 3 sentry guns. This is Tindalos's way of avoiding g a soft lock, even if you brought 0 sentries (or every sentry you have was broken), you can still finish this mission.
I love the sniper for just one shoting a xeno while focusing on another one. But for stealth i like using the mine drone combo. Drop a mine, get out of sight, make laserbeak i mean the drone make noise by the mine, boom one dead patrolling xeno. You can also place one infront of a door that one of the red triangles are in so that when it spawns a xeno it immediately dies and so your safe from that spawn point for a while. Mines are love, mines are life (and the death of xenos)
The first vid of the series i found myself yelling at my phone "NO DON'T DO THAT! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" Always a pleasure watching you play through games 😂
26:33 "I need to not just nav the whole way. I need to play it a little bit closer attention" Hallelujah he has learned hahaha :D edit: Nvm triggered the Aliens right after by rushing and an onslaught lol
Yes, about time indeed. Chris' penchant for running long distances was so stressful. Walking is also an acceptable option especially in this current scenario where venting Aliens are popping up so randomly. Can you imagine just running around like this in Alien Isolation?
1st: Place turrets in a way they can defend each other. So even if they come from the blind side of one turret, another one can shoot them while they are going at the first one. 2nd: When you are hunted, you can build yourself a shelter and the hunt will be called off immediately. It might be well worth the tool. 3rd: Don't just run everywhere like a maniac and then act surprised when you stumble upon a hidden enemy.
You were doing pretty well while going slowly and methodically taken them down, but after defending that room you started to run a bit like a headless chicken through the corridors and bumping into ambushes. 🤣
"Xenoorg---... Xenoorganism" Squad let's get some suppressive fire on that Freudian slip! Also thanks for using sniper more, it has so much potential to keep the squad undetected especially with the drone opening doors to get long range sightlines.
hey odd iv had a stressful week and just wanted to say watching you play this game based on my favorite universe has been a great distraction and iv really been enjoying it can't wait to see more!
They should allow you to pick the formation of your marines, ie to put your recon on point, that way if you want to use them to stealth takedown patrols it’s easier.
-- Chris, a SERIOUS WARNING waring for you. Mission 10, the Pryce of Deception is BADLY BUGGED. Game breaking. For several different reasons if the game thinks you do the objectives out of order, or do not/can not complete objectives, you can complete the mission, get out of there, and once you return to the Otago, it will tell you you only have 10/11 primary objectives completed. AKA: You cannot proceed to the next mission. Also, auto save ditches your previous saves after a time, so if you DO NOT have a save BEFORE Pharos Spire, you're screwed and have to replay the entire game from the start. COPY YOUR SAVE FILES AND SLAP THEM IN A FOLDER AFTER EVERY MISSION. Hate to see you get so far in your playthrough and be stuck like me, and reading, apparently 100s of us.
@@ChristopherOdd -- The patch did not fix it. This problem happened to me yesterday (July 3rd). All sorts of bugs that end with the same problem: No progression. There is one where you have to retrieve a keycard, but the game allows you to go on. Another where you have to open vents, whether you do or don't the game allows to you go on. Or in my case, I had to eliminate security on the first floor (street). I did, it didn't count. There is no one left to eliminate. In all instances, you leave and the game tells you 10/11 objects complete and won't let you progress. In my case (and many others) the game's auto save system overwrote previous saves, so now the earliest save I have is AFTER the bug. So no progression, have to start the game over. Also for some people, the Queen mission in that map doesn't complete, which is a bugger because the tech you get from that queen is very nice indeed. Just copy your save folder after each mission, you should be fine. I'd actually name the folders, Mission 1-10 saves. Happy Fourth to you.
Space out picking up Ammo. Between Deployments' just makes you want to keep pushing the mission. But your Trauma looking good. Its one of the best parts of this game with the cat and mouse aspect on so many levels.
Really aim to get the additional resource skill on all your marines as it enables so many more upgrades in the long run. Pouches for the extra tool/med kit capacity are also a very good investment on marines.
If I have to cross map thats when I have the scanners make sound and pull the enemy away from the path I need to take. Works surprisingly well…set up those sensors!
I got real nervous when you were waiting for the 2nd wave and decided to go put down some mines. Glad you can cancel. I caught that "this is fine" joke after the flamethrower
This was mostly perfect, but it seemed about midway through you got frustrated with the slow pace (or thought we'd get frustrated) and refused to double back for those supplies and started running everywhere, which is when it went bad. Take your time, dude.
Thanks for playing this Odd, I couldn't quite get into Xcom, but I had to get this game and I'm enjoying it, dangerous though lol, stayed up like a kid playing it, have to be careful I don't ruin my sleep for work. Though got 2nd hand frustration with the snipers, controlling 4 guys at a time makes it so clunky, maybe if they don't want to hand individual control to the player it'd be good to let the player choose "squad formation" so you have a recon or heavy "taking lead" (sergeant ability??).
30:48 You got some nice chokepoint, you just had to use flare, rapid fire and a flamer and instead of that you run through aliens to place where massive column will block your sight?
Hey Chris, I wonder if you have considered using mines? They are essentially free damage since CP restores over time. Especially outside of combat, you can put them in strategic positions and even use motion trackers/drones to lure enemies into them.
I don't know if Odd is trying to like...make these not be so long, but multiple times, a lot of that would have been fine if he'd just waited a bit longer. The running everywhere also gives you less opportunity to respond and get scan data as you walk. I've seen this a lot with multiple people, command points recover over time, you can set a ton of trackers for example. I know he talked about mines in another post. Also en route to the med room after the turret standoff he knew there were three medpacs yet instead of Naproleaving the other three goes to rest burning a tool instead. Commander Odd focusing more on content instead of moving slowly, thinking tactically would be the ideal scenario, but the YT algorithm doesn't support slow and long vids. Though I do agree that going to the Med Bay to get the medical supplies and resting there wasting a tool instead of using the med supplies for healing stress is a strange decision, I could attribute it to the Commander's logic of using 1 resource instead of 4 to heal stress.
you can use the motion trackers to lure them on other side of map i put them on far away spots and when it's a bit crowded i pop one. gives me time to do stuff and they are free and why not some mines on the way
Keep up the amazing work Mr Odd! I'm catching up on this around my work, but its keeping me well entertained, Just wish the marines alerts where a bit more accurate.
19:00 After that fight you should have booked it to the safe rooms on that floor and rested. Kill your stress, Kill the alien activity...you get ammo when you rest.. Could use that to reload a turret or something.
25:00 thats why you dont make stupid lines with turrets. 2 turrets facing each other would give great coverage. 3 and you have amazing coverage in almost 270 degree FoV.
31:00 Jesus... you were on a dead end path with an onslaught coming... that was the perfect position. Then you COULD face all your turrets one way. But you wait time respoitioning into a bigger area, harder to defend.. and afterwards your totally exposed in the hunting phase.. You need to break your run button lol. You also need to stop assuming you know where the aliens are.
You cleared alot, just take the win. Its already to hot with guys patrolling the halls. You started out so well and then your stress and panic got the better of you lol.
Something that kinda irks me about the game is how they're trying to remain stealthy and yet the guy is barking orders. I wish there was a setting to mute him barking orders because its silly.
watching videos of odd is like watching your favorite sports team, but they play really bad and lose every match. frustrating but you watch anyways to the bitter end. i wish he would go a little slower, be a little more focused, actually learning basic game mechanics, maybe after 20 episodes its not a crime to read up some meta information. goes into a infested room with a xeno spawn point, from which he was attacked 5 seconds ago: "we should rest here, why is it not working?" :D dude have you been playing the game for 20 episodes or was it your evil twin brother?? :D
I felt so bad when we didn't actually click to take the sniper shot (Or it might have been cancelled because the sniper was moving backward and broke line of sight), and then seconds later started saying "Take the shot! Take. The. Shot!"
I think you have made the right call to stay with this team BUT you have to be more cautious. Walk or run short distances. Not click half the station away. The game is obviously programmed now to increase the number of venting Aliens. Your ammo is good, you have 4 sentry guns and your teams health is not bad. Just please "watch your spacing and check those corners!" I noticed that the Aliens are now running through the flamethrower stream and the burning patch so my old go to for blocking paths is now seemingly useless. So rude! How dare the Aliens adapt!
Use landmines proactively instead of sniping. You can place a land mine and then use the drone to draw one to it, and boom problem solved without endangering you to be being seen.
This feels like it's on the easiest setting,an I believe you when you say it's on the second hardest, but telling you where to put sentry guns ?,and yesterday's base attack was a walk in the park, maybe your just too good at this game,or maybe the games making it easier,I don't know,it's a great game. I'm probably just used to playing an watching xcom 2 lol. Enjoy your trip Chris.
Remember, creating a shelter interrupts a hunt, meaning the hive aggression doesn't climb, you get additional ammo and reduce stress. Chris, why do you hate resting so much?
Odd: "Where's Slowly?" Moving slowly of course. Her lollygagging behind the squad definitely caused a hunt or two and almost caused several more this mission!
It's very distracting when your soldiers shout out, "They're heading our way!" or "I think we're spotted!" and you panic a bit and realise they are commenting on something that's on the other side of the map or commenting about an alien in a vent that they are moving towards.. I mean it's not like this game doesn't have enough stressful moments hehehe.. Really enjoying your playthrough.
Love this channel alot, but god you frustrate me when you put the sentries down facing the wrong way… all 3 facing the same direction a couple of foot away from the wall. AHHHHHHHH
You are making a lot of mistakes while placing turrets. Offten you are placing turrets in front of choking point, but they are more effective when you place them behind it.
But then i see you make super obvious "misstakes" and i think. Maybe he is just noob or has a crappy screen. Like when you try to snipe and tell her to go away and then back and wonder why she didnt shot. Hmm nah i go with that you just getting old and getting poor eye sights youre way to good on xcom to be newb ;)

I just came back for the supplies on another mission.
why you not have 5 members crew ??
Is he ever gonna tripod??
Can’t understand why u don’t place a mine every once in a while ?
Love this channel alot, but god you frustrate me when you put the sentries down facing the wrong way… all 3 facing the same direction a couple of foot away from the wall. AHHHHHHHH
Odd: 33:05 This is Fine
How do you put waypoints down?
Not the mama not the mama🤣
You are making a lot of mistakes while placing turrets. Offten you are placing turrets in front of choking point, but they are more effective when you place them behind it.
This level isn’t too hard. The one after this can be a pain in the butt.
Common team!
1:10 "xeno-orgas..." organism" *phew i almost said it*
Please use mines in the corridors please!!!
Lets GOOOO
Is it me or does it almost look like most of the decisions are reckless and rushed ?
It's just you man.
@@ChristopherOdd 😂 Might be the stress
👏
Listen... you smell something?
Your naving like turn based game when things pops up and you just cant respond enuf. its a wonder there isnt a wipe
Is it just me or is the combat getting a bit repetitive?
Time to unsub. not really into these top down strategy games. which is all thats ever played on this channel these days
Bye!
✌🏾
USE. YOUR. DECOYS!
Im so amazed how you sometimes seem blind :) :)or maybe you just do these misses to keep the game Intense? I mean youre so good at xcom
