Monsieur Periné hails from Colombia, a country known for its Afro-Colombian cumbia, as well as New York-style salsa. Instead, however, the band has embraced 1920s-era, guitar-driven jazz from the U.S. The unlikely inspiration has resulted in a large and international following, as well as a Latin Grammy not too long ago: Monsieur Periné was named 2015's Best New Artist.
Words don't do this band justice. Play the video and discover Monsieur Periné's magic for yourself.

If you enjoyed this, go search their concert schedule right now and buy tickets to whichever show is coming to you. I just got back from their May 3, 2016 show in San Diego. To start: Not only are they better than this in person... they are mind-blowing. I don't give out that kind of praise often.
I've never been to a better show by a band this size. The only more transcendent musical experiences I've had have come from groups like the Vienna Philharmonic. I'm not kidding you. They just blew the doors off the place. And it cost $15........
Do you know that feeling you get when a band just bursts off the stage and fills the entire room with their presence? Not just their music in the air- they permeate your entire consciousness, and it feels like they take over your body as well?
Or the warm feeling in the back of your head, like you're enveloped in a blanket? But at the same time your eyes and ears are 100% alert, and you feel like you've expanded into the whole space that the music is reverberating in? Every note is crystal clear, and every spot you look at is laser-sharp, even if you have bad eyes? Well... that's what these guys (and ladies) do.
4 members of the Monsieur Perine' (bassist, drummer and the 2 guitarists) moseyed up to within 10 feet of where I was standing while the opening act was playing and grooved for a couple of songs. Then, at the end of their own set, Ms. Garcia and most of the mobile instrumentalists did a walk-through in the audience. Pretty cool to have them walk by one foot in front of you- especially the ladies....since I'm a guy...
I was expecting quality music, but I wasn't expecting THAT. Don't miss them. Go and you'll see exactly what I mean.

+Sancho Quixote I saw them in SF a few days ago. In a sea of people whose languages I could not understand, in front of a band who sang no english, I had the best experience in a show I've ever had.

Experiencia maravillosa.
It's a shame that you can't understand them very well because they don't sing in English, the truth is that their music is so beautiful, no matter if you know or not spanish, they will always make you fly with their magic, and simplicity they are. I had the opportunity to meet them in Bogota Dc. Wonderful experience. Greetings from Colombia!

Genial!!
