Swamp Thing was awesome and what crushed me even more was that they were gonna set up a Justice League Dark show which if you don’t know is a team of magic based heroes like John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman and Etrigan the Demon. Also Swamp Thing could have led to a Constantine show with Matt Ryan on DC universe I loved the Constantine show that was cancelled and it could have been amazing on DC Universe cause they can go all out on the gore and horror elements.

WB is notorious for having some of the most clueless and apathetic execs in the world, so this move doesn't surprise me at all. Pisses me off, but doesn't surprise me.

As cheesy as swamp thing 82 was, we loved it. There's just something great about it. Probably because it was one of those movies run on tv forever, when hbo wasn't even a 24hour channel yet. It only came on at like 5pm. But we were thrilled to have comic book movies.

I love that James' go to for Ray Wise is Reaper. My brother and I think of him as the devil from Reaper, too. 50 year career, full of classic movies and Tv shows, and we just remember him from a show that barely lasted a season and a half.
I encourage you guys check out the sequel to the '82 movie, The Return of Swamp Thing. Its quite campy, but has much better special effects. I personally think its much more enjoyable than the first one. Plus Heather Locklear stars in it as Abby Arcane. Also the very short lived animated series from the early 90's is a wonderful trip. Would love yo see a video covering both of those.
Ray Wise played Alec Holland in 1982 but the "the other guy" was legendary stuntman Dick Durock who played Swamp Thing in 1982, 89 and for the series 90-93! Return of Swamp Thing is one of my favorite movies ever and my favorite look of swamp thing !

Swamp Thing 1982 was mostly made to finance Batman 1989. The man on fire is the stunt man who plays Swampy in the suit. That stunt nearly killed him due to being badly planned but he got a bonus out of it. The sequel is based on the Moore run and features the famous sex scenes, in PG-13 that is. It´s crazy bad!

This is one of the best examples of how nostalgia effects what you like. I love the 80's Swamp Thing movie because I was a kid when I first saw it and it was amazing! Hearing you guys talk about how bad it is was so surprising to me. But I have a little brother who loved Power Rangers and when I tried to watch that I thought it was complete shit. I know there are tons of people who grew up watching Power Rangers and loved it but my generation thinks it's complete garbage. Just shows you that no matter what generation you are, whatever you like as a kid probably sucks.

Swamp Thing was cancelled due to miscommunications in the contracts signed with WB. Basically a company told DC they’d pay for half the show then they realized after the first episode aired that the company wasn’t paying for half and was paying for less than a quarter. The company then said that’s what they agreed upon from the beginning, thus screwing the last episodes of swamp thing 2019s budget and they were forced to cancel the show

This is one of the best examples of how nostalgia effects what you like. I love the 80's Swamp Thing movie because I was a kid when I first saw it and it was amazing! Hearing you guys talk about how bad it is was so surprising to me. But I have a little brother who loved Power Rangers and when I tried to watch that I thought it was complete shit. I know there are tons of people who grew up watching Power Rangers and loved it but my generation thinks it's complete garbage. Just shows you that no matter what generation you are, whatever you like as a kid probably sucks.

Cat People is from the 40s, and plus it's terrific (and not really a monster movie either). Creature from the Black Lagoon is also good. Let's not insult them by grouping them with Swamp Thing.
Swamp Thing was cancelled due to miscommunications in the contracts signed with WB. Basically a company told DC they’d pay for half the show then they realized after the first episode aired that the company wasn’t paying for half and was paying for less than a quarter. The company then said that’s what they agreed upon from the beginning, thus screwing the last episodes of swamp thing 2019s budget and they were forced to cancel the show
That shot from approximately the 3:00 mark could easily be slipped into The Thing (1982 not 2011 obvs) and it would not look out of place. Having completely forgotten this show existed and only being 3 minutes into the video I am declaring I must watch this show. Why is this show not still running? I want to see swamps demolishing every human in sight at every opportunity.
