Agreed. Stuff dies too fast so I’ve noticed people or “good ww’s” are just blowing all cds off the rip to keep up with everyone else’s initial burst damage. This rotation seems absolutely perfect for keys 25+ but at this point any key lower isn’t going to fit into the ramp window.

Really amazing guide. How does tier factor into this? Do we just completely ignore it and hope it lands on good abilities? Or should we be playing around tier in some important way? Thanks!
Heya, thanks for the kind words! you want to proc it in your bone dust brew window. If you're getting really comfortable with the spec then track set stacks with a weak aura and just watch for it when you're using your bonedust brew combo late into a pack. Otherwise on ST just ignore it.
Great guide, re-rolling from Season 4, just curious if the opener is still better this way around now we dont have to worry about Relics? I assume so as getting the extra WDP in will do big damage in those higher keys! Thanks for the straight forward guide. Time to practice!
It's still better for sure, only thing to note is that there is so much damage with the higher ilvl now that actually for say 15 tyrannical keys mobs might actually die before your bone dust brew finishes. If you are noticing this at all in your dungeons, then you want to consider running spiritual focus and doing the fast ramp just straight into spinning. As if mobs are dieing then then the slow ramp with whirling is not worth it.
If I got it right, SEF have 2 stacks, you click one at burst, but when do you use the other stack? In the next pack or just when the first stack falls off? Nice vid!
I always try to carry the next stack into either a) another pack, or b) when bonedust brew comes back up. I try to align every SEF with bonedust brew as a minimum, this makes sure you can get 5 marks out efficiently just before you press bonedust and start spinning for damage.
Awesome video. I'm just starting monk, so while a few of the nuances still confuse me, I think the opener makes sense. One of the hardest parts I'm finding right now is figuring out how to map-out my spells on my keyboard. Would you be interested in doing a video that goes over your setup? What makes sense to you?
It does, but at 5 targets with CDS going you need over 25% mastery approximately for it to be worth to use tiger palm between spinning crane kicks. The reason is you don't get as many spinning crane kicks into your bonedust brew window if you don't spam it. I kind of dislike that now that I've played WW more, as most of the spec if designed around mastery/the flow of pressing abilities. And bonedust brew ruins that because it makes spinning cost 1 less
I was around 270ilvl for this guide. Biggest things to watch out for: a) are you fixating your images too early (this would mean you aren't getting max mark of the crane stacks) or b) are you not fixating your images after bone dust brew.
So on packs between cds I've been running in switching targets to get mark on everything then spin tiger punch spin tiger punch and so on to keep the mastery damage buff up. Is that correct or would u do something else. This is on like 4 packs or bigger
Yep thats right, you also want to keep fists of fury and whirling dragon punch on cool down (so press rising sun kick every 20 ish seconds). This is only when you don't have storm earth and fire/bonedust brew though.
Heyo, yes there is, I don't use it as you'd need a separate key bind, but this should work for you: /target [player] /use Inscrutable Quantum Device /target lasttarget
Rerolling soon. How is monk doing in Sepulcher? Would like to get competitive in WoW finally, so I'll be doing both mythic raids and m+. Also is it going to be top dps in s4?
Heyo, depends on the survival hunter nerfs. But looks like it will be top dog for next if the nerfs are anything like those to warlock! It's ok for raiding, but to be honest you can play anything in raids
@@milii4306 just looked over the patch notes, for sure WW and hunter will remain at the top. I'm predicting it will be a combination of hunter/WW nailed on, then either mage/ rogue/warlock in the last dps spot depending on the dungeon. Tank healer will remain blood and holy priest.
@@galeaggtv Thanks for the answers! I appreciate it, as I only started playing in SL 9.0 casually, and now switching to competitive, so it's hard for me to judge which classes are worth sinking time into. Atm, I'm going through all specs so I can decide which one to level while the 50% buff lasts and play through S4. Btw, are there tunings during seasons? Could 1 go offmeta? Don't really want to reroll during seasons... Also this, uhm flavor of the month playstyle is not my thing but yea better to go with something strong
@@milii4306 it's always difficult as there can be tunings mid patch, the game in its current state though I'd say you can reroll if you want. It seems like blizzard are moving towards buffing specs during patches, and only nerfing in new seasons etc. So WW/Hunter will likely be safe for the foreseeable future. Best advice I can give for competitive is to put the time into learning the dungeons the most, that knowledge will always stay even if you reroll!
Very good guide! I’ve never really played Monk, i leveled one to like 20 in MoP and that’s it.. Might be a dumb question but for alliance where can I find these types of AOE dummies to practice on? Great video by the way, by far the best details out of the youtube lot.
Hey, glad you liked it, there are some in Boralus (BFA expansion, portal from stormwind), if you google Boralus training dummies it will show you where on wowhead. There are 4 to practice on there.
@@galeaggtv Found em and geez, this is great. I mean I was doing decent stuff but not optimal. Had to change up a few binds (I had xuen macroed with SEF, and now it's separate.) but I can tell once I have some practice this will be great. I do feel that especially for lower key scenarios you need to perhaps do a mini burst window sometimes with just SEF and hopefully some BDB procs. Doesn't using xuen with trinkets and potions with xuen a bit of a waste since you don't actually start doing damage until the BDB cast?
@@minstrelca Yep there are for sure packs, or like you said low keys, where the quick opener is the right choice. I'm thinking the slimes just before first boss in plaguefall for example. Here I do the quick opener so that I get all my damage into the slimes. As for when to use Xuen, you can use it just before you press your bone dust brew too, but I like to pot/xuen before so I get it up for 2 fists of fury casts (one before bonedust brew and spinning crane kick spam, and one right after).
Since you arent meant to double press SEF, isnt it a good idea to change the 'damage increased by SEF when they fixate one target' to the xuen dps/CD reduction conduit, especially since this means more procs of your legendary?
Hey, you have to refocus your images, but after you have pressed rising sun kick and then tiger palm. This gets you to max stacks of marks of the crane. Then after this you press bone dust brew and press Strom earth and fire again to refocus them. That means you get the damage increase for all of your spins. You have to make sure that you get this part right or you will be doing 40% less damage than you should be. Watch that part of the video back a few times and practice it on dummies is the best thing I can suggest. It took me ages to not spam SEF and do that part of the opener right.
@@alsius9162 damn ye trinkets are big, if you are really struggling id suggest the PvP on use, I had that for most of my push on my 0 to 3k series and it went well!

Hell yeah brother! Thanks for the guide as ive never played monk in general since MOP and that was because of hero class launch haha Never gave it a chance, now that im actually having alot of fun i kick myself in the ass for missing out over the years! Now i do have a question, why does bloodmallet claim that NF is king over anything? It makes sense that necro would be best over all but idk where they get these sims from lol
Awesome, glad you could get into monk! I've just recently started too and also having so much fun. I think NF is fine for single target when you can get use out of Niya. But when I sim a fight for 1 minute on 5 targets necrolord comes out on top, and because mythic+ we are mostly on larger packs necrolord is the play for sure!
Heya, yes you're absolutely right, rule of thumb is don't break mastery, and you actually don't have to 3x RSK there, you can keep mastery and get 3 RSKs in, overall though definitely worth it to break mastery if it means getting 3 RSKs into SEF, losing mastery on a blackout kick is like 600 damage for me, whereas getting an extra RSK into SEF is like 8k. So say you've used a defensive or lost a global to procs or something you may need to break mastery etc
Any way you could link your modified version of the WA with expel harm included please? It's perfect for what I need as I am struggling to keel track of a few things.
Great video one question I always had on st openers is when does spinning crane kick take over in the prio when your carrying five stacks of mark of the crane into the pack.
Hey, thanks for kind words! yes I'll always try to full channel, sometimes you can't and you have to cancel, but general rule of thumb is try to channel
Heyo, that might have been the case in the past, but all of our damaging abilities update live as we use potions or trinkets etc! The only ability in our kit which "snapshots" damage is touch of karma as far as I'm aware, and that is only affected by versatility. So if we get a versa proc from IQD or other trinkets for example.
Heyo, yes this is the hard part. You have to press storm earth and fire once, if you accidentally spam the button you will focus your images so you don't get maximum stacks. If you have only pressed SEF once then press rising sun kick and tiger palm you will hit 5 stacks in 2 globals. You then press storm earth and fire again to focus the images on one target. I don't use any macros or anything, hopefully that helps.
@@awkwardchocobo1838 it's so that you get the damage from coordinated offensive conduit, it's a huge part of your damage so need to make sure that you focus before you start to spin
SEF doesnt last long enough, you need the 2 globals before bone dust to get out marks with rising sun/tiger palm, then bonedust and you don't have enough time to fit in a fists
I don't get why you won't take fists and rising sun into your opener with bonedustbrew. Is it because you just want the spinning crane spams in the bonedust window? And for the spinning cranes: you only want to spam them in a bonedust window even without chi-ji? Outside of bonedust you don't spam spinning crane, only with the procc?
Thats right, always try to spam spinning crane kick/whirling dragon punch in bone dust brew on AoE. Fists still does decent damage but you want to make the most use out of the reduced cost of spinning crane kick in the bonedust window as possible. You should see significantly higher damage if you only spin and don't use fists inside bonedust on AoE. Try testing it out on some dummies!
Whirling Dragon Punch animation is so bad! Give me Whirling Dragon KICK instead. I hate the part that you jump in the air and fall after punching, feels so bad IMO. Great guys! havent played WW in a while, gonna love this.
You want to spinning crane as much as you can on bone dust with SEF up to take benefit of the cost reduction on spins. So if you fists inside SEF you won't get as many spins in. Especially considering you'd be losing chi as well, so you'd have to regain the chi again inside bonedust too
Hey, if I think this is what you're asking about. Basically, spinning crane kick has a wierd cast bar that shows you're spinning, but you can actually press other abilities still. Normally that doesn't matter and you actually want to keep pressing buttons, but you can cancel your spinning damage if you press FoF or chi burst, or anything with a cast bar, which is really painful as you use lots of damage, especially on chi-ji prices if you cancel it early
@@galeaggtv Ah i see, i thought u meant that u shouldnt use fof after a chi-ji proc as if there is a bug but u were talking about starting a channel during the spin
Very little difference in damage, so just play what you think looks best or if you like some of the utility then play that. Orc is slightly ahead in terms of damage (the difference between races is like 0.1% damage though) if you really want the damage details.
Pretty sure mastery is still better than crit. You stack crit slightly more but your mastery is going to carry your damage during your Bonedust windows since you cannot critically strike during that time. I have about 24% vers, 31% crit, 26% mastery and 14% haste. I only have haste over 10% because it interacts with how many procs you get.
Heya, you absolutely the opposite is true, you absolutely can crit during bonedust, but because you spam spinning crane kick during bonedust brew mastery is pretty much useless for AoE. If you have over 35% mastery it is worth pressing tiger palm between spinning crane kicks, but at that point I'd highly suggest changing gear rather than changing your AoE rotation (you end up not having enough energy if you don't wait for energy before going into bonedust brew, and it's really awkward to play). If you look at any of the top monks who play ww they have 0 to 200 mastery. A little bit of mastery is fine, but Vers/crit are way ahead. Have a look at Ashinekp on the wow armoury, he has logged out on ww geared for m+ currently and has effectively 0 mastery and haste for what I mentioned above. You are right for ST, mastery is fine there for raiding etc, but not on m+, it's behind crit Vers.
@@galeaggtv I am a pvp player so that's why I question whether crit is good because it's behind mastery in PVP due to bonedust not critically striking in PVP combat. But in general when playing ww pce you don't want to break mastery unless you have a proc lined up in your tier set. If you get a proc, then you spam that ability but most monks that do higher keys tend to throw in Blackout kicks and RSKs between spinning crane kicks. I haven't really played too high with windwalker this season compared to last season. Just 17s so I only know from what I've watched. I knoe in raid you never want to break master ever in ST, but you also don't really want to break it unless you have to in AoE because any mastery you have (if over 15%) it I'd mathematically in your best interest to use mastery in AoE situations if you have enough haste. You probably didn't want to get into how each Stat interacts with your class because that would take an hour to talk about lol. But all those guides are written at the beginning of the expansion where haste was unless and borderline detrimental but since haste interacts with your procs, you should look to have a few percentage of haste minimum to utilize mastery all the time
@@calebmorrison3135 I understand everything that you're saying, but it the math has been done, and during bonedust brew in AoE unless you have over 35% mastery you spam spinning crane kicks until you run out of chi. And if you are over 35% mastery, I'd highly suggest changing gear to be crit vers stacked. Outside of bonedust brew in AoE, absolutely, you don't want to break mastery as a rule of thumb it's just free damage!
Not true at all. If you are doing under 15 keys and the mobs don't live for 25 seconds then sure, use the fast opener. But ramping and getting WDP into bonedust brew is easily 15% ahead on overall, as long as the mobs live for the full duration.
Yes I only learnt this just after posting the video, I actually had the top weakaura from wago and you lose stacks when the targets die... so I was baited by it. I need to add a caption or something to the video to correct it. Thank you for the reminder/info!
Heyo, it's decent, most of the information is good but yes the AoE opener is wrong and like I said it's where most of your damage in dungeons comes from so really falls short there
Your first 3 abilities in your 4 set proc get the mastery benefit. But the rest don't, now this rotation is all dependent on how much mastery you have, if you have over 35% roughly then the rotation changes to where.you need to use tiger palms.and blackout kicks between spins. But I'd highly suggest changing your gear for more crit and vers rather than changing your rotation. If you make sure your jewelry (so neck/ rings) don't have mastery you should be fine. But worth checking to see how much you have. I only have 12% mastery so never need to worry about maintaining mastery between spins
@@galeaggtv Oh okay so basically its not worth it to go for the mastery bonus unless you have a lot (and also makes the ramp much longer) so taking less gear with it and just spamming spin becomes better. Thanks!

Thank you for the kind words.
That's a good idea, I've added it to my list of video ideas
Doesn't spamming Spining Cranke Kicks make you do less damage because of the mastery?
It does, but at 5 targets with CDS going you need over 25% mastery approximately for it to be worth to use tiger palm between spinning crane kicks.
The reason is you don't get as many spinning crane kicks into your bonedust brew window if you don't spam it.
I kind of dislike that now that I've played WW more, as most of the spec if designed around mastery/the flow of pressing abilities. And bonedust brew ruins that because it makes spinning cost 1 less
At 12:12 what is the black magick pool under the monk? What is the spell name, or is it a passive?
Heyo it's a bone dust brew proc from unity! So dark greeny AoE on your target and a free bonedust brew
Just for the sake of reference, what ilvl were you here? I'm sitting around 276 and can't get anywhere near this kind of damage.
What stats do you have? I was doing an overall of 15k as 271ilvl and dealing around 60 70k when procs happend in my aoe
Another question for you mate, is there a macro that stops using IQD execute?
Heyo, yes there is, I don't use it as you'd need a separate key bind, but this should work for you:
/target [player]
/use Inscrutable Quantum Device
/target lasttarget
Rerolling soon. How is monk doing in Sepulcher? Would like to get competitive in WoW finally, so I'll be doing both mythic raids and m+. Also is it going to be top dps in s4?
Heyo, depends on the survival hunter nerfs. But looks like it will be top dog for next if the nerfs are anything like those to warlock!
It's ok for raiding, but to be honest you can play anything in raids
@@galeaggtv I heard locks are getting a 20% nerf. Let's assume they stay in the meta, will WW still be top?
I’ve been maining Havoc Dh during Shadowlands and it recently got nerfed so the dps is pretty shit compared to what it could be and what it was, so yesterday i used my lvl 60 boost to make a WW Monk, only because i want to feel that feeling when you’re crushing the dps meter 😂😂 Cheers man !
Loved the video, great guide.
Thank you!
@@galeaggtv Thanks, feel like I'm slowly improving! Great guide :) shame I still have a green trinket, cant get any to drop xD
@@alsius9162 damn ye trinkets are big, if you are really struggling id suggest the PvP on use, I had that for most of my push on my 0 to 3k series and it went well!
Great content, keep up the good work! is there a dps gain in 2H vs DW? For people with both options which should we choose?
Thank you, really appreciated!
At lower ilvls dual wielding is slightly ahead, and because pox exists if you get one at 278 ilvl you will probably be dual wielding. But otherwise stick to highest ilvl/best stats
Hell yeah brother!
Thanks for the guide as ive never played monk in general since MOP and that was because of hero class launch haha
Never gave it a chance, now that im actually having alot of fun i kick myself in the ass for missing out over the years!
@@galeaggtv right on, I’ve always wanted to know what the best way to sim for m+ is.
I’ve always did 5-8 targets for 20-40 secs depending on the key
In ST you black out x3 to fit in a rising sun with clones. Wondering if the mastery break is worth the dam from a single rising?
Heya, yes you're absolutely right, rule of thumb is don't break mastery, and you actually don't have to 3x RSK there, you can keep mastery and get 3 RSKs in, overall though definitely worth it to break mastery if it means getting 3 RSKs into SEF, losing mastery on a blackout kick is like 600 damage for me, whereas getting an extra RSK into SEF is like 8k. So say you've used a defensive or lost a global to procs or something you may need to break mastery etc
@@galeaggtv thanks for the legitimate response! GG
Any way you could link your modified version of the WA with expel harm included please? It's perfect for what I need as I am struggling to keel track of a few things.
Sure I can put it on wago, just note that I won't be updating it often. I'll comment back once I've uploaded it.
On wago now, I've updated the video description for you with a second link to the UI
@@galeaggtv amazing dude thanks so much 🙏
Nice guide! How much io do you have on your main? :)
Great video one question I always had on st openers is when does spinning crane kick take over in the prio when your carrying five stacks of mark of the crane into the pack.
If you have 5 stacks it’s your best spell, but if you have cds ready you still want to do the AoE opener
I rerolled for the transmogs, I stayed for the dps. ;D
nice guide, do fully channel fleshcraft when running Emeni?
Hey, thanks for kind words! yes I'll always try to full channel, sometimes you can't and you have to cancel, but general rule of thumb is try to channel
once a friend told me using trinket after xuen was wasting dmg because the trink stats affects xuen too. Is that real? Nice guide!
Heyo, that might have been the case in the past, but all of our damaging abilities update live as we use potions or trinkets etc!
The only ability in our kit which "snapshots" damage is touch of karma as far as I'm aware, and that is only affected by versatility. So if we get a versa proc from IQD or other trinkets for example.
u got 1 stack spining crane kick, when u use storm earth and fire after u got 4 stack . how did you do that ? u used macro for it ? can you share
@@galeaggtv Hey can I ask, whats the purpose of pressing Sef again to focus the images on one target later in the rotation?
@@awkwardchocobo1838 it's so that you get the damage from coordinated offensive conduit, it's a huge part of your damage so need to make sure that you focus before you start to spin
@@galeaggtv Appreciate the reply, and that cleared it up for me thanks!
Why dont you use FoF during SEF but before bonedust?
SEF doesnt last long enough, you need the 2 globals before bone dust to get out marks with rising sun/tiger palm, then bonedust and you don't have enough time to fit in a fists
awesome
@@galeaggtv will try, thanks :)
How come we're not using fists with the images on burst?
It's not worth it, you want to make the most of the bone dust brew point cost reduction on spinning kicks
Whirling Dragon Punch animation is so bad! Give me Whirling Dragon KICK instead. I hate the part that you jump in the air and fall after punching, feels so bad IMO.
Great guys! havent played WW in a while, gonna love this.
Truuue, its so clunky, although it makes me very aware of boss abilities that I need to be aware of incase I press WDP at the wrong time...
in the aoe opener why not fists with SEF?
You want to spinning crane as much as you can on bone dust with SEF up to take benefit of the cost reduction on spins. So if you fists inside SEF you won't get as many spins in. Especially considering you'd be losing chi as well, so you'd have to regain the chi again inside bonedust too
can you explain the "dont fof after chi-ji proc" bug ?
Whats the best race for monk Horde?
Very little difference in damage, so just play what you think looks best or if you like some of the utility then play that.
Orc is slightly ahead in terms of damage (the difference between races is like 0.1% damage though) if you really want the damage details.
Radge hearing a fellow geordie on a wow guide 😂
Ayyyy, first person to recognise the accent. Toon on the wow scene now
Can you make a small updates ww guide for season 4 with anything that’s changed about that spec that we should do differently
Absolutely, I've got in planned it my my first child has just arrived (2 weeks ago) so taking a little break before I get back to it!
@@galeaggtv congratz take as much time as you need if that’s the case
@@nastynast1764 Thank you
Pretty sure mastery is still better than crit.
Every single guide on WW for this patch says otherwise. Why would you just assume mastery is better... lol
But all those guides are written at the beginning of the expansion where haste was unless and borderline detrimental but since haste interacts with your procs, you should look to have a few percentage of haste minimum to utilize mastery all the time
@@brady9737 there's lile 2 guides actually worth looking at and they both say not to break mastery unless you really have to...
Good sht
Yo! So now we should never cancel FoF?
Hey, correct, fists does enough damage to never cancel
@@galeaggtv thx!
Ok its time to leave kyrian i guess! Thanks 🔥
Kyrian is better for ST fights. Also hid opener is incredibly slow and won't give you good results better guides out there.
Not true at all.
If you are doing under 15 keys and the mobs don't live for 25 seconds then sure, use the fast opener. But ramping and getting WDP into bonedust brew is easily 15% ahead on overall, as long as the mobs live for the full duration.
You keep the SPCK stack for the whole duration after target dies
Yes I only learnt this just after posting the video, I actually had the top weakaura from wago and you lose stacks when the targets die... so I was baited by it.
I need to add a caption or something to the video to correct it.
Thank you for the reminder/info!
Hey Galea what do you think about the WW guide from ruclips.net/video/4COJ0uyxD2w/видео.html&ab_channel=FMJ this guy?
(i ask since you made the comment at the beginning, wondering where your opinion is different)
also in the opener burst for aoe, does the spin get bonus from the mastery when you spam it like that? i assume it doesnt but still worth doing
Thanks!
Shouldn't really whisper your voiceovers, your mother will understand.
Hahaha, hilarious. I need to start an asmr channel
