Hey man! I’m currently vaulting in season as a sophomore, but I’m kinda stuck and unable to advance because I don’t have a bigger pole, currently I’m jumping 11 feet on a 12 foot pole from an 11’7 grip (as high as I can grip the pole) and I’m jumping 11 feet almost every single meet, I want to move up to a 13 foot pole, but the next biggest pole we have is a 13’7 165 and I haven’t been able to bend it at practice, how can I move from the 12 to the 13’7. I’m one of the best vaulters in the region and if I got on the 13’7 I would probably make State
Pole progression can be tough due to many schools not being able to buy sets of closely spaced pole lengths and/or flexes. I coach my kids and have realized buying poles myself is the best way to go. My senior son jumps 14' and my sophomore daughter's PR is currently 10-9". One option you might consider is renting poles. I was recently made aware of this and have picked up four additional poles that are on the top end of my kids' ability. The poles are Essx which I feel is an upgrade to the poles I was able to buy. The rentals are for three months and if we find out a pole is too small, I can trade up for $25 anytime within the original 3 month window. The vendor I use flexed our current poles to ensure we were truly getting the proper progression. This is who we used: thepolevault.store. Not sure where you live, you might need to look for a similar vendor in your area.
It will change your jump and it will change drastically dependent on how much pressure you use and when you apply it. A big left arm tends to make it harder to invert.
So I recently got inverted and for some reason I just can’t turn, when I try to turn I end up falling straight down. I would love if anyone has any tips to share!
keep pressure either A: pushing your top hand as tight to your body/leg as you can or B: pushing your leg/body as tight to your hand as your can. The farther your get away from the pole through the pull and turn the less control you have
Can you come to my school and help my kids. I have an indoor and outdoor. I have started all of them from scratch and they are doing well. I also have kids from other schools come to me for help.
You have no idea how bad i needed this. My turn is killing me
Hope it helps! Keep me updated on the progress!
Wonderful basics! Maybe I'll see you at Flicky Stick's- don't know yet.
Id love to see ya there! Hopefully you can make it!
Awesome drills Shawn!!
Thank you!

Thanks really appreciate
Am really finding it difficult with turning over
keep practicing! You'll get it!
What is your opinion of bottom arm pressure? Will it change anything in my vaults drastically? Will it help me invert or make it harder?
It will change your jump and it will change drastically dependent on how much pressure you use and when you apply it. A big left arm tends to make it harder to invert.
Awesome thank you!

keep pressure either

B: pushing your leg/body as tight to your hand as your can.
