The message of its story is despite John leaving crime to be an honest rancher, you can't redeem yourself unless you face your wrongful past and some form of punishment for it. John sacrifices himself so his family don't have to suffer with him for his mistakes. Thus, completing his redemption arc.

In fact, let me tell you this. In rdr1 in that scene you enter dead eye before dying to get the most you can with you. Well, if you use the mauser pistol, the weapon with most bullets in that game, 22 or something like that. You can kill almost all if not all of them. But the game will still spawn out of nowhere other soldiers as if you killed only a few.

Oh I was in shock the first time I played it, but then I got control of Jack and I went on a rampage on the rest , not even the little old lady in the crappy shack was safe , no fucks were given by Jack Marston in his quest for revenge
@@themadtitan7603 Yeah I often ponder it, with John's almost superhuman gunslinging ability against a firing squad of mostly amatuer marshalls, who only managed to get in 21 shots, John could have easily covertly flanked them from around the barn with an evans (if were sticking to RDR1's lack of dual wield) or dual wield any pistols, and just went John Woo on all them, and even realistically speaking he wouldve had the upper hand, with probably a flesh wound or two. Again just some head fan fic, but it's nice to think about. In truth John took mercy on the government boys by letting them kill him, it was a deliberate choice to die at that moment. He wasn't backed into that corner. He just had to make the right choice :(
@@Jupa Exactly. Perhaps John even had the ability to dual wield in RDR1 but the gameplay feature just wasn't included. I see a lot people saying this is why Arthur is clearly a better shot because he also kicked open a barn and was able to fend off the Pinkertons when the idea is that his sacrifice is made greater and truly his redemption because John very well could've John Woo-ed all of them as you put it but didn't.

As a longtime fan of RDR1, seeing John with that Gatling gun made me laugh harder than it should’ve, and the strung-together voice lines make this impeccably funny

I remember the first time i finished RDR... when John was killed, i was SO MAD. I loved him as a character and i thought i wasnt quick enough to gun the soldiers down. I was so mad that i literally quit the game after Jack and Abigail bury him. Seeing this was extremely satisfying from John maniacally laughing as hes shooting everyone, to him smoking a cigar in front of Edgar Ross, and the cherry on top was his "STHUPID CREATURE" at the end... This video gave my child self closure and myself a genuine laugh... XD
The Three BIG mistakes John Made were, going after Micah which led Ross right to where he lives. The Second biggest mistake was staying in America with a price that Big on his head. The Third Big mistake was buying the Ranch in his own Name rather than a fake name not to mention it was literally only a couple of Miles from where one of the most notoriously failed robberies of his criminal career happened.

I am a time traveler from the future. Red dead 3 will come out in the winter of 2027 but will be delayed. It will be about Jack marathon and as he goes through the evolution of civilization he’s been recruited by a gang, who will be based on a famous current world gang. The next red dead game will be Red Dead reincarnation. Rockstar will talk about no GTA 7 however it’s not entirely wrong. They still haven’t announced it and it’s 2031 Bully 2 is confirmed to never come out.
I'm going to pretend for today that this is the canon ending and John's family lived happily ever after gunning down any government boys that come sniffing around for him.
