I sideloaded the Skytrak+ launch monitor software into the Quest 3. I hit Sci-Core practice balls into a net (they read like Callaway Supersoft Max balls), using a huge resizable virtual monitor to display the range & my stats, without a projector & impact screen. The excellent passthrough cameras on the Quest 3 make this possible. You can run Virtual Desktop on the Quest 3 & gaming PC & stream GSPro into the Quest 3 this way, using the Skytrak+ or any other launch monitor which works with GSPro. You can also just run the Skytrak+ range software on the gaming PC & stream it to your Quest 3 without the need to sideload it on the Quest 3 itself.
@@dermot3762 - I got an Apple Vision Pro & just run the iPad version of the Skytrak software on it, or use Moonlight or Virtual Desktop to stream GSPro from my gaming PC.
Thanks for your great review - you've saved me about a grand AUD - I'll keep on with the quest 2 until some other huge leap in tech - I'm using the deadeye and the whole golf+ xp is awesome
He’s off base… I have the 2 and the 3, and it’s no comparison. Spend 2min using the 3 and you’ll realize why it’s such an upgrade. The pancake lenses alone are worth the money.
If you don't have one, get the quest 3. It is far superior and worth the extra money. The quest 2 is way more uncomfortable since it is so front heavy v the quest 3.
I have the quest 2 and bought an aftermarket headset strap. It is so good and changes the game. If you have the 2 just search for a strap replacement. The one I have allows the unit to move up like a visor on a bike helmet basically
Thanks for doing this comparison. I have the 2 and was debating on getting the 3 but I don't think there is significant improvement for the price. Thanks again for sharing and I really value your opinion.
I've heard it might actually make you worse, as it's not a 1 to 1 translation and the differences in weight of real club vs vr adapter might contribute to that. It also doesn't really account for whether your hitting to high on the ball or too low. As long as your within line you hit the VR ball almost 100% of the time, but it does pretty well on simulating whether you fade left or right.
I could actually pick the Quest 3 version of that screenshot, but I knew what to look for, as you say its the trees and the grass and little details where you really notice it. That extra sharpness and clarity can't be undersold though, it really does make a difference that is easier to tell when you are wearing the headset than just looking at a screenshot. That said, you really aren't missing out if you just have a Quest 2 and unless you have the cash to splash, this update is no reason to rush out and buy one. Also the Quest 2 got cheaper when the Quest 3 came out, so if you want an entry level headset its still a good option. That said I am loving my Quest 3 and updates like this to existing games give the Quest 3 a chance to show what it can do.
I've been on the fence about upgrading, I assumed the graphics would be significantly better in the 3...guess not. I use the 2 for more than just Golf+, I like the idea of the stronger processor and improved graphics. Thanks for the great content! It makes waiting a bit quite a bit more tolerable. Waiting to see if Golf+ kicks their graphics up a notch.
The Quest 3's lenses are where the biggest difference is, no blooming, or any of the other drawbacks of Fresnel lenses. It is a huge difference I can't believe they didn't mention. Worth having a look if you can demo a Quest 3.
It would be really interesting if we ever get to a point where we do AR golf simulators. Like an AR/VR headset paired with a launch monitor. Real ball and clubs
that would be amazing omg.... seriously would be a game changer. imagine going to any of your favorite course and playing......golf courses would go bankrupt
Slight improvement my ass lol the 3 is light-years ahead of 2, it's embarrassing how bad 2 is on everything, not to hate on people who only have 2 or can't afford 3, but it's a a HUGE difference
Quest 3 is worth every Penny over the Quest 2. The Lenses alone are worth the change. With the Quest 3 your whole screen is sharp, but the Quest 2 has a small “Sweet spot” that is sharp and everything else is blurry. Just know if you want a good headset you will want an aftermarket head strap and/with an additional battery pack. Golf+ is very much a Quest 2 game… all Quest 2 games play on the Quest 3 better. Some games have a bigger difference. Adding the Quest 3 Games Optimizer will play Golf+ at 150% graphical quality. This fall Quest 3 only games are dropping like Batman, Alien… and more.
The quest 3 is definitely worth the money if you are using it to its full potential like in sim racing . If you just play basic games and golf the quest 2 is more then fine
even more so when they improve the quest software and have more AR application functions, I really wish they would launch a quest 3 pro with better cameras without distortions, micro oled screen and higher resolution, more powerful processor, eye tracking and if they brought triggers adaptable controls would be the perfection of a standalone VR/AR headset
Id say its worth the money just for anything, I couldnt imagine using a quest 2 without passthrough mode. I use that mode so much in my house its not even funny. I jumped right to quest 3 without getting any of the others. Well I have the oculus DK1 kit but honestly that was a long time ago and believed VR would fail at the time. Lol terrible guess
I bought the game as you suggested to me. But as pro player I know where the ball goes related to my impact. I never make any slice, but the 90% of my shots on this game are slice. Do you know why, there's any adjustments that I have to do? Can you also suggest me a grip for vr? Thanks a lot
You can adjust the slider in the settings, however, I think it's accurate, it's just the weight of the controller doesn't mimic an actual club. A club attachment should fix it.
Yeah on quest 3 there a graphics slider for Golf+ and it improves slightly however the higher the graphics the more choppy it gets and throws off the putting
I hadn't heard of Physics V2 before this video. I don't see anywhere in my game to enable them... Are they the default physics now and just part of the game? Or am I missing something?
Moved from 2 to 3 and for this game it's actually less responsive. Fast swings lead to unregistered hits and looking back at the ball it thinks I've hit the ground like 2 feet to the side. Also it seems to be more stuttery and loses tracking.
@@obesesummer I have not noticed that to be the case. I swing pretty fast and while I do slice or push the ball on occasion I never miss hit. In fact I am a better player since I got the 3. Of course that mostly has to do with practice. I am sure you know this but make sure the room you are using is well lit.
Does anyone feel Golf+ in quest 2 is not very smooth (the motion in graphics) ? I could see it when I compared it to golf5 eclub, the quest 2 feels so smooth there.
in my experience, the golf5 eclub has better graphics and more smooth in quest 2. But many people saying that the physics is better in Golf+... I noticed the physics in golf5 eclub is a bit off on the green.@@goldenbear31
How did you get the controller cup on the top of the shaft? I have that same Elite golf adapter but the cup is on the bottom of the shaft and it is screwing up my putting in game because I am used to the weight being on top of the shaft.
The right controller slides into the cup facing towards you. Its tricky to set up in Golf+. You must hold down the side button as you rotate the cub into the proper alignment in the virtual world.
I am enjoying Golf+ so much on my Quest 3, struggling to get the DeadeyeVR stick in South Africa but I am going to the USA soon and I will get my hands on one. Does Golf+ translate into real world, does it help train you for real life play?
I have used it with a dedicated Game PC and Graphics are basically the same.. So unless update software to leverage Quest 3 you will not see much difference.
So why dont they mix AR with VR on this. Like when you look down you see your own real ball and you use real clubs and hit into a net. When you look up after hitting it brings you back to vr world.
