Hey good folks! I am happy to share my latest terrain project! The Townhouse 2.0! To realize this I had some help from an new tool, the Creality Falcon2 Pro Laser Cutter and Engraver! I am very impressed with this machine and I think I am going to use it a lot for my future builds! What do you think? Please tell me in the comments down below!
Stay safe and lots of love to you all! 👍💙💛💙
Great to see a project from you! Hope you’re well my friend 🤟🏻
Any tool to save the last shreds of your sanity is probably a good idea. You're a national treasure. Producing second to none Mordheim world.
Awww thank you so much! That is so nice of you to say! 👍💙💛💙
Swedes with freaking laser beams!
Hahahaha! Yeap! Watch out everyone! 👍😂
Amazing building as always! It strikes me that for those who want to use the laser cutter but keep a more organic feel you could setup several similar but slightly different templates, let the cutter produce a supply of each, and then simply mix them in a single bowl. As you draw from the bowl to glue them onto the roof, you'll get more variation and you can take that as far as you choose in terms of how many tile variants you choose to create.
Excellent idea which I incorporated ever so slightly in my next build! Thanks for that! 👍😊
Once again, some of the best-looking AND well thought out terrain on RUclips!
Hahahaha! Thank you so much! I am very glad you think so! I try my utmost! 👍😅
So two ideas, first what about cutting some baking paper to layer in the windows, color in individual squares sandwich it with the part of the frame with the leading and then cover it with UV resin then break out individual panes to have some broken not translucent glass left in the windows. Second set up some paper or tape stencils of a human or demonic silhouette and then use them to airbrush some kind of very mat black, then possibly paint in some white eyes and or smiles... maybe go over the eyes with a florescent ink. Alternatively do a template of footprints and then place those down and spray in them with a gloss varnish with maybe a drop of a dark ink mixed in to just have wet footprints.
These are some really cool ideas! Thanks for sharing! 👍💙💛💙
I would be very interested to see that. I have seen someone in a vid do something like that. I think he also putnjn some metal mesh to strengthen it and make it look like leaded glas.
Another great craft. You ARE the Mordheim crafter! I would love to see what would happen, if for your next Mordheim project, you made a demolished either a demolished Empire Keep or demolished Fortified Manor for your board.
Thank you so much! That is very kind of you to say! I try my best! 👍😅 New video will be coming online today actually! It is a demolished building, but not a keep or manor! Stay tuned! 👍😊
Thank you for providing boatloads of hobby inspiration! I've been getting into Mordheim recently and your tutorials have been a massive help when it comes to building and painting the City of the Damned 😎🔥🔥
Awww! This is so great to hear! Music to my ears! You are so welcome! Welcome back to Mordheim! 👍💙💛💙
3:20 I love this so much! I see so many Mordheim tables that look like New York or Chicago. Modern, planned-out (American) cities. Everything in straight lines and angles like it's downtown Manhattan. To that I say: _Fuhgeddaboudit!_ That's not how medieval cities looked or looks to this day. They are messy and chaotic. Which can be a nightmare for modern traffic, but makes for much more interesting and inspiring spaces.
So true and especially Mordhein since the destruction I would say? Warbands creating make-shift passages both on the ground and elevated! 👍😊 Glad to hear you like the video!
And I was just thinking yesterday "man, where id Leif at? Seems like a long time since he put out a video and I'd love to see one from him". And today, BOOM!
That's awesome to hear! It's been a minute but life has been busy! 👍😅
Leif, you are the best. You never fail to stir my creativity and make me want to build.
That's good to hear! Thank you so much! I try my utmost! 👍😅
As always I am impressed by how well you blend the story of the building into the crafting of it to give us that awesome look.
Thank you so much! That's so awesome to hear! It is really a peek into my thinking really. I tend to try to think about things in a chronological way, then game and level design and finally how to make it look pretty! 👍🤣
@@DevsDice well it's always a pleasure to peak into your thinking.
Perfection.
Waiting for Devs & Dice miniature land to open in 2030.
Hahaha! Thank you so much Catrin! Damn! Only 6 years away? I got to pick up the pace! 👍😅
The gunfire sound when snipping the stir stick overhangs at 3:28 is a mood. So many launched bits when I finally get the clippers through what I'm cutting over the years 😆
And they land in the most unlikely of places ever once and a while! 👍😂
Leif, this looks amazing! I'm looking forward to living vicariously through your Creality Falcon2 Pro adventures! Looking forward to seeing the amazing creations you'll come up with with the help of it! *insert maniacal laugh*
Hahahaha! Thank you so much! Glad to hear I have your support! 👍😊
Leif ! Leif ! Your videos just knock it out of the park !!! Wow...
Hahahaha! That is good to hear! Thank you so much for your kind words! 👍😊
hahahaha when you are at top level but you are able to rise the bar! haha amazing as always Leif!
Awww that is so nice of you to say! Thank you so much! 👍😊
Damn Leif, that's a masterpiece. Any naysayers who grumble about you using the laser cutter can go jump ... such tools are there to be used, especially where it helps alleviate some hobby-based discomfort. And I totally love the new style shingles you used. Fancy!
Thank you so much! This makes me very happy to hear and I agree! Thank you again! 👍😊
Look through the comments guys. he responded to every single comment. what a man. keep up the good work. I love your videos and the terrain in it. Mordheim has a unique style and your terrain just fits.
Hahahaha! Nothing new to be honest! I try to answer all comments at least once and have been doing so for ...years now! Thank you so much! I will do my best! 👍😅
Thanks you very much from France.
You're one of the best, in my opinion, for modelling Mordheim city.
This is a wonderful house.
That is very nice of you to say! Thank you so much! I try my utmost! 👍😊
Since I have been watching your videos with passion and interest, I have been wondering WHEN will you finally decide to find a little help in technology for all the tedious tasks?
And you did it! Creality seems to be doing the job for the roof...and you seem very satisfied: the time saved is good for the Stakhanovite that you are!!!
Congratulations Leif for this superb achievement, one more! ❤
Thank you for sharing the stages of construction of this magnificent building, and, in general, for all your fantastic work. ❤
Hahahaha! Yeah I have a weird rule that I don't want to buy new machines, but more ...earn them through my videos I suppose. Strange sentiment but in my sick head it is more honorable somehow! 👍🤣
This build turned out so cool I love the roof line. Great video👍
Thank you so much! Yeah I really liked that silhouette! More to come! 👍😅
@@DevsDice yeah it's really great, I look forward to it!
More like "Townhouse 20.9" jesus H christopher robin, this build was insane. I aspire to get close to your level now.
Hahahaha! Thank you so much! Very nice of you to say! Thank you! 👍😊
Thank you for sharing your work and design plans. You have made terrain building less intimidating for me.
Happy to hear that as it is one of my goals with the videos! Thank you so much for sharing this! 👍😊
It’s builds like this that is going to convince me to start playing Mordheim.
Hahahaha! Good to know! Join us! Come to the proper grimdark world of Mordheim! 👍😊
Leif, these builds are incredible! Excellent work. This was a treat to watch. 🎨👍
That is so awesome! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you kindly! 👍😊
So much love! You make me feel like I can do this! My building aren't as amazing as your, but you are my inspiration!
That's awesome to hear! But you can do it! And if it doesn't turn out perfect the first time then simply do another, look, analyze and try again on something similar! You can do it! 👍💙💛💙
Superb as usual Leif 🙏
Your honesty about mistakes and serial dry fitting is so positive for those who struggle to so seamlessly create as per a curated and edited video.
Honesty like this helps create psychological safety 😃
That is so good to hear! These crafts take time and one will make "mistakes" for sure but as I usually say: making mistakes is just learning! 👍😊
Amazing work as always! I have been thinking about a laser cutter for a long time and this may just push me over the edge. Well… if my wife agrees we have space for it.
Thank you so much! Yeah I mean for someone who constantly uses board for terrain projects it makes perfect sense! Hope you get one and that it works well! Just make sure to have good ventilation since laser cut board smells a bit! 👍😅
I'd love to see your take on a canal. Great work as usual!
Thank you so much! You mean more than I have in my current board? 👍😊
I was thinking some modular water filled ones similar to your river build to break up boards. I was thinking of making some myself and had hoped I'd missed a video you'd done already. Really loving all your builds though and can't wait for the next one!
This is so so sick. I joined a Mordheim campaign in large part because of the amazing videos you’ve made for the game and the passion you clearly have for it. I’ve been having a fantastic time with my kitbashed Cult of the Possessed. Thanks so much for inspiring me to try out this game. It’s amazing.
That is so amazing to hear and makes me very happy! Thank you so much for sharing! 👍💙💛💙
One thing you can do with foam core is place everything closer together before cutting. This way you have more foam core left over. Utilize space man!
So true! I was a bit sloppy with that one this one! 👍😅
Awesome! That new Falcon really opens up a lot of possibilities! Bet you never hand-cut shingles again! lol.
Hahahaha! For sure! We shall see but yeah...no I don't think so! 👍🤣
Whenever I see you share something I always watch. You are such a joy to listen to. Keep up the good work mate!
That's so good to hear! Thank you for that! I will do my utmost! 👍😅
Just stared the video and the intro alone is WONDERFUL, so ENERGETIC. Dude you rock. I can see your joy and it is infectious. Thank you for the video.
That is so nice of you to say! Thank you so much! I try my utmost! 👍😅
Love that spackle step!!
Right!? I think it brings a certain realism to the bricking! 👍😊
Still the best at making things that are conceivably attainable by the ordinary mortal. And man do they look good when finished. As long as you're posting I'll be watching Leif!
Hahahaha! This is music to my ears! Thank you so very much! I really appreciate it! 👍💙💛💙
What an epic build! Seeing the versatility of the laser cutter really has me wanting to get one for myself!
Thank you so much! Yeah I think one can use them for a lot more than mdf terrain tbh! 👍😊
Non glossy, cheaper foam core will help as well. Reflective surfaces are harder to cut with laser and part of the reason why you see a film on acrylic sheets
Ahh nice! Thank you so much for sharing this insight! Will try it out asap! 👍😊
Love what you're doing on here. Subscribed!
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel! 👍💙💛💙
I enjoy your videos so much. And love your intros and your crazy laughter.
Hahahaha! That's so awesome to hear! Thank you so much! Yeah my intros are just ...me! 👍😂
Great to see a new viseo :) thanks as always. Hope you are well.
Thank you so much! I am a-ok! Thanks for asking! 👍😊
These look fantastic! You should do a giveaway for the old townhouses, I know they don't see much use at your table but I'm sure someone could get plenty of play out of them!
Thank you so much! I was actually planning on donating these to my friendly local game store once I run out of storage space! But this is a good idea as well! 👍😊
Saw new video. Didn't even think. Just click.
You're like, the coolest dude. Love your work man!
Hahahaha! Thank you so much! That makes me very happy to hear! Well I am not sure about the coolest, but I will take it! Thank you! 👍😊
@@DevsDice anytime my dude! Keeping Mordheim alive, making gorgeous terrain, and also flooding with chill and positive vibes. That's pretty much every cool person box checked! 😂
Awww thank you so much! I try my utmost to inspire and spread joy so hearing this is awesome! Thank you! 👍😊
Love your new improved houses. The idea with the game design is clever, I will consider this in my next buildings an projects. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much! Yeah that is good to hear! I think I will be more open about my design-thinking going forward since I've been getting good feedback on that! 👍😊
If your shingles are "too perfect". You can draw them differently and batch out a few variations. Then when they're laser cut, just mix them up in a big tub. Instant random assortment of shingles.
This is so true! And something I think I will incorporate into my shingles! Thank you so much for the suggestion! 👍😊
Hearing how you think about the interface of game rules and terrain design would be great! Its often overlooked but has a huge impact. For instance, I have played mordheim a ton but very infrequently see players bother to go to higher levels because there isnt enough of a payoff. So in general I only model a base layer and first floor.
I am actually planning in doing a video where I specifically talk about design and the different aspects! 👍😅
I love uour chanel dude. And im chuffed you gain notoriety to the point companies send you stuff, but as with other channels I've watched, i feel these videos alienate audiences given their price tags.
Thank you kindly! Not sure what part would be alienating in the video? I did show a second townhouse in the end glamor shots that I created with similar techniques as my previous buildings. But yeah, I understand the sentiment I think. But like I also mentioned in the video, I welcome tools like this because I have some issues with my shoulder, and age will not improve on that! 👍😅
These are always awesome builds! Truly epic for gaming!
Thank you so much! Makes me very glad to hear that my work is appreciated! 👍😊
Great project! I like your way of thinking ahead to build terrain that is contributing to a more tactical game with choices that matter - and the form follows function design principle. Nice!
I would have implemented some stairs, though. And the overhang of the second floor is way too much. Medieval buildings had not that much overhang. It was usually only half a meter or less.
You call your roof tiles shingles, but they are actually beaver tail roof tiles and they definitely are always perfectly alligned because they are exactly made of clay with a form and are hanged to horizontal framework with a clay hook absolutely conform. I know this because I built a real life shed in my backyard with medieval construction technique and exactly those roof tiles. At old roofs it can be the case that the hook of those tiles is broken and the tile slides a bit out, but it is very rare. Much more common is broken roof tiles.
And you may try to paint the bricks in brown colour because medieval bricks in Europe are usually made of clay or stone bricks consisting of reddish brown (hard/expensive) or sand brown (cheap/soft) sand stone. Medieval window frames are always (!) wood with half timber houses.
Despite some minor unrealistic things the wole house is such a lovely model. I like it very much. And btw. I got shoulder issues, too (inflammations). I hope you get better soon.
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing the insights and for the compliments! I appreciate it! 👍😊
What a great blend of new & old tech!
Thank you so much! Yeah I did specifically not want to turn this into a laser cutting channel, but more using it where it fits as a complementary, so your comment makes me very happy! Thank you again! 👍😊
I added a laser cutter to my toolkit a few months ago - I'll never go back! ✊️
Ahh nice! Have you figured out how to cut foam core properly? 👍😅
@DevsDice No 😓 But I use it to mostly cut papers, boards, and woods; plasticard and acrylics, too!
Yeah I need to play around with it a bit. I suspect that the fact that my foam core is white is detrimental because diode lasers supposedly work less well on reflective surfaces? 👍😅
@DevsDice 😅 Mostly, I worry at because it's a mixed material. Good luck to you! 🍀
Now that’s a pretty sweet 2.0 level up, closer to 2.5 I would say :) great details and lots of attention to gameplay features, pretty awesome :)
Hahahaha! Thank you so much! Yeah I am leaning into a lot more gameplay and game design thoughts! My next video is coming out today and has taken that to a new level! 👍😅
@@DevsDice Sweet :) Looking forward to it :) Edit: It’s out already, perfect timing for dinner watching :)
always a pleasure to watch your videos!
Thank you so much! Glad to hear it! 👍😊
Brilliant as always. Love watching your builds
Thank you kindly! This makes me very happy to hear my work is appreciated! 👍😊
Awesome looking color scheme and design 👍
Thank you so much! Glad you like it! 👍😊
This is my favourite build of yours. the curve gives it an odd dynamic realism.
Thank you so much! Yeah I agree, and the fact that the footprint is so much smaller than my previous townhouses makes is a more viable object on the board! 👍😅
@@DevsDice but no sniper hole...
Hahahaha! Well there are plenty of places for sniping! 👍😂
Looks fantastic. Love how you still kept that handmade feel while speeding up the pain points.
Thank you so much! Glad that you spotted that! My point was always to add to a build with new tools! 👍😊
Gorgeous man, simply gorgeous.
Thank you kindly! Glad you like it! 👍😊
Great Work, Leif!
Thank you so much! 👍😊
What an AWESOME BUILD.!.!.!.!.!
Thank you so much! I try my best! 👍😅
Amazing video as always! I really appreciate that you talk through every decision in the terrain (like the design of each floor being thinner than the last for falling and ladders) because these touches make all the difference to a build. I'm also nerding out over those windows! This system is so easy and the results enhance the overall townhouse.
Thank you so much! Glad to hear my game design-ramblings are appreciated! 👍😅
Looking great! Happy to see your support for the Society of Humans Against Rectangular Terrain. Welcome to SHART!
Joking aside, awesome build and process.
Hahahaha! SHART ey!? We did well with that one! Thank you so much Karl! 👍😊
This video came out just in time, as I was about to start planning my own townhouses for my Mordheim table after your town houses 1.0. You now gave some excellent points to consider Leif, thank you! :)
A laser cutter is just something I want to fully explore myself as well, as we have a bigger one for our business, and I recently started learning to design some windows (and a Mordheim ruler) for myself. I never thought I'd start learning a designing program, but the opportunities are just so tempting!
As a recommendation to my fellow crafters, I started using Inkscape, it's free, has loads of functions and there are some great tutorials on YoutTube to start learning to design for leaser cutting,
Phew! Good timing then! Yeah I think going forwards I will be sharing my design thoughts more than just talking about "what I am doing" in the videos if that makes sense? Yeah laser cutting is a helpful tool for sure! Glad to hear you're getting into it! 👍😊
@@DevsDice I love that you're sharing your train of thoughts during these videos. For me, it helps a lot to think about my preferences, what I would like to aim for in a build. Also helps me a lot in my own craft videos, and makes me want to get back into making them after a longer hiatus.
Laser leakage .. words I never expected to hear, especially in a Mordheim video. Cool new builds, Lego will miss you buying windows now you have that futuristic hobby machine .. infinite roof tiles .. the strange things that make us salivate.
Hahahaha! So true! I still have a bunch of those lego windows since I bought about 200 of them from Brikklink! 👍😅
Must watch viewing as ever thanks ,leif.
Aww thank you so much! I really appreciate it! 👍😊
Great builds as usual, I really hope the laser cutter helps make the builds easier for you because I love watching your build vids. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! It really does make some of the mundane and repeatable tasks faster and easier on my shoulder! 👍😅
Thanks for the Video, I Love all of your buildings. Your Channel ist a big Inspiration for my interest in Mordheim, my own Mordheim Board and starting a RUclips Channel by myself. Thanks :-)
Aww thank you so much! That is so awesome! Good luck in Mordheim and with the channel! 👍😊
Fabulous work! Inspirational.
Thank you so much! I try my best! 👍😅
Love your creations as always❤ Keep it coming Leif
Thank you so much! I will do my best! 👍😅
Truly fantastic.
Thank you so much! Glad you like it! 👍😊
This is great. I’m currently making 3D to print terrain. I have been watching your channel for while, commenting and liking. All those seems to have been cleared like I never watch any. Happened to another channel but only with some videos, not all.
Thank you so much! That's weird! I usually tend to answer all comments at least once! RUclips is hating me! 👍😂
@@DevsDice haha at least once. Have you had this issue mentioned before? All my watch history with your channel is gone.
Seen some terrain fun with the Falcon 2 from Wulvenkraft channel and it looks like an interesting tool.
These townhouses look great & this got me wondering about the different more specialized areas (marketplace, stables, docks, temples (or for the dwarves a miniature stone statue of a book of grudges), ect.) of Mordheim would look like.
Thank you so much! Yeah those smaller buildings might be something I look into soon! 👍😊
Always a pleasure to watch you build terrain, my friend. One of the best. 😁
Awww thanks Donny! Right back at you duderino! 👍💙
Awesome build!
Thank you kindly! Glad you think so! 👍😊
He’s done it again! 👏👏 bloody hell mate, it looks amazing!
Awww thank you kindly! I try my best! 👍😅
Wow, amazing work! Your skills and attention to detail are truly impressive. Kudos to you for the incredible talent and passion you put into your designs! I can't wait to see more of your terrain work. :)
Thank you very much! Glad you like it! 👍😊
All hail Leif the Magnificent!
WOW, just when I think you can’t get any better with your Mordheim terrain builds, once again you outdo yourself and raise the bar for us all. This build was functional as well as stunning. A winning combination.
I apologize if this has been asked before … but what does the transparent umber do exactly, seeing as how you will be painting a base coat of a different color over it?
Thanks so much for your dedication to the hobby and to your subscribers!
Thank you so much! I try my utmost! When it comes to the brown, it does provide an undercoat which affects all colors on top of it - especially the paints where I just stipple on the paint! Hope that makes sense? 👍😅
@@DevsDice Thanks! I’ll see if I can experiment with it (transparent umber) over here
Snyggt Leif!
Tackar så mycket! 👍😊
Hiya leif, amazing work as per! I’d love to you make a warhammer fantasy board build at some point, your style and skill is unparalleled! Keep up the good work my dude!:) also a cool thing to do if you wanna leave doorways open but feel it looks odd. You can put the door on the floor inside the building, like someone or something has kicked it off its hinges and it wouldn’t effect gameplay as your models can still pass over it
Thank you so much! Yeah I would love to! I have actually never player Warhammer Fantasy Battles believe it or not! That's an awesome suggestion! Thank you so much! 👍😊
Your work is inspirational as always.
Thank you very much! I try my utmost! 👍😊
You really are the best of the best!
Aww that is so nice of you to say! I try my utmost! 👍💙💛💙
Just when I finally got around to making two Town houses based on your first video.... you come out with the 2.0 lmao looks good my man!!!
Hahahaha! Damn! I am so sorry about that! 👍😅
@@DevsDice Hahahaa all good... just another building to add to the game table. I actually just finished making two of those row houses with different buildings. reverse enginneered them from your other templates. I made four more single single houses from your templates. Made another Gatehouse and reverse engineered your two "skyskraper" buildings you made with theose two walkways. So yeah... ive been busy lmao. I will either make a Building showcase video on my YT channel or just show them all off on Instagram, either way ill tag you and show you what ive done :)
Oh my goodness! You have been busy! Awesome work! Looking forward to it! 👍😊
@@DevsDice HAHA yeah. They would have been finished sooner, but I have also been creating a new "rules lite" Skirmish RPG since I dont have friends where I live who are into table top games, so I have ended up making my own solo game with rules for cop-op and classic skirmishes. right now im just trying to figure out all the spells and abilities and trying to figure out prices for items and weapons. Then ill have the play test packet finished.
20 minutes late for work because Leif uploaded, just like usual haha 😁😁
Hahahaha! Sorry about that! 👍😅
Very cool
Thank you so much! Glad you like it! 👍😅
Awesome video! Mordheim for the win. :)
Thank you so much! Mordheim for the win indeed! 👍😊
Love your builds!
Thank you so much! Glad my work is appreciated! 👍😊

Welcome back! Yeah it goes onwards and slowly upwards! A lot of work though! 👍😅
Cool as always.
Thank you so much! I try my utmost! 👍😅
Really cool. Such talent and skill 👍👍
Awww so nice of you to say! Thank you very much! 👍😊
At first I saw tech and thought oh no you are just gonna start 3d printing everything.got scared for a half second
Hahahaha! Yeah I can see that but no I don't think I will ever abandon the crafting side. Well for as long as I can craft that is! 👍😅
New video from @DevsDice? Heck Yeah!
Hahahaha! That's an awesome reaction! Hope I didn't disappoint! 👍😅

The frames around the door openings are called jambs ;)
I will do my best to remember that! Thank you so much! 👍😅
@@DevsDice I totally agree with you, the openings look great with them in!
Its a beauty!!
I like the Windows i have to try it that way
Thank you so much! You should! Good luck! 👍😊

What a build!

@@DevsDice well thank you! I love your videos. You’re an inspiration and they bring back my childhood memories when I played Mordheim.

As always amazing work, keep it up.
I am thinking about something like that! We shall see! 👍😅
@@DevsDice it would be awesome to see how time has improved your skill set, could even inspire yourself a bit more.
