Was thinking to myself, man thats a lot of room..yup, 2 wheel drive...must be nice. I had an Xtreme back in 99 and nothing but 4x4 or ZR2s since.. cant even recall what that daylight coming thru a bay feels like
Excellent video, I have a 2002 4x4 pickup, I'm thinking it'll be the same procedure. I had the rear replaced when I had my tranny rebuilt two weeks ago. Again, great video.
I have a vin W sonoma/s-10 4.3 auto 2wd and it seems like everyone replaces the cover and pan gasket but here you just replace the seal. Have you heard how it is doing after 2 years?
Pan gaskets are fairly common on these but this one was did not need it. But to answer your question, since I replaced it, it has not given him any issues as far as oil leaks. He did replace the valve cover and manifold gasket about a year later. He is my neighbor so I see him all the time.
Everytime I have completed this job I have never had oil come out and I have never drained it. So you should be good but if you do lose any, I would say it would be very little.
You do not need an impact it just makes it a little easier to do with one. I use to do them without power tools when I was younger and did not have all of it.
If you are talking about the bolt that attaches the balancer to the crank, then that bolt is 2.25" long (not counting the head of the bolt). The part number to it is 9440024 and that is a GM part number and they are only like 4 or 5 dollars as well.
Great video lots of tips and I'm all about straightforward. Quick question do yu think this would be the same on newer s10 4.3 vortec engines? Specifically a 2004. Looks like it's been replaced before but definitely leaks from the front of the engine not the pan. Thanks for the video hope!
Most require 90 - 120 psi usually and depending on the tool it will let you know what the CFM (air consumption) the tool uses. The larger the tank the longer you can run the tool. A lot of grinding tools will need a larger tank to run them as they empty air tanks pretty quick.
What’s the long bar called that you used with the air hammer
It is a fan clutch tool set from Lisle. Here is a link to it: amzn.to/3dMSwwF
Thanks for the video
Your welcome and hope it helped you out. Also if there are any specs you need just let me know

Lol yeah the 4wd models do not have as much room under them to work on.
Excellent video,

Yeah it will be the same procedure as this basically. Thank you for watching and I hoped that it helps/helped you out.

It certainly will help, I forgot to mention, Mine is an S10 as well.

@@operationoverhaul Super, thank you for the detailed and prompt reply 👍
@@flashfyre You are welcome and if you need anything else feel free to contact me.
Great video I will be doing this on my 2001 Blazer but my question is do you have to drain the oil from the crankcase first?
Everytime I have completed this job I have never had oil come out and I have never drained it. So you should be good but if you do lose any, I would say it would be very little.
Is it ok to just use black rtv on the balancer keyway?
Yeah it is okay use that. I just prefer some type of sealant on there compared to nothing at all.
would a bad harmonic balancer cause it to leak oil?
Yes, if the rubber is deteriorating or if it is starting to separate will cause it to wear the seal out
I did mine without taking anything off except the belt, from underneath,I didn't have impact,a little will power and it can be done.
You do not need an impact it just makes it a little easier to do with one. I use to do them without power tools when I was younger and did not have all of it.
Oh boy, what a fun job :D
What length was the center bolt? TIA

Thank you and yes it would be the same procedure for that engine as well. if you need any specs or anything feel free to let me know.
@@operationoverhaul appreciate that so the harmonic balancer will be setup on the crank the same
@@ChickenJoe24 yes it is exactly the same way as this one.
When working with air tools like that what size compressor should I have or what a Good Psi to have the Tank at
